I agree about split shifts. I did NOT like that for school bus. You constantly looking at watch for when you have to return … then home later than a normal 8 hour straight shift.

I did bus driving years ago but I change to commercial truck driving I like it better I feel my company treats me good I make about 85 to 90k driving truck a year of course I do dedicated reefer with candy and ice cream myself I always made better at truck driving they both good jobs but iam more into trucks than busses one thing with trucks less responsibility unlike with busses you have passengers to worry about and they can be a pain in the ass at times sure most of time no problems but every now and then it happens

Overall, you are going to make more as a truck driver than you will as a bus driver.
Truck driving isn’t for the faint of heart, you gotta have thick skin.
Truck driving is more risky than bus driving.
It is easier to get paid pretty well starting out as a bus driver. Trucking is all about YOUR OWN hustle. There are no freebies.
It is better to get with a smaller company than a mega carrier, because with a mega carrier you will always feel expendable. However, some mega carriers will take care of you. One comes to mind if I’m honest, and that is Schneider. They baby their drivers and we all know it. That is why some people stay regardless of pay.
It is better to go local intermodal or with a company that does shuttle work and services dedicated customers to get the most out of local trucking.
Don’t expect to make 100k as a company driver EASILY. 75K to 90K is the more realistic range and that range isn’t one every new driver reaches when starting. 45k to 60k is where a lot of new drivers are at which is why most companies don’t advertise making 70K+ your first year. Now most are posting 60K.
If you see JB Hunt posting 70K or Schneider Posting 70K, it is probably because they had a good year where the average driver made around that amount.
