    Thank U so much for all the info
    I worked a year at YRC Freight I understand the whole extra board and Union. I’ve been curious about Greyhound for longest time and you answered all my questions.
    Thank you for taking the time to share your experience.

    Nice video man!!! Very informative. Ive had my CDL A for the past 4yrs and have been driving for a local company here in NJ. I work about 62-64hrs per week give or take and gross $1700-$1800 per week and bring home roughly $1200-$1300 per week. I’m in the truck by 3:00am and usually walking through my home door by 2pm everyday and work no weekends. Actually considered working for greyhound but because of your very informative videos I think I’ll stay where I’m at!!! Keep up the good work bro!!!

    Thank you for working for greyhound, I'm a passenger and I was stuck in Jackson Mississippi for 18 hours, heading to Atlanta GA, and when I got there, just missed my connection, so I had to wait another 18 hours with my grandson, but having more drivers, greyhound is NOT going out of business, that you again.

    When other drivers turn down jobs there's likely a good reason. When you mentioned Green River, UT I figured many drivers, if they had the option wouldn't want to go east on I-70 towards Denver during late fall and winter. The HIGHEST interstate road elevation in America is in that area. You see many "Runaway Truck Ramp" signs. You go through the Eisenhower tunnel which exceeds an elevation of 11,000 feet. This is the highest tunnel for car/truck traffic in the WORLD! There can be issues going up AND down I-70 west of Denver. The first time I drove through there many years ago my truck and later a rental car couldn't hold cruise control on some stretches of the road because the grade was so steep and long. If you have any transmission or brake problems or any mechanical issues you'll find out about them there.
    I suspect as you gain experience, and start a family you may come to realize that some of these late fall or winter trips may not be worth an extra $100 bucks for the headaches and hassles. For now though it will be quite interesting the things you will have to go through including dealing with unruly passengers. Keep us posted for sure!

      I do have a question, how can you chain up on your own or are there chain up men there like on I-80 on Donner Pass to assist you for a fee which I am sure greyhound would reimburse you for your out lays. The next thing is for someone who lives in the Los Angeles CA area do you have to get trained to drive in ice and snow in your greyhound training.

    Hello,
    thank you for your video. I have a lot of questions for because i'm considering becoming a passengers bus driver: for two reasons 1- I really like traveling
    2- It pays well.
    Now my problem is i don't have a C D L driving licence and experience, I have the Kansas drivers license for about 3 years and have drove regular cars in Africa for 20 years.
    I you can give me some advises you'are more that welcome

And how often would I get paid. I understand there are insurance. Is it good and worth it?

    Do they monitor the amount of work you've done for the periods of time u mentioned? Because, it seems they would need to in order to control people not working more than they should. I still want to know if they pay for your accomodations for traveling and food and such things?

    • @PhilVerryChannel
      @PhilVerryChannel Рік тому

      Yes, they would have to legally in most cases when you are working on the clock even on standby but the pay rate know as 'down time's is often lower hourly wage. Most, give you a company card for special hotel/motel rates. Meals are often $17/$17/$25 - breakfast, lunch, dinner stipend. If you go over, you pay the difference. Parking, not usually an issue...usually. Hotels have street parking or lots/side areas for buses/RV sizes, lock it up, walk to hotel then sleep. Return for fuel. These buses can go about 1,100 to 1,300-ish miles on a tank of diesel to get to the next fueling point, likely no immediate need for fuel, it's already been calculated by dispatch. If you go off your route accidentally, you may burn through 20 or 50 miles of fuel getting yourself turned around and back on the route right but it won't be like you are 400 or 500 miles off course so you can always refuel at a facility manned by a Greyhound garage.

      They do pay for that. I had to cancel my interview with them due to pay. My training was going to be in Chicago it's a great job if you want to drive which I wanted the job. What they don't tell you is yes they pay for food and hotel stay. But they only give $100.00 a day now if you have a full family that isn't enough to sustain a family while you are away that's why I cancelled my interview. I drive for Nashville transit called WeGo they paid full pay during our training with great Benefits. Me and wife discussed me being on the road she was fine with that she wasn't fine with 100.00 dollars a day though.
