Filoteo Alberini (b. 1865, Orte - d. 1937, Rome, Italy) was an Italian filmmaker. One of the forerunners of the cinematograph in Italy, Alberini invented a filming machine, the Kinetograph Alberini , in the same year as the Lumière Brothers who, unfortunately for him, would file the patent before he succeeded in the venture; in 1905 he created the company that would take the name Cines in 1906 and produce the first Italian colossal film in history Quo vadis? in 1913.
