He retired. He wasn't forcibly removed from television. There are still some good latenight comedians today. We still have Colbert, Kimmel, and Trevor Noah. Seth Meyers is good too with his Closer Look, similar to what Trevor does. I like to describe Trevor as the 60 Minutes of latenight comedy. He's funny while also being very informative, and his backstory is amazing.
