Believe me. It DID need traction control. I almost crashed on wet roads (especially with metal tram lines or paint lines on the road) because of not having it. It was by sheer miracle that the bike straightened itself out again. Those 12 hP are more than enough to power slide the rear on a wet, slippery road, and that's exactly why it got traction control. If you think you can only accidentally slide the rear tires with a sports bike, you are obviously not used to ride 125 scooters. The only thing that is needed for the rear tire to slide on a wet, slippery road, is an extremely slight acceleration when cornering. Regarding the chrome finish on the wheel, the problem is that it rusts with the years (at least it did on my 2011 model). I hope they fixed that on this new model. I disagree on whether it's worth it to get a new one, solely because of the ABS and traction control (the usb and keyless being added bonuses). Having a bike with these security systems will save your life. It's a completely different game when you can apply full braking, regardless of how wet is the road and not having the bike slide from under you or, as mentioned above, knowing you have something there to control the rear wheel in case of oversteering.
I've had the first model since 2011, and it's used on a daily short commute to the train station. Keeps my other bikes good, stash the helmet under the seat and you're away. It's done 21k miles, averages 97mpg, and has only needed a battery aside from routine maintenance. It's been strangely hard on tyres, and I'm on my 5th rear (4th front). Mine is quite rusted beneath the bodywork, but it's used on treated roads all year round, and you can't strip it completely all the time! It's kept my other bikes in good nick, and remains the ideal daily short commuter. Journeys over an hour are a bit tedious, as are most A-roads. It's good for a bit over 60mph, but it feels wrong to hold it flat for a sustained period.
Here in Southeast Asia, we have disc brakes front and rear. We have also only 1 variant which is 160cc. But we don’t have Michelin tyres out from the factory, we only have the cheap Chinese tyres but you can change it right away.
Got mine a month ago, beautiful bike, fits an XL size integral helmet. Shocks wise I agree it’s fairly comfortable but the bike doesn’t like for you to go over speed bumps more than 15-20kmh. Don’t agree on the windscreen, I’m 176cm and it doesn’t do much. Everything else is just wonderful. Love even the start/stop and I was pretty skeptical about it. Consumption 2L/100km.
Thanks great video, you just sold me on the Yamaha NMax. I was having problems choosing as this looked better than the old one but the new differences aren’t enough.
I had a pcx 2014, great scooter but I wrote it off loosing the front end on a patch of oil. I put a Malossi variatior on it and it would do 70mph all day. Put loads of motorway miles on it no problem but it just wasn't that great handling wise compared to a 125 bike but is a lot better than most scooters. I would like to try a new one but would also like to try an msx.
I've got a 2023 PCX125 and from the looks of it, it's never really changed. It's got the same specs as a 2020 afaik. I'm not sure the 2014 would be much different
I have the 2021 PCX and this is a great review of its capabilities. I don’t find the front screen much help to reduce wind buffeting but otherwise the review is spot on !
Great review on a great scooter but I was surprised at the 110mpg. I have a SH125 2020, which I believe has a very similar esp+ engine and I have averaged 130mpg.
I got the 2017 model just to get me back and forth for work and it does exactly what's on the tin I love it and yeah the shocks are a bit ouch lol and I go a lose myself some weekend's for a couple of hrs fantastic little bike
I got my PCX brand new in 2013. Almost 30k on the clock , 11 years on and still too strong to be replaced. I maintain it myself and it's been used for commuting. I had CB600 and NC750X in meantime, both gone the PCX still there. The only thing I replaced was the seat because it was really uncomfortable. . You should consider something bigger if you plan riding over 50mph often. You can do that but the bike is not designed for it and it's not a fun.
what's your opinion on the new updated 2025 PCX? Are those updates worth the most probably extra cost? (rear disc, covered handlebars, digital display and probably different rear suspension)
Articulate. Informative not biased towards large capacity machines. Why the necessity for such a personal comment Wayne? Did you achieve as much at a comparatively young age?
Pull the uses on the ABS to discover a much better feel and performance from the front brake. I did to stop the ABS waring light when a stone damaged the ABS sender ring. I have a new one now, but will not be installing it any time soon. I like my PCX sans ABS.
I have managed to activate Traction Control on my 2021 Honda PCX125. I was on a cobblestone road and after stopping I full throttled, went forward and then suddenly started decelerating, and then I realized TC had started working. So yeah, TC works, guess I wont be doing that on cobblestone anymore.
I can't fathom how a 125cc would fare but here in Indonesia we have the 160cc version and it is absolutely bonkers under acceleration. Would be interesting seeing Dan's reaction then 😅😅😅
@@TheFinrod81 yeah no problem but bear in mind that around 115-120km/h, the bike will vibrate and whir. If you like riding in higher speeds, I reckon the NMAX 155 is a better fit as it has variable valve technology and will be more comfortable cruising from medium to high speed. Although under acceleration, the PCX160 is more responsive than the NMAX
I lost the front (remain heartbroken to this date) end on the old version 2 years ago in Greece. IT DIDN'T HAVE DUNLOPS - do NOT ride this scoot with poor chinese tyres... they gave no clue (i mayb3 lying) as i did have some warnings... I thought as a 16st man it was really good up til then.... i will never ever hire again.... But honestly great chassis for a scooter

The Honda ADV 150 seems to make more sense, at least in America given what we have available in the scooter range. Bang for the buck it’s pretty darn nice.
For putting on the back of a motorhome, and holding body weights of 13 stone each, so 26 Stone total for rider and pillion, would you recommend the PCX 125, or would you say go for the heavier (and faster) Forza 350? We would just need to get a more heavy duty bike carrier, although would prefer the PCX 125 for the two of us if I could get away with it. Just don't know if the weight of 26 stone would weight the bike down too much. It's only to use on the random motorhome holiday to get around the Scottish Highlands. Any advice appreciated. Great video. Thanks, Love from Scotland, X.
I don't care for the chrome handlebar or the crome on top of the the steering head. I think it would look far better if they were the same color as the wheels.
Does it have a built in alarm system? I’m comparing this to the sym jet x which has one but it would be a shame if this one doesn’t as I’m keen to get the pcx

I like the idea of a scooter for the other times I need to scoot around town and occasional ride to other close by pubs so thinking of this . Would you recommend the full cycle leathers a nd full face hat . Plus I think I would certainly complete a motorcycle driving license plus training . How different is riding a scooter from a e- Mtb on the road.? And I guess you would recommend a 125 as opposed to a 50cc?
I had a 2019 pcx 125. I think it's a piece of crap. It was dangerous on bad roads, and it runs not faster than 85 KMS. I think Honda doesnt build any Good motorcycle these days. Only cheap crap.
Nice try, what a bucket of BS, please don''t even attempt to call it a motorcycle ! People should know that being 125cc, it will never reach 70 mph ! I've got the 150cc version of it which is not available in the UK apparently on which I had to replace rear shocks because I was bouncing like a basket ball making it very unstable to ride then replaced the front fork oil since they bottom out on the first pothole or else on the streets plus lowered it at the front to make it more stable due to the scary wobbling at 60mph. Please Note that, my 150 cc struggle to reach 70 mph downhill so it's just virtually impossible to reach the speed mentioned with a 125 cc perhaps the 150 cc version of it will providing it's heavily modified. In the wind/rainy typical British weather and if you have a pillion behind you'd be well pissed off going at walking pace! This being said, just do yourselves a favor, forget it altogether Ok?!
