Hey Serge, UA-cam is tough but you are the kind of person who will never give up. No Matter what keep doing what you are doing. And here are suggestions the text you use in you videos are the same, change it up a bit. Also have a dedicated desk. I can see a bunch of other laptops on it. Just make a simple area. Also you should do unboxings. And the one thing that will make all your videos better is screen capturing the games. But so far you are doing AMAZING. Just take these tips at hand.
+Michael Rabadi yeah its the only desk I have at the moment and I'm planning to move to a bigger place specifically so I can set up a youtube film studio. right now im in a super tight packed room where I can hardly stand. I will start to do screen capturing soon I don't know when yet because currently I do spend a lot of time installing, buying and bug testing these games I spend a lot of time tweaking them and finding the good settings so to do screen capturing would really just add a lot more work to my videos which is why I specifically chose not to. but since you asked.
I wanna start doing it. Perhaps next video ill show it with shadow play.

I'm having a hard time running ES IV: Oblivion on my SP4 i7. I have changed the graphics settings several times but every time I start it up all I get is a gray'ish, black screen with the only thing visible being the compass on the in game HUD.

I have a surface pro 4 i7 and I cannot run battlegrounds on very low settings without extreme lag. Is my surface pro faulty? Or is this an unfair game to compare it too?
so I currently have an asus zenbook ux301la with a core i7, 1080p screen, but only intel integrated graphics, so gaming is not really possible. I'm deciding between the surface pro 4 and the dell XPS 15 with GeForce 960m. The XPS 15 is faster, but the surface would be great for college as it's portable and has a stylus. Anyone have any suggestions as to whether the XPS 15's better graphics makes up for no stylus and worse portability?
Definitely get the XPS 15. You'll have a much better experience with the dedicated graphics.

How do you get the FPS number in the corner?
Hi Serge, to improve the quality of your videos you should try a dark background behind your videocamera. This would reduce reflexions on the display you are recording. With an additional dark background behind the device you want to record, you can improve the contrast of your movie. Hope that works out for you.

Hey SERGE I'm only 11 and I don't have money to buy what ever laptop I want so I have to rely on my parents but they're not willing to spend about $1000 on a laptop so would a core I5 with 4gb of ram and 128 gigs be able to run games like cs:go titan fall and overwatch?
FINALLY someone that tests the gaming capabilities of the i7 model SP4. Most channels stick to the base model with m3 and 515 graphics, or the lowest i5 model. Great video, man!
I've had the i7 model with 8GB myself and was impressed with how well it handled gaming. It blew the 'gaming tablet' Razer Edge Pro with i7 and GT640m out of the water. I'm not a big gamer though, and when someone offered to trade my i7 SP4 for a brand new i5 model with 8GB and 256GB + 400 euros, I traded it. The i5 model definitely doesnt run games as well as the i7 model, since the 520 are way less powerful. Having said that, even on the i5, I can run games like Bioshock 1&2, Rayman Legends, Arkham City and even Hitman Absolution with 30-40fps or better.
If gaming is your thing though, the i7 is the obvious choice. Yes, you could buy a more powerful gaming laptop (or even MORE powerful desktop) for less money, but not everyone wants that. The SP4 could definitely provide a gaming fix in an insanely compact form factor. And there is just something cool in having this much power on such a compact device.
As a longtime Apple user, the SP4 has really impressed me. Now I'm just waiting for the SP5 with USB-C/Thunderbolt 3 so I can use external graphics on it.
Yeah I felt the i7 model would be what a gamer would grab. I think you could maybe use the pro 4 with an external graphics card with its display port but I'm not 100 percent sure.
Yeah the pro 4 i7 is impressive the hd520 isn't too bad either so you could still play most of the same titles except games like fallout4 would not run smoothly but on iris 540 they would.

SERGE 2D The i5 with 520 graphics is very capable too. It's really impressive how far integrated graphics have come. But it was the 540 that really impressed me.
Have you considered getting the Vaio Z Canvas? That was crazy expensive, but lately I've seen it for as low as $999 in the Microsoft Store. Too bad I can't order it here in the Netherlands, because that seems absolutely amazing:
- 45Watt quad core i7 haswell processor (instead of the 18Watt dualcore on the i7 SP4)
- Intel Iris Pro 5200 graphics
- Dual m2-slots, so you could easily put 1TB of memory in there
- Lots of ports (including HDMI and Ethernet)
- Good keyboard, which is included in the package! (same goes for the pen)
- Completely compatible with the Surface Pen
Even is you get the model with 512GB and 16GB RAM it'll run you about $1500,- which seems like a steal compared to the 16GB 512GB i7 Surface Pro 4, especially when you factor in the MUCH more powerful CPU.
Would love to see you do a video on that.

+Meako 67 Hey man awesome you are exactly the type of person I wanna help out! so it turns out good quality gaming laptops are hard to find near that price range however there is one thats pretty good and should be considered! thats the Dell Alienware 13 inch you can grab it for $950 and it will have a dedicated graphics chip the 960m that will run all your favorite games this is a very impressive chip!
There is also the Dell XPS 15 Inch for 1200 which is also a great laptop but because you asked about a 1000 dollar laptop let me see what else I can find. actually it turns out you can game on integrated. not the best obviously but you can play most of your favorite titles with 30-50 fps. Mosts games will work on integrated graphics there is only a few that are considered unplayable like ARK Survival Evolved.
I can find about 10 different laptops that could work for under 1000 but the question is are you ok with a GAMING Laptop? the kinds that are big and fat? or do you want a slim gaming laptop? Does the Size of the laptop matter to you? what kind of scree size do you want?
Most gaming laptops are 13 to 15 inch based laptops and there fairly big there are only a few companies out there that had thin gaming laptops.

also the sp4 throttles the voltage on the cpu when I'm starts to get warm so thats why later on in the test it started lagging

all cpu's throttle to save power unless you turn it off in the bios in systems that let you go into the bios. throttling only happens when you dont need that clock speed its not throttling when you play games. that lag came from a game which is not optimized for anything.
can you play forza6 apex on the pro4? please tell test it, i love my surface.
Is it normal for the battery to start draining when plugged in while running more intensive games? I am a bit new to devices of this type. I have an i7 model as well and noticed my battery would start to drain after testing out Rocket League.
Oh yeah definitely normal. A game takes 4-5 times more resources and power. So it's nothing to worry about. Basically the only way to get 8 hours battery is turn the tablet on and surf the net with no videos so yeah battery life has always been a problem for laptops and tablets however tablets usually not so bad but the surface pro 4 is more of a laptop than a tablet.
Thanks for the response. I had a feeling that was the case. Figured I would ask though. I do have to admit that I am extremely impressed with how far integrated graphics have come in such a short time. But, it is a give and take situation. I guess that is the price that has to be paid to not have a brick at your feet that weighs more than the tablet itself. Anyways, great video, gave me a good idea of how far this thing can be pushed. Hopefully some of the crashing issues in games will be resolved by better drivers from Intel in the future.
+elecjack1 I think my model is defect because I been having a lot more issues. however don't under estimate the older version there also very powerful like the surface pro 2 is the most stable device I have seen to come out of windows I will be picking one up for review to compare and contrast.

I am trading an ipad pro 128gb lte tomorrow and I have two offer either a razer edge pro or the surface pro 4 but I5 version with 8gb ram.. the generations and video graphics confuse me. I know razer is older i7 with some dedicated video but I here new generation i5 is probably quicker. Which do you think is better for gaming and some emulation for games I have. Id like to run dolphin and maybe pcx2 and pc games
+Empire Marketing Great Question! Does the Surface Pro 4 come with a keyboard? if it does it may be an overall better deal because the surface pro 4 will be higher value trade. However the Razer edge pro will be a better gaming tablet because it has a dedicated graphics chip the 640m which is more stable and better for gaming overall.

I've been wanting to try some of the games demo'd here, but am hesitant since old F.E.A.R. bogs down after about five minutes on my SP4/i7/8GB; even at low resolution settings. Starts off great, but then just struggles. Any insight as to why?
+Leibo R Raibstein probably because the gpu and or cpu get too hot and it decreases its own performance to maintain temps. start up fear after not playing games for a little while with an fps counter from fraps than stand in the exact same spot watch as the fps drops if it drops while your standing still that means your system thermal throttles and if thats the case well its sorta how they designed the pro 2 and pro 3. wish it was better!
SERGE It's a 4 though. That's why I wonder about these newer games. Would changing power profiles to run the CPU at a lower percentage help?

I dont believe so it operates on how it was created so it cant do something its not suppose to do so another words it will work and its designed to actually game as well people dont like to admit that but it does game decently.

Games I've run on my surface:
-Tales of Berseria & Zesteria both run at 720p/30fps and at mostly high settings. Fun jrpgs
-Sonic Generations, 720p/30fps wish I could get this at 60 but it's not in the cards I don't think
-Freedom Planet 60fps ...it's a sprite based 2D platformer so not surprised but it runs great and doesn't kill the battery
-Renegade Ops 720p 45-60fps really good twin stick shooter that even has spit screen co-op
-Borderlands 2 720p mostly high 45-60fps. Even managed to host a game with friends locally and it ran great
-Resident Evil Revelation 720p 60fps+ this runs great, really surprised by that
-Gods Eater Burst 720p 60fps~ pretty good game runs well too
The trick to getting a game to run is don't bother with anything above 720p, the graphics chipset just can't handle it. Drop it to 720 and chances are most games that aren't bonkers like witcher 3 should run well enough to good.
Wait... I saw another video of the SP4 i7 and a game was lucky to stay above 30fps, and then this video comes along with GTA V at 60-70 fps (keep in mind the other video had games on lowest settings). What am I missing, because the i7 looks REALLY appealing in this video compared to others. Please respond.

+Vũ Hồ there pretty similar its nice because hd 520 now takes the place of most hd5500 devices so in the past those devices would of been weaker but now they have better integrated gpus for instance the dell xps 13 early 2015 model had hd5500 which was one of the weaker gpus now it comes with hd520 which is significantly better.

I can tell you with certainty that sims 4 will run pretty good. thats because a lot of more graphically intensive games have proved this in this current test. I want to do a part two very soon so I will do SIMS 4 + expansions and even SIMS 3!
+Starr Marcelin however make sure you grab the I7 model as it has IRIS 540 instead of the i5 model that has hd520 which is no where near the power of IRIS 540.

they should be fine as long as you run on medium to low and you have the i7 iris 540 igpu it should work.

I have the Surface Pro 4, and I was curious if it could run Civilization V or VI? I checked systemrequirementslab.com, and the website said I didn't have enough Dedicated Video RAM. I don't really know much about computer gaming, but I have played Skyrim on the Pro 4 and it said my dedicated video RAM was too low for that too.

+limcrew Hmmm thats a hard one. I would get the XPS 15 if you get the 960m if not than get the SP4. but if your really not gonna game the SP4 is pretty sweet how ever IRIS540 can be unstable at times check to see if It will run your specific game. a 960m like in the upgraded version of the xps 15 will run all games pretty good but the sp4 will need to be checked to see if it can run those specific games. what games did you wanna play besides skylines and starcraft 2? SC2 will run good. Skylines will play but it wont be perfect I tested it on IRIS 6100 and it ran poorly was very surprised.
+SERGE dont know.. maybe some RTS games and some MOBA games.. they dont need to much GPU perfomance i hope.. oufff.. i think am gonna go with the SP4 because of the portability, even if will cost me a lot more.. :-/

+sadbird33 haha you will be ok man no worries the fan will always run super fast and the tablet will get hot thats what happens when you run games and its normal so don't worry.
I don't know If I need to try GTA 3 with max settings I think it doesn't work or maybe only with 15 FPS or something.
GTA3 will run on max graphics with 60fps. its an old game now that runs great. What system do you have?

IMO yes the 16gb of ram will make a difference, and if you use common sense you shouldn't really need an antivirus, but one would still be recommended. AVG is free and it's pretty good, Google it.
The 16GB won't be any different over the 8GB. You would only see a difference if you had lots of other things open at the same time but even then the difference would be minimal (1 to 5 fps)

+Christopher Beninger Glad you liked the video! yeah it can game, surprisingly good, I was so impressed! 16gb ram would not improve the game play as most games you can run will only hit the 5gb mark maybe 6 or 7 if you play battle field 4.
Rome 2 should run good as I did testing on this with much older gaming capable integrated graphics hd6000 and it ran pretty decent.
