My Lenovo IdeaPad just quit on me after six years of being a dependable workhorse. I replaced it with a Surface Pro 5 and wow! I love it! I'm a remote contractor and 99% of my work is done on this machine. Its keyboard is excellent and also works great with a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse. I paid under $400 for it in eBay--a bundle that included the typecover and power supply. No regrets. It's every bit as good as I hoped it would be. ❤️👍🙂

I have the i5 model because just couldn't wait that extra month :D Great review. I have replaced my other machines with this one and when I do some software I have that surface dock with 2 displays on it and a mouse. I thought initially that I'd still would use my old keyboard, but like you said in the video, the keyboard on SP4 is so great that I only use it :) On gaming side I usually don't play much FPS games. Hearthstone and XCOM2 works perfectly with i5 model too.
Yeah the keyboard definitely is surprisingly good. And yeah the Intel HD 520 graphics on the i5 model is actually capable of running a decent amount of titles. Thanks for watching!
I absolutely love it . I have the m3 version but even then it can handle some light gaming running games like warframe. I mostly use it for word and photo room and there is absolutely no fan noise whatsoever

Great review of the product. I especially liked the question about MS not including the fingerprint scanner on a device costing as much as it does. A few things to work on as far as the video editing but hey... if I could do better I'd be making my own reviews. Keep me coming. Subscribed
Excellent video review. Great editing. I own the exact model and keyboard and I concur with your conclusions. Battery life on this specific model is the only drawback. I get about 5 hours solid business use with display brightness at 75%. I hope MS improves battery capacity with future models. I could accept a slightly heavier model if it meant an extra hour or two of battery. All in all, the SP4 is best in class with regards to hybrid devices.
+txmoney There is supposed to be an update coming soon that is supposed to help with battery life. We'll have to wait and see whether or not microsoft delivers though.

You can install android with duOS, but the average person wouldn't really want to do that. Though Microsoft did say they are going to merge with the Play Store so they'll have any app that android does. Thanks for watching!

Great review so thanks for posting! I've been using Apple products since 1983 and I was among the first to have a Mac in 1984. Even so, I have used Microsoft products right alongside. Every so often I try to give Microsoft a fair shake and with the advent of the SP4 I also agree that Microsoft may have stumbled across something that actually works! Since Apple has essentially gotten out of the computer business I'm looking more and more at Windows machines these days'and I have my eyes squarely set on the Surface Pro 5. Until then, I'm content with the MacBook running Parallels. I absolutely love Office365 for the Mac 2016, and Windows 10 is much more appealing on the eyes than any of the Mac's, due mainly to their unwillingness to scale display resolution for readability.
Totally agree. I can see some cons of the SP4 being a real deal-breaker. (battery life, single usb port.) Really think Microsoft can easily fix those with the SP5!

I got the i7 with 16gb and 256gb ssd and I love it I have been using it for over a year as my daily driver at my university. It can play fornite at medium settings and gets around 40fps. the only downside to this is that with medium to heavy web browsing and 1440p youtube browsing im getting around 2 hours of battery life. Just wish chrome isnt such a battery hog.
I wanted to know something, should I get the SP4 (Surface Pro 4) with i7 16gb ram/256gb or SP5 (Surface Pro 2017) with i5 8gb ram/256gb. I mainly need more BATTERY LIFE, according most other reviews they say that the SP5 has almost 50% more battery life than the SP4. But the SP4 has a cooling fan in it but the SP5 doesn't will that make a difference in battery life, and does the lack of "cooling fan" in SP5 cause it to throttle in high intensive tasks? And SP4 with i7 and 16gb ram mean it will get more battery life than the SP5 with it 8gb ram?
A Surface 3 is a great tablet and yes there are decent apps in the appstore, and you can get an Android emulator to run on it, so you can have the best of both.
install DuOS and you have Android and can use it as your default Android tablet, flick to Microsoft and your perfect laptop, dock it and it is a brilliant desktop.
+PhantomTech Yes it does, I have the same model as in your video and rarely use the Microsoft apps, but have installed loads of programs that Windows 10 loves and for me it's a desktop replacement for sure. I have the docking station and a 27-inch Dell ultra sharp connected to it + 9 USB 3.0 ports. When I travel it's simply undocked and it becomes the perfect travel laptop or Android tablet. linked to my Android phone, Bluetooth headphones, It's so useful, light, truly the perfect device in my eyes.
+Mike Bowen exxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxactly!!! duos works perfectly to give you the full android atmosphere on this tablet, which again is ten times better than ios. so much more versatile and useful, than the oppressive crapple sys. windows will catch up to android in time, as they are very good at doing that. but in the meantime, you can have a great tablet atmosphere with full android, and use full windows ten in just a click. you don't have to logout to switch, just minimize android to use windows, and just click it when you want the tablet functions. so much better than anything crapple has to offer.
+Enrique Del Pilar DuOS has lollipop, battery life isn't an issue for me, and I can't say it's bothered me as I am always using my surface pro 4 on mains. The few times I have used it without mains I reckon I got 5+ hours (which is fine). Depends what is running though. Remember DuOS is a program running in Windows 10, not standalone.

The i7 model throttles a lot so there's a lot of wasted performance. The i5 with 8gb is the best bang for buck in my opinion, and it definitely can run those games. Hope this helps!
Yeah I was thinking of getting a surface for high school. I have a shared pc with my younger brother, but that solely is used for gaming and entertainment. There is no way I can take it to school or on a road trip so that's why I want a surface pro
Well it actually took a really long time to make in Photoshop, and then animate an intro in after effects. Not sure how to give advice, I guess I can just say just go for a very flat and simple design. That's all I can really think of, sorry

+Beforeffects I talked about the lackluster battery and the fact it's absurd that it doesn't come with a keyboard. It's just hard to fir a lot of info in a short time. Battery lasts around 5-7 hours with normal use and 3-4 with heavy use like Video editing. It only got really for for me when rendering this 4k video for an hour. The surface doesn't have the Iris Pro graphics, it has the Iris graphics (The Iris Pro has 128MB of L4 memory while the Iris doesn't have L4 memory)

Actually you can get quite a lot more performance out of it if you edit 1 registry entry, to allow the GPU to go to full performance.
It shouldn't be up to the consumer to fix things Microsoft messed up on

Yeah I was thinking of getting a surface for high school. I have a shared pc with my younger brother, but that solely is used for gaming and entertainment. There is no way I can take it to school or on a road trip so that's why I want a surface pro

Well it actually took a really long time to make in Photoshop, and then animate an intro in after effects.
Not sure how to give advice, I guess I can just say just go for a very flat and simple design.

I talked about the lackluster battery and the fact it's absurd that it doesn't come with a keyboard. It's just hard to fir a lot of info in a short time.
Battery lasts around 5-7 hours with normal use and 3-4 with heavy use like Video editing.
It only got really for for me when rendering this 4k video for an hour.

Just to give you some ideas, I would love to have videos with this i7 model about realistic scenarios, like reviewing the Surface with Adobe Premiere more closely or something like that. I think this is lacking on UA-cam, lots of i5 but no i7.
