I met Peter, Daniel and Bjorn at a gig in Austin Tx in the early 2000's. They were absolutely awesome and spent quite a bit of time after gig talking to fans outside of the venue.
In Flames were one of the absolute first bands that pulled me into Death Metal and Dark Tranquillity seem to be the peak of that. This band have crept onto my playlist without me realising the connection so now I'll start buying!

In Flames and Dark Tranquillity are part of my life and see you saying that these songs are trying to get the "old years when you started listening heavy metal" explains a lot of the energy of The Halo Effect brings! When I heard the album, I couldn't believe what I just listened to... A feeling of euphoria, pure emotion, something that I hadn't felt for a long time. The album is absolut perfection, feels like a gift I don't even deserve. I just want to see you guys live now, hopefully someday !!

As a big fan of both IF and DT since I remember -The Halo Effect combines all the best aspects from both (Melodic old school sound never sounded fresher and Mikael's voice is even better than in DT)however ,to me TheHE sounds way better than todays IF,sadly,All the best ,Cannot wait to see yous life in 2025

Just listen to the intro of " Days of the lost" " Feel what I believe " and the candid "Conditional." All of these tracks showcase the glorious 90's SMDM movement at its peak and beyond! Jasper and Staine collaborating again my goodness!
They made me remember my youth when I heard them together again, it is an album that I personally consider to be in my top 5 and in first place. well done guys

If you think rehashed riffs from 20 years ago, but not as good with a monotone vocalist are considered to be masterpieces, well you set the bar pretty low, foregone is a masterpiece
I'm seeing these guys later this month in Massachusetts and I absolutely cannot wait! I've been listening to the entire album at least once a day (mostly between my car ride to and from work) just psyching myself up in anticipation.

Since I discovered Dark Tranquility quite a while after In Flames, when I first saw Mikael I pretty much thought if there was an actor to play him in movie it should be Tony Curran as they look quite similar especially with the hair Tony had in Underworld.

I can understand all those bands existing under the very broad umbrella of "melodic death metal" genre, but Jester Race (In Flames) and The Gallery (Dark Tranquility) sound nothing like Slaughter of the Soul. Granted, there are more similarities between The Gallery and Jester Race but they definitely have their own distinct personalities. If anything, those two albums have more in common with ATG albums released before Slaughter.
I find it weird how these IF guys begged Niclas to learn all the songs quickly to replace Jesper…. Do they realize that there’s millions of fans who know how to play 99% of the songs?
As he is their friend, they knew it would work both on a personal and professional level. There are thousands of men and women who can play just about anything on a guitar, but that is not all it takes to make a band successful.
