I have to say, I think it is so admirable that he has chosen when he plays Live. He knows that his addiction is powerful. I also have to commend the band for not straight up replacing him with their touring member but, working through his illness and with him. That's the sign of a strong bond.
So happy for you Jesper and proud of your music and your efforts to prioritize your health and even to be so open about it too! Its so good to see someone getting help and trying to save their life. Best of luck quitting smoking! My girlfriend quit last month after 10 years! You can do it too!
You're a legend and one of the reasons we play this musical genre. I am hearing your actual voice for the first time while I'm watching you performing since I was a child. Keep on making inspiring music.
Holy crap you got Jesper?? That's awesome!! He is one of the reasons i started playing the guitar and especially the explorer shape! I really hope he gets well and starts feeling healthy again and we will be here supporting him and his music. For the horde! ;)
That is so great to see Jesper smiling, being excited about music, going on stage, even saying nice things about In Flames. He's definitely on a good path now, and I can't wait to see what he'll come up with next ! Legend.
My son of 12 and I was at Sweden Rock Festival. We had listened to the singles before and both really liked it even though we haven't listened that much to In Flames. We also went to the band's signing and my son got a guitar pick from Niklas. After the signing we were part of a group of about 30 people who were invited backstage for a listen of five unreleased track and had a great meet and greet with the band who answered a bunch of questions. Finally we got photo of us with the whole band. This was by far the best experience of both of our life's! My son has now started playing guitar and is picking away with the LP on in the background!
Jesper 100% makes sense based on what he said about his depression. It's like your mind and emotions are disconnected, and you're unable to do anything that progresses you in life. Your mind knows what's going on, and a lot of people like Jesper turn to vices to try and 'handle' it, when in reality they have to find a way to live with it and work through things by talking. I don't think he has an addiction issue, I think it's more along the lines of him trying to find a way to deal with the chemical imbalance within his brain. I hope his doctors are looking into things for him, and I hope he is able to manage things so he can live a fulfilled life. I go through this myself on a daily basis. A lot of people do not understand how you can have such a disconnection between the logical side of your brain and emotional side of your brain. The majority of chemical imbalance issues within the brain are caused by trauma.
My favorite interview on your channel. Absolutely love seeing Jesper, one of my favorites. His guitar work is what got me into the “genre”. This interview seemed very heartfelt and almost therapeutic for him. Such a genuine and honest guy. Hope to see some Halo Effect dates in North America. Best of luck to Jesper and keep up the great work Pedro!
I really get the feeling of this being less an interview and more a case of jesper being ready to come out and tell his story, and I am absolutely 💯 % for it. Such a talented man hindered by such a horrible life long battle. We're all behind him
This is so incredibly awesome! First, thank you Jesper and A&P Reacts for this interview. Jesper's music has had such a huge impact on my life. It really opened my mind and ears to a whole new genre of music growing up. Growing up I listened to metal, but it was all US based bands. Extreme metal (Death, Black, etc.) and all other metal outside of the US was hard to come by at that time (early to mid 90's). The only outlet I could experience extreme metal or metal outside of the US at that time was RealPlayer clips. I remember coming across The Jesters Race and being absolutely blown away. It was like nothing I ever heard. It was that album that lead me through the rest of the In Flames albums to follow and introduced me to new bands like At The Gates, Dark Tranquility, Soilwork, Dimension Zero, Sacrilege, and the list goes on. I remember it took two paychecks to buy a single album, but it was so very worth it! This interview is a rare gift to hear Jesper speak on music, issues, and on anything for that matter. I am so glad Jesper opened up (not easy to do) that he is prioritizing his health, and is motivated to continue making inspiring music. Jesper is an absolute legend to me and I will always look forward to anything he has a part in. Thanks again gentlemen for the interview. In Jesper We Trust! 🤘
Jesper book that Scandanavian tour in North America!!! Yes!! Awesome chat. He really opened up, shame Zoom cut out, but I do hope during that time you had a good chat, he was guarded at the beginning, but warmed up and opened up quickly, seems he really needed you to listen to him let a lot of this out. Sometimes that's what you need when struggling with health, it can be so isolating, you just need someone there to listen. xoxo
Jesper you have our support man. The album is great, and I am really glad you did this interview and be so honest. Keep on going man, you are one of the best guitarists out there \m/
What an absolute legend! The humbleness and humility of the guy. Fantastic interview! I hope to see him back on stage with THE sooner rather than later
Music needs Jesper Strömblad, metal needs Jesper Strömblad, the world needs The Halo effect and I need The Halo effect. Today, besides meeting the brilliant musician, I met the excellent person. Jesper, I hope you continue to fight and overcome your problems. Thanks for the interview, even though I'm two years late.😁
He sounds like he needed to vent the halo effect days of the loss is an amazing album his influences all over that album God bless him I hope he stays healthy
I'm here again to wish you good things and send good energy Jesper, your songs made me endure 6 years of depression, I didn't have anyone to share and support me at that time, just your songs, and that later woke me up to learn to play the guitar and create Project JotunI have a lot to thank you for, and I believe you too will go through this battle, I'm not saying this as a fan, but as a person who has empathy and cares about other people's lives
Holy crap. This is amazing. Thank you for this interview. Jesper is legendary. His music with In Flames had huge influence on me as a person to think analytically about things around me and try to always do good and be the best that i can be and i'm sure i can't be the only one influenced positively by them. So thank you Jesper, In Flames and A&P for this interview.
First huge THANK YOU!!!! HUUUUUGE THANK YOU!! A&P for having Jesper (Quick fact my son’s name was named after this legend, with a little variation so Jasper 😁) in your channel and mostly, for allowing him to lead the conversation!! Much appreciation!! It was nice to hearing him TALK! Instead of an interview this felt like therapy, not only for Jesper but for me as well. Jesper bud, I hope this statement doesn’t add stress, but “we need you to be healthy and creative, and that's why WE HAVE YOUR BACK…24/7” #injesperwetrust 🤘🏾👊🏾
A&P-REACTS, thank you for sharing this precious interview. Jesper is one of my favorite musicians and I am so glad I managed to see him with In Flames back in 2008 in Kavarna, Bulgaria, it was a dream come true back then. Now, with The Halo Effect another older dream came to its realization - Mikael (one of the best metal vocalists) and other ex-In Flames members are sharing their talent once again together for us after decades. Jesper is a very strong man and after this interview, I understand and admire him even more. Respect and love for what you left to the world :)
Ive been a huge In flames fan since 1996 and I think this is the first time I hear Jesper speak apart from single words etc. Anyhow, an absolut metal legend
What an interview! To hear so many gems and nuggets come straight from Jesper @4:38. Glad he is succeeding in the new band, you can feel has genuinely happy he is to be writing and playing again!
Thank you for your years of service to the metal community Jesper. I remember back when you played WoW and we chatted about it once back during a meetup. Look forward to seeing all your work in the future.
I've always looked up to Jesper, his work has been a huge inspiration and he is one of my guitar heroes growing up. I've been so happy to see him making music again these past years but also sad that he still has personal demons holding him back. He is a legend and I really hope he gets past it and can enjoy his life to the full. It was so good to hear from him in this interview.
Jesper!!! ❤️🤘🏻😎 Take care of yourself! Thank you for this album that i never thought would be released.. i have been waiting for an album like this for about 20 years..
Jesper, the whole metal community loves you. I hope you know that. You have meant so much to so many people, I really hope you know you have changed people's lives for the better. I've fought with depression and anxiety all my life too. We got you bro and we all understand and support whatever you do.
Awesome interview, it's great to see Jesper doing well! Days of the lost is such a great record, since it came out I've been listening to it everyday, I genuinely can't wait to hear the next record 🤟🏻
one of my heroes in my teenage years, undeniably a legend, it hurts to hear your struggles but glad you're willing to overcome it and have really good friends around you to support you. all the best 🙏🏻
Great interview! Jesper is in my view the most influential melo death guitarist ever. Great to hear him speak on everything! The Halo Effect created a perfect album for me at this time. Everything I love about the Gothenburg sound is incorporated beautifully. Wishing good luck to Jesper and The Halo Effect.
Insane that you got Jesper, great interview! Snuskigt bra platta ni gjort Jesper, man känner igen din touch så fort låtarna drar igång. Även om det hade varit grymt att se dig på scen snart så är hälsan prio ett alltid, ta hand om dig och fortsätt skapa fantastisk musik!
My heart aches for you Jesper. I know what you are going through since I suffer from depression , anxiety, bi polar disorder and adhd. There are good days and bad but remember you need rainy days and sunny days my friend
I've never seen Jesper's talking that much. Great to see that. And openness about your problems is always a good starting point to see you are not alone in this world. Hope all goes well for him and THE Btw it was one of the best interviews ever. Typical questions to the musicians are typically soooo boring. And that was some real talk (well, monologue mostly, but it's a rare opportunity to hear Jesper speak) "I'm kidding, i don't like your channel" at the end was funnny though, even if Jesper didn't mean that
wow this is a major accomplishment! thanks A&P for sharing probably the longest Jesper interview! thanks Jesper for creating the soundtrack of our lives
Thank you both A&P Reacts and Jesper for a truly exceptional and soul-penetrating interview. Rarely if ever I've watched such an honest, bold and brave discussion about difficult topics. Something in this very interview touched something very deep in my soul and me as a human being. Maybe it has to do with the fact, that Jesper's music and art has had such an immense impact on my life already for 25+ years. Other aspect was that this interview managed to capture something truly unique and human. Something which cannot be acted, nor denied. And within that raw, uncompromising honesty of this interview - it becomes something universal. Us as humans battling our own adversities and overcoming them! So kudos for both of you Jesper & A&P-reacts. Keep both doing what you do, because it all comes straight from the heart!!!
Wow. This is such an amazing interview. Great guy and great insight into the head and mind of a genius. The best about him is that he's unfiltered and honest. He isn't filtered by today's society. Sort of like a child. 🏅
Me and some friends met Jesper and In flames before I show in Sweden waay back... 1997. Thats also when I understood that In flames wasnt that big yet, I just asumed they already had a huge crowd after the masterpiece "The jester race" 👍 They where really nice though and the show was great, they also played a new song from the "upcoming" album: Whoracle (Episode 666)
thanks you Jesper for just taking time and open youself. As many said before you arr a true inspiration for many of us. thank you the channel also to let us experience that, 1 hour felt even not long enough...
My melodeath hero definitely. He is the main reason I listened to In Flames. And one of the reason why i am using explorer shape guitar. Such a humble guy.. Its cool to hear he speaks during interview after such a long time.
It was really nice to hear and see Jesper talking about different things in his musical and personal life. I wish him all the best, and I'm sure he'll be back again to the full strength. The interviewer, unfortunately, was a bit disinterested, didn't listen carefully to what Jesper said and often interrupted him - such a shame.
I absolutely adore this album and Jesper!! Whoracle and Reroute to remain were the main albums that made me a fan of this genre and I got the same fantastic feelings as when I heard Gyroscope for the first time when I was 10 years old. I’ve grown up with Jespers music and this album is everything that I love about metal!
Great interview! Jesper, you are an inspiration . Your honesty and dedication is a testament to your strength. Be well sir, and always keep it metal. We know you will. All the best 🤘
He is the one of the best musician in the planet he is such a nice guy i have never heard that he talks that much so far i have been following him since the jester race years.this is so good interview.İ am to happy to see that he is going better .Jesper is a very inspirational guy and lots of peoples guitar hero that is obivous.
Jesper seems quite happy here. A few interviews in recent years it seemed like he was in a pretty dark place, but he's way more upbeat and talkative here.
Jesper, I will be with you in all my thoughts at my upcoming AA meetings. As with all our friends who have chosen the path of sobriety. I'm glad that I can go on this journey with you and maybe, in addition to your friends, the AA community can also help you to play your excellent riffs in the future and make the many people who love you happy. I wish you all the best from Hungary! God bless you!
Jesper has been a massive influence on me ever since I first heard in flames and then shortly after that I heard Dimension Zero and I was hooked for life. If he would consider revisiting that band as well I would be so greatful!
A true LEGEND!!! One of the greatest RIFF MASTERS of the NWOSDM. Bring us some more Dimension Zero!! Great interview!!! Keep up the excellent, true and authentic work you put to the channel!!
Jesper, thanks for sharing and I wish you the best of health. At the risk of stating the obvious, the new album is f'ing incredible. Pedro, you've earned a sub.
Incredible that you got to do over an hour interview with Jesper. So awesome. Firstly, I hope this dude realizes just how special he is to the Melodeath community, and how excited everyone watching this video, and so many others, is to see him back in the scene. Also...man...how cool is this? Just to have Daniel back behind the kit...that alone would be amazing. Or to have Peter on the bass again...just that alone would have been awesome. Or again, just to have Jesper writing music again. Any one of those 3, in my opinion, would have been a huge win. But we get every fucking one of them in the same band again, just a different name. It's almost too good to be true, but here we are with a full album that sounds like a continuation of what they were all doing together back in the 90's, plus Niclas and Mikael. I'm not going to lie. The first time I heard Shadowminds I teared up. So incredibly happy to have these guys all back together writing music.
Jesper seemed to really have some stuff to get off his chest. I think that could have been really healthy for him to tell that stuff to the outside world. Also, very cool to hear him tell the real story of the end of In Flames.
Jesper has always been my favorite from In Flames and I kinda stopped listening after he left and later Peter and Daniel, because what made me enjoy In Flames wasn't there. and when they announced The Halo Effect I shat myself dude, it was such a fucking great feeling to see them all together again. The album is a masterpiece, no more words needed, I feel 10 again listening to melodic death metal like a madman. I hope Jesper can find himself and heal, he's a beloved musician and I think everyone is behind him. Thank you for THE, and good luck Jesper. I hope to see you in Lisbon this October \m/
Coincidentially, IF´s newest singles for their next album are sounding very old-school ever since T.H.E started being a thing... (Jokes aside, it´s great that we have 2 versions of the same band if you really want to think about it)
Thank you so much for this! Jesper this was like a gift today. So much hope bestowed and so excited for the possibilities!!! Keep going Jesper keep going!!!!
Jesper has literally made some of the best metal ever recorded. A fuckin legend, indeed!
Jesper is such a nice genuine guy, nice to hear him excited about his music. I wish only the best for him on his journey.
You're a legend and one of the reasons we play this musical genre. I am hearing your actual voice for the first time while I'm watching you performing since I was a child. Keep on making inspiring music.
Your music is awesome btw guys
Oh, I guess I've just accidentally found a new cool band 🤔
All you here who like Jesper and his work, I seriously recommend checking out Dimension Zero if you haven't yet.
So happy for You that you had chance to talk to this living legend. And Jesper was so humble and honest. Respect 😊
This is amazing to see man. Jasper is a hero of mine, muscially and for being an earnest human being. And I love the shirt can't lie
In flames was never the same after Jesper left. It proves that Jesper was the heart of the band.
Amazing! This man right here is responsible for some of the greatest metal ever composed. So much love and light to Jesper 🔥
I still like new In Flames but Jesper created this sound. This man is just legendary, what I wouldn't do to meet him. I have so many questions

Jesper really looked like a child being back on stage. The amount of nervous smiling really made the show truly great!
The Wizard of Melodic Death Metal.
Jesper a pleasure to hear you in the interview, we love you and your music

If I went to rehab and they asked how many beers I've drank, I'd just say approximately an Olympic swimming pool full, maybe two...
Super humble guy🤘🏼🎸
Jesper, the whole metal community loves you. I hope you know that.
You have meant so much to so many people, I really hope you know you have changed people's lives for the better.
I've fought with depression and anxiety all my life too. We got you bro and we all understand and support whatever you do.
I don’t remember seeing a long form sit down with Jesper in years.
A living metal legend! One of the best metal songwriters in history! 🔥🤘
We love you Jesper ❤️

I wouldn't mind seeing a band consisting of Jesper Strömblad and Peter Tägtgren. They could make some killer music, I'd reckon

Absolute legend. It is really nice to see a person fighting back with their demons and even having a laugh about them.
Man what a nice guy he is in here. I wish him all the best and that he keeps willing to resist his urges.
My god, this comment could be 100% mine as well
In Jesper we Trust. Keep pushing forward brother and we will all be here to support you.
Great interview! Jesper, you are an inspiration . Your honesty and dedication is a testament to your strength. Be well sir, and always keep it metal. We know you will. All the best 🤘

Jesper seems quite happy here. A few interviews in recent years it seemed like he was in a pretty dark place, but he's way more upbeat and talkative here.
In Jesper Stromblad we trust!

Jesper is forever my most favourite band member ( both in the halo effect and in flames ) 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Super great and open minded interview, thanks The channel
Jesper has been a massive influence on me ever since I first heard in flames and then shortly after that I heard Dimension Zero and I was hooked for life. If he would consider revisiting that band as well I would be so greatful!
A true LEGEND!!! One of the greatest RIFF MASTERS of the NWOSDM.
Bring us some more Dimension Zero!!
Great interview!!! Keep up the excellent, true and authentic work you put to the channel!!
So good to see Jesper is doing well and on the mend!!! :D
Wow, what a open hearted interview and Jesper, damn respect!
great interview, Jesper is a great guy, funny and strong to be facing his demons like that, glad he is doing better and wants to be back on stage!
Really cool talk, well done. Jesper is a legend.
In all honesty if it wasn’t for Zoom time limit restrictions we would have gone longer
@@APREACTS damn! Well we all appreciate what you gave us, regardless. Awesome interview man! You planning on any more members from THE in the future?
Jesper is a legend. Get well man! Love the new music!
Jesper seemed to really have some stuff to get off his chest. I think that could have been really healthy for him to tell that stuff to the outside world.
Also, very cool to hear him tell the real story of the end of In Flames.
Where did he say that? I listened to this but I didnt hear when he mentioned the end of in flames?
Damn Jesper suffers the same shit I do.. I feel for him.
Jesper The fucking leggend ! Hope to see you in The european tour with The Halo Effect
Metal is TIMELESS !!! 🫠🤌🤌
