Thank you very much for making this video. It was so helpful, informative, and detailed. I liked it when you talked about your experience of downloading the MS 365 to the Mac, and went over each app very detailed and showed how each app works. Hope to see more great videos from you. For the 90% of users Numbers, Pages and Keynote are good enough. If you work with Office in a Corporate environment, Office 365 on a Mac is a must at home. What Office 365 lacks on Mac are most of the Power Tools for Excel, Power Query is way behind from Windows. And let’s not talk on Power Bi, a Windows exclusive tool.

One feature I miss in Office for Mac is the side scrolling ability in Word. In the Windows variant you get this ability, with a nice 'book reading' animation as the pages are turned. It sucks that feature is missing from the Mac version of Word.

I have been using Microsoft Word on the Macintosh since about 1987 or '88. I have used full-blown Office on the Mac since about 2001. (My primary Office product has consistently been Word, but I've also used Excel, PowerPoint, and Entourage. Over the past few years, I started using Office 365, so I also started using OneDrive, OneNote and Outlook. Office 365 is great, providing that you don't let your subscription lapse because you change credit cards. I recently acquired an M1 Mac Mini, which runs circles around my 2013-vintage Core i5 iMac. The only issue with the M1 Mini is making sure all of the drivers for peripherals work properly. So far, I'm partially satisfied that the M1 Mini can use my ancient HP LaserJet 4100N network printer, but some of the functionality is gone (can no longer turn down the print resolution) and sometimes a print job (even a simple one) is extremely slow. Also: my Epson Perfection V.39 scanner works, but not very well; the Epson scanning software frequently crashes, making it unreliable.

Having used Windows most of my life, Office suite is ingrained into me. After migrating to macOS, I did try out Pages, Numbers (no keynote yet). I have to say I was and am struggling with the mac user lifecycle. At times pulled my hair out as not able to do what i am used to, such as copy the formatting of a cell and apply to the rest.
I did download Office for Mac, but thats to increase my productivity while working. I did end up keeping my MSI Win 10 machine as just in case to jump onto, but i now see myself using my M2 MB Pro more predominantly, in comparison to my Win machine. 😊

UI on Mac version may be prettier but less usable IMHO. E.g. Outlook can't display more than the bare minimum of columns unless you turn off reading pane, doesn't show no. of emails in folder, etc. I'm used to the keyboard shortcuts in the Widows version of Excel and the absence on them on the Mac version really affects productivity. At the end, Windows version of Office still is more suited for the pro / hard core corporate worker IMHO.

For me as a Mac user who used office suite on both Mac and windows I know for number it’s lacking with some tool, although I don’t use excel, the thing I like the most with the MAC version is the UI design of the toolbar it looks so much more modern and more intuitive instead of multiple drop down menus on the windows side. Once you get the hang of what all the symbols mean, or use the search tool, it’s easy to do things like change the proofreading language, etc.

Office 365 is compatible but it's subscription based. Pages numbers and keynote is good enough

I use MS Office desktop version on all my Macs, in a corporate environment. Outlook 100% of the business day, then Excel 80% or more, followed by Word. With Excel, I only find 1 or 2-items in Excel that do not work on a Mac, and I think that is based upon the Mac mouse interaction. One other item is that several very common Excel add-ins are not designed for Mac. Also, you have a dead ferret under your nose.

Pivot tables in mac are buggy and do NOT work correctly. You get no XLRisk functions and numerous of bugs in both 2D and 3D charts. I love macs but I think I'll switch back to windows laptops purely because of poor MS office performance. Also regarding ppt it crashes a lot. Many times it'll freeze and your document just vanishes. It's not just me, many of my MBA peers when i was in business school had the same issues. Also I recall all my professors that tought any sort of Risk/marketing class that required heavy MS use always recommended we stay away from Mac.

This is especially true for any business. Also the conversion from Microsoft format to Mac works extremely well so working with any office product is very easy with a Mac.

Word is a terrible program for large reports (over about 80 pages), even on Mac it crashes often (or over heats) if even a few jpgs are added to documents. All in all it has a lot of features and is indispensable since they killed off the competition which at the time were actually. better. (2018 Intel Mac with masses of Ram)

Question: I have a Microsoft 365 subscription for personal/family use
For when you do a video about Microsoft software on macOS (Ventura or previous depending on what version you are using) my question is does Microsoft OneDrive on macOS support the OneDrive Personal Vault on Mac?
I have thought about switching to the Mac more than once in the last say 10 years and as Microsoft introduced new collaboration features and security features (like OneDrive Personal Vault) I have not made the switch
I am now with better reason thinking of switching to the Mac because my laptops are coming up around 10 years old and one can’t run Windows 11 because it doesn’t have a TPM
The battery in the laptop without the TPM doesn’t hold up well I might or might not have ruined the display of the laptop without the TPM by accident I also might or might not have dropped the laptop without a TPM and the chassis might or might not have a crack or 2 and I also might or might not have 2 broken keys on the keyboard of the laptop without a TPM
On the laptop with a TPM I recently had the hard drive upgraded to a SSD and the RAN upgraded to 8GB and the guy who put in the SSD and installed 8GB of RAM was able to get the laptop with the TPM to run Windows 11
On the laptop with the TPM though I AM HAVING TROUBLE OPENING my OneDrive Personal Vault in a “Windows environment”
When I attempt to open my OneDrive Personal Vault in a “Windows environment” I get an ERROR CODE 0x80070057 and I have LITERALLY TRIED EVERYTHING FROM REPARTITIONING THE DRIVE TO REPLACING THE DRIVE
    NOTHING WORKS
Thanks for taking the time to answer this question

I don’t have a Mac (yet - I’m in the same situation as you😀), but Vault works flawlesly on iPad, so I would be very surprised if it doesn’t work equally well on a M1/M2 Mac.

@@nickie_katharina_foenshauge I’m thinking the reason why I get the ERROR CODE on that particular laptop is a UEFI ISSUE

Actually Apple markets to lots of fields. In science publications, products are marketed to scientists. In business publications products are marketed to business people, quants, analysts, etc. Their website often features their products marketed to different vertical markets in the enterprise.
One of the sad thing about UA-cam reviewers, however, is that they have the most fixed myopic point of view of anyone “reviewing” tech products and they exist in one of the most impenetrable culture bubbles around.
They think products are only marketed to them. If Apple made a hammer they’d think it was supposed to only be for creative people using hammers. I can’t wait to see all the whining if and when Apple brings out an actual automobile!
I can see it now. “The Apple Car has over 600 horsepower but it doesn’t run Final Cut. Does anyone need this car?”
Not only that but they believe the only definition of Pro refers to “Pro UA-camrs.” On top of all this, they believe the only creative work in the world has to do with video editing. “I’m creative. I make UA-cam Videos.” Newsflash: Countless professions from Doctors to Lawyers to Military officers require far more creativity than the average UA-cam video.
It’s a big world out there, and the Apple tech reviewer who figures out they need to get out there and REALLY show how Apple tech is used, and can be used, is going to be huge.

Yes there are several features missing. In Powerpoint, I am unable to lock objects as the Lock function is not available on Mac. That also means that if an object was locked using Windows version, there is absolutely no way to unlock it on the Mac version...which is quite annoying as I recently switched to the Mac.....and I had to go to Windows to unlock objects on different slides before I could move or edit it in Mac.
