No u don't have to remove the valve cover.. in fact u have to remove the pump 1st .as he said

@@wayneleitch2118 hi..I bought the part but havn't replaced it yet..but to my knowledge you can replace itbquite easily without removing the cover..only access is limited but its just couple screws and hoses..
