I take my piggies every 3 months for a health check and nail clippings and everything at the LA Guinea Pig Rescue and they have on site vets there with X-rays and stuff and I love them! They are always so helpful with diets, bonding, literally anything. I’m blessed to live within 30 minutes of them because they do it for free, and X-rays are $75 and all my local exotic vets charge $75-400 just to see them :/ so I’m super blessed that they do that and make sure that you always schedule a health check.

Yes. They absolutely go above and beyond and care so much for these little animals. They even help with the fungal feet because they say it’s actual pretty common since piggies like to lay where they poop and pee, so they often give great tips and medicine to rub into their feet to stop the spreading. They even offer pellets and hay and hides for purchase too. Ughhhh I just love them! And love you and your piggies, they’re adorable!
I watch their their videos all the time but being in Minnesota means I have to do clipping and health checks myself. 🥰🐹🐹
Do I have to adopt from them to take my piggies? My vet is super expensive

I have a custom cage we built that is 3 feet by 10 feet with 6 girls currently. Two thirds is fleece, and that last third roughly is a tray with a couple inches of wood shavings. The hay is in the tray area, while the comfy homes are at the other end. I am hoping it's big enough for them, but I get to see them everyday as they are right behind my computer station. The daily interaction really is key for picking up on any issues or subtle changes for me. Currently I have 3 of my ladies fast approaching 5 years old!

I will say as far as vets, it's worth asking a vet if they would take guinea pigs even if they are not an "exotic vet". My pig had a lump in her throat and I asked my vet where we've taken our cats for years if he'd see her and he said sure. He gave her a successful surgery to remove a tumor for less than $200, it worked out great!

Thank you for a very important video! I think a lot of people just don’t realize how much vet visits can cost. One of my piggies got sick during the weekend and I had to take her to the emergency vet. I had to pay $300 to even see a vet and then $250 for an ultrasound, $100 for a urine sample and an extra $40 for the medicine. A total of $690. Important to have money saved up for your pets 😅

I don’t remember Henrietta giving birth when I was a kid. But I did see a video in adulthood of a guinea pig giving birth. The birth itself seemed quite untraumatic for her. One squeezes out, she eats the goo off him, another squeezes out, etc without any screaming or other signs of distress. I was rather surprised, given that human females seem to have quite a different experience.
I don’t know what “little horny Toledo” means, but David was probably glad to be one back in the day.

I’m just thankful I have at least one piggy that loves human affection🥰 so he gets a lot of it since almost all my other prefer to be left alone. David will actually come to his door and scream at me to pay attention to him🐹😂🥰 he’s so funny.

It took me four tries to find a good exotics specialist and we have to drive an hour to get to them. And you're right, they charge $100 just to secure the appointment. 😬

At the end of Dec. I adopted a bonded pair from the local humane society, Beetle (all black) and Cocoa(Chanel)(all browns). My previous piggie Bailey passed last summer. I’ve had many consecutive pugs and a few lived 8-9 years. It’s funny how the new ones have different likes with food. One like strawberries the other doesn’t. They love romaine but too much softens their poop. Carrot ribbons and cucumbers are loved but kale and peppers not so much. Oxbow Simple Rewards hearts are very welcomed. I’m training them to wheek when I whistle and stand on their hind legs once in awhile for treats. I must be doing ok cuz then run around popcorning in a big playpen. 🥰🐹🐹 great video. My advice is handle them a lot and touch paws, ears and bellies.

I feed my two unlimited romaine cucumbers bell peppers carrots Timothy hay and pellets they got vets asa I notice anything I love them I hope I can get them to live to 10 years and I’m not buying alfalfa hay ever again. And cilantro as a treat which happens a lot cause scream for it and follow me up and down the 3 cages if I hold out on cilantro

Yes Ma'am I live in your area too, and my vet charges $89 just to walk in the door with a guinea pig.

I used to go there when I had 2 pigs then very quickly had to switch🙃 we go to Locke Taylor now then glen allen animal hospital location. It’s $15 to walk in the door. Much more practical for my wallet when having 8 senior pigs

$15?! I need to move there… the cheapest in my area I’ve found is $61 a pig for a check up, and the veterinary teaching hospital near me is $145 a pig😅

Hi Sarah...I just watched another of your videos about the piggies outside in a new enclosure....my question to you is about flea inhibitors...a pet food shop told me, to never use flea drops or flea baths, but instead to use 'DiatomaceausEarth' which is an all natural fossil shell flour. It is digestable for my girls but will kill any fleas. Have you ever heard of this, and what your thoughts are . Thankyou...love your videos

Hi! We go to Locke Taylor the Glen Allen Animal hospital location. They just never changed the name once they took over that location. Dr. Lynch is amazing. She has piggies herself🥰 Fin and Feather is where I go when I don’t order things online. But I do mostly order their food and such from chewy bc one of the pellets I buy they don’t sell at pet stores. Hope this helps!💖✌🏼

Nothing is better then fresh vegetables because it has antioxidants and micronutrients that they can't get from pellets.

We have one vet but they said they would to guinea pigs witch is really weird they normally don’t expect lime exotic animals so our normal vet we take our dog to they said they would take pumpkin
Saskia says guinea pigs are never too fat no matter how big they get. Obesity doesn't exist with guinea pigs. ????
Water bottles are actually better to use because guinea pigs will poop in their bowl. I think people group rabbits and guinea pigs together because its better for rabbits to have bowls.

My Guinea pig died Dec 8 2021 bc I went out side for two minutes and I didn't realize I left my door open and at the time one of my dogs were a inside dog and he got ahold of my Guinea pig like took him like a toy and brock his neck is it my fault???

@@GuineaPigJungle Oh wow! I've always been disappointed how we do not have any guinea pig rescues here in the area. I would like to have guinea pigs sometime in the future. But I always feel it's such a shame that there are no guinea pig rescue or enthusiast groups here in Richmond whom we may coordinate "playdates" with to ensure newly-adopted guinea pigs would get along with existing ones.

Lucky as the charges are very low that is 65 cents (literally 0.65 dollar)
Unlucky as he is not an exotic vet but he claims that even though he does not know much about Guinea pigs and only about rabbit cat dog and not more than that

My boys get veggies 3 times day morning,dinner and basically a midnight snack I call it I also give my boys filleted water under my watch they have never ever had tap water my almost 2 year old male American short fur he will let you touch all over him and give piggie kisses but his little brother almost 1 year Abby he will run if you touch him that's fine but he will take food out of my hand and Smell my hand ....
