  • Ned rigs have been blowing up lately. There is no doubt that ned rigs put fish in the boat. Bass, Pike, panfish, you name it, this rig will boat it. That said, a ton of competition has cropped up around this awesome fishing lure. Today we compare some of the top competitors on the market to see which bait has the best action underwater.
    Ned Rigs Compared:
    - Z Man T.R.D and SHROOMZ jigs: shopkarls.com/catalogsearch/r...
    (Karl's bait and tackle) shopkarls.com/catalogsearch/r...
    - Googan Baits Rattlin Ned: shopkarls.com/googan-baits-ra...
    - Swagger Tungsten Ned Flanders Jigs (my favorite jig): swaggertackle.com/flanders-ne...
    - Strike King Ned Ocho
    - X Zone Pro Series - Ned Zone
Our comparison took into account buoyancy, action and durability.

Zman hint: Zman plastics can take a little while to gain buoyancy. If you stretch it a few times, the material gets air in between cells and immediately become super buoyant.

Nice comparison. My son and I use the Ned Rig , mostly Zman, for about 80% of our fishing. It just does the job. One tip, use a small dap of crazy glue to attach the lure to the mushroom head. Keeps it in place the whole day, even after multiple strikes, catches.

I'm absolutely a ned rig convert. I've tried it occasionally in the past and caught a few but I never really committed to it for some reason. Today changed that. I was at my favorite lake using my standard baits and was having very little luck. I switched to a z man june bug ned rig and killed the smallmouth the rest of the day. The only reason I stopped is because that lake is really rocky and I lost the few jig heads I had. Just stocked up and I'm ready to go again.

I know I’m quite late here but zman has actually come out and said that you should pull the plastic up and over the hook keeper and that that will make the plastic stay on the hook keeper super tight, but no matter want you do the trd will stay on forever. They also recommended putting a very small dab of super glue to connect the trd to the head, but I don’t find that necessary and don’t do that.
