As a die hard river tube fisherman this video is basically spot on.
I would add, even smaller lighter tubes if nothing is working.
Also, larger tubes with light light heads to really let that bait coast around.
Sometimes, bigger tubes with tiny weight allows you to literally let the tube basically drift, allowing the tube to work FOR you, naturally.

OMG.... You talked tube jig fishing.... I'm gonna need a minute to compose myself.... ahhhhh. All good now. I started fishing a tube roughly 1990. Long list of caught species both freshwater and saltwater.... hands down my favorite bait to fish is a tube. From 30 fow to zipping it along the surface. 1/16 oz tube head in a 4 inch white or pearl tube. Retrieved quickly with rod tip high popping it so the tube breaches the waters surface simulating a fleeing baitfish. Killer on schooling fish both freshwater and saltwater. Lady fish and Jack Crevalle's love this retrieve. Thanks for the vid.... LOVE TUBES!!!! lol...

If I’ve been on a Senko bite and I need to change it up, for what ever reason. Try going with a weightless tube. Depending on the tube, but most are heavy enough to cast weightless. Just fish it like a weightless senko, and if it hits the bottom, give it a pop on slack line and let it fall again. Anyways just a different way to fish a tube

Great video on tube bait retrieves. I would like to add that a Carolina rig using a 1/2 ounce egg sinker, 18 inch leader and dont forget using glass beads. Great technique using on the Mississippi river. This can be used as a fast retrieve with popping action from the rod. If the bite is slow i slow it down and use a longer stroke as you did in the video allowing the bait to flutter down. I use 3 1/2 inch tubes with a 2 O hook. Thank you and best wishes on upcoming tournaments.

I like to take a pumpkin colored tube jig and a craw trailer bait and break off part of the body of the craw and rig the tub on a jig insert head with the end of the craw on the hook stuffed up in the tube. It essentially looks like a crawfish crawling out of a tube jig but I think it really mimics a molting craw and I just drag it on rocky bottoms. It consistently produces some of the biggest bass I catch all year.

Perhaps the hardest part of tube fishing is detecting the strike or pickup. Keeping tension to the tube is key. The biggest fish can be the hardest to detect, sometimes it’s just a slack feeling when it shouldn’t be there. This is a hard bait to learn as you really need to commit to it, figure out the rigging and presentation and work hard with it. If you go back to more familiar baits you’ll never really learn how to fish the tube. When I learned, I committed 100% and was skunked many, many times before I figured out the system. Or find a guide who really knows how to rig and fish it and learn from them.

Nah, the best way to fish a tube is to imitate baitfish and keep it off the bottom. One of the greatest tubers on YT agrees with this that instead of mimiccing crays, they are better as fish. For the crays, there are better lures. The right tubes draw strikes using a dying action through the water column. Did this very very well against livebaiters. They key is the right tubes and setup (rig). Tubes will get you down where the fish are without hitting the bottom....where many lures cannot.
