    Cant believe Minoa was able to not only survibe getting pancaked but then turned the tables and HELD BB DOWN. Insane stamina and will power. That entire time he had to keep the squeeze on him and he outlasted him.

      Severely overweight people (a la butterbean) have a hard time rolling over. If you are large enough you can keep them down with good technique. Then it's just a matter of draining their stamina which happens faster the larger the body is.

      @@justaneditygangstar If memory serves, he was only given a couple months to train it max, I think a single month. All things considered, his wrestling is decent, but I think it would take a really long time to correctly use all that weight as an advantage, rather than just immediately becoming exhausted.

    One thing I really want to emphasize is after the match was over, it looked like Minowa wanted to help Butterbean up. There was a true sense of sportsmanship here between these two and I really admire that. It seems to be lost in the modern trash-talking era of professional fighting.

      Open weight aside Pride rules are so just much more entertaining. The cooked ruleset UFC uses favors BJJ as as technically skilled as it is it makes for boring matches.

      @@stevepalpatine2828 the one thing I don’t like about modern ufc/mma in general is that there are no more distinct styles anymore (from what I’ve seen). Now it’s just “mixed martial artist vs mixed martial artist” instead of something like “Muay Thai vs kung fu”.

      @stevepalpatine2828 24 дні тому +1

      @@part2jotaroandpals567 I know what you mean, I think thats an inevitable consequence of the sports though. Fighters want to win, way back around UFC 1 and before you could see stuff like a Muay Thai guy vs a Judoka, but as people started to find out what worked and what didn't in their various styles it was inevitable they would evolve. Cut the fat, as it were. You take what works and discard the rest.
      It would be good to see for example a TK guy vs Kung Fu though. Some of those early UFC fights were great. What happened though I think the ruleset gave BJJ and grapplers an advantage so you started to see more of that, untill eventually everyone was incorporating it.

      Freeze frame it. One hand "blocked" one foot, the other is directly on his eye socket/forehead. And that kind of "block" isn't how you block a kick, so it wouldn't even matter, but regardless, it is literally center mass of his face unblocked@@vegetablackpotato4700

    At first i thought he was stupid for trying a drop kick the second time. Obviously he was ready for it.
    But then i realized he wanted it on the ground and that was the safest way.
    He brilliantly lured him to the ground in order to avoid the punching power, then reversed him and arm bar.
    Brilliant moves
