I've got the same kit (welded) with a mason rear x brace and reddish plates and all akg poly bushings in my M3. did the whole thing over the course of a week. Vince is awesome and offered lots of advice and support
Cool project. Some advice for you. Before you try to drill out spot welds. Like your seat bracket. Use a center punch to mark the center of the hole. It also keeps your drill bit or spot weld cutter from walking all over and slipping out of the center. Next before you start sanding and grinding the paint for your epoxy. You want to use acetone or brake cleaner to clean up all the spray lubricant you used while drilling metal. If not your surface will be contaminated with oil and nothing will bond to your bare metal no matter how much you sand.
Those Candy Vince gives are little cars. They are not bad. Kind like a marshmallow but different. Guess is a Sweed thing. Vince is great. He’s Super helpful. He answered all my questions and he was willing to sell me just the extended studs because I’m a fabricator and was easier for me just to make my own setup. You definitely wanna weld these in. Don’t bother wasting time with panel bond. It will fail in time like panel bond does when it gets old.
I'm sure this kit does a great job of preventing cracks, but there's just too much hacking up of the car. I will do it IF my car develops cracks. For now, it just the subframe reinforcement brackets and shock tower brace.
Then I better check mine, I have a 2005 E46 and I’m concerned since I do hear a clunk sometimes. However, this clunky sound comes from the right front when I move forward or in reverse but not always. Thanks for the heads up!
U could of use a angle bar 4x6x3/8 where the cross brace and welded a 2 inch round tube on the strut towers and tie it all together with round tube to the button angle bar to get better resolutes and yes a little more work to do it. No body flex using angle bar and round tube.
We has to reinforce the rear as well. We made our our reinforced brackets and welded them in. I would also recommend you do an m3 diff. If you haven't already. Great videos tho, keep it up.
Hi Jason...I think that’s your name..but anyway ..several wagon tool sales have a inexpensive set of sockets that will drive all tap sizes using a 3/8 ratchet.....really works great for just what you were doing
Hey, Selena - thanks for filming this, gives me a closer look at what I'll have to be dealing with ! I'm going for a 330cd and it'll get remapped to 300bhp for starters, so lots of torque (around 500lbs-ft) and I'm kind of worried the car's RACP panel won't handle it without any sophisticated bracing/reinforcing, Redish plates+ CMP bar with fronts or Vince bar with fronts/ Mason Engineering's X-brace and etc. Have you inspected the car recently for any new cracks that might have appeared elsewhere or any side-effects from the bracing ? Would appreciate any feedback, thanks ! :)
This is making me sure glad I chose an E39 and not an E46!.....not sure I could be bothered with all this work just to make the chassis stay in on piece! lol she must really love her car.
Thanks for the video! First one I've seen for a thorough look at the VinceBar install. When do you guys plan on posting a follow up video on ShopLifeTV?
The real question is why did Bmw sell a vehicle that they knew had a weak subframe?A weak subframe and the s54 inferior rod bearings would've surfaced during testing. The fact that they sold defective vehicles leads me to believe they dont test their vehicles or they do test knew about the problems and unloaded junk on their customers.
I’m just wondering, did BMW reinforce this area in later E46 models? I think only early models had this subframe problem right? Please let me know if this is correct. Awesome video!
They only put foam in them, which helps, but is far from the comprehensive solution of this. The 330s can break with the foam, but it isn't all that common, depends how well the driveline has been maintained, probably wheel size and suspension stiffness. I have a 175k, 99 328i, it only had one tiny crack.
I need help I have BMW X5 2002 3.0 E53 I don’t have pressure on rear brake I change brake hose bleeding the system i change the abs control module and nothing just i have pressure on front brake
A year late, but not really, they settled a class action lawsuit by saying they would inspect and fix affected cars (within 1 year of the settlement date), it prevented the need for a true recall. They did repair it with a mix of metal weld ins and structural foam.
Instead of cutting it out for good couldn't you have notched and then rolled the edge behind the tire compartment also? I'm no expert but I figure that way you could get a better fit.
Reinforce your brains for thinking Bmw is a good company.I've never seen so many people happily buy defective cars and love them.If you didn't know about the subframe failure or the rod bearing failures apologies, but if you knew I have a fountain of youth.
My Subframe was cracked i put some mud on it and sold the car..Life is to short to do all this work... new bmw are bullshit never going to buy a bmw again plastic engine parts with all that heat and oil come on bmw
Much cheaper and much more reliable is to buy another E46 in good condition. I'm not sure how safe and reliable a car with a cracked subframe can be at all to put this much work in it.
Cracked subframe is common problem with e46. Many have been repaired. I had all my e46's reinforced before any cracks started. It's a must if you abuse them.
there's two types of kits weld and epoxy. A lot of people prefer epoxy since it has a greater contact patch and it puts less heat stress and potential warpage.
Selena are you located in North Carolina and Jason is in California? Great video on the Vince Bar. I think a lot of people were waiting for someone to do a video on the install. Thanks!!
Staged! The trunk carpets were already unfastened and just kinda put back in place so she could remove it on camera. Showing that doesn't really help someone as they can't see what is needed to remove hose carpet pieces. I guess it was only meant to look good on camera and not be informational. If so, might as well add some more eye candy.
I've got the same kit (welded) with a mason rear x brace and reddish plates and all akg poly bushings in my M3. did the whole thing over the course of a week. Vince is awesome and offered lots of advice and support
Jason Bover is mason x brace alone not enough?
i would always weld over epoxy any day! especially to strengthen and tie in the read Sub frame issue
Smooth is Fast! Do it then. That’s why both options are offered. Not everyone owns a welder or has experience
This channel makes me want to work on my e46. Keep it up!

Finally a new video! I got a 93 325is coupe project because of your vids. You inspire!
You kids rock if I was in Cali def bring my car to you guys. Big fan of the work y'all put in. Much success
Yes!! You are back! :)
Selena, any news on where to purchase this kit? We need to make this repair soon. Thanks for the great content...

Where can i get the same reinforced kit
I'm sure this kit does a great job of preventing cracks, but there's just too much hacking up of the car. I will do it IF my car develops cracks. For now, it just the subframe reinforcement brackets and shock tower brace.
Glad your back
I think you should have tapped from bottom to top, so that newly tapped threads properly align with old thread.
Where do I get this Vince bar???
YAY new video!!!!!!!!! was waiting, you finally uploaded. Thanks for the content!
Where did you buy the kit from? can you share a link to the sales web page?
Do you have a link for this kit...i might need to reinforce my subframe...great video
Then I better check mine, I have a 2005 E46 and I’m concerned since I do hear a clunk sometimes. However, this clunky sound comes from the right front when I move forward or in reverse but not always. Thanks for the heads up!
Dude get your lollipops replaced and check your subframe.
If I was going to all this trouble I'd weld it, that way it's guaranteed not to fail.
just dont buy a defective from a deceptive company.
Would this eliminate the need to using plates in the rear and prevent prior cracks from spreading? Just curious on your thought
Yeahhhyyyy finalyyy a new vid😍👌

What is the brand of the strut bar? If you may, please include the info in the description in the future :)
I love your attitude and your smile, but I love the BMW more. 😊
Me too lmao
We has to reinforce the rear as well. We made our our reinforced brackets and welded them in. I would also recommend you do an m3 diff. If you haven't already. Great videos tho, keep it up.
Yea I am putting in a m3 diff but thank you :)

very cool. different from other subframe reinf ive seen. interesting video!!
This is making me sure glad I chose an E39 and not an E46!.....not sure I could be bothered with all this work just to make the chassis stay in on piece! lol she must really love her car.
Hey just a quick question. Can you post site for ordering Vince bar.
Good stuff. I look forward to the follow up.
Thanks for the video! First one I've seen for a thorough look at the VinceBar install. When do you guys plan on posting a follow up video on ShopLifeTV?
How we can get this kit reinforcement rear subframe BMW E46?
The real question is why did Bmw sell a vehicle that they knew had a weak subframe?A weak subframe and the s54 inferior rod bearings would've surfaced during testing. The fact that they sold defective vehicles leads me to believe they dont test their vehicles or they do test knew about the problems and unloaded junk on their customers.
build it😂
I’m just wondering, did BMW reinforce this area in later E46 models? I think only early models had this subframe problem right? Please let me know if this is correct. Awesome video!
No they did not

I hope you bought a quality rivet gun. Nothing worse than fighting with chicom crap in the middle of a job.
i think mig welding those metals that you cut to make it stronger, and weld those plates instead of rivets and epoxy...
Can't wait to do this in my M3 ! subbed
Where is this Vince Bar available too be purchased??
Tip for next time you use a tap is find a socket that fits it and use your rachet.
Sometime to get more clearance you can use a socket and an extension with you tape set up.
I need help I have BMW X5 2002 3.0 E53 I don’t have pressure on rear brake I change brake hose bleeding the system i change the abs control module and nothing just i have pressure on front brake
A girl working on a car wearing nail varnish... 👍🏼👍🏼
Just out of curiosity how much would it cost to have a shop say shop life tv, do this swap?
Perfect just the video I needed
Been lookin for a video about this
"Bilar"(Cars) best candy ever
Love that shirt. Do you have it available for sale?
Would never let this dude touch my car 😂

How much would you charge to do this to my m3.. I am in san Diego.
Great video keep up the good work
Mind posting the VIN of this car so nobody ever buys it?!
Where did you buy your kit?
www.zhpmafia.com/forums/showthread.php?18871-VinceBar-Sub-Frame-Reinforcement-Kit!
*very cool*
Didn't BMW do a recall on the e46s and did the structural foam?
A year late, but not really, they settled a class action lawsuit by saying they would inspect and fix affected cars (within 1 year of the settlement date), it prevented the need for a true recall. They did repair it with a mix of metal weld ins and structural foam.
Can you pls send me link where can i get this kit?
This kit is pretty comprehensive.
E53 3.0i best BMW ever built after this quality went way down
Yeah and the cayenne is the best Porsche ever built😂
will i need this if i already have a roll cage in my e46? welded bar across the rear strut mounts.
yes because the failure point is at the subframe mounting points
can you send me the link to purchase it, im doing an ls swap on an 05 e46 325ci body.
Wow, there's a BMW logo on back seat sound deadening ? Did not know that.
Nice Job !
Instead of cutting it out for good couldn't you have notched and then rolled the edge behind the tire compartment also? I'm no expert but I figure that way you could get a better fit.
I so wish you guys put a ls in a wagon
Yo can you do a video on ur interior? Like the headliner n stuff?
wait, you were seriously able to cut that sheet metal with that small dremel? LOL.
Love your videos, you forgot to give your shout out.
Where did you buy that shirt? I want one
Missssss youuuuuuuu :))))
Nice
Lol worst spotweld driller everrrrrr
Part 2 part 2 part 2 part 2..... :)
🙌👏👏👏👏👏👏
There my baby
Where have you bought your tshirt ? Also good to have you back at youtube ;)
All this to save trunk space? Mason X-brace FTW. Get the groceries with the beater, not the bimmer.
Tutorial on the suede???
Reinforce your brains for thinking Bmw is a good company.I've never seen so many people happily buy defective cars and love them.If you didn't know about the subframe failure or the rod bearing failures apologies, but if you knew I have a fountain of youth.
why would you epoxy when you can get a welder at harbor freight for like 200 bucks? Weld that shit brah. its not rocket surgery.
invisalign??? Selena, you already look perfect :)
love you
I had a jetta at one point...german...got rid of that thing
17:52 oh my gosh
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Donde puedo pedir esa barra???
Bilar is cars
You got car candy
This is definitely not as DIY-friendly as using welded reinforcement plates. Way too much metal cutting, drilling, tapping.
My Subframe was cracked i put some mud on it and sold the car..Life is to short to do all this work... new bmw are bullshit never going to buy a bmw again plastic engine parts with all that heat and oil come on bmw
Epoxy and rivets are not the way to go.
Lol glad ya gave up with the tiny grinder
we didn't lol it is still needed you don't want to cut the back section by accident
Different strokes for different folks
See you didn't need help with the spare tire this time lol
hahaha you remembered lol
what about a coupe
Chuckjohn12 I think mason x brace is better. At least for coupe. I need one for my m3
💖💖💖💕💔💔💔💓💓💓💋💋💋
Much cheaper and much more reliable is to buy another E46 in good condition. I'm not sure how safe and reliable a car with a cracked subframe can be at all to put this much work in it.
My subframe isn't cracked this is to prevent it from happening. Especially with the added power the LS will bring
It makes sense :-) I'm curious though, why you don't like the restyle version, it is so much better in terms of build quality. Or is it just me :-)
Cracked subframe is common problem with e46. Many have been repaired. I had all my e46's reinforced before any cracks started. It's a must if you abuse them.
Why the candy was there lol?
Joel, Its just attention to detail! A lot of retailers are doing that now to show customer appreciation.
so many holes driled to your car selena...must be a hint from that guy ;)
Your making a mess of that
Follow the instructions and stop making up your own. A bit annoying.
There are none that was the problem so we were trying to figure it out.
quality of the work in appalling lol
you should learn how to weld
there's two types of kits weld and epoxy. A lot of people prefer epoxy since it has a greater contact patch and it puts less heat stress and potential warpage.

I said in the video they were already removed before. They are held in with normal push pins
give me a shout out 😉
Sorry i had to say it but "chicken legs".
Other than that great video hope to see upcoming videos. You guys are the best
