Another channel gave this update, but take a grain of salt as usual. The title is Wings of Fury, be warned, Cynder may not be playable. Release date is in November 2021. Let's wait and see.
I actually love Dawn of the Dragon a lot. I always wanted a flying mechanics in Spyro. I got used to the controls of flying and it’s never been frustrating to me because I started understanding the limitations. I also loved the elemental breath mechanics. Once you learn to take advantage of them, it can be really fun. Better than in the other legend of Spyro breath mechanics. I also like playing as Cynder more than Spyro shockingly. Not only does she have a cool design, her breaths are super powerful when you figure them out and upgrade them. I think the story can hit hard if you pay attention. I love the last scene. It’s neat and it’s also a visually pleasing game to look at. I like Spyro’s design best in DotD
Eternal Night i had since 2007 for the PS2 and it introduced me to one of my favorite songs in general "This Broken Soul" not to mention dark spyro when you unlock him is soo satisfying to use! So clearly i love the game so much!❤
@Sylvieboy72 I agree with your opinion. Also, I am shocked that Eternal Night has a lower Metacritic score, Enter the Dragonfly should be lower score. I just don't get it, Enter the Dragonfly was horrible. 😦
I've said this before, but I'd rather take Eternal Suffering (Eternal Night) over Enter the Dragonfly... because there is actually one nice thing I can say about Eternal Night despite everything in the game the story and what not... The ending theme, This Broken Soul and the creators did try (for the most part) to work with making a new sequel. Enter the Dragonfly is... What I'm about to say next is gonna be something that only Angry Video Game Nerd could describe it.... Universal had no idea what to do with it and basically made a bunch of different developers play hot potato with a steamy hot pile of sh*t and whoever was stuck with it had to finish the game. To some people, Spyro Enter the Dragonfly seems like a giant blunder "Oh there are other games, they revitalized the series after that screw up" and to several others it was like "No. Spyro is now in a coma because of that game. There's no way he'd able to recover after something like that." I'm of the latter and at least it seems like a miracle that they actually brought Spyro back.
Well I'll counter it with my opinion. At least Enter the Dragonfly tries to continue off of the original trilogy and has an okay OST despite it being from the legend who is partly responsible for the immaculate work of Spyro 3's OST. Meanwhile Krome Studios thought harder would be better in Eternal Night making it the most frustratingly bad game in the whole entire existence of Spyro. And since gameplay is the most important aspect of a game, I'm going to say EN is the worst one. Though one could probably find some merit in the DS port, Idk.
@@TheGravityShifter Fair points, but I think Enter the Dragonfly did more damage because it made Stewart Copeland quit Spyro up until he was brought back in for the Reignited Trilogy. It is a good OST, but not enough to save it from all the potential bugs... Eternal Night is hard, no question, but it is possible to beat it.. but you will lose a part of yourself trying to, but it isn't a broken mess and is still fully functional. Plus, it eventually got a sequel (albeit a different studio and not Krome) Still, we all have our opinions of each one. For me, I'm more of the mind of taking a hard game over a broken one.
@@ShahroozSmithNaturally it would do more damage because it wasn't just the first BAD Spyro game, but it was also the first one after 3 banger games in a time where Internet was a rarity in homes so you could only rely on Magazines and stuff for news. So one could say it's worse in terms of timing. Possible yes, but that doesn't make it stupidly bad in terms of the unfair levels of challenge. It was this way by design because there's also a lot more Healing Gems too. If I ever did play it again, I'd do it with Cheats lol. In an ideal situation, neither would be played. But if I had to pick, I'd sooner take a more broken game than a hard game. Because if it's broken, I know not to waste my time any further, whereas with a game that's unfair levels of hard would just be bad for your mental health if you tried to persevere. And that's coming from someone whose played and enjoyed From Soft games. They're hard but totally fair for the most part. EN is just artificial difficulty to pad out an already super repetitive game.
i just have so, so much love for A Hero's Tail - to the point where I really honestly don't see eye-to-eye with alot of peoples complaints about it. The worlds are all vast and awesome. I LOVE the transitions between them rather than just taking portals! Finding a grown over, rusty old elevator and fixing it up to take you up to a cloud citadel, completing a difficult platforming challenge to get over to a stained-glass dome sitting in the ocean and breaking it to find an old Atlantis-y ruin. Starting in a bright, happy dragon village and traveling through an innocent enough looking building that becomes a tunnel, that then goes deeper into the earth... and darker... and comes out in a lush but dangerous swampland full of crocodile people. The later worlds are less good at this, the differences between hub-world and level becoming vaguer, but they are still alright - especially when digging deeper and deeper into an active volcano leads you into a secret laboratory full of robots and high tech platforms, SUPER alien from the rest of the game's tone. The platforming is varied, challenging and fun. They give you alot of different tools to experiment with and they are all well explored. The mini games are on point for the most part - Sgt. Bird is at his very best - Hunter, Bart and Sparx are all sweet too... Blink drags on a little too long, tho. The writing was cheesy, but I've always found it endearing. Alot of the jokes hit me when I was a kid too - especially all the elders! My biggest gripe with the game is how empty it feels, how un-lived in. The grand royal castle in the Ice world has a beautiful Fox Queen in it... where are her subjects? The beach world has an otter surfer dude... where are his friends? There is a SINGULAR mermaid in the atlantis ruins, and ONE Hyena lady in the volcano world - where the hell IS everyone??? I think with A Hero's Tail, and perhaps Shadow Realm or whatever the DS game, they were testing the waters to make a larger childrens franchise... maybe even a TV show. The characters are all very suited for a simple morning Saturday cartoon, moreso than any other game... and I will always mourn not getting that. Its a goddamn miracle we got something so GOOD after Enter the Dragonfly, and I still blame that game for A Hero's Tail's bad reputation. The Original 3 may be BETTER games, and I love Spyro the Dragon (1) to death... but A Hero's Tail, in my heart, is right up there with them.
I played A Hero's Tail for the first time about two years ago, I can see why people would like it. It felt more like Jak and Daxter to me than Spyro. The worlds were pretty great, but the final boss battle was incredibly underwhelming. Overall, a good game, but not my preferred Spyro experience.
Nice list, I liked New Begining as well shame the legend games did not have a big budget, still sad what they did to Marks voice. Eternal Night I just remember being hard as heck and stopped playing.
I thought the same about eternal night at first..but then it wasn't..the only thing i haven't done since i last played it was obtain the green dragon heads for the magic bar!
Pretty spot on with my rankings! The only change I would make is putting "A Hero's Tale" into the 4th spot. I really enjoyed the semi-open world design and gameplay of that game even though the story, bosses, and side characters are very weak.
Surprised to see A New Beginning rank higher than Dawn of the Dragon, most people think Dawn of the Dragon is the better game, still, nice to see SOMEONE talking about at least one of those games in a positive way
I personally *much* prefer A New Beginning & The Eternal Night than Dawn of the Dragon. They have a better art style, atmosphere, soundtrack, artstyle and epicness. The combat and breath abilities (plus furies) feel *MUCH* more impactful! 😃
I remember to this day the feeling of playing Dawn of the Dragon for the first time (and I was playing co-op, since my friend and I lended the other Spyro and Ps1/Ps2 games to each other). Entering the Valley of Avalar there for the first time was BEAUTIFUL. It was fun exploring the areas and using different elemental breaths, and Guide You Home is also amazing as the credits theme (and I liked the ending too). It will always be a personal favorite of mine, although I would still put Spyro 1 as the best Spyro game overall. I just had bad experiences with Spyro 3 of the original trilogy.

Wow. People dislike Eternal Night that much? It was my favourite from the legend series. I loved the environments and the difficult bosses and being able to slow down time...
It's a ok game overall but the no invincibility frames, bad platforming in certain levels, and the bs boss fights that were just dodging make me think it's the worst besides dawn of the dragon and enter the dragonfly.
I guess I can get the appeal about the Legend of Spyro, but I am still convinced that Spyro A Hero's Tail deserves to be regarded as the best PS2 game in the series
Personally, Spyro 3 has the best levels in the trilogy, the best story of the original trilogy (and like by far), the best variety, and is overall my favorite in the trilogy. Also, Robotica Farm is legit one of my favorite levels in Spyro 2, which is funny after looking at this video.
I don't have much love for the Legend games, but recently I found some appreciation for Eternal Night. People seem to harp on its diffulty a lot, but that's exactly what makes it engaging to me. I like how brutal some of those fights can get, how utilitarian most of the spells are now, and how useful Dragon Time is during combat. I also like the bigger emphasis on platforming when compared to the first game, where I felt like I was just going from one battle arena to the next. There are even collectibles to find now, which instantly puts its levels ahead of anything in New Beginning. I agree the pirate section is a trashfire, but that's because it reminds me so much of the first game's design, with constant battles against loads of the same old enemies I've been fighting from the beginning of this series. I'm not saying Eternal Night is some kinda hidden gem, or an underrated classic, but I do think the hate for it is way overblown.
I don't understand the hate for the flying mechanics in DotD. Yes, of course it was limited; Spyro and Cynder were chained together and on top of that you needed walls to keep an endlessly flying dragon in bounds. I was a child when I played DotD and it took me a while, but once you got the hang of it the flight mechanic wasn't terrible at all. Flying over the riverbends and grassy fields felt awesome.
Dude, I couldn't disagree more with Eternal night. It's literally my favourite Legend of Spyro game and maybe even favourite spyro game. It improved on combat from previous game, story is very good, the music is great especially in the tutorial levels (which I love the most because of environment), and it's not as easy as new beginning (that was just toooo easy and boring, but still good) and gives some kind of challenge. And the ending, especially after the credits always gives me goosebumps. The atmosphere of the whole trilogy is perfect and it's only game so far for me that made me cry, literally. And the biggest kicker? I started playing legend trilogy in DECEMBER, 6 months ago for the first time. And I just came to LOVE it. Sorry, I don't agree with many of your points. Funnily enough, I equally disagree with your Crash games list. So, we certainly have VEERRYY different opinions with these franchises.
I was as impressed as you my dude, Eternal Night was the one i used to come back the most and the one i had the more fun with. But well, that trilogy was kinda underrated imo, just a new aproach to the character, and an actual story i got really engaged with. The problem is people didn't like what they did with their favorite purple dragon, me included, but after giving it a chance is something i enjoyed a lot. Don't lose hope, ps2 trilogy fans still out there
@@nagustronex Very similar approach. I also though they totally basterdized them characters, but after giving it chance, I came to love that trilogy. First time I played any spyro game was 2015 (hero's tail), year later I emulated original trilogy and last year I bought reignited. And you know what? Only in december I decided to buy original Legend of Spyro trilogy on PS2 and I just love it. So my Spyro experience and LoS experience is a short one, but I love those games. I'm still trying to finish eternal night (for 2nd time bc I missed some collectible) and then it's definitely over... Glad there are some PS2 fans.
Very cool, dude! If I had to rank the games, they would go like this: 1. Spyro: Year of the Dragon 2. Spyro the Dragon 3. Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage/Gateway to Glimmer 4. Spyro: A Hero's Tale 5. The Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning 6. The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon 7. Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly (Was bad, but had enough barely good to not be last) 8. The Legend of Spyro: Eternal Night
Ya know, Dawn of the dragon was my favorite Spyro game, followed closely by Spyro: Ripto's Rage. I actually loved the flight system, I really enjoyed the overall story and the Leven design was incredible. Especially... what was it, the forest of avalon? I spent sooo much time just flying around there and listening to the gorgeous soundtrack! I really enjoyed the dynamics between Cynder and Spyro, too. I loved how much they TRIED to give the series new life in that whole trilogy, and attempt new things. It wasn't perfectly executed, but it was still pretty enjoyable.
That was a great video! But I disagreed a good amount and would like to put my own rankings below 1.Spyro: Year Of The Dragon 2.Spyro The Dragon 3.Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage 4.The Legend Of Spyro: Dawn Of The Dragon 5.The Legend Of Spyro: A New Beginning 6:Spyro: A Hero's Tail 7.The Legend Of Spyro: Eternal Suffering *cough cough* I Mean Eternal Night
I like the 3rd game more too as it implements modern features which Spyro 1 doesn't. However, the drawbacks for the 3rd game being the soundtracks and the dialogs isn't a lot. I played Cynder as a mod, she works best in 1st game, a bit in 2nd game but then almost none in 3rd due to lack of voiceovers.
My list. S: Spyro 2, Spyro 1. A: Spyro A Hero's Tail. B: Spyro 3, Eternal Night, A new Beginning. C: Dawn of the Dragon. D: Season of Ice, Season of Flame. E: Shadow Legacy, Enter the Dragonfly.
I’d take Eternal Night over A New Beginning every and any day, ANB is literal tutorial after tutorial and every level is designed after the element you just learned, it never feels like the game ever starts Eternal Night has issues though it’s my personal number 2 best, but at least it treats the player as competent, levels are unique, bosses are more unique, challenge is there, etc
The Sorceress is probably the most evil, yes, probably even more evil than Ripto (given her speech about killing baby dragons) but I still enjoy Ripto a lot more as a villain. Better personality and far better boss fight too.
Ripto barely does ANYTHING meaningful in the story, and not a single NPC outside of the hub worlds bring him up as the cause of Avalar's problems. It doesn't help that his personality boils down to just getting frequently angry. Gnasty Gnorc motivates the player decently, and the Sorceress is a proper character with the best facial expressions, the most variety in emotion and delivery, and the most impact in the story. Who cares if the main character interacts with the bad guy if said bad guy doesn't do complete jack in the story?
@@ultrairrelevantnobody1862 I've always felt like Gnasty Gnorc was a boring antagonist In my eyes but I get why you would say that since the the n.p.c.'s bring him up by name & mention how much of a general douchbag he is.
Me too. Better combat, deeper story, more varied puzzle elements, epic boss battles. Although from me it's not nostalgia. My childhood was with the OG Spyro games.
Interesting watch! My rank order would have been totally different, but that may likely be because I was a latecomer to the Spyro games. I've always had an Xbox, so my first Spyro game was a Hero's Tale, and it's still one of the more memorable games I've played. I actually loved the whole Legend of Spyro series, but that's coming from someone who didn't get to play the more original Spyro games until much, much later.
Year Of The Dragon was my favorite personally. For me the level design was the best, the same for the soundtrack. Spyro 2 and 1 were also great, but some missions in 2 are really boring and i not a fan of the supercharge in 1 or how Spyro controls in this game. 3 feels the most varied, ambitious and refined, similary to Crash 3, and i love it. Spyro 3>>>>>>>Spyro 2=1
For me it's 3 by far, 1 then 2. I agree with all your points, but I think Spyro 2 had quite a few weak stages I'd never touch again and the overworld layout was ridiculously bad design compared to 1 and 3
@@iKickBullies Totally understandable! For me Spyro 2 was also great compared to 1, but i can understand why some people didnt like it.... the pacing is terrible sometimes.... 3 is by far the best, i agree ;)
Spyro 2 made me appreciate Crash 2 so much more. That I can confidently say on a critical level is superior to Crash 1, and it actually challenges the player as clunky as it can often feel.
@@sebastiankulche Spyro 2 has you replaying almost an entire stage when you come back, which is just poor game design. But yes, the backtracking in Crash 2 is really bad.
I know this might actually physically pain some people, but when I was young (like 4-5), I considered Enter the Dragonfly the “real” Spyro. Like, the first trilogy was the “old games” and ETD was the better one. Then between ages like 7-9, I started considering Year of the Dragon as the “real” Spyro. Looking back on it now, I can’t believe how much I didn’t know. Like for example, I just thought ETD was a REALLY difficult game, I didn’t even realize it was extremely buggy l
Wooow didn't expect that final decision. But I can compare the Pirate ship from The Eternal Night with the Boat Arc from Naruto Shippuden. Suffering. Hahaha that scene of you doing the Chronicler and Spyro voice was a great parody. "Stop simping for Cynder" X'D I don't think he simped for her but it's funny to see it that way. I agree with this list. It is honest, accurate to experience, and for once has another game apart of EtD in the last place. Nice video! PS: A New Beginning is the best Legend of Spyro game and seeing it that high on the list is a sweet surprise, but it's hard to beat the classic.
My list starting with the ps1 classics from best to worst 3 1 2 Reignited trilogy Gba games Heroes tail Legend of spyro series Skylanders Spyro DS Enter the dragonfly
I really truly agree with you CGE. I love Spyro 2 ripto’s rage! It’s my favourite game in the whole series! I love getting the permanent superflame breath after getting 100%! It’s just so satisfying I think!
I agree 100% with the order for the top 3. But as for the rest, my order would be: 4 - Hero's Tail 5 - Eternal Night 6 - Dawn of the Dragon 7 - A New Beginning 8 - Enter the Dragonfly
Definitely going to make my own list. I have been wanting to do a ranking of a video game series for a while. Spyro Dishonored Borderlands And other games
I remember playing Enter The Dragonfly when I was young, then fully completing it not to long ago and yes I know the game was rushed, but in my opinon I love the soundtrack and the uncut soundtrack as well.
Strange I found the 2nd trilogy actually fun. For me the 1st one was the weakest actually, the 2nd was most challenging but it wasn't buggy like the old spyro games. I once even rage quit when I fought Ripto because the controllers simple keep freezing when I smashed the jump button to fast. The 3rd was actually my favourite because of the flying mechanic. I actually fell like a real dragon in that game. Perhaps I should give the original trilogy a new chance now that it's remastered. I assume the controllers won't freeze anymore.
My rankings, including handheld & spinoff games: 1. Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage (Spyro 2: Gateway to Glimmer in UK) 2. Spyro: Year of the Dragon 3. Spyro the Dragon 4. The Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning 5. Spyro: Shadow Legacy Honorable mention: The 2005 McDonald's toys 6. Spyro: Season of Ice and Spyro 2: Season of Flame 7. Spyro: Attack of the Rhynocs (Spyro Adventure in UK) Dishonorable mention: The Japanese localization of Spyro the Dragon 8. Spyro Orange: The Cortex Conspiracy (Spyro Fusion in UK) 9. Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly I've never played A Hero's Tail, Eternal Night, Dawn of the Dragon, or any of the Skylanders games.
Spyro Eternal Night made it way too easy for enemies to kick your ass especially how often they dogpile the crap outta ya. You also had to keep slowing down time to constantly avoid being a punching bag.
My favorites: best to worst: 1-Spyro 3 2-Spyro 3-Spyro 2 4-Spyro DotD 5-Spyro EN 6-Spyro NB 7-Spyro HT 8-Spyro EtD Yeah, I'm weird i know, but i like a challenge and the combat was more skill based in Eternal Night
I have my set of issues with the Flying Races, but worse of all is fighting against Ripto. Call me a noob, it's the controls are terrible when you're flying as it has no invert mouse option.
i legit only want Eternal Night because i want to fulfill my edgy childhood wish of playing as Dark Spyro because i saw someone say there was a button code that let you play as him, i dont even know if its real but my child self needs this wish granted, one way or another
also dawn of the dragons can sit in shit for fucking up mark hamil's lines wtf if wrong with you to get fucking mark hamil and reverb him into next wednesday
The trolley is one of the few genuinely good Spyro 2 minigames. It's a side-game you have to learn and play competently, it's an actual game unlike most of the other side-games which are just tired, boring fetch quests.
@@ultrairrelevantnobody1862 Hmmm, understandable. I personally dont like it since you have only one hit and is somewhat long to complete, but fair enough. I like the sense of the speed though, just is a little unfair sometimes.
The trolley is like Mega Man. Very difficult, occasionally unfair, but getting it down feels insanely satisfying. Then you have the rest like herding cows and feeding a snow leopard fish that is just as enthralling as watching an episode of Peppa Pig. Even some of the PS1 Rugrats games have more interesting side-games, and those are for bloody todds.
@@ultrairrelevantnobody1862 I dont like Megaman too much except X8 and Megaman Zero, but anyway what i tried to said is that im not the kind of people who like extremely difficult games. Side quests in Spyro 2 some of them were very padding like, i agree, but others werent that bad. I prefer that kind of missions in Spyro 2 than the levels with the supercharge in Spyro 1 for example.
Well, I never played the ones after 3...maybe Enter the Dragonfly, but I don't recall. You pretty much matched what I was thinking with the first three! Ohhh, I did love Ripto's Rage, but the first one gave me such grand memories and new adventures to enjoy that they ARE pretty close together for me! Plus, I agree about the music in the first Spyro...you can't go wrong. XD Dark Hollow...LOVE!
The only point I feel the need to comment on : Imagine, for a second, that you have a sibling who recently got away from their abusers.... NOW take that, have the same abusers KID NAP your sibling, and threatening their life if you don’t intervene to save your sibling... THAT was Spyro’s reason for leaving the Chronicler in Eternal Suffering.... while I agree with you on the other points about this monstary that calls itself a game, that one isn’t represented as it actually happened... also, I have Misophonia (hatred of certain sounds) and the birds on the pirate level trigger me so THANK YOU for NOT showing them or playing their audio!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Over time I actually grown to like Spyro the dragon the most (spyro 3 used to be my favourite). the level design and exploration is the strongest out of all the og games. Spyro 2 and 3 never got levels like wizards peak and tree tops, it never holds your hand like the other two and lets you figure out how get all the collectables. the mini games never gave me that satisfaction then finding the dragon one my own when I replayed them. I love all the console spyro games and I'm very nostalgic to all of them from the og series to the los trilogy, replaying all of them over and over again. My first spyro game I got for my birthday was spyro enter the dragon fly when I was 3 and I was already playing the og series.
I much prefer to play Spyro 3, but I can understand someone's favourite being Spyro 1. It's a fantastic game, it just loses my attention after a while.
I'd argue the biggest issue with Spyro 3 is it's complete lack of focus. The 4 companions alone should have been striped down to 2 just so they could get more refined move sets and level designs. Let alone the sheer volume of unique mini games that suffer from balance issues. Perfection is a lot of little things done well, and Spyro 3 just had too much going on.
I 100% am on sync with this list! If I would make a list, I would make it just like this. One thing that I just want to point out though, and its not a disagreement, its a perceptive: The cutscene with the Chronicler does seem silly, but the purpose it's trying to convey here, other than seeing the opportunity to be an exposition and backstory dump, is that history is already written. He's a magical Chronicler, if he has seen and dotted down the future, than it cannot be changed. Our main character, Frodo the Dragon, has a compassionate heart who sees the good in others. Him going to the place where it's written to erupt, is risky and foolish. But, he wants to rescue the person who he sees good in. So, he does go and rescue, despite the fact. This is Character Flaws 101. I just want to highlight the meaning of this cutscene, because I want to show that it's not written terribly. CGE has his perspective, if this is how he'll see it, from what he described in the video, than that's his and I won't drag on his ankles any further. It's just his opinion and his alone.
I grew up with the PS1 and the original Spyro series. Absolute gems. But, I don't think Dawn of the Dragon gets the love it's supposed to. It was different and fun and in my mind is the actual "reboot". There were some minor annoyances, but every game has those. Interesting mechanics changing between Spyro and Cynder, elemental breath, puzzles, fun gameplay, and the awesome Fury Breath that was essentially like a rage attack. Lots of memorable stuff. Besides, who doesn't love Elijah Wood?
You should have included the GBA games: Season of Ice and Season of Flame. Those games had their issues but they felt to me much more like the original trilogy and I had a lot of fun with them as a kid (though I'm not sure how well they would hold up today).
lol, spyro eternal night was the first game i played front to back then i played dawn of the dragon the both only ones i played so far and i though eternal night was a great game with great mechanics
I think so too. The only thing I hated were the lack of checkpoints. I never found all quills and whenever I missed 1 I had to play the entire game again
I think so as well, the game was fun and challenge for me. I never had that much fun with any other game. Though i must admit that it has its flaws...but so do other games :D
Shockingly I have a soft spot for eternal night. Given that I hadn't played ANB I was surprised at how they'd changed up the combat system. Also, the fury ability IMO, is the best in all three Legend games. Whilst the time decrease ability was kinda clunky, I appreciated the effort to diversify the gameplay. ETD on the other hand was and still is a sloppy, bug laden, truncated mess.
Spyro 1 is my favorite, possibly because it was the first Spyro game I ever played, the most nostalgic, and the coolest enemies, best levels, best collectibles being the Dragons, best chest designs which contains the gems, no Moneybags, and best music in my opinion, followed by Spyro 3 Year of the Dragon, Spyro 2 Ripto’s Rage, I won’t rank the other games after the original trilogy though due to them being not as good in quality, and less fun overall, at least for me.
I put spyro 3 and legend of spyro 3 at the top of my list. My favorite isYear of the Dragon because the number of playable characters and vehicles kept it from feeling too repetitive. Even the music is distinct from world to world, and there were fewer times the songs stood out in the first two. Cons: I forget how many of the garbage challenges were in this vs Ripto's Racist Rampage, but the mushroom stomping Sheila level had me swearing like a sailor. Dawn of the Dragon gets the second spot because it scratches the itch of "Subspace Emissary 3D" in a way that DMC: Devil May Reboot never quite did. The variety in the movesets, the cinematic presentation, and the LOTR-esque soundtrack had me locked in. Cons: Christina Ricci is has never phoned it in this bad, quicktime events are jewish, they should have picked a lane with how flying works, some challenges are impossible without leveling up and figuring out how to shadow-stun enemies to claw at gears and hold a door shut, and the Hermit hallway deserves an actual surgeon general warning on the game's box. If this game wasn't heroin in my veins the other half of the time, I would have snapped the disc on day 1 and plotted to minecraft the devs' pets. My third favorite spyro is Ripto until I play more spyro games.
"Stop simping for Cynder."

"People don't forget!"
Yes i 100% agree. One reason u didnt said is, it has a co-op mode. I played it sooo much with my brother back than.
The Eternal Night was actually my favorite, because It’s the only one that provides a real challenge in combat.
💀
Plus, it eventually got a sequel (albeit a different studio and not Krome)
Still, we all have our opinions of each one.
I’m amazed you didn’t talk about the gameboy games of Spyro, their great. Maybe some day.

Spyro Orange:
@@sander303 We don’t talk about that
For gameboy, I've only play Season of Ice and Season of Fire. And the unmentionable Crash Bandicoot/Spyro crossover games

True.
i just have so, so much love for A Hero's Tail - to the point where I really honestly don't see eye-to-eye with alot of peoples complaints about it.
That Chronicler conversation killed me. Lmao!
The chronicler:stop simping on Cinder
Spyro: ok were just friends?
Nice list, I liked New Begining as well shame the legend games did not have a big budget, still sad what they did to Marks voice.
Eternal Night I just remember being hard as heck and stopped playing.
Yeah, Eternal Night was a lot harder all of a sudden. You really need to know how to use the Dragon Time mechanic
11:35 Better writing than in the actual scene 11/10
That “stop simping for Cynder” part killed me though XD
11:35-11:58
This one is funny. Mr. CGE made me laugh. LOL 😂
I've never tried Spyro, not yet, but it looks interesting. Also, keep up the great work!
Me too
I’d recommend it
Recommend you give it a try, and if you want to play it again, you can play as Cynder with Sin La Sainte's Cynder voice.
Where have you been? Play it
Surprised to see A New Beginning rank higher than Dawn of the Dragon, most people think Dawn of the Dragon is the better game, still, nice to see SOMEONE talking about at least one of those games in a positive way
I personally *much* prefer A New Beginning & The Eternal Night than Dawn of the Dragon.

It's a ok game overall but the no invincibility frames, bad platforming in certain levels, and the bs boss fights that were just dodging make me think it's the worst besides dawn of the dragon and enter the dragonfly.
it's bad and you should feel bad
@@brent8407 Thanks bro. I love all of the TLoS series. The only thing I didn't like is that I never found all Quills, and there are no checkpoints 😥
I like all 3 LoS games, even Ethernal night because its challenging and you don´t just beat bosses by pressing X repeatedly.
"...but Eternal Night? I would need to hit a million."
Spyro fans, you know what to do!
Oh,Happy Spyro Community Day,Canadian Guy Eh! ;D Also awesome Spyro the Dragon video game ranking video too! ;D
Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon was awesome although the quest line did remind me of Skyrim with the Dragonborn DLC but still a good game.
I honestly thought more of the God of War games
Who in the dev team was watching Joe Dirt and thought "Oh yeah David Spade makes a good dragonfly"?
I don't know but it obviously worked IMO.
If I had to rank the games, they would go like this:
1. Spyro: Year of the Dragon
2. Spyro the Dragon
3. Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage/Gateway to Glimmer
4. Spyro: A Hero's Tale
5. The Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning
6. The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon
7. Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly (Was bad, but had enough barely good to not be last)
Behold! The greatest dragon that ever lived!
That was a great video! But I disagreed a good amount and would like to put my own rankings below
1.Spyro: Year Of The Dragon
2.Spyro The Dragon
3.Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage
4.The Legend Of Spyro: Dawn Of The Dragon
5.The Legend Of Spyro: A New Beginning
6:Spyro: A Hero's Tail
7.The Legend Of Spyro: Eternal Suffering *cough cough* I Mean Eternal Night
Dude...it is the same as me
I like the 3rd game more too as it implements modern features which Spyro 1 doesn't. However, the drawbacks for the 3rd game being the soundtracks and the dialogs isn't a lot. I played Cynder as a mod, she works best in 1st game, a bit in 2nd game but then almost none in 3rd due to lack of voiceovers.
I see you intentionally left one of the games off...
Good.
I agree completely
My list.
S: Spyro 2, Spyro 1.
A: Spyro A Hero's Tail.
B: Spyro 3, Eternal Night, A new Beginning.
C: Dawn of the Dragon.
D: Season of Ice, Season of Flame.
E: Shadow Legacy, Enter the Dragonfly.
No way you think AHT is better than Spyro 3??? The minigames in AHT make me lose my mind LOL…
@@Jroobelucios I do. Better levels, better alt characters, better soundtrack.
@@VanpyroGaming0 yeah, fair enough. I personally can't stand Blink! I like the open world of AHT, but its just not the same to me I suppose.
@@VanpyroGaming0 AHT doesn't have Buzz though
I’d take Eternal Night over A New Beginning every and any day, ANB is literal tutorial after tutorial and every level is designed after the element you just learned, it never feels like the game ever starts
Eternal Night has issues though it’s my personal number 2 best, but at least it treats the player as competent, levels are unique, bosses are more unique, challenge is there, etc
Spyro enter the dragon fly is like the sonic 06 of Spyro games
While yes these games are bad and glitchy, That is what makes us come back. It is hilarious to see
That "Stop simping for Cynder" segment was beautiful.
The Sorceress is the best Antagonist in Spyro (to me)
I don't think so, she doesn't interact with spyro until the end fight. Ripto is definitely best villain
In OG Spyro, yes, but overall, I gotta give that to Malefor
My ranking:
1. Spyro 3
2. Spyro the Dragon
3. Spyro 2
4. A Hero's Tail
5. TloS 2
6. TloS 3
7. TloS 1
8. Enter the Dragonfly
It's probably down to nostalgia brain, but I actually like the Legend trilogy more than the originals. I remember the music being really nice.
@@ultrairrelevantnobody1862 Unpopular opinion probably, but i think backtracking is much worse in Crash 2, since that involucrates also a bad camera
@@sebastiankulche
Spyro 2 has you replaying almost an entire stage when you come back, which is just poor game design.
Funny enough enter the dragonfly was the first Spyro game I played and it’s also my personal favorite I never really felt with the bugs tho
Wooow didn't expect that final decision.
But I can compare the Pirate ship from The Eternal Night with the Boat Arc from Naruto Shippuden. Suffering.
Hahaha that scene of you doing the Chronicler and Spyro voice was a great parody.
"Stop simping for Cynder" X'D
I don't think he simped for her but it's funny to see it that way.
I agree with this list. It is honest, accurate to experience, and for once has another game apart of EtD in the last place.

PS: A New Beginning is the best Legend of Spyro game and seeing it that high on the list is a sweet surprise, but it's hard to beat the classic.

Reignited trilogy
Gba games
Heroes tail
Legend of spyro series
Skylanders
Spyro DS
Enter the dragonfly
for me the one that i enjoy it the most back in the days was the heros tail
Have you tried the GBA versions of Eternal Night and New Beginning? They're very different mechanically.
I really truly agree with you CGE. I love Spyro 2 ripto’s rage! It’s my favourite game in the whole series! I love getting the permanent superflame breath after getting 100%! It’s just so satisfying I think!
I personally don't like Spyro 2. Very restrictive progression, and unimaginative level design.
13:06 the subscribers will remember that
My top 2 are Ripto’s Rage and Hero’s Tail because I grew up with them and love them to bits.
I agree 100% with the order for the top 3. But as for the rest, my order would be:
4 - Hero's Tail
5 - Eternal Night
6 - Dawn of the Dragon
7 - A New Beginning
8 - Enter the Dragonfly
Definitely going to make my own list. I have been wanting to do a ranking of a video game series for a while.
Spyro
Dishonored
Borderlands
And other games
I remember playing Enter The Dragonfly when I was young, then fully completing it not to long ago and yes I know the game was rushed, but in my opinon I love the soundtrack and the uncut soundtrack as well.
Really good ranking overall! I’m surprised you started with the best game and then started with the last favourite (2). Really awesome work!
Year of the Dragon was my very first Spyro game hence being my absolute favorite.
i havent really played spyro before, but seeing the community get togheter to celebrate like this is a really cool thing to see :)
seeing this, it really makes sense why I wasn't enjoying the other spyro games that much after playing Dawn of the Dragon first and loving it
Strange I found the 2nd trilogy actually fun.
Could you mod enter the dragonfly to make it better?
My rankings, including handheld & spinoff games:

2. Spyro: Year of the Dragon
3. Spyro the Dragon
4. The Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning
5. Spyro: Shadow Legacy
Honorable mention: The 2005 McDonald's toys
6. Spyro: Season of Ice and Spyro 2: Season of Flame
7. Spyro: Attack of the Rhynocs (Spyro Adventure in UK)
Dishonorable mention: The Japanese localization of Spyro the Dragon
8. Spyro Orange: The Cortex Conspiracy (Spyro Fusion in UK)
9. Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly
I've never played A Hero's Tail, Eternal Night, Dawn of the Dragon, or any of the Skylanders games.

Spyro Eternal Night made it way too easy for enemies to kick your ass especially how often they dogpile the crap outta ya. You also had to keep slowing down time to constantly avoid being a punching bag.
I liked that though. You could get combos with some elements but the mechanics are kinda weird

2-Spyro
3-Spyro 2
4-Spyro DotD
5-Spyro EN
6-Spyro NB
7-Spyro HT
8-Spyro EtD
Yeah, I'm weird i know, but i like a challenge and the combat was more skill based in Eternal Night
Spyro Enter the Dragonfly on Gamecube has way less bugs and glitches than on PS2. It made me appreciate the game a lot when I was younger.
What about the GBA games like Attack of the Rhynocs? Where would you put those in the rankings?
I totally agree with this. My list:
Spyro 2
Spyro 1
Spyro 3

I have my set of issues with the Flying Races, but worse of all is fighting against Ripto. Call me a noob, it's the controls are terrible when you're flying as it has no invert mouse option.
Oof. Anything > Skylanders
Man never in my life did i ever wanted to dislike a video so much and fast before until u started talking about the Legend of Spyro Trilogy....
Robotics farms is actually one of my favourites from the original trilogy.

I'm sorry I had too much trouble with the trolley to enjoy Spyro 2 as much as Spyro 3, so Spyro 3's my favorite of the trilogy.
x2. That mission is really bad. The trolley trolls you XD
''Flying'' LOL😆
Let’s hope spyro gets a true fourth game and let’s also hope crash isn’t a dead series

I WILL WHEN I'M DEAD!
A New Beginning at 4 is actually crazy
*I like books.*
💜SPYRO ROCKS!!!💜
I grew up with the PS1 and the original Spyro series. Absolute gems. But, I don't think Dawn of the Dragon gets the love it's supposed to. It was different and fun and in my mind is the actual "reboot". There were some minor annoyances, but every game has those. Interesting mechanics changing between Spyro and Cynder, elemental breath, puzzles, fun gameplay, and the awesome Fury Breath that was essentially like a rage attack. Lots of memorable stuff. Besides, who doesn't love Elijah Wood?
Spyro!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes a Spyro video
You should have included the GBA games: Season of Ice and Season of Flame. Those games had their issues but they felt to me much more like the original trilogy and I had a lot of fun with them as a kid (though I'm not sure how well they would hold up today).
how fast is Spyro at maximum running speed in Spyro the dragon 1 on PS1 in miles per hour?
6:21 HA!! A reference to "BLAND WONDER BREAD"
lol, spyro eternal night was the first game i played front to back then i played dawn of the dragon the both only ones i played so far and i though eternal night was a great game with great mechanics
I think so too. The only thing I hated were the lack of checkpoints. I never found all quills and whenever I missed 1 I had to play the entire game again
I think so as well, the game was fun and challenge for me. I never had that much fun with any other game. Though i must admit that it has its flaws...but so do other games :D
whats the track starting at 11:14
Geez, and I thought Sonic the Hedgehog was the only video game franchise that fell from grace in later years! Lol
Happy Spyro Day!
Where would you place the GBA games if they were to be in this list? (Season of Ice, Season of Flame and Attack of the Rhynocs)
Guys get CGE to 1 million subscribers so he can play Eternal Night again!!!
*laughs nervously*
