Just wow, this must've taken ages considering the huge amount of levels and then put them order. The clear effort that has been put into editing and visuals, as well as the script itself, of course, is amazing. Easily the best level etc. ranking that I've seen of Spyro, a very solid and well-reasoned list. Marvelous and enjoyable video!
I cant even list my 5 favourite condiments, this is super tight! Love the effort you put into these despite mental health/financial issues being such a big part of your life recently. I really mean that too, dude, you're one of my favourites from AUS on the platform
Main problem is how they made the underwater sections so dark in reignited making me enjoy those levels way less. But I can agree with them on how a water level is done right
Yes, I hated Aquarius towers, I definitely don't agree with it being ranked so high, but that's the great thing about spyro, there's something in every game for everyone to enjoy and we may not all agree on what the best level is but we can all agree that spyro is a great franchise that needs a proper polished 4th game
I'm surprised you didn't transition from talking about how they butchered Bentley's character in Gloomy Glacier into his first appearance in Bentley's Outpost. Could've been a nice lead in to number 98. Anyway, great video. Absolutely agree with your thoughts on Sgt. Byrd in Enchanted Towers.
This is very well put together, Jak. You have a very under-rated, under appreciated channel and I hope it grows greatly. You deserve much more subscribers and views. I would love to see a Ratchet & Clank version and/or Sly Cooper version, if you are so inclined and/or interested. What a great way for me to spend a quiet Sunday afternoon. Thank you.
Dang, when I saw the Legend of Spyro get so many low tier spots, I wasn't expecting Dawn of the Dragon to get so high. It also holds many impressive positions Best Boss Level: Destroyer Best Legend of Spyro Game(Seemingly not high bar) Best Non-original trilogy Ranking What an Underdog victory.
Fireworks Factory is my number one level. When I was 5 and first played this game. I remember the shock and awe I felt and I still feel that today. To me Fireworks Factory is what defined Spyro to me
Before I say what I'm going to, yes I know I am a year late, but just came across this video yesterday, and also want to say awesome job on the editing and production into the video, and that I understand these are your opinions about the games/levels and in no way am I saying your opinions are wrong. That being said, I can't say I personally agree with a lot of the opinions here. I loved the Blink levels in Hero's Tail, and a lot of the complaints you had with some of the levels in even the original games, I can't say I ever had issues with, such as the weird controls and lack of perspective. I also am a very strange player for things like these games where I spend just loads of time learning how the controls work and how to manipulate everything before I try to actually get into the game, so I never faced a lot of those problems. A lot of your complaints were valid and I can agree with, but I feel you put them way lower than deserved. A lot of this video really felt, to me, like you were shitting on any game that wasn't in the original trilogy. Especially when it came to the Legend of Spyro series. A lot of the visual issues you had could be solved by playing with settings in the menus and I feel you went into them expecting them to be like the original trilogy, and had bias based on that. Like with the First Flight level in New Beginning, you said that it was stupid to call it that since Spyro had been flying since the first game, and even though you did mention it was the first in that series, that WAS Spyro's first flight for that Spyro, and it isn't fair to say "he's been flying since the first game" when that isn't the same Spyro from the other games. I feel you were overly critical of Eternal Night for the same reasons, and it felt really disappointing that it was the first game out and ranked as having the worst levels. I can't agree with the idea that Enter the Dragonfly had better levels than Eternal Night, which was, at the time, visually stunning and breathtaking from the very beginning. I won't continue the rant, and again, great job on the video as a whole, even if we disagree on a lot of the opinions.
The thieves guild race in attack of the rhynocs was the first gaming challenge to give me nintendo thumb, I thought I actually wrecked my hand trying to beat that unnecessarily tight race.
Awesome video Jak, been watching your videos for years and I’ve been on a binge of your Tony Hawk and Crash videos recently. Though I would argue that the enter the dragonfly levels are too high up. The level designs might be ok but they run at like 15-20 fps. That would make experience much worse for me, even if the level design was better. Always hated enter the dragonfly as a kid so maybe I’m too biased :P
Even after watching this video, I would struggle to rank my top 5 from the original Spyro trilogy, let alone 188 from the entire franchise! What an incredible task this was! Gnasty's Loot was better than Super Bonus Round for me. I thought Gnasty's Loot worked really well as a lap of honour for all you've accomplished, with Spyro *finally* being able to fly more freely outside of the Flight levels, scooping up gems from every corner while ascending to the top. Super Bonus Round was fine, but the minigames kinda detracted from the celebratory feeling that a post-game level should have. Not sure what the Sorceress was doing there, either. Mystic Marsh is my favourite level - it's really tightly packed with challenges that test exploration and speed, and that take you all across the level to areas you might have passed by the first time. I love that it never feels like pure backtracking. It looks beautiful, too. Those dang monkeys messed me up as a kid, but that only makes it more memorable for me now. The whole thing is a wonderful mixture of soothing and challenging. I was really glad to see the level in the top ten!
Genuinely would put Midnight Mountain at #1 for homeworld/hub areas, I don't think it's close. The design, the layout, the secrets, the music, burning Moneybags alive, THE MUSIC
Harbour Speedway soundtrack is only supposed to play in Harbour Speedway. It was a mistake in the first release, the greatest hit version has the proper tracks.
Stormy beach might possibly be my favorite area in that game. It just hit different then every other level for me and my first impression of it is unforgettable. I often like it when games dare to apply some empty space where it feels necessary.
Perfect video to multitask too tbh! Before I went into it fully though hearing you were covering TLOS I almost went "no I can't watch this now in fear of getting some of my fave games (rightfully) criticized." Super glad I'm sticking through though and decided not to listen to my worried brain pfft.
15 minutes into the video and so far it feels unfocused and underwhelming. Like, it was disappointing starting with shrugging off a handful of titles but for now I'm not even sure what this ranking even is, so far you've pretty much only thrown random tantrums or criticized gameplay styles which is essentially skipping more than 20 levels cause obviously it's not you ranking the levels but explaining why you don't like them and placing the entire play style in a single slot and then moving on. And nobody come after me for "hate", this is constructive criticism, I'd have liked a more thorough and neutral/no biases approach, that is all.
ah yes. luau island. i actually managed to softlock myself in the gamecube version of enter the dragonfly as a kid by.... talking to the pig who lets you into the level before i had the requirements to unlock it. there was no way to fix this other than erasing your save and starting all over again... somehow figured out it was because i talked to him early and just never did that again for any level entry NPC in that game
I remember those comical rant reviews of games and movies, but they take about ten minutes. Listening to someone scream over spyro games 30+ minutes is exhausting.
Man, I said on Twitter that Jurassic Jungle was my favorite EotD Level but man, I forgot how much of a high point Luau Island was. I mean, that's a high point that's less than mid-tier compared to the original trilogy, but, still, credit where it's due.
The most hated level I don't like in any of the Spyro games is Misty Bog. Those damn dragon eating plants freaks the hell out of anybody when you get too close and get eaten so quick.
Given your reaction to agent 9 in reignited, I was expecting you to give it a bit of a higher rank since he was "fixed", which is true, they did fix him
I actually enjoyed playing that game all the way through. The overall map was easy to remember and the areas were really memorable. And being a direct sequel of Spyro a hero's tail was cool as well. Sure the combat was more harder and frustrating than it needed to be but I enjoyed the challenge of it.
@@StevieJ3698 I honestly don't have an issue with the game's structure. Spyro wants to try and be an Action RPG? Okay, fine. But the soundtrack, painfully slow pace, drab graphics, and Spyro's absolutely pathetic starting speed and combat capabilities make it an absolute slog. The shameful usage of previous series areas in-name-only just makes it worse for me. I've tried to give it several more chances over the years but there's just nothing there for me. Which makes me sad to say. Nobody will ever be more upset that I don't like a Spyro game than me.
@@lightninstriker10 well I definitely could see Spyro taking on RPG elements, possibly similar to the Zelda Series as far as progression and exploration goes, other than that Shadow Legacy is a mess...
I actually liked that game, but everything else after that is booty... I HATED, (emphasis on this) *HATED* The Legend of Spyro: New Beginning game, they completely changed the open world hub worlds, and choice of choosing which level to do first into a LINEAR *FUCKING* GAME! YOU KNOW?! THE VERY THING THAT DEFINED THE ERA OF GAMES THAT THE ORIGINAL GAME WAS RELEASED IN?!?! Spyro is *NOT* a bugeyed bulldog, I mean I saw Spyro's Original concept art so, I get they were trying to go for that...but we had an established character with the same graphics, the same console, same face for *two games* ...there was literally no need to warp his face that hard... I never picked up a spyro game after that game...that was so bad and hard that I didn't even want to see the ending, and probably wouldn't even be all rewarding to finish... I am *hopefully* optimistic that the new Spyro Four that continues after the Reignited Trilogy, will serve what we all have been so sorely been missing...
@@StevieJ3698 I like how they took us back to Avalar and the Forgotten worlds too which included some areas that weren’t present in 2 and 3. (Avalar Savannah, another section of Lost Fleet)
Can we just take a minute to really appreciate how absolutely jaw droppingly phenomenal the original spyro trilogy's soundtrack was it's still Tuesday's breath taking how great the music was especially the homeworld music.
Although it takes these episodes a long time to come out, they are well worth the wait. A SERIOUS amount of editing and detail goes into these, but it gives me an insight to all the levels that I fully enjoyed and the ones that put me through pure dread. Whenever I replay one of the Spyro, Crash, and Tony Hawk games, I will go to one of your Every Level Ranked videos to remind myself what you said about the level XD.
Thank you for this! Only one issue I see so far is that it says Dark Passage appeared in Spyro 2 when it was actually in Spyro 1. Edit: Goodness, I screwed that up. Lol
The sky boxes in the original trilogy do so much for me. The combination of how objects and landmass far in the background lost their textures, blended in so well with the amazing looking skies. They were like paintings of wonderous lands. They offered so much to the mystical ambience of the original trilogy. Reignited on the other hand, did a good job with most of the sky boxes, while some they completely ruined. But reignited sky boxes overall are not as good, because the sky box aesthetic of the original games stood out so much.
@@Eminster Talk about making a huge assumption. I literally mention just one small aspect that I personally think the original does better. But to you, that somehow means I don't think reignited does anything better...
The skyboxes in the original trilogy get their aesthetics from the weaker hardware, they way they chose to make them gives them that hazy, natural feeling, it truly feels like you're in the realm and the skybox is miles away from you. Unfortunately, I don't think Reginited could've replicated this without breaking the artstyle a bit, but I think they still did well with the skyboxes in Reignited.
I still insist that Enter the Dragonfly had a lot of cool world designs from the conceptual phase with a really good soundtrack, but when it came to actually rendering those worlds in the game, it's a disaster.
I really felt what was said about how utterly empty some of the levels are in Enter the Dragonfly are. The thieves' den is such a cool concept, and the dialogue even demonstrates how unfinished the game is. One of the thieves in the level warns you to "watch out for the cleaners" in the water, and.... there is literally nothing in the water.
@@jeremychristiansen4582 The pigs on Luau island also recycle the same sound affects and voice as the Professor when they stand idle. This could suggest that the Professor probably was supposed to have appeared at one point.
I absolutely agree with the Blink levels at the bottom, I always dread them when playing Hero's Tail, and the Agent 9 stealth levels was the sole reason why I never completed Attack Of The Rhynocs, what a shame. As for the rest of the rankings, I'd say you were on point with them, even if the amount of levels to go through were insane. Here's to the next "Every Level Ranked" in the future, whatever it may be!
It is so weird to hear an Aussie call Spyro 2 “Ripto’s Rage”. I know that was the name in the US but in Australia and the rest of the PAL region it was called Gateway to Glimmer.
Yeah it's one of the strangest Region Differences I seen in a franchise, nothing as absurd as Contra in the PAL regions going with Robots, but non the less it makes discussing Spyro 2 a bit confusing to some....
@@bobafett4265 I get that, it just sounds odd. When I saw that the Reignited Trilogy had it called Ripto’s Rage in the PAL regions it made me a little sad.
Thank you for not just crapping on TLoS. I know that they're faaar from the best games, but most people seem to just toss them aside and call it a day. You gave them proper critique, and acknowledged what they did manage to do well. I appreciate that.
For how forgetable the Legen of Spyro trilogy is, I will always have a soft spot for Dawn of the Dragon. That game has some geniuenly memorable levels and I loved playing it with my sister when I was younger.Valley of Avalar is honestly one of my favorite levels in the entire series, I wish the entire game was built like that.
Same i think it was the best and memerable game outta the bunch but this dude really said oh i hate the game coz it has a challenge but when theres never a challenge at all the entire comunity complains
I love the story in LoS. With Cynder in particular actually being my favourite Spyro character (her "I love you." at the end of Dawn always gives me chills). Then the soundtrack is also really good (especially This Broken Soul and Guide You Home). But the gameplay is definitely not as fun as the original triliogy. Dawn has some good moments though (and I like the mechanic of Cynder and Spyro being chained together).
Gotta be honest, aquaria towers and hurricos were always eyeroll slogs for me on each play through. It’s all about your specific nostalgia and opinion though. Great list!
@@Dalton_Boardman2000 The level design is amazing, for me it had something magical seeing those gems far away on the island and not knowing how to get there as a kid.
As a fan of the Legends Trilogy, it did hurt to see two of its games knocked out first in the ranks, but DotD getting to fourth made me quite satisfied
I love Spyro 2, but yeah. Dragon Shores was a pretty underwhelming bonus after 100 percenting the game. I thought it would be way bigger than it was as an amusement park and kind of wish the Reignited trilogy had added more to it
Another solid ELR video Jak. I'm glad Spyro got his turn and I can't imagine how hard it must have been to rank all these levels. Now I had a feeling the games from TLoS would be the first to go. I know a majority of fans don't like that trilogy but I like it to be honest, maybe they're a guilty pleasure to me. I know this is going to sound crazy, but TLoS got me back into Spyro after Enter The Dragonfly killed the franchise for me. I'm being brutally honest here but I think TLoS is better then ETD. Though TLoS will never be as great at the original trilogy that's for certain.
I’m still yet to find myself doing something similar to this but not Spyro. If there’s something I do like about these type of videos he does Show he really cares about Putting all effort into it. He really shows me if you enjoy what you do best go for it
Thought I might have forgotten to do the whole "calculate the average" thing like I did with Crash, didn't you? Nope, I'm here, and going to apply that process to Spyro too! A quick refresher on my methodology: I am taking the ranks found within this video, averaging the results per game (counting grouped entries as the same number per each instance), then applying a negative three modifier per level to account for the "quantity" aspect of a game's quality. That means lower numbers are better, and negative numbers are masterpieces in comparison. Oh, and I'm NOT counting the ports of the Legend games, since those are... well, different games. With that out of the way: At #13 we have Spyro the Dragon for mobile, i.e. the Shadow Realm port, with an Average of 181 and a Final Score of 160! I don't think it's a surprise to see a mobile game at the bottom of the list, but at least it's not hugging the theoretical worst score like Crash's greatest stinker did! At #12 we have Spyro Ripto Quest, with an Average of 163 and a Final Score of 151! Having only four levels really hurt its final score, but not enough to make it the worst it seems! At #11 we have Legend of Spyro: Eternal Night, with an Average of 157.3... and a Final Score of 139.3...! These games also suffer from having so few levels compared to the rest of the series, but considering the ones we did get were almost all slogs, they still take quite a while. At #10 we have Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning, with an Average of 151.5 and a Final Score of 133.5! I honestly am divided on these games, as the story is definitely great, but the gameplay is a snoozefest. At #9 we have Enter the Dragonfly, with an Average of 124 and a Final Score of 88! Much like Wrath of Cortex, this was the game that came closest to the classics without really having much of their soul, leading to a downward spiral of abandoning the old mechanics and structure from an erroneous assumption that those had just grown stale, as opposed to not having been done well. At #8 we have... Attack of the Rhynocs, with an Average of 148.809... and a Final Score of 85.809...? That doesn't sound right... Then again, I DID code the achievement set over on RetroAchievements.org, AND it was my _first_ set ever, so maybe I'm a little biased. Still, barely better than Enter the Dragonfly, and worse than a Legend game?! Something's screwy... At #7 we have Season of Ice, with an Average of 142.652... and a Final Score of 64.652...! This at least makes sense compared to the previous entries, as its structure is much more traditionally Spyro and is NOT a buggy product, yet it's still a GBA game. At #6 we have Season of Flame, with an Average of 128.5 and a Final Score of 62.5! This also makes sense, as it's basically just like the first GBA game but a bit more polished. At #5 we have Legend of Spyro Dawn of the Dragon, with an Average of 90.5 and a Final Score of 60.5! Yeah, this game sticks out like a sore thumb on this list, it really should be #9 instead. But that's the rankings I was given, so that's what we get for the results. At #4 we have A Hero's Tail, with an Average of 134.5 and a Final Score of 56.5! Definitely worthy of this spot in relation to Season of Flame, which just adds to my bafflement of Dawn of the Dragon getting between them like this! At #3 we have Ripto's Rage/Gateway to Glimmer, with an Average of 51.192... and a Final Score of NEGATIVE 26.807...! So Jak, what was that about this being the best game again? Because your rankings seem to suggest otherwise... Not that I agree with this spot either, I'd put it at #2 myself. At #2 we have Year of the Dragon, with an Average of 68.36... and a Final Score of NEGATIVE 30.63...! THIS is what I'd place at #1, ther's just so _much_ in this title! And finally at #1, we have the original Spyro the Dragon, with an Average of 62.36... and a Final Score of NEGATIVE 36.63...! While I personally consider this the weakest of the original trilogy, all of them being so close in the rankings is very fitting if I do say so myself! And there we go, all the Spyro games ranked based solely on the individual level ranks from the video! I've been waiting for this for a long time, and now it's finally over! Not sure if there's any other "Every Level Ranked" video I'd like to apply this formula to, but considering just _watching_ one of these takes more time than playing through one of my precious DKCs 100%, I certainly wouldn't put that much effort into a series I didn't truly love! Huh, DKC... that might actually be a good one...
Kind of surprised Spyro 2's average level ranking score is lower than 1 and 3, considering how much Jak regards 2 as the best despite it being a fundamentally poorly designed game.
Dragon Shores was the lowest bonus level (although they were all low) and Canyon Speedway the lowest speedway (although again they were all mostly middling, save for Wild Flight and Country Speedway). Shady Oasis was probably the deciding factor on Spyro 2 ranking so low in these metrics, with its placement at #114 compared to the next regular level from the OT on the list, Dino Mines at #76. I say that with Spyro 2 being my fave lol
What about every Zelda dungeon? It would require slogging through the inconsistent controls of Skyward Sword, actually getting one of the good versions of Twilight Princess (i.e. not the garbage Wii one), and enduring the ire of the fanbase as he points out that no, the Water Temple from OoT wasn't that bad, and no, Ocarina as a whole wasn't that good. Now I really want to see this, just for the salt in the comments.
@@StinkyDOODOOPFFTFARTSLMAOSHITT I understand him... I'd rather repeatedly step on Legos than control Ratchet in the first game... and I'd still play that game over anything post 2009
I've got a soft spot for Legend mostly because of Dawn of the Dragon. A New Beginning and Eternal Night are either boring slogs or extremely frustrating tests of patience, but Dawn is a much better structured game with some incredible levels. Although I agree that it has some of the worst levels in it as well. What was the obsession with pitting wave after wave of tough enemies at the player with so few resources to survive those encounters especially in the second game. Good to see Dawn's better levels get high rankings though.
Honestly, it was the atmosphere and vibe of the game that did it for me. The music and visuals were really awesome. Though watching this video really seems to highlight how goddamn depressing the game is. Mostly cause of the contrast of the other games, and even the previous games in the Legend series. They canned the goofy monkeys for these... creepy, soulless demon creatures. They got rid of almost all of what little bright and cheery aspects the previous games have. The narrative involves literal war and death, and the entire world being destroyed in a grim, miserably burning hellscape. With the sombre music and visual design really highlighting that grim aspect. I know the 2000s had a thing for edgy games (Dark Jak lmfao) but I think this is just beyond that. Its just straight up really god damn depressing. Like, almost Dark Souls level depressing I swear to god. They channel more depressing energy than Lord of the Rings. You watch this video and you go from the saccharine GBA games to Dawn of the Dragon and its like going from watching Fairly Odd Parents to a WW2 Documentary.
This video (film? movie? haha) was a complete joy to watch! 5+ months went into this one and you stuck through until the end, that level of dedication is incredible and you and everyone else associated should be very proud of what you guys made here. Definitely earned my sub, cheers. :)
As someone who genuinely enjoys the Legend of Spyro trilogy, I surprisingly found myself agreeing to a majority of your rankings. While I disagree with some of the rankings, I do agree that Eternal Night was not my favorite. Also, I wish you took more account for the music in the LoS trilogy. It's beautiful and it's one of the many reasons why I fell in love with the trilogy. It just breaks my heart knowing that a majority of Spyro fans don't feel the same.
Last week I was playing some spyro and thought to myself, "man I wish Square Eyed Jak ranked these levels too" and now here we are, can't wait to watch!
Funny how the universe works sometimes. When they announced the Nsane trilogy to consoles I said "now do Spyro!". Sure enough, not much later, the Reignited trailer came out.
i actually agree with a lot of this. aside from a few, such as Aquaria Towers. i think that level was one of my least faves from ripto's rage. but the general choices for ranks in this, is pretty solid, honestly
Agreed Especialy on revisits you had to do all the water again. And the camera could bump about. Still a great water level though. Especially the moment I discovered there's an entire upside to ir
I want to take the time to acknowledge how much work this must have been to play all of these levels, record them, rank them, and then think of commentary to say for each one of them. You've done such an incredible job with this! This is an amazing video!
I just realized that the small amount of levels, and all of them accessible from a single homeworld, Enter the Dragonfly could be perfect to be remade into a DLC for Spyro 4.
I know that a lot of spyro 2 levels were very well designed, I just wish they implemented a *reward* as good as the first games. The dragon saving feature was a stroke of genius, especially when you hear them rocking back and forth from afar, and seeing the fully scripted voiced interactions gave opportunity to see spyros witty fiesty nature. It was much more rewarding than... green orbs.
I never got that far. I accidentally did the torvul (torvel?) skip and fell into riptos fight as a kid. Which I think makes the whole thing worse. A small child. ACCIDENTALLY. Skipped the entire game.

Damn I was rooting hard for Skelos Badlands to be #1 but it was so close 😢 Amazing stuff Jak, thanks for your hard work!
Great video!!! Will watch this multiple times to take it all in
Those 5 months were worth it mate! Excellent video :)
Spyro 1 is my personal favorite. Its perfect with its simplicity with the right amount of challenge to it. Its my go to game for destressing.
Stormy beach might possibly be my favorite area in that game. It just hit different then every other level for me and my first impression of it is unforgettable. I often like it when games dare to apply some empty space where it feels necessary.
Perfect video to multitask too tbh!
Before I went into it fully though hearing you were covering TLOS I almost went "no I can't watch this now in fear of getting some of my fave games (rightfully) criticized."
Super glad I'm sticking through though and decided not to listen to my worried brain pfft.
Those Spooky Swamp haiku's were great btw.
I put this on to fall asleep to. (Yay insomnia!) Time to watch this properly!
Sometimes I forgot the GBA games even exist until this video. Let alone shadow legacy on the DS.
Got nothing to say but WOW - so I'm leaving a comment for the algorithm. Love your stuff!
I remember those comical rant reviews of games and movies, but they take about ten minutes. Listening to someone scream over spyro games 30+ minutes is exhausting.

That “diagnose my autism” line definitely caught me off guard lmao, nice.
Those damn dragon eating plants freaks the hell out of anybody when you get too close and get eaten so quick.
thanks youtube i don’t know why i was recommended this
Given your reaction to agent 9 in reignited, I was expecting you to give it a bit of a higher rank since he was "fixed", which is true, they did fix him
"Shadow Legacy is disqualified."
and nothing of value was lost.
Spyro is *NOT* a bugeyed bulldog, I mean
I saw Spyro's Original concept art so, I get they were trying to go for that...but we had an established character with the same graphics, the same console, same face for *two games* ...there was literally no need to warp his face that hard...

In translation: I'm a Spyro fanboy who can't admit when the reignited trilogy does things better than my precious original ps1 babies
@@Eminster Talk about making a huge assumption. I literally mention just one small aspect that I personally think the original does better. But to you, that somehow means I don't think reignited does anything better...
@@lilfuzzballa well the comment felt like it.
I like that, painted landscapes. Never thought of em that way then was like yea, you right lol.
I still insist that Enter the Dragonfly had a lot of cool world designs from the conceptual phase with a really good soundtrack, but when it came to actually rendering those worlds in the game, it's a disaster.
Also not having time to actually develop the game, honestly it's worse than Crash Bandicoot Wrath of Cortex, which is saying a lot....
@@bobafett4265 Wrath of Cortex is basicly inferior Crash 3... Not exacly a good thing but Inferior Crash 3 at least would makes a *decent* game
The game was a buggy mess but I enjoyed some of the levels. monkey Monastery was fun.

It is so weird to hear an Aussie call Spyro 2 “Ripto’s Rage”. I know that was the name in the US but in Australia and the rest of the PAL region it was called Gateway to Glimmer.

@@pizzapastaparty7997 Ehh that’s fine. Something about the level design and artstyle just strikes me like an mobile game.
@@ducko5404 do you feel like the artistic style ruined it for you?
@@WaffleEBay12 It a bit silly reason to not like it but I guess yeah.. kinda
Gotta be honest, aquaria towers and hurricos were always eyeroll slogs for me on each play through. It’s all about your specific nostalgia and opinion though. Great list!
Any of the underwater levels are so annoying imo. The only levels I hate doing when I replay them :p
Hurricos I loved for the battery thief section. I HATED the robots and mechanics. Aquaria Towers scared me lol
I’m glad someone else noticed that there’s adult-child relations in the love tunnel ride on Dragon Shores XD
Good list, good channel dude!
Me: expecting to see Tree Tops at no. 1.
Also me: sees wizard peak.
Also me: yeah, that's a great one as well now that I think about it.
Maybe I missed it... I don't remember seeing tree tops in this ranking actually. I wonder where it was.
@@clockthe Number 12
Also, it's not as hard I think
I found the level highly irritating. They really should've added those pick-up fairies from Magic Crafters.
I do agree I was afraid the trilogy was going to out before the remaining spyro before
I love Spyro 2, but yeah.
With that out of the way:
At #13 we have Spyro the Dragon for mobile, i.e. the Shadow Realm port, with an Average of 181 and a Final Score of 160!
Thanks so much mate! I actually look forward to seeing this every time a new ELR drops. 👍
Wow. Now that's impressive!
Kind of surprised Spyro 2's average level ranking score is lower than 1 and 3, considering how much Jak regards 2 as the best despite it being a fundamentally poorly designed game.
I was wondering about this exactly thing! Thank you for your service
Well we all know that if Spyro Magical Princess Fairy Ball Dress Up was counted, those levels would be _top_ of the list. :P
Don't even joke about that.....
I had no idea that Spyro Magical Princess Fairy Ball Dress Up even existed. I need to play this immediately
I looked it up. Nothing. What gives?
@@falconeshield Check his Spyro mobile games video.
I really want to see a ranking of all the planets from the Ratchet & Clank series. That would be another marathon ranking though.
He will never review the first ratchet game, it is a running joke on his channel
@@alaeriia01 the comment section would be more entertaining than the video itself

Appreciate it mate, cheers! 😁
Jak deserves an Oscar for Best Production for this behemoth of a video
Aww hell yeah! I was wondering when we'd eventually get one of these videos, but with every single Spyro level 😁 Thank you Jak 👍
Last week I was playing some spyro and thought to myself, "man I wish Square Eyed Jak ranked these levels too" and now here we are, can't wait to watch!
This is crazy
Funny how the universe works sometimes. When they announced the Nsane trilogy to consoles I said "now do Spyro!". Sure enough, not much later, the Reignited trailer came out.
You absolute madman.
Just having to play enter the dragonfly is tough enough.
i actually agree with a lot of this. aside from a few, such as Aquaria Towers. i think that level was one of my least faves from ripto's rage. but the general choices for ranks in this, is pretty solid, honestly
nah that level is GOAT

Still a great water level though. Especially the moment I discovered there's an entire upside to ir
I still want Spyro 4 so badly.
Gee nearly 3 hours, this is effort to content and it pays off, on the road to 50k subs! 👊
I want to take the time to acknowledge how much work this must have been to play all of these levels, record them, rank them, and then think of commentary to say for each one of them. You've done such an incredible job with this! This is an amazing video!
Well I've got a four day weekend anyway might as well obsess over a purple dragon
Down the dragon hole we go!
Midday Gardens underrated
Absolutely. Would always spend the most time in that hub grinding lives and launching the bunnies with the super flame power up
IT was my favorite Homeworld. ❤️
I just realized that the small amount of levels, and all of them accessible from a single homeworld, Enter the Dragonfly could be perfect to be remade into a DLC for Spyro 4.
Every upload is a nostalgic masterpiece.
Also knowing you are a Brah.
😃
Great to see a full level ranking of Spyro The Dragon! It’s one of my childhood favorite games. Great job with the level ranking, Jak!
Dark hollow was always my favourite, and that amazing soundtrack
What a fantastic list! Although Fireworks factory would have to be my number 1! Also yeah Desert Ruins is amazing!
It was much more rewarding than... green orbs.
It warms my heart seeing Spyro getting this kind of treatment ☺️
Idol Springs and Sunny Beach were my favorite levels 😄
Huge respect taking up this challenge. LOOK AT THAT RUNTIME!
"Every Level Ranked: Ratchet & Clank 1 - 3" when? :P
But no, this was yet another great effort, Jak. You should be proud! :)
Plus DeadLocked.
The graphics of the PS1 games are so pretty and incredibly charming! 😊
Crop Circle Country is *exactly* when I stopped playing Enter the Dragonfly. It’s spooky how accurate that was.
I never got that far. I accidentally did the torvul (torvel?) skip and fell into riptos fight as a kid. Which I think makes the whole thing worse. A small child. ACCIDENTALLY. Skipped the entire game.

I know it’s weird but I have a soft spot for the missions in Hero’s Tail. The music was always the best part. Completely understand the frustration behind them, but as one of the Spyro games I grew up with it is nostalgic for me.

I am so glad Dawn of the Dragon made it as high as it did. Even though is was obviously a copy of God of War, the game was super memorable and beautiful.
