Not only was high as balls, he was wearing the prosthetics for his legs backwards, which caused him incredible pain and damaged his legs, hence his hobble during the film.
This was hillarious. Especially your comments about how main characters come off as ungrateful douchebags-so true. And yes, the editing in this movie was so bad... but at least it was consistent with the quality of everything else about it LOL. Learning that the writer/director decided to make this movie over a bet, and thought that it would be easy, was just glorious. Keep up the great work. Would you mind reviewing "The Ninth Gate" next, please?
I have no clue how someone could get through this movie without the help of Joel and bots (or alternatively, the comic genius of Mike Nelson, Kevin Murphy, and Bill 'The Bald Boy' Corbett)
Both the MST3K version and the Rifftrax version are really good. I've seen both so many times that I can't even watch this without hearing the riffs in my head.
Even they had to apologize midway through the movie about how bad it was. Honestly this movie was what Dr. Clayton Forester was looking for - a movie to subdue the entire world with. This movie should have been the ultimate season finale of the entire series, where Forester wins.
@@The_Red_Ghost10 Your name reminds me of an even worst movie: Joshua And The Promised Land. It's one of the very few religious animated movies made by a blind and deaf man! Not quite as bad as Where The Dead Goes To Die but it's... well... Last time I checked it was on You Tube and I lasted 25 minutes. It's quite an assault on the senses, I tell ya!
A bit many people overlook is when the husband finally manages to force Torgo and his wife to stay at the house and they see the painting of the Master. What always cracks me up is how the husband says he hopes he doesn't run into the master or his dog. But he sounds so enthusiastic about it. Plus he fails to recognize that he personally just dragged them into that sh-t. Yeah, this is fine decision making on my part, let us just hope the master who doesn't approve of us doesn't unleash his hell hound on us while we are asleep. And the funny thing is that they can still turn back and drive off, but he doesn't give a sh-t.
Thanks for this review! At 16:55 I love the guy's eye-rolling - it really harks back to the silent movie era. And the beginning of the 'wife-fight' where they're sparring like the Sharks and the Jets. The movie reminds me of a series of short indie films I saw years ago, back when videotape was just becoming a thing, and they were just extraordinarily bad (out of focus, no plot, garbled sound, etc.)...but...they did get me to think about how we even define films - like, does there need to be some basic level of coherence and skill? Or is it enough that someone had an idea and a camera, and that makes it art?
This movie brings back memories. My first introduction to Myster Science Theater 3000 was this movie, which I watched with my boyfriend in his student dorm.
Kevin Gonzalez American Dad bro. Steve Smith was making crystal meth with a mexican dude and he thought "lavate las manos" was a harry potter spell lol.
I watched this movie during an online watch party with friends during a lockdown... I now hold the title of WORST MOVIE SUGGESTION. It was a mixture of uncomfortable laughter, eye-watering boredom and "what are we doing with our lives"....
This also had the MST3K treatment and it became one of the best episodes that show has to date. Also try to review Weasels Rip My Flesh one day if you can.
The cameras the “filmmakers” used were hand-wound and could only record 32 seconds at a time and couldn’t record audio. As a result, all of the actor's dialogue had to be dubbed in post-production (by like 4 people)
Ha they filmed this movie like 5 minutes from my house in El Paso TX, the scene in the convertible is overlooking “Scenic Drive” here and the street you see in the opening title “Manos” I literally lived on for years, there’s still some people here who know about the movie
Actually the guy who played Manos was friends with the guy who played Torgo & said he told him he wanted his character to be very skittish & figgidy, so the guy who played Torgo decided to drop 3 hits of acid an hour before filming his scenes so he would be in character. Lol. It's literally method acting on acid. Lol. From 7:13 - 7:23 u can clearly see those spasmodic effects that LSD has on the user. The way his face & upper body are constantly twitching are the classic spasmodic or "speeding" effects of LSD. Too dam funny. Reminds of another worst movie of all time 'Champagne & Bullets' where Wings Housers plays a 'wild card' type of character who's an alcoholic & so Houser decided that the best way to play a total drunk on film was to actually be totally drunk for all his scenes. Lmao.
One of the scenes with the mystery couple making out in the car you can actually see a clapper board on screen despite them using a camera that COULDN'T RECORD SOUND.
I did not know there was a documentary about this film! Is it true June Foray (Rocket J Squirrel) did the little girl's voice over and it made her cry when she saw it? 🤔
This was the best episode of MST3k. I laugh so much every damn time, even though I can basically quote it word for word lol Space Mutiny was another great episode.
This is comedy gold! I was saddened by the lackluster "Welcome back to the show" but I honestly have not laughed this hard in a while! Thank you Mark, you rule!
I have to admit I've actually always thought that the line. "There is no way out of here. It will be dark soon. There is no way out of here." Was actually probably about the most well-delivered line in the entire movie. In my mind, it carries a tiny amount of actual menace and foreboding.

I've never laughed so hard at a youtube video. I am crying from your commentary. I can't wait to show this movie to my friends with no context
Wasn't the actor who played Torgo high on LSD while filming this movie?
Would explain a lot.
Kei He killed himself shortly after
Not only was high as balls, he was wearing the prosthetics for his legs backwards, which caused him incredible pain and damaged his legs, hence his hobble during the film.
Close enough, it was mushrooms....
MrArgus11111 Yeah, and his drugs like LSD were the only thing able to suppress the excruciating pain.
@@MrArgus11111 good thing he had those incredibly necessary leg prosthetics though. They really made that character.
Took me many years to figure out why Torgo is walking that way. He's probably a centaur but it doesn't ever get revealed.
Apparently a satyr
@@KRobinson-ko1ne that's the term! I forgot
Honestly the premise and creepy atmosphere had potential and in the right hands (no pun intended) it could be something interesting 🤷🏻♀️
You know, you are right. Hollywood so obsessed with remakes. Why not take old bad movies that had a decent idea, and remake them?
Because the master would not approve
Or it'd be "Hands: el manos de destino"
Los manos del destino
Dylan Kaiser LAS manos del destino
madestmadhatter sounds actually way cooler
madestmadhatter las manos, no el manos, baaaaaaa
los pollos del manos
The way Mark pronounces "manos" haha. Nothing but love tho 😅❤️
If you're gonna watch Manos:Hands of Fate, the best way is to watch the MST3K(Mystery Science Theater 3000)version!!
The Legendary Lurch Logan or Rifftrax Live at least.
@@xenxander If they'd ended MST with Manos...that would've been great. Truly push Mike and the bots over the edge with this disaster
"What's he the master of?" Isn't it obvious? Disaster! Clearly. As well as also being the master of Torgo
This is hands down the worst movie I ever saw
Oh I c wut u did ther
First off, great pun, second, you Clearly never seen After Last Season, God help you
@@The_Red_Ghost10 Your name reminds me of an even worst movie: Joshua And The Promised Land. It's one of the very few religious animated movies made by a blind and deaf man! Not quite as bad as Where The Dead Goes To Die but it's... well... Last time I checked it was on You Tube and I lasted 25 minutes. It's quite an assault on the senses, I tell ya!
Apparently you haven't seen" back from hell" by matt jassie
I see what you did there. Lol
Pretty good 3 point turn, I see why it was kept in.
Love that Warriors shirt.
I can dig it. 😎
Come out and play.
Wasn't the end kinda weak and anticlimactic though?
you want your booze? you have to work for it!
I don't feel it was. it was cheesy how The Rifts found out who really killed Cyrus, but maybe they were going into the generation of happy endings.
Heathe
Brilliant video Mark. Your comic timing and delivery was spot on. Tears of laughter....
the girl who played Debbie just did a book about this film, and its great
D Barrett what is the book called?
Growing up with Manos
Nothing makes me happier than a new bad movie review
I just love your reviews!
Oh, and 10:38 is hilarious :D

You forgot "-I write 'oh hai Mark' in the comments"
Who needs a life when you have FanboyFlicks?
I laughed through this entire review.
Thank you.
This movie brings back memories. My first introduction to Myster Science Theater 3000 was this movie, which I watched with my boyfriend in his student dorm.
LAVESE LAS MANOS
vocalweeb That's the best spell.
Lavete las manos
What are you guys talking about? xD
Kevin Gonzalez American Dad bro. Steve Smith was making crystal meth with a mexican dude and he thought "lavate las manos" was a harry potter spell lol.
Ah ok, thanks :).

One of your best mark, well done. I was laughing my ass off the whole review. Mark got jokes.
I watched this movie during an online watch party with friends during a lockdown... I now hold the title of WORST MOVIE SUGGESTION. It was a mixture of uncomfortable laughter, eye-watering boredom and "what are we doing with our lives"....
I love how the nighttime scenes in this movie are just infested with moths which were drawn to the lights.
This also had the MST3K treatment and it became one of the best episodes that show has to date. Also try to review Weasels Rip My Flesh one day if you can.
It was a classic!
I think this MST3K spoof 🎬 actually had Joel turn, break character & apologize....
Your consistency pleases me.
I own this movie on dvd because I bought it as a joke present for a friend, and he actually gave it back. It’s that bad.
You should review the 1998 Avengers movie.
The one where Sean Connery wore in a bear costume.
John Reynolds' performance as Torgo is proof that you shouldn't act while tripping on acid.
Lmao.
@@flaccidego4291 Huh, no shit. Thanks for the info!
I get so exited when you upload can't wait for the next one
I'm sick and had to stay home from work. Your videos are helping me not want to die.
One of the scenes with the mystery couple making out in the car you can actually see a clapper board on screen despite them using a camera that COULDN'T RECORD SOUND.
Too bad the 2k restoration snipped the frames of the clapper board. That was one of the seminal moments in the film.
i have to go back and look (i stopped at 14:20 to read some of the comments).
I did not know there was a documentary about this film!
Is it true June Foray (Rocket J Squirrel) did the little girl's voice over and it made her cry when she saw it? 🤔
Just watching the few clips you showed was painful enough and you watched the whole movie. We don’t deserve you, Mark.
😂😂 I love it so much I had to watch it 10 times in a row so damn funny ur the best mark 😂😂
This was the best episode of MST3k. I laugh so much every damn time, even though I can basically quote it word for word lol Space Mutiny was another great episode.
One of the most underrated critic channel on UA-cam
Bless you Mark! I really needed a laugh today.
This is comedy gold! I was saddened by the lackluster "Welcome back to the show" but I honestly have not laughed this hard in a while! Thank you Mark, you rule!
It could be worse, the director could have chosen to make PEDOS, the feet of Fate.
I have to admit I've actually always thought that the line.
"There is no way out of here. It will be dark soon. There is no way out of here."
Was actually probably about the most well-delivered line in the entire movie. In my mind, it carries a tiny amount of actual menace and foreboding.
No wonder Torgo walks weird, its cause his back hurts from carrying the whole damn movie :)
I’ve seen Manos (MST3K or Rifftrax) at least 100 times. Seriously. On purpose. Daddy? What’s… VIETNAM? (Another great video… love your stuff!)

Laughed the whole time. Great video!!
That head scarf looks like shes wearing her knickers on her head
Mark what happened to your worst superhero movies/twilight series reviews? They’ve been my pick me ups after a depressing day for such a long time. My heart actually kind of broke when I couldn’t see them, after refreshing the page for ages in denial. Feels like the loss of a friend.
Can we be friends?
