As a fan of True Crime shows, I can say that Joel and the joke writer, are Dead on!! ;) It hits the nail on the head at a perfect time in the film and it sends a tine shiver down your spine. The "Cinnematography" is on par with the Zapruder film but there's something here, that makes me want to see what's around the next Corner... When the movie lacks that, the Riffing fits, just like 'the glove' should have!!! Take Care, Mon ami.
"Joel, this is going to turn into a snuff film..." I swear if Joel and bots weren't there at the bottom of the screen I'd be thinking the same damn thing.
I had taped it then, and sent one to a friend who was an editor in Hollywood. He duped copies and passed them around to other people in the industry. They were all dumbfounded, for the same reason.
Back in the day: There was no episode of MST3K that gave me that much anticipation to watch than Manos. When I finally got a copy, I was truly anxious to watch it. Long story short: It lived up to the hype. It's truly THE episode. And I consider Joel's "Every frame of this movie looks like someone's last known photograph" the MST3K GOAT riff. That's a powerful statement, especially when it's paired with this movie. Such an iconic episode!
Manos: the Hands of Fate has become Halloween tradition for me, particularly the MST3K episode. It’s seriously right up there with Its the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown for me!

I remember being a new fan of the show on the Sci-fi channel, not knowing much about the history of the series yet, and seeing this episode in the video store, figuring it would be a run-of-the-mill episode. Boy, was I surprised!
This is one of those movies that defines Mystery Science Theater 3000 and Rifftrax!! Torgo is like the Count Dracula of recognizable faces from the worst movies ever riffed by the Mstie crew!

I think the second the fact that the MADS apologized for sending this one to Joel and the Bots showed even they had limitations on how far they would go!
There are a lot of contenders for the title of Worst Film Ever Made, quite a few even covered by MST3K, but I don't think you can argue any other film is worse by every metric than _Manos._
Reminds me of the home movies I made with my brothers; minus Torgo, the Master, the weird cult vibe, the odd Wives, the dog, the creepy house, the vacation, the car, the endless drive, the couple making out..anyway.
It did premiere at a theater in El Paso. The legend is that only one limo could be rented, so it was driven around the block to pick up and then drop off the "stars." After its premiere, it did play in some drive-ins in west Texas and New Mexico. (Source: Wikipedia.)
Manos has perhaps my all-time favorite riff. “ every single frame of this movie looks like someone’s last known photograph.”
It was for Torgo's actor, unfortunately.
And the certainty that the Mads had sent them a snuff film. 😂

Seconding that. Heck, even with that nice HD workprint restoration, the riff still holds up!

What happened to "Torgo"?
"Joel, this is going to turn into a snuff film..." I swear if Joel and bots weren't there at the bottom of the screen I'd be thinking the same damn thing.
This is the one movie I've found on imdb where no one has any connections to Kevin bacon.
I have been to the filming location outside El Paso. I have walked the same ground as Torgo and The Master; it was a religious experience.
We're you chased off by a cult? 😂
@@mousetreehouse6833No, they joined a cult.
“DO SOMETHING!” will live rent free in my head for all time.
“Okay….what ABOUT the Valley Lodge??” is the one I think about often. It felt so genuinely exasperated
Forrester and Frank separately apologizing for giving them this movie was sweet, like even they knew that Manos was too much
This was the first episode I was ever shown. To this very day, when I see a Spanish hand washing sign, I say the line. "Manos! The hand of fate."
Obviously, "Manos" is Spanish for "Hand", which makes the title sound extremely stupid.
Everytime I watch Manos, I am completely flabbergasted on how this film was actually made for public screenings.
I had taped it then, and sent one to a friend who was an editor in Hollywood. He duped copies and passed them around to other people in the industry. They were all dumbfounded, for the same reason.
Everyone talks about how great the Manos Riff is. But "Hired!" is also one of my favorite shorts.
The first thing Harry drilled into me...WAS HARRY.

Same. I've done themed _MST3k_ marathons every year since 2016 and _Manos_ is always the closer, regardless of the theme.
I can't believe I was here for the world premier of MANOS!
Y'know, "Manos".

One of the best! I'll never get the Torgo music out of my head! There is also a LIVE RiffTrax on this movie, and the audience is hilarious!🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

Saw this when it first aired on comedy central way back in the day, never laughed so hard🤣 my fave MST episode.
Absolute best episode, can’t believe I first watched this on Comedy Central probably 30+ years ago I wish I kept my vhs collection of all the episodes
The master will be most pleased.
The mother of all classic episodes. It’s the best one, in my view.
Great taste. “I did it, and I don’t regret it, here’s the toast you ordered” and “I left a piece of chewed gum on your pillow” are heard often in my household
I remember recording this off of TV. Still have the tape packed away somewhere. ♥
Thank you, Mike, for bringing Torgo to life. lol
This and the Pumaman episode are peak of the series 😁
Also The Final Sacrifice.
I'm so glad someone else mentioned pumaman. That riff made me laugh harder than I have ever laughed.
Probably about 50 different episodes are the peak of the series. I've always liked Prince of Space and Cave Dwellers.
I forget the name of the film, but the leprechaun kept telling the hero to "seize the bone!".
That's some classic dialog there!
@@mousetreehouse6833 That was Jack the Giant Killer I believe.

I want to watch MST3K at a drive-in one day. Added to my bucket list.
I would love it to be a filmed version of the MST3K treatment for The Eye of Argon. RIP Jim
I'll write the screenplay for The Eye of Argon if anyone from The Asylum is watching.
My dear departed friend Rob was a huge fan! It makes me cry watching these. Love you guys❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
This is one of the first MST3k episodes I was introduced to with my friends so many years ago. Love it.
The legendary Manos screening. It was my very first episode of MST3K, ahh such memories :)
I'm fortunate to have this in my Rhino video released individual episode vhs collection among others.
OMG, me, too! I also have Mitchell!😄

Cave dwellers?
my favorite part of maybe any episode is TV's Frank sheepishly apologizing for how bad the movie is, even the villains realize they went too far
at the same time, there's serveal movies they they showed that was outright WORSE. Like The Wild World of Batwoman, and Red Zone Cuba.
My favorite.
If you were asked to recommend an episode of MST3K to a first-time viewer, this and "Mitchell" would be my picks.
Or maybe Space Mutiny
Sinbad! (Actually Sadko, a Russian movie)
Frank Zappa: The Hands of Fate
Crow " I'm sure they dissolved to the same scene"
"Uh... that's not how you wear your depends, Torgo." 😂😂😂😂😂😂
