    I dont get it. Why are there bolts coming out of the bottom if they dont grip the skidplate? Ive seen some mounts have bolts that come out of the bottom and theyre washered and tightened down onto the skid plate, and some that are basically floating between the skid plate and transmission….i have HUGE vibrations after a shop installed a new poly mount and attached it with washers/nuts under the pan…

    • @WheelinWithWally
      @WheelinWithWally Місяць тому

      @@dylandog1289 the bolts that come down do grip the skid plate with the nuts. My skid just has a recessed plate that's hard to see that allows the bolt heads to sit inside of the skid so they won't get caught on things off roading. I'm not sure why you would now have huge amount of vibration. Maybe the trans mount is working great but your old worn out one was masking some other driveline vibrations because it could move more?

    • @dylandog1289
      @dylandog1289 Місяць тому

      @@WheelinWithWally Ah, then different years have different plates. Mine is a single plate with no recessed secondary plate so my bolts are exposed a bit. I noticed my bolts are at the extreme of the slot in the plate indicsting possible misalignment. Every other photo ive seen has the bolts in the center of the slots. The shop didnt remove the skidplate ao they may have made the mount flex to “finish” the job, but it may be putting force on the trans…

    • @WheelinWithWally
      @WheelinWithWally Місяць тому

      @@dylandog1289 my skid is an aftermarket one. That could be but I wouldn't imagine that would be the cause. You could always put a jack under the transmission and support it. Then loosen the trans mount bolts and see how it looks. Mine is fairly smooth but I've added so many mods and large mud tires it's definitely not a Cadillac. Do you have a lift or aftermarket parts? I still wonder if something else is causing the vibration and now you are just feeling it more because the new trans mount is transferring vibration more than the old one.

      It was well worth it. Price is high but the product is good and the customer service is second to none. Highly recommend them if you think you need a little better stopping force.

      Thanks man! Really glad I did it. It's pricey but makes the jeep a little less scary in traffic on the highway on those long road trips.

    I just finished installing the same kit. Amazing instructions and amazing quality all around. Great customer service too. I did american iron ball joint deletes at the same time

      I almost did that as well but I think they were out of stock when I did it. The brakes are great though and the customer service is above and beyond!

      Also just ordered the same ball joint tools as you. Was quoted 1200 just in labor, I'm also doing axle seals, steering and brakes while I'm in there. Thanks for the video. I'm also a member of MOJO

    Wow, really sorry to see Wally in such a bad way. When you smashed down on the gas tank skid I thought maybe that was going to be your issue, didn't guess it would be the diff's. Any idea what the route cause was? One positive for you, at least in the US you will be able to get parts fairly easily and find people to work on Wally, in the UK these days there really aren't many people willing to work on TJs. Anyway, hoping repairs go as smoothly as possible and best wishes from the UK.

    • @WheelinWithWally
      @WheelinWithWally 3 місяці тому

      Thank you! I'm not completely sure what caused it. Yeah parts and work are not hard to find here it's just a little expensive. That's a bummer about the UK. How common are TJs over there? I think possibly when my drive shaft broke in the previous video it slightly loosened the pinion nut and then it worked itself off on the highway.
