This story is pretty amazing - mostly inspirational and a little depressing, especially knowing that I burned much of my 20s and some 30s. But to dissipate the depression some of you are feeling right now. :), try to think about your own passions and ambitions, not that of the Techlead. He has been generally pursuing his passions since he was a kid, and as we've all been told, if you stay committed to your passions, you can become successful, and at the very least, learn a lot of lessons and good life experience during your pursuit which could lead you down a path you never dreamed of. Use the angst you are feeling and keep moving forward. I think the Techlead provides incredibly sound advice/wisdom and good/thorough thought processes for making big (and small) life decisions and navigating those. Take what is useful to you, apply it, keep evaluating the outcomes, and write your OWN story, as the TL has advised. :)
@@jpaulsen10 What a nice thing to say. I am continuing to move past my own mental roadblocks because I believe that the mind is mostly what holds us back - not other people, circumstances, or money, but our own habitual thinking and not knowing our true selves that keep us stuck in "safe mode". We need to break those repetitive cycles and beliefs that are so engrained in us from childhood and that continue to influence our decision making. I think that's part of why I love to travel, because I feel like that curious kid envisioning endless possibilities and letting go of my old self-defeating thoughts. Too bad some of those thoughts creep back in when I return home. :) But gotta keep working to conquer those!
@@runner399 I agree 100%, childhood lessons and upbringing definitely affects one's decision making as an adult, but remember Rome wasn't build in a day. If you feel more comfortable speaking with individuals or small groups, start with those first until you feel comfortable speaking to bigger crowds, but you clearly have a talent for writing, your messages are clear, easy to read and contains proper grammar and spelling (which is very rare in 2020) so that might just be the niche you were looking for :-)
people are hating on him because he’s showing what life is really like. it’s not all sunshine and rainbows where you get a job and keep that job for 20+ years while everything goes amazing. real life involves a lot of searching and uncertainty. thank you for making this video, it was amazing.
The thing I like about your story is it's all driven by you. It wasn't "I joined a company and learned what they taught me". It's I learned something, joined a company then got bored and decided to learn/accomplish more with what I already knew. I think it's most people's dream to build something that's successful but very few people do it.

it's a very rare situation. Most software dev's (you most like included) will spend most of their lives cramped in a cubicle staring into the monitor. Sad truth.
Hate to be the bearer of bad news but he became a software engineer at the best time possible. It's not the same in 2023, you won't have that many entrepreneurial opportunities as he had. And at the end of the day he had money because he was an entrepreneur not because he was getting paid a lot by his jobs
Such a big inspiration! I value your lifelong experiences and your risk taking. My girlfriend is currently 9 months pregnant and I find myself working 6 days a week, 12 hours a day. I keep telling myself that it’ll be worth it for my family. I have been experiencing difficulties maintaining my attitude and stumbled upon your video my friend. I look up to you now. Life is about the journey, it’s the failures and opportunities that make life so beautiful! You have reinstated that within me. Thank you sir 🙏🏼
You have lived such an inspiring life. Travel, Romance, pet, kids, dream jobs, UA-cam channel, you had it all. I spent an entire day today watching your videos and enjoyed every bit of it. Felt like I'm talking to you all day. Spent a day of wisdom with you and still on. You speak about life, tech, business, relationships, and what not. You are unique, you are inspiring, you are THE TECHLEAD !! Love from India.
I'm studying computer engineering right now but it just goes to show that even when you didn't have a job you were working on your own projects while traveling the world. Eventually even after doing so much, you felt stuck but you had a baby and finally found purpose to your life. It really doesn't matter who you are as long as you strive to keep learning new things. You could have stayed doing the same job every year but you chose to take risks and that led to even better opportunities. Your intellectual property had paved the way for your success.
That was amazing! In that 10 years span, you did more than most people could ever hope to do in their whole lifetime. You led a life that most could only dream of. What a successful and beautiful life, in that short 10 years. 👍
i was fascinated by the name, and then i just thought i would just watch one video, i suddenly found myself watching a lot more, basically because i like the simplicity and factual content you cover
Awesome vid! Inspired me to try to be more adventurous. With each job you took or left, you took on risks. But you were able to reach your full potential by doing what you wanted, despite those risks. I need to keep that in mind for decisions in my life. 🙂
There's a little thing each time he did quit a job he always had that convenience of having backup plan which was app making. So if you don't have any backup plan you shouldn't do something as rash as him.
Nice job with the video b-roll. I loved all the scenic travel shots. I've also spent time in LA, NY, Hawaii, and San Francisco. I haven't been to Japan though. It looks amazing!
Absolutely loved the way he covered the years with absolute clarity and that great style of narration! Could perhaps turn out to be a very successful and popular writer later in life! Wishing him all the very best! Cheers!😀👍

Dude wtf. This video makes me so confused. You obviously have a lot of highly marketable skills and travel the world like crazy. But you don’t even care much about stability or anything and I can’t tell if you’re insanely rich off a couple viral apps or poor or middle class. That’s insane. I guess now you’ve settled down and I’m happy for you and maybe even jealous at one point of how much you’ve done and how you simply left great jobs when you got bored etc. I guess that comes with your experience and you know it’ll be easy to get another great job when you want. You rejected like the entire premise of the typical good career that involves being stable and getting a great job and working hard at it to move up. And in the end it all works out
> You rejected like the entire premise of the typical good career that involves being stable and getting a great job and working hard at it to move up. And in the end it all works out For good software developers, it's kind of typical. I have quit a job more time that I can count and still can get an offer for an huge amount if I want to. The job market for devs is sick right now.
The world lacks programmers, software engineers, computer scientists. Getting a degree in this field and developing your skills overtime will eventually land you any developer position you want... Sometimes for pretty huge sums of money. As for how he was living all this time, travelling can be really cheap if you rent apartments for very short periods of time. It's far cheaper than staying at a hotel. Remember, travelling, not a vacation.
Sir I envy you! That is one amazing journey! I just turned 30...and I feel like I have little time b4 I should settle down...I don't have a woman, my job as a Software Engineer is ok....but I feel I am not fast enough due to a personal physical limiation I am trying to find an alternative to go the fast track! :)
Ever thought of becoming a motivational speaker? Very kind words indeed
Omg thank you so much for this. I'm on my way ...
@@glval You are welcome - keep going!!

What's inspiring is not his success, but the way he used his success to live and engage with the world in a meaningful way.
Sorry what? In a meaningful way? You can say as an exploration or whatever but meaningful... is traveling the world that meaningful really?
@@ZipMapp it's the part of self development so yes it is meaningful just for you but, still it's meaningful
@@alphaenterprise2232 Yes maybe, but when people claim something is "woah meaningful" then it's meant to mean beyond the scope of their own self
people are hating on him because he’s showing what life is really like. it’s not all sunshine and rainbows where you get a job and keep that job for 20+ years while everything goes amazing. real life involves a lot of searching and uncertainty. thank you for making this video, it was amazing.
Lol
Ahahah. Is that sarcasm?
The thing I like about your story is it's all driven by you. It wasn't "I joined a company and learned what they taught me". It's I learned something, joined a company then got bored and decided to learn/accomplish more with what I already knew. I think it's most people's dream to build something that's successful but very few people do it.

The best loneliness story I've ever seen
thats the key to his success. most men are obsessed with getting laid. this guy was obsessed with money

Interesting how some people get depressed after hearing your story and some of us are inspired. As someone majoring in Computer Science, I am deeply inspired by this! I realize there was a lot of work too it wasn’t just all traveling etc of course and that you’re sharing the main events. Makes me want to program my own ideas in my freetime and learn for fun, rather than just for class! :) Thanks for sharing your story.
it's a very rare situation.
This video is an inspiration. TechLead has experienced a lot and lived his life - although as a software engineer, it's hard to enjoy life to fullest.
Year one of my developer life: still struggling to find a job.
how's it coming along now?

Inspirational. Like how he can just do what he likes

The best video from TechLead. Motivational as well.
Such a beautiful and emotional story. Tears of joy! :)
Awesome vid! Inspired me to try to be more adventurous. With each job you took or left, you took on risks. But you were able to reach your full potential by doing what you wanted, despite those risks. I need to keep that in mind for decisions in my life. 🙂
I love your content. Pet your dog kava for me x
There's a little thing each time he did quit a job he always had that convenience of having backup plan which was app making. So if you don't have any backup plan you shouldn't do something as rash as him.

Great. Never settle! Respect man! I love your story.
And in the end it all works out
For good software developers, it's kind of typical.
