Day in the Life of a Japanese Game Programmer
Вставка
- Опубліковано 28 лис 2019
- A Japanese Game Developer working in Tokyo Japan. This is the programmer life in Japan. As a Japanese game programmer you'll see what it is like commuting to work in Tokyo and going to work at one of the largest Video Game Studios in Japan as well as working with other Japanese video game developers, software engineers, video game devs, game designers and even Japanese game directors for a major Japanese Video Game studio. We follow Masa, a 23 year old, Japanese programmer, throughout his workday and witness what he does during his Japanese working hours as a Japanese game programmer at the Bandai Namco Studios office in Tokyo. We'll even interact with directors from popular Japanese video game titles such as Tekken and CodeVein. Plus we'll get to see what a Japanese programmer from one of the large Video Game companies in Japan does after work with friends. This look inside a Japanese game dev's life is pretty unique and should provide some insight for those people who want to work in Japan as a game developer or game programmer. Also, this day in the life of a Japanese programmer will show you what it takes to be a Japanese programmer. As you would expect, most of the work day is spent programming and coding, but there are other unique aspects of the Japanese programmers life we are able to see in this video.

I worked for very big companies and trust me it's not them being kind, they don't give a sh*t about people, they only do it because they understood that it brings them some kinds of benefits like :
- a tired salary men is a less productive worker
- they understood that having people working overtime everyday is toxic for their health
- they care about their image + talents are actualy more willing to enter a compagny if they can work less
It's the same about coffee breaks, companies worldwide only allows it cause you'll be more productive afterwards

Shows the screen finally and it's just a benign totally class with absolutely no functionality yet, or even descriptive names of any sort.
Ungrave it’s probably because they don’t want their proprietary code being revealed to the public.
Ungrave it’s written in C++, which isn’t exactly the safest language. Showing the code would make certain hacking, like stack or buffer overflow attack, a lot easier.

Hi, I am just finding about your channel. We watched this video in class because one of our student's wants to become a programmer. I also bought a tee shirt for my nephew. He loves everything Japanese.
as a developer seeing all those "day in life of a programmer" videos, this is probably the most accurate representation of what we actually do. 80-90% of the day is just coding and 10-20% is meeting or discussion. that's it.
then do you know the ex-google, ex-facebook, multi millionaire techlead?

80-90% coding? I wish! A lot of my time is in meetings. So for me, I would say 50% is coding. And out of that 50%, 35-40% is reading other people's code and architecture planning.

Lol
This dude casually walks around the office and talks to tha game director of tekken like it was nothing
I know right, who is he? The son of the big boss there 😳
Somehow the game director dont mind about it
Imagine walking around tennis courts making a random video and one of the top tennis coaches shows up. Would you be awe struck? What is a big deal for you is not a big deal for a bunch of people.
thats really good content and very nice vlog indeed. wow!!!!well done palolo!!!!
Really cool video !!!! Sharing it with my esl student !
I don’t think Paolo realized who he was actually talking to: THE CREATOR OF TEKKEN
Edit: HOLY SMOKES did not expect all these likes
Actually not, he's talking to Kouhei Ikeda, who worked in severall big Namco games, but the true creator and the father of Tekken is Katsuhiro Harada.
The likes are 666 lol
@@yzma1319 but u fucked it up
@@yzma1319 Alr there u satisfied now??

As weird as it seems, I watch this vid almost everyday to get motivated to go to work lmao
You are no the only one bro..
shiro yasha to each their own brother
This is the life of a youtube commenter
You should develop more intrinsic motivation. Extrinstic motivation is ephemeral.
how can you watch this and get motivated for work you pathetic rats
Can definitely tell he's not a gamer. He met a couple rock stars and was like ...cool , now let's look at snacks 😂😂
I'm glad he treated everyone like normal people. What was crazy to me was how polite they were to a UA-camr making career videos. I'm sure he had permission, but everyone genuinely seemed friendly instead of annoyed that they had to put up with someone interrupting their work flow.
@Nonesense Speaker theres a difference between "fawning" over and being completely oblivious.
He's being polite, I'm sure he's very aware. How would you like someone to come into your work place with a camera and start goggling over you... He is supposed to be covering a coder not the tekken dev lead.
@@drejaquez9467 regardless you consider yourself a gamer no? So even if you didn't play Tekken would your response be the same if you were the interviewer? Overall I just made light of it. I'm a gamer and even I dont play Tekken anymore but my response to seeing what they are doing wouldn't be along the line of what I said in the original comment. "cool , now let's look at snacks " ( he didnt say that but you get what I'm saying lol)
This was an amazing video
Your videos are amaaaazing! 🤩
So this is the future that awaits me, sitting 24/7 hours in a chair just typing and typing and praying for the ide dont show error compiling. i accept the challenge
That and crunch time, hellish hours and uncertainty of job security. Hope you enjoy having no life... :C
@@thepurplepanda4 Are you alone or what?
@@thenix0389 bro he is right, 8 to 10 hours a day is no joke.... Unless it gives good money no one will get his will to do
@@hmmm6710 that’s why being a game dev isn’t worth it. The pay is terrible. You can get payed a lot as a software engineer in the USA
May god have mercy on us programmers
It's like Paolo is looking at my life and knows what I want...
Thanks Ethan! Glad you like this type of content.
@@PaolofromTOKYO hey man I wish you all the success with what you're doing.
Been my dream to visit Japan since I was 10 and have been obsessed with the culture since that age too. Love this stuff.
That's great. I hope you realize your dream and visit Japan one day.
Hey yea me too after last episode i was hoping for a video about a japanese game developer lol
so i'm first year game developer college student and i just want to say thank u for creating this video. i really want to work in japan, idc that there are a lot of hours work needed, the sallary there is still better than my country which requires the same hours of work. i wish id get in one of companies like this. its true that for the outsider's perspective, that job looks boring but i know full well how hard programming is and even in my first yr im struggling quite a bit, even so its satisfying. again thanks for the vid, u earned a sub
