Hi! I’m from the Philippines and yesterday a printing service posted a congratulatory photo of their senior graphic artist who won an art competition. Not exactly won, but more like a consolation price. It became viral because you could spot the AI from miles away. People are calling her out and it turned out that she only googled those images and pretty much did a composite and called it a day. Judges must be inexperienced or not qualified for them to get her a consolation price. Also she shared the rules for the competition. And on rule #3, it says “…must submit an original artwork…”. It was a hot topic and a lot of people are pissed & embarrassed about this.
People saying the "maybe they just have different styles" all the time must be non-artists... you usually understand how consistency in art looks from the same person, even IF the style varies.
If i had a Backlog like that, then i would probably lean back and regularly post like 2-3 pieces per weak for a few years and build a functional community around it, instead of spamming everything out in a few month, just to have everyone wonder, why i eventually stop doing 25 pieces per week and suddenly go back to 1-2 per week. Like nobody can tell me, that it's normal artist behavior to be so wasteful with your stuff.
0:28 I just want to say that more than the artstyle I recognized IMMEDIATELY THAT THEY STOLE THE ART THEY PUT INTO AI TO GET THE IMAGES. They look way too close to the anime drawings used as background on Nightcore videos on youtube around ten years ago (for the SAO, FMA & other older media "fanart" they did). It's really obvious 😭

People saying that AI already got good, but they forget that an image might have 100s of components. So with a 99% success rate, there will always be something wrong that any artist will spot.
I get that Ai generated stuff is sometime favoured cause ppl dont wanna pay for expensive artists. But it annoyed me SO much that ppl try and sell AI images. They do NOTHING to earn a penny beyond typing some words to tell the program to make it, that is where line should be drawn. No work, no profit.
If people are paying for it, you can't do anything. And people that want an image for something, will go for the best value for money they can get, and nothing can beat AI-generated art in this.
If I want something that looks good, I don't care how it was made. You people clearly fail to understand that, that's why you will not survive as a profession.
As others have stated, no one truly cares how a piece was created or how long it took to make-they just want the final product. Being an AI artist is just as impactful as a conventional artist. It starts with one’s imagination and them devising a prompt for conceive it.
9:25 this part, the translation just straight up translate what it said but it does not mean under age minor. For this it means “it’s hard to draw not well known characters” sorry if my English is bad, I live in Japan so I lost some of my English skills
Characters with known and high level of details are a dead giveaway for genAI. We had an issue just last month in the Transformers community of someone using AI for an official cover for one of the recent comic issues. It was issue 12 of the Image/Skybound comic run, an alternate cover of Megatron, all in purple. When you look at it for longer than five seconds the construction just looks all wrong. As far as I know Skybound has yet to acknowledge the controversy. Might be worth looking at on one of your streams.
Thanks for commenting on this. The artist has apparently been called out for "swiping" other people's art before AI art was even a thing, and this latest example comes as no surprise for those familiar with him. Very informative for me, however.
I'm so glad someone else is talking about this, I got suspicious of them a while ago and a few others were calling them out in the comments but none of use were big enough to get noticed. from what I know this artist used to actually post real art but they stated using ai but because nobody realized they were already known as an artist. I don't know when they made the swap but I noticed a little before Christmas and when I followed them they were already posting ai, they get so many likes because alot of use didn't notice. I wouldn't have figured it out if it wasn't for a mutated hand lmao, it just sucks that most people probably aren't looking at it for long enough to notice things are off. thank you for helping expose them.
with the "minor" characters, it might refer to more obscure characters? Like ones thatll be harder to generate because theyre not popular and well known, aka- less fanart to generate from
I've spent enough time on Pinterest to spot AI images, and I can tell these are made by AI. Sad that an artist who could apparently draw well have to resort to that thing to represent them
They have literal courses of what AI prompts to use to get specific kinds of results and art styles. I can't imagine the amount of artists whose name got collected by this person and then sold as instruction guide for these future scums of the earth "AI artists".
There's a popular artist on Instagram that continues to fool so many people and think their art isnt AI. She then says that anyone who says she's using AI are trolls and haters and proceeds to block them it's crazy
I used to love his art and appreciated how quickly he could make art, I didn't suspect bc i follow a actual artist who can actually draw pretty quickly! But in one of his works I noticed a mistake and discovered that it was AI, I was really sad.
Sharing art is about connecting with other people. Every illustrator I've spoken to LOVES talking about their art, how terrible their art block is, complaining about their shitty anatomy, shoddy linework, how hard drapery is, because EVERY artist can relate to those things. You lose all of that if you're sharing something stolen from AI (and/or other people).
Is it just me or is all AI art super recognizable? Just one look and I could tell all of those were AI I think no matter how good it gets we have been trained to spot them easily by now
I used to follow them and love their art since they USED to draw them, themselves but eventually for some reason around the Yor and Loid art u could tell it was AI and ppl would call them out saying how they were disappointed or go back since everyone liked their original art so eventually just unfollowed and blocked them so they'll stop coming into my feed and me accidentally liking AI art.
@@idkwayta1722 I thought it was suspicious at one point but at the same time I thought it'll be a complete waste to convert to AI when they can actually draw so I would keep an eye out and look at all the comments and when my suspicions were confirmed I got rid of them
That's good! Please keep pursuing your passion. But what Kat is saying with the multiple drawings a day thing is: the level of the rendering and art shown in this video if drawn by hand, takes a long time! (Several hours+) If you're a beginner you're not going to have this level of rendering so it shouldn't be a problem if you're a beginner.
It’s ok. I have 3 art instagrams and when I suspected they were stealing our data (art or not) I just stopped posting altogether. Your art doesn’t have to be on social media either. There’s no requirement. Just do what makes you comfortable with your art.
You're a beginner, you have your own pace. That's incredible you have the motivation to make 5. Posting your art is not necessary and numbers shouldn't motivate you. Just draw for yourself and bask in self-improvement... that comes first.
I hate this person… He fooled a lot of people including my friend and since he has a huge account know, it gives the wrong idea of what is truly « art » like wtf sometimes his character has 3 hands and people don’t even notice it, I know 6 years old kids who can draw something better 💀
Thank you for bring them up. I admit i fell into their hole for a short time in the early AI as i was brain dead and went "Ooh Loid and Yor art...i retweet" Someone told me however, I immediately un-retweeted the art and unfollowed but like it seemed like they just kept getting bigger even tho everyone knows they use AI
Just the pikachus give it away for me. Yea, the details, fingers and toes but also every single one looks different. You can argue that they were experimenting with art style but it couldn't change drastically because people tend to draw out of habit and put some things in the same place. One pikachu was super round and cute, another one was very much like from the anime, then another one is super stylized
I know these are AI pictures but your argument are bad if you want my opinion. I'm an artist and can poste plenty of arts each days and i do had (back before) a huge backlog. That doesnt mean nothing. People can also have a lot of different art style/inconsistent art style. I think you should stop doing that honestly. Yeah AI picture arent nice but if the people dont say "I'm an artist i drew this" they do nothing bad- Ai art can be used for reference or whatever. Having a "fucked up" anatomy doesnt mean nothing and no not every artist have a "logical artstyle where every brush stroke are place wisely". Anyways, i dont appreciate that kind of video. In every of them, you just talk to talk.
Tbh one thing I’m worried about is posting my art. I don’t have an art style that’s consistent, if I use one all the time, I get bored. I need to change a lot to keep myself interested. I also don’t post my art much but when I do, I post my previous finished pieces as well on the same day, “might as well”. I don’t think it has occurred to me that it might seem or look sus. I’m no top-tier great artist, just hobbyist when I feel like it but regardless, it’s sad what art is coming to. I’ve seen people call out/cancel others for “ai” when they weren’t and ruins their image. Not saying you’re doing anything wrong or trying to insinuate that, I agree with you here. I was just sharing my worries-AI is really ruining and hurting so many people’s trust. Who knows who you could trust especially that, unfortunately, AI will get more advanced and soon, we won’t be able to tell the difference. I’ve even seen AI do “process videos” and “Timelapse” of art pieces.
When people are asking me what im talking about when im saying that ai art is so low effort that literally anyone could use it to mass produce it in every day for popularity. That’s the kind of shit im talking about These kinds of people do not deserve the credit for their “ART” than the ones who take a lot of time for every line and color with intent, imagination and creativity, art that feels alive
A couple months back i would see this person on my timeline almost every day, they posted a lot of Fate fan art with that red background. One day I finally looked at their profile thinking they just had a crazy work ethic or something only to see that they were posting multiple times every day and realized it was AI. They also used to disclose that they use AI in their bio, but they've since removed it for some reason.
I tought this was already known, i mean it was obv that its ai art and not real art, most people follow Tarte for references😭(poses, gradient, style, haircuts, clothes, rendering, background composition, etc.) not bc they think that its real art
Quote of the day: if a human drew this, every brush stroke is placed with intention. Exactly, that fact people can still get away with AI art is insane.
I started following tarte when a lot of illustrators I followed also followed them (2022-mid 2023). Back then, as far as I knew, tarte seemed like a legit artist, but now it’s so obvious they’re just posting AI art 💀
It's kinda tragic that they sold out so hard. tbh i think they dodged a lot of initial backlash when they first switched from actual art to AI art bc they used to say it openly in their bio that they were an AI artist, so I guess it was seen as 'honest' and so people were more inclined to just unfollow and block instead of trying to call them out. cus i mean. there wasn't anything to really 'call out' or analyze when they were up front about it
Used to follow them before AI became a big thing and the thing is that this person is a good artist and they actually can recreate the Granblue artsyle which is the reason why i followed them in the first place and looking at there pixiv account it seems like the last art they made that is not AI is during 2019 though the 2022 Marin drawing is still debatable since some in the comments saying it's AI but the tags don't have the AI tag
Calling someone out is not “trying to incite outrage”, it’s informing people of a deceitful individual getting famous in the community, in the hopes that this will make said individual lose their undeserved fame
yea i believe but im not 100% samdoesart or some other artist i saw talked about this in a video about an ai post that went viral and a lot of people were showed that did a remake in their style and made it look better. it was a hatsune miku post
When searching マイナーキャラ (meaning Minor Character) seems that the mainaa part is used as small, minor, unimportant (like a side character). I could be wrong but i don’t believe they meant an underage character hopefully
it's really odd but the people who follow and grant these types of genned images so much attention...simply appear to just...like all the "noise" that's going on in them. There's a pattern in most of these where there's SO MANY THINGS just ON the "canvas" that that's more or less what people are paying attention to. I think any OC artist on twitter can also attest to how fan art of "popular thing" will almost always just get an automatic and easy amount of likes vs more original/personal subject matter too 9 times out of 10 so there's definitely that factor at play too. So many people don't appreciate art anymore; they look at a piece for less than 2 milliseconds -- hit "like" if it lights up their brain's pleasure center, and don't even interact if it doesn't -- and then move on. most likely NEVER thinking about that piece of art they just "liked" ever again.
I think this speaks more to the monotony of common social media usage and the algorithms that back them. A symptom of how platforms such as twitter are more geared towards discourse than art, despite art being so prevalent.
I'm an artist but i mostly post Ai art too. Why? Because i can. Why would i draw something from scratch when i can just correct something i generated until it looks authentic? I can also draw something simple, pass it through Ai, and have it correct it for me, thus making the final result better. Whatever ethics you have regarding the method of cretion is irrelevant to me, i only care about the results. This guy might be the same as me. Whether you like it or not, Ai is here to stay and i'm an artist who approves of it. Buahahahah (evil laughter)
And that’s the problem with AI, it encourages people to never get better. You are not an artist, you could’ve been an artist, but you decided to be lazy instead
Oh, this person! Yeah, they're actually openly stated that they are using AI on their profile and tags. 9:29 Regarding minor characters means side characters and/or unpopular characters in Japanese. For under-aged characters we usually say 未成年 (miseinen). Note: JP current situation. Hey kat, how often do u stream? I think alot of the ppl in their page does not know its ai cus they used to also draw in a similar style like granblue fantasy style. THEY WERE AN ARTIST. AND A ESTABLISHED ONE AT THAT. That makes this 2x more fucked up in my opinion. For the "minor characters" thingy, in japanese terms, it can also mean characters that is not well known. Like pikachu, spy family charas and naruto its more well known so its easier to make them via ai. If its a minor chara with not much fan art, the ai cant churn it out as nicely as they promised. When japanese says characters of a younger age, they tend to use other terms to make it clearer.

I get that Ai generated stuff is sometime favoured cause ppl dont wanna pay for expensive artists. But it annoyed me SO much that ppl try and sell AI images. They do NOTHING to earn a penny beyond typing some words to tell the program to make it, that is where line should be drawn. No work, no profit.
depends
If people are paying for it, you can't do anything. And people that want an image for something, will go for the best value for money they can get, and nothing can beat AI-generated art in this.
Even if it was backlog...who has the energy to post that often? As soon as I have to tag something I get exhausted.
I just don't tag hahaha
I’d rather someone show me a banana on a wall in a museum rather than letting my eyes witness AI ‘art’
As a native Japanese speaker, I doubt the artist is Japanese. The written language on Patreon is really off like the ones I see in phishing emails.
I came here to say this. The Japanese reeks of machine translation. The English is better, although also a little weird.
We should call it "Ai generated images" (that is what it is) and not "Art"
the nerve of ai "artists" to even have coms or patreon is absolute trash
clients don't care whether your art is ai or not, they just want a good, cheap product
i guess its just beyond your comprehension
If I want something that looks good, I don't care how it was made. You people clearly fail to understand that, that's why you will not survive as a profession.
As others have stated, no one truly cares how a piece was created or how long it took to make-they just want the final product. Being an AI artist is just as impactful as a conventional artist. It starts with one’s imagination and them devising a prompt for conceive it.
Blending in with ligitimate artists.
Thats a lot ai art in twitter, and they tell us to call them 'artist' ??
Like ones thatll be harder to generate because theyre not popular and well known, aka- less fanart to generate from
Minor refers to second and not important character. Major character are important character : Hero, antagonist etc.
What saddens me is that this person used to be a respected artist and really good as well.
Tossed away years of dedication for a quick buck... 😔

I've spent enough time on Pinterest to spot AI images, and I can tell these are made by AI.
Sad that an artist who could apparently draw well have to resort to that thing to represent them
spamming AI "Art" is so scummy, What has art even come to that became this bad
They have literal courses of what AI prompts to use to get specific kinds of results and art styles. I can't imagine the amount of artists whose name got collected by this person and then sold as instruction guide for these future scums of the earth "AI artists".
There's a popular artist on Instagram that continues to fool so many people and think their art isnt AI. She then says that anyone who says she's using AI are trolls and haters and proceeds to block them it's crazy
What did they have to type to get that Power image 😭😭
That's what I always think when I see an NSFW/suggestive image that's clearly ai 😭
The mistake here is believing twitter, at this point I trust nothing that comes out of Elon musks’s twitter
Just one look and I could tell all of those were AI
I think no matter how good it gets we have been trained to spot them easily by now
I used to follow them and love their art since they USED to draw them, themselves but eventually for some reason around the Yor and Loid art u could tell it was AI and ppl would call them out saying how they were disappointed or go back since everyone liked their original art so eventually just unfollowed and blocked them so they'll stop coming into my feed and me accidentally liking AI art.
If you have to wait till spyxfamily fanart to know then you are a year late. He has pumped out a year worth of AI OC before that
@@idkwayta1722 I thought it was suspicious at one point but at the same time I thought it'll be a complete waste to convert to AI when they can actually draw so I would keep an eye out and look at all the comments and when my suspicions were confirmed I got rid of them

The funny thing that makes me not want to post my art is that i can make like 5 drawings a day and im still a beginner that just started 2 months ago
That's good! Please keep pursuing your passion. But what Kat is saying with the multiple drawings a day thing is: the level of the rendering and art shown in this video if drawn by hand, takes a long time! (Several hours+)
If you're a beginner you're not going to have this level of rendering so it shouldn't be a problem if you're a beginner.
It's also the multitudes of art styles changes among all the images as well.@@enigmaticenigma7808
Just draw for yourself and bask in self-improvement... that comes first.
keep getting better and don’t give up :D
I can't believe I'm saying this, but at least Chris Chan tried when he made his comic.
I admit i fell into their hole for a short time in the early AI as i was brain dead and went "Ooh Loid and Yor art...i retweet"
Someone told me however, I immediately un-retweeted the art and unfollowed but like it seemed like they just kept getting bigger even tho everyone knows they use AI
2 years ago i got an eevee picture computer background of the internet and only this month realised its ai 😢
I see this so often, who are the idiots that see 4 extremely detailed pieces in 1 days and think that's a real artist? Unbelievable...
When people are asking me what im talking about when im saying that ai art is so low effort that literally anyone could use it to mass produce it in every day for popularity.
That’s the kind of shit im talking about
These kinds of people do not deserve the credit for their “ART” than the ones who take a lot of time for every line and color with intent, imagination and creativity, art that feels alive
this person was called out a long time ago about using AI. like maybe two or three years ago and yes it's AI

Chat GPT says マイナーキャラ means lesser known characters and it also says that it can't mean "underage".
Did I just use AI to fight AI?
Quote of the day: if a human drew this, every brush stroke is placed with intention.
Exactly, that fact people can still get away with AI art is insane.
The hands he drew with the help of AI are gonna probably be haunting me in my nightmares
I started following tarte when a lot of illustrators I followed also followed them (2022-mid 2023). Back then, as far as I knew, tarte seemed like a legit artist, but now it’s so obvious they’re just posting AI art 💀
Why is the AI “art” not been noticed yet, like bro- ✨✨✨ are ppl stupid 🥰🥰
I personally can see it clearly when AI bros do something but unfortunately many people don’t. And thats why many fall for the AI scam too.
Normal people don’t care for AI they see good drawing they like and it’s sad

@@Hynet1 yes, that was I'm about to say
just went to their page on Twitter and oh my god they have no shame in posting those Ai images🤦♀️🤦♀️

I’m totally in ur side and I agree but I can’t help but think that some of these were nitpicks?

The comment about the mandela effect on the tail really messed with my head.
private artists groups talks about this. but I dont see people calling him out yet.
it's really odd but the people who follow and grant these types of genned images so much attention...simply appear to just...like all the "noise" that's going on in them.

Same for every single machine out there that automates any process.
This is what kills me as an artist. They don’t care for the process of creating at all and now they have a shortcut to adoration and the dopamine hit that comes with it.

The thing with minor characters must be there's not enough stolen art of the character to get a good illustration. One thing is trying to get ganyu in modern clothes, another must be getting Timmy in modern clothes.
Girl, the artstyle can change constantly, there are artists that don’t have consistent art style. and also they can save their artworks and post them all in 1 day, the day they post the artworks doesn’t mean that they made it that day…
