If you've made it this far in the description, remember to be safe when creature adventuring! Most wild animals can cause injury if harassed, and I do not recommend attempting to capture any creatures without purpose and practice. The reason that I interact with wildlife is to produce these educational videos, and I have years of zoology experience under my belt. Also, I always ask permission from a land owner before exploring on their property, and you should do the same.
Keep adventuring everywhere, and keep your adventures safe at all times!

We are in NC too and our abundance of cute little snakes and lizards and salamanders is one of the reasons I stayed instead of moving back to the Midwest!

Another great video! Loved the thumbs up rating scale. I used to keep Chinese mantids in the lab, and I can guarantee you that bad boy that Spencer was holding can tackle some pretty big prey. Lucky for the baby snakes that mantids don't tend to hunt on the ground. :)

Thank you! I also found that the thumbs up scale was a highly useful metric that I would like to continue implementing in the future. Yep, if I was a baby snake I would not get anywhere near the mantis!

So, in other words, the Eastern Worm Snake is re-evolving that most awesome weapon:

I almost thought that Dekay's Brown Snake was a Ring-necked Snake for a moment. I only started educating myself this past year about "creepy crawlies" and this definitely hit the spot for my curiosity. Thanks so much!

They can look similar depending on the color morph for sure. Glad you found this video interesting, thanks for watching!

If you're going to find some small fossorial snakes, those are some of the best. Dig the "What is your opinion?" addition in this one.

Outdoor cats are environmental pests. They kill billions of native wildlife a year.

I definitely advise keeping cats indoor to prevent this from happening!

We used to have outdoor cats too but, as a whole, they kill a lot of native wildlife. I hadn't heard about the 9V battery antivenin trick 😆
