In 1965 I owned a place in Torrance Ca called the Doll House. I got tired of local bands and put a group together. I called it the Frank Four. Larry was still in high school and wore a long hair wig when I hired him. During the breaks he would go into my office and practice. When he wasn't eating or sleeping he was practicing. He became number one call for all the recording companies before he retired. He aslo played with some heavy jazz groups.
Yes he used to play with a dear friend of mine Jazz Pianist John Wood down in Venice Ca at the club called "The Seachest!" I was in my late teens too! If you appreciate Good Jazz Music and the Guitar Lovers can rock with this for sure! I'm from Santa Monica and Venice Ca I grew up with my Dad listening to all the Jazz Greats and I hated it as a kid but became In Love with Jazz at about 17 and listen to it most everyday
Precious, precious. No se que decir más en como mi alma se alegra al escuchar B James y sus amigos L Carlton un guitarrista fantástico La música es lo más saludable para ignorar de las muchas cosas que nos rodea de este mundo tan estupido e interesado...
I'm a guitarist, but always listen to the other instruments. And, on this tune........Bob James is just killing it on piano! Just check out those passing chords!!!! And, yes........Larry can play his ass off, too!
I could do this one, but not everything that Larry plays. He has a seemingly infinite chord voicing vocabulary. Watch what he did with Les Paul. That was jaw dropping.
La perfección existe, y Blues Force con Fourplay : Larry Carlton. Bob James. Nathan East y Harvey Mason son los gestores, escuchala una y otra vez y confirmaras que la perfección SI EXISTE, abrazo para ellos, gracias por su música, ojalá alguna vez visiten Lima Peru, lo esperaremos con los brazos abiertos
That's Powerful What You Just Said Bc It's a fact I'm from a family of music! The only thing is.. All 10 of us siblings sang and years later can still hold a tune! The only one who played was Mom on piano and We Always knew she was telling a story and we were in tune with her bc we knew our Mother on and off the Piano in the zone! After that we all learned that musicians are telling a story, just as you said bc I could not have put it better! You most often see Guitarist's mouths moving but this is the first Pianist who I've seen with this kind of musical expression except Moses Tyson Jr on organ he makes the organ do his talking Pull him up right here on you tube This man is a BADD The song is titled Pray for me Check it out
Larry Carlton is my favorite guitarist,I think the key to he's genius is,he's a great band member. All these guys in the band are equals, they all contribute to the one sound which in turn creates the Blues Force. I love the space they make for each other and the listener. Thanks for posting this.
Thank you for Spitting Larry out this Way at 1st it was like but I Wasn't sure but when I Heard Sunrise that was it Thank you Baby Really Enjoy Them💋👀🖤😊
Well this is the 3rd time I have woke up today it is 10:06pm Monday night That's the Blues Larry plays the Blues the band is Awesome Thank you Kostas 💋👀🖤😊
Yah. Larry Carlton's was the guitar work on Steely Dan's "Kid Charlemagne" from their 1976 LP The Royal Scam. A fine set of musicians those Steely's...
First time I have listened to Larry, recognise the custom guitar that Gibson made but never knew his music until now. Nice and easy relaxed laid back groove!
I am so amazed how Larry can play simultaneously pick and fingers in a so accurate manner ...managing everything without a singe false note Beeing able in the same time to give great effects when strocking the strings with his fingers and producing sharp tones with the pic or even the thumb.....also the way he bends simultaneously multiple strings to produce more deepness to the sound. He is just incredible especially with heavy gage electric Daddario strings !
The greatest gift in music I've experienced has to be this great pause between 7:36 - 8:21. I just love the lively response from the fans as they appreciated this landmark performance by Calton and his amazingly talented musicians. That guitar playing was right up there with So far away (The Crusaders) and Kid Charlemagne (Steely Dan).
The graphic should say Fourplay. That's Bob James on piano and Harvey Mason on drums. It's not just the Larry and Nathan show. It's on the album, "Yes, Please!"
I listened him in Buenos Aires one month ago. As good as usual. I met him at the lobby of the theater, We talked for a while and he was very kind and gentle. And, of course, I have a picture with him...
Thanks for the video, glad I found this, I love it! But the description is only "Larry Carlton - Nathan East - Blues Force", maybe because he only likes Larry and Nathan? What about Fourplay, Professor Bob, and Harvey Mason? And some of the comments here they seem didn't know about Fourplay. Well, Fourplay was founded in 1991, and this is actually the 2nd formation of Fourplay after Larry Carlton replaced Lee Ritenour in the late of the 90s (and later replaced by Chuck Loeb R.I.P), and this song came from their 7th album "Yes, Please!". For me, I like Lee's Fourplay more than Larry's, well I like Larry too but he made the fusion-pop-jazz Fourplay band too much Blues. I also like Chuck's music, but he then made Fourplay changed their music color a bit. By the way, I'm a big fan of Fourplay and also a fan of Bob James since the 80s. ✌️😊👍

Went to high school with Nathan and always so cool to see/hear him in action.
Sometimes a performance is so good that words don't do justice in describing it. This is one of those performances.
The "pause", alone. should win some kind of an award. L.C. remains at the top f the heap.
There is everything in Larry s solo, Emotion, share, strength, creativity, WHAOOOOO
I died musically many years ago...Thanks Larry ...!!!! I'm alive !!!..
Wonderful mix of blues guitar and strong but subtle piano genius, blended beautifully by bass& percussion. They do not "overplay" one another.Superb!
Yeah man they nailed!
Phenomenal piece of jazz...it’s going straight Into the memory bank
He is one of the best, and has played with some of the all timers!!
Love this blues playing. Guitar is great! Love it!❤️💕👍
Man this is the very definition of playing guitar so beutiful he may look abit like larry david but boy can he play love it.
Awesome! As good a blues guitarist as there is out there. Larry's intent is to have his guitar tell a story and, man, he makes that 6 string emote.
Damn I Love Larry's playing !!!
This is Fourplay when Larry played the guitar. Bob James piano; Nathan East electric bass; Harvey Mason drums and, of course, the great Larry.
Larry...you are GREAT.
These guys are having such fun! They've all got their music/sex faces going. :)

People, who do not play any instrument, do not know, that a musician does not just play...he is telling a story to you
And for Larry, what a story!!!! God bless him!!!
They don't? Everyone?

Larry on fire ❤
I do play an instrument, but it seems a little snooty to say non-musicians can’t understand music.

Shame Shame Shame Damn Damn Damn That's Some Amazing Grooves Vibes and Larry is The King💋👀🖤😊
I love it when musicians feel it. Yes they cut loose and rode that wave together sweetly. Fourplay. Outstanding foursome.
Dis this group of musicians ever record together - Larry, Nathan and Bob --- magic!
+AlanSturgess Look for Fourplay CD's. Don't forget Harry Mason on drums :-)
Larry is excellent. Doesn't get the recognition he commands. Was into jazz guitar players at 13. A musicians musician.God bless Larry Carlton.

Once again Bob James.and this group of musicians have merged different music genre’s (jazz, blues, rock, etc.) and delivered a masterpiece!
Watch for it when they go into the "freeze" OMG!!!! Brings the house down when they groove out of it! Brilliant! Purrfect Timing!
Man these guys make tasty jazz/blues fusion music. Love Larry's guitar. The rest of the band is tight, smooth and deadly. Fantastic.
Bob James pushed him to the limit great players always make you step up your game.
Carlton always has a great tone
And it certainly appears that he has his Howard Dumble amp with him here ......./s
Man, Larry is making love to that 335 !!! :O
Awesome way to end my Sunday! Very nice. Beautiful song performed by great musicians. Lots of respect for Larry.
So good.. Didn't find a word
Larry is always right on time eith the greatest licks. The man can play what more need be said. Silk.
One of the best "supergroups" of all time. You know how tight they are when they stop in sync like that; could listen to them for days on end!
Always enjoyable groove and music journey . Love that part of Larry , the bass is a big part as well as the piano . So so cool 🇨🇦
Great performance, love it so much.luks
Me ten minutes ago: 'holy shit, Larry Carlton playing with Nathan East, I wonder if this will make me pregnant'
That ES 335 and him were made for each other. What command, touch, know how…..the guy's Yoda.
Ларри как всегда великолепен!!! Приятно смотреть и слушать.
Thank you for Spitting Larry out this Way at 1st it was like but I Wasn't sure but when I Heard Sunrise that was it Thank you Baby Really Enjoy Them💋👀🖤😊

Fortunate enough to have seen this guitar player in concert a few times...incredible.
Never heard of this man before but are glad that I came across him and wonderful music wow wow wow wow just magnificent can't get enough of it.
I really like this!love the Steely Dan vibe!
Yah. Larry Carlton's was the guitar work on Steely Dan's "Kid Charlemagne" from their 1976 LP The Royal Scam. A fine set of musicians those Steely's...
larry really put his all in this solo, just excellent
The pianist is as famous if not more, he is Bob James. Out of the world with his touch and go and sense.
absolutely agree...and his piano playing on"Restoration"(Rittenour and friends") is also not of this world!
This is an awesome jazz session by Fourplay.
Smoothie
First time I have listened to Larry, recognise the custom guitar that Gibson made but never knew his music until now. Nice and easy relaxed laid back groove!
Watch Larry Carlton with Les Paul the first number (old central). That is REAL Jazz
Or cop his early work with Steely Dan, as well.
Wish I could be that cool just once!
Yep! American music is the best music on the planet! Thank you Mr. 335......

My heaven, should I get there, will be me just sitting and watching this magic
the world needs more music of this calibre
Larry carlton - guitar
Bob James -keys
Nathan East - Bass
Harvey Mason - Drums
The original team of Fourplay. Later came in guitar Lee Ritenour and Chuck Loeb. The other three still on the road.
I think you meant to say that Lee Ritenour was the original member, Larry replaced Lee and then Chuck replaced Larry. No dead wood in there!!
You´re right.
Very tite ....don't get better! ! !
Frank Jones, some great guitarists filled that spot. Thanks for spelling out the crew.
Simply BRILLIANT ManyThanx From Costa Mesa Ca My Dear Friends!!!,!,,!,!,!
Larry was awesome on Ray Manzerek"s album "The Golden Scarrob" Anyone remember that? His solo on "The Purpose of Existence Is?" is phenomenal !
Wonderful song! Thanks!

Straordinaria musica ❤
Wonderful musicians.
Wow!!! Beautiful!
Ausgezeichnet !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...perfekt !!!!!!!!!!!!1
You da Man Larry! Great band too.
Just so tasteful. Beautiful playing, Carlton is a monster!
Lee Ritenour is Better
Silly remark...they both can play, they are each unique
yeah that's true, but Lee Ritenour is better, and that's all their is to it!!,
what a stupid thing to say ! with musicians of that carat it's absurd to claim that one is better than the other.
Carlton pulls off licks that are outside of Lee's repertoire, and vice-a-versa. At their level, it's not "better" or "worse."

Great to see someone mention the So far away solo. He must have been very young back then, but damn he's on fire there :)
larry is a fucking beast, that's just all there is to it

Nathan with that smooth lines
Larry with that tone and feel
Harvey keeping the rhythm down like silk
The graphic should say Fourplay. That's Bob James on piano and Harvey Mason on drums. It's not just the Larry and Nathan show.
It's on the album, "Yes, Please!"

Sounds great, I haven;t heard much from Larry lately.
I listened him in Buenos Aires one month ago. As good as usual. I met him at the lobby of the theater, We talked for a while and he was very kind and gentle. And, of course, I have a picture with him...
Outstanding!
Larry Carlton & Alex Hutchings 2 of the best guitar player at the planet
All musicians are doing an outstanding job...but it is Bob James' piano solo I listen to over and over again
Thanks for the video, glad I found this, I love it! But the description is only "Larry Carlton - Nathan East - Blues Force", maybe because he only likes Larry and Nathan?
