      Legitimate question: can you use these little humidity chambers with say like a Resvent to increase humidity and comfort? I ask, because I have a Resmed Airsense 10 that after just one year is in for repair for a weird electrical issue (a problem I have seen multiple people post about on different boards now). And in the interim, my supplier provided me with a loaner machine (the Resvent). I am finding the humidity tank to be too small. And also that it doesn’t put out nearly enough humidity for me. I wake up so dried out (I use a nose pillow), due to the CPap, diabetes and meds that cause severe dry mouth, that I literally throw up every morning. Due to extreme nausea. I have seen nearly a dozen doctors to date. Nobody has a medical answer for this nausea and extreme dryness. Other than the CPap machine not giving me enough humidity and my meds causing it. I also live in the driest state in the US. Please let me know, if something like this might help! I am really struggling right now. And have no idea how long it may be to get back my machine. The supplier said it could be 4-5 months or longer!

    Saw this video and got a little excited, as I’ve got the Z1 and was thinking if there was a way of getting better humidity, this excitement was soon quashed though, bythe time you add the humidity chamber I may well will take my home unit with me, it would be smaller and more convenient to use.

    FYI Dry Mouth problem
    I was using a "Sleep Guard" to help me stop snoring before I was diagnosed with sleep apnea. I had 48 "sleep Events per hr. I had dry mouth and last few night I tried my "Snore No More" mouthpiece. This lets you breathe thru the small hole if need be but it prompts you to breathe thru your nose. I use a Phillips Nasal Pillow and had dry mouth.ˆ tried no
    snore guard as well and easier to breath thru your nose, no "Blow Back" thru the mouth and no dry mouth. A 100% improvement in all aspects and had a 05 breathing interruptions/hr in a 8.5 hr sleep. Snore Guard cast about $25.00 and work wonders. Definitely worth a try for those with the problem and not uncomfortable at all.

    Great idea if you use a travel device. Could you do a test on how much power it uses when connected to a 12v system? I've been looking to buy the Z2 Auto for several months but it's seems out of stock on the Aus site and most other sites. Have they stopped producing it?

    • @CPAPReviews
      @CPAPReviews  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Elaine, hope you're well. All heater elements do use a considerable amount of power. It wouldn't be a good option with a cpap battery system. For home use it's perfect. The Z2 is the best travel CPAP machine and there's just too much demand at the moment. I had a chat with Breas the other day and they are trying very hard to increase manufacturing but there's a lot of component shortages and supply chain issues. I believe there should be more stock in April. Best wishes my friend. Nick

    I have this setup with the AirMini - one downside is that there is no heated tubes so there can very easily be rainout if you aren't careful with how high the humidity setting is. That said, it is worlds better than the 'waterless humidification' options out there. If anybody knows about heated tube options that would work for this feel free to let me know!

    • @jcb0920

      This looks like an interesting option for my AirMini. Question...so you use the adapter to connect the hose to the AirMini unit. But what about the other hose coming out of the humidifier? Will it connect to a ResMed AirMini mask? Just thinking how the attachments work at the other end. Thanks in advance for your insight!

  • @idragon520

    I used this exact setup with horrible results. The first night, I had water in the tube. Lowered to the "2" setting. The second night, the tube between the humidifier and airmini was literally flooded with water! I had the air mini in a slightly lower position than the humidier. The room I was in was also fairly cold. Is there anything obvious Im doing wrong?

    Hey Nicko. I thought NZ was 240volts just like Aus. That's very strange they would make something only 110v (weird Kiwi logic?).
    Anyway, if someone was super desperate to use one of these at home in Aus, you could get a stepdown transformer (way too heavy to travel with) that would drop voltage from 240 to 110.

    • @CPAPReviews

    Hey Nicko, this is great and wondering if this is a solution for this situation: in humid weather my resmed 10 does not produce as much humidification as it's taking into account humidification in the air (as I understand it anyway). This is a big problem for me because it means there's not enough humidification coming from my CPAP and I pretty much can't use it as not enough lube in my throat to breathe so to speak. Perhaps you can touch on this in a future video?

    Using a mini or travel CPAP machine full time is not such a good idea! The motor is a lot smaller then the motor in a full size CPAP machine and spins at a much higher RPM! A mini/travel machine is designed to be used occasionally and full time use will cause the turbine motor to prematurely wear out and fail!
