I’ve always loved Bea she was super sweet in real life , she left a lot of money to organizations to help LGBTQIA’s youth, animal shelter, she had a passion for people, a true passion.
@@patrictu6059 maybe people just got her wrong because she was so mysterious and wasn’t a Hollywood luvvie or close to many people..? Who knows all I know is she was a great actress.
what a classy lady, I will always miss her. I grew up watching golden girls, raised by me grandmother it was a weekly show on our tv and she was always my favorite golden girl. I always loved her.
I had the privilege of seeing Bea's one woman show (2002 was it?). I'll never forget it.... a bunch of us were waiting for her to come out behind the theatre after the show. She came out and seemed so humble and surprised to see all of us. She waved and smiled and got in her car. As the car drove off, my friend went chasing after it yelling "BEA! BEA! BEAAAAA!" and did a few somersaults while flailing his arms around like a crazy person. It was such a hilarious scene. I hope she got a kick out of it in the car :) RIP Bea. We miss you!
I love it when people like you share personal experiences. What an awesome story! A lifetime memory for sure. My mom loved Bea Arthur in Maude as well as TGG. RIP Bea.
Mike was very gentle with Bea. He was either a good TV study himself or was briefed well on Bea's personality by his producer. He did everything he could to make her at ease.
Loving 're runs of The Golden Girls, lunch times here in England at the present, and loved it in 1990's too!!! Dorothy's one liners are wonderful, they actually make you laugh out loud. XX 💖
Bea didn't like talkshows and interviews because she disliked appearing as herself in front of an audience. She took to seeing them as little plays: it's less scary when you play a character called Bea Arthur. It's the same thing she did during her one woman show. I wouldn't be surprised the Dorothy laugh was part of her performance.
What a TREAT! Bea Auther was such a funny, sweet, amazing human being, from Maude to Golden Girls and the many stage performances she ruled. She is very missed because she was a Legend. Bea's razor sharp wit and kiss my butt attitude could not be matched nor will it. We miss you Bea and Thank You for sharing all your talents and giving us always something to smile about. Thanks for posting this awesome Bea Arthur Canadian interview. I loved it when he made Bea laugh at 6:10 . You also posted my other idol, Majel Barrett Roddenberry. Thank you, thank you!!!!
Bea Arthur was a wonderful actress. Very funny indeed and on the Golden Girls as Dorothy she reminds me of my late mom but with a deeper voice! Bea ‘s hair is lovely here I love that white pure gray. My mom’s hair was this Color too!
Bea was a real man’s man. She arm wrestled John Wayne and won! Oh I’m j/k. I was a big fan and her Golden Girls character was my favorite. The delivery of those sarcastic biting lines as Dorothy was brilliant. ❤️
Thanks for posting! A huge fan since Maude and of course The Golden Girls. I made sure I had a 2d row seat to her one woman show on Broadway. She was amazing, sensed my fandom and played a lot directly to me. Total professional. You see how she worked this crowd. That is exactly how she was in person. I think she would be mortified and disgusted by the stories of discord on Golden Girls set. That was private business which should never have been disclosed.
@@mckavitt13 All I'm aware of is that Bea sometimes didn't get on with Betty because of their differing styles, but it wasn't nearly as bad as some people make it out to be.

Could have done with more of this, she's great off the GG too, funny, dry and animated, even though she's a lot older here she's still uniquely beautiful and attractive.
You’re right about her being unique. Her beauty was not the conventional cookie cutter kind but those beauties tend to age well although Betty White is a conventional beauty and has aged amazingly. I like people who are a bit different from the ‘norm’ and Bea definitely was. Love all the Golden Girls, all fabulous.
I adored ‘Maude’ Bea Arthur delivered something killer lines, not quite so obvious as Dorothy zingers, but there if you listen. Superb comedy which the U.S.A seems to do either brilliantly or really, really badly. Let us have a complete rerun of ‘Maude’
