As someone who has a bizarre love affair with vintage Volvo’s, I love the direction Volvo has been taking recently. There was a period where nothing they were making was standing out from the rest, coming from a more boutique auto manufacturer.
Curtis Lovrak I feel the same way. I love their Swedish individuality and their interiors have been gorgeous and really minimal. The Polestar 1 is a stunning car, the proportions are spot on and I really like the front and rear designs and how they connected them with the lines along the sides.
Designed beautifully yes but also too expensive, missing the sound. that you traditionally associated with muscle cars. So half the fun is already gone. All that's left is the power. So what's the appeal other than its design. 🤔 What does it do that your traditional muscle doesn't.. fuel and emissions savings..
@@F1ll1nTh3Blanks True, but... You get one of the most responsive steering systems in the world, a car the will embarrass most sports cars on a long stretch of road and a cabin that will make you wanna sell your house and move into it permanently.
This is not a muscle car both American and European muscle car, a C63 AMG is what you would call the European Muscle Car, the Polestar 1 I will say is a bonafide GT Cars given the perfomence, price, and styling elegance which to be honest won't feel weird if you parked it next to Bentley Continental GT, Mercedes S63 AMG, Aston Martin DB11, BMW M8, Ferrari FF/GTC4 Lusso, Ferrari F12 and Rolls Royce Wraith. The exterior design is very good looking infact it's more elegant than the Bentley Continental GT while the interior although very Volvo ish is not bad looking and actually a very nice place to be, I will say that the interior design of Volvo nowadays are very elegant and wouldn't look out of place in a US$100k car.
I have driven one and has loved the comfort and visibility while just driving it. When you set it to the more dynamic driving modes and put your foot down it goes like a serious sportscar. It can transition from a comfortable GT car to a rather pure racing tool. The sound of the 4-cyl engine is quite well tuned, despite being a derivate of a Volvo powerplant. The torque-vectoring really works, you can turn the car in curves that would not go in a regular vehicle. The shove from the rear axle electric motors is quite fierce. What is the most amazing: it has a respectable pure electric range if the PHEV batteries are charged. So in a city you can glide around on pure electric power, which is an attractive option if you want to transport yourself in a sustainable and environmental friendly way, while still having access to the facilities of a grand tourer vehicle. This is a bridge between fossile fuel powertrains and a pure electric world. Yes, it has many Volvo parts, but as a whole you get a unique combo of style, performance and Swedish craftmanship.
I love the fact that Jason knows how to pronounce Ohlins and coupe like an European! His obsession on German cars, featuring his Instagram is an absolute blast

Really enjoy the reviews @ISSIMI Official On the subject of the Polestar 1: I can’t get around the impression, that the car would be very impressive if it had been released in 2015. But nowadays it feels outdated compared to true performance electric cars. And for a petrol head an 48V-electrified 5 cylinder with torque vectoring all real-drive might have been more impressive. Still quite a pretty car, a shame really not to call it a Volvo C70 Hybrid, ditch one of the two electric engines, the carbon fiber body and put it into mass production.
Nah other way around, the big ICE system is weighing it down. Start with a proper industry standard 400v EV and add a simpler bigger Turbo only i4 1.6L. 48v is for weak slow cars. You want at-least a single big motor on the Rear Axel minimum 300lb/ft of torque. Then what ever the 1.6L can addon to the front. That would be a cheaper just as fun tail happy monster.

Honestly, one of the more fun and enjoyable stuff these days that changes my day after watching Jason. Always see the new video on Fridays and really starts my weekend with a smile. Jason, you mentioned the BMW steering, as an old E46 driver, in the midst of revitalizing the old boy, can you do a segment on the BMW 3 series. Drove the new one and felt all the joy was taken out of it, though I know the 2 is where it's at now for the fun factor, but would love to see you do a history on the 3 series. How do the mirrors reduce drag by 1/3 if you can change how they direct airflow? Isn't this why all manufacturers fix their mirrors in place after studying the best possible aerodynamic layout?
