“I’m a farm kid” Love you Wilder. You are smart beyond your years. All the kids are. Very smart, and they all love to help. That’s the way we grew up. We were farm kids to. When your kids grow up get married and have kids of their own they will truly see how blessed they were to be raised the way they were raised. It’s a blessing to me. I’m proud that I was a farm kid. ♥️
Me to 😍
@@debinbc At 65 just short of 66 I too am glad to be a farm kid! Memories of all the things I helped do and accomplished helped me when I was a city dweller and now with my chickens and garden. Loving life!
I am so happy that God provided the rental house, especially for the winter. His blessings will continue to flow over you all. sending love in Christ and hugs for you all from this Grandma.
Your youngest son is stealing the show but all your kids are such pleasant people. Well done you two!!!
I also agree! I thought the little guy on Arts back said he farted!🥰so cute!
@@conniedemers4479 Haha, are they not the cutest kids?
"I'm a Farm Kid"...great t-shirt, for kids of all ages! Bri, that apple sauce looks amazing.
With little Wilder on it!
One of the girls on another shirt could be saying: "I'm a future lawyer, so I released the kwaken"... pointing at some geese and ducks walking by.
Homegrown, scraggly, ruff around the edges describes the Best homestead families & farms. Nurtured by God, living together in a house that love built.
Yes! Ping ping! Love that sound! This year Mom heard it over the phone and asked what I was canning. We shared a lovely moment over canning. She has Alzheimer’s. These moments are so precious. So now for the rest of my life the pinging sound will be extra precious to me.
I've heard from other UA-camrs that Ball no longer recommends putting jars in the oven for warming, they are not intended for any kind of dry heat processing and recommend they be kept warm in hot water or in the dishwasher. Good for you helping others to see that canning isn't a mysterious and dangerous process. Thank you!
Wilder steals the show again! He's such a cutie pie!
Agreed!
I think he is the main character of their videos LOL love this family
@@cindylawson9714 oh most definitely,
He's so adorable 😍🤗😍 e
I think Wilder is taking the farm over in a year!
Opening on Wilder... "I'm a farm kid"... heart melts... thanks for another great day on the homestead, because you could have just ended right there 😍
"There's hole in your bucket, Dear Liza, Dear Liza. Theirs hole in bucket Dear Liza, Today." LOL
THERE IS ... OR there's ... lol ... retired school teacher
@@aussiegardener1773 Thanks fixed it.
That canner was already on the blink. Those rust spots just won't hold up. Once they show up, the pot is a gonner. Use it as a "flower pot."
Or haul veggies from the garden.
Every time. Wilder is so cute. He steals the show each time.
Hi..... Art and Bri nice to see you all thank you for sharing your video homestead chicken farmer garden 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 👕🐔🐓🐥🐕🐖🐈🌱🐐🐄🎥👍👍👍
We live in Northern Alberta, 🇨🇦 and when I heard the temperature I laughed. We are sitting at -21 and feels like -26. Had to put a couple heat lamps in with the chickens. They love me. 😊. Ideally, we want them to acclimate to the cool temps but when it gets those temps we need to step in. Love your channel. Keep up the great works. Blessings 😊💕🙏🏻
i dont know how you and Art maintain so much knowledge with all your farming chores
56yrs old and proud to be a farm kid !
He's a farm kid, and proud of it! ❤️
We had a tragedy this week in our town with a bull encounter, so always, always know he's unpredictable, no matter how chill he is at the moment 🥰
I love watching you and your family! Thank you for sharing your lives with us. 💕
Yes, that "dink" is like music to our ears! I just finished a last batch of bread and butter pickles and 2 batches of green tomato salsa verde!!! The last of the year!!! We had a bumper crop year of tomatoes, blackeyes, cukes, winter squash, and okra!!! We are thankful here in Northern California! "I'm a farm kid"!Love you guys!
LOVE OUR HENS. SCOOP THE POOP AND SCRAPE THE ROOST!!!!
You need an apple wedger, so much quicker to cut apples up.
I always love the parting phrase above the episode number. This one was especially sweet. Your children are beautiful and y'all are giving the greatest gift.....a healthy and fun childhood!
loving Bre vloging she is pleasent to listen to :)
Wilder is the coolest kid. I love him.
Wilder is the cuttest ever, steeals the show all the time!❤❤❤❤
We tried something new this year. We cut & peeled our apples and instead of grinding them up we pressure cooked them. They are some of the smoothest applesauce I have ever had. Smooth as silk.
I always peel my apples for apple sauce. One year I cooked them down with the skins on to save time and then ran them through a food mill but we did not like the dark color of the apple sauce when you cook them down with the skins on.
ANY large pot can be used as a water bath canner so long as they are deep enough to hold enough water to cover the jars.
Yah, we weren't very particular with my mom and grandma. ;)
Love Wilder's reply, "I'm a farm kid". So cute. Don't throw out the canner with the holes in it. It will make a great planter for outdoors come Spring. Thanks for sharing another great day on the homestead.
IR? I save everything that will hold a plant. Even the strainer from an old spaghetti pot.
@@gelwood99 me too.
Broken bricks can be used as borders, to help drainage, or as thermal mass around plants... BUT de-cluttering by getting rid of it is great too.
the apple with the bottom "on the side" isn't fully pollinated - the seeds in that part aren't viable, so the tree doesn't waste resources fleshing it out. The orchard it grew in needs more bees!
Found your lovely family and channel recently. 🐔. Thank you. 💗
We always dump out our shoes and tap them together hard. Between the brown recluse, black widows, scorpions and centipedes, we can’t slip our shoes on until they’ve been thoroughly tapped out.
Over the years I have collected jars from Goodwill. This year I was able to purchase 15 widemouth jars for a good price. My sweet friend helped me empty 15 boxes of jars out of my parents cellar. Only 5 jars of too old venison meatballs, pickled beets and tomatoes. 5 jars isn’t to bad.
You could put a rivet in the pot to repair it. My dad always repaired pans that way. He passed away today 86 years old.
My condolences to you & your family on the passing of your father 🤗❤️
Thanks for the acknowledgment 💙
Sorry for your loss.
@@donnastevens8832 Thanks Donna 💙
Maybe a tad rough around the edges but your farm still exudes such beauty. Blessings to all.
ART & BRI....you can use your pressure canner instead! Don't "lock" it down, just use a lid that will cover the top and there you go....an impromptu water bath canner...it works!
all your kids are so smart and that Wilder is so smart for his age. he amazes me with his comments
If you want to make your hay last longer, a good bail-type hay feeder can cut wastage from upwards of 50% of every bale to barely a handful. Of course, the wasted hay isn't there to use as their bedding, but if they're not sleeping on their good nutritious expensive hay because they're eating it all, you can get low-grade straw or sawdust or woodchips for their bedding.
Broken bricks are good when you need a half brick. Great progress, I get needed encouragement from your family. Thank you!
PLEASE COME BACK! YOU AND YOUR FAMILY ARE NEEDED AND MISSED!
🧱🧱💡🧱But anytime you work in masonry you need pieces. Don’t throw the broken away. Unless you want to break whole 🧱 later
Disabled and 57 in a few days , my first garden this year. I had a fall winter garden planned but my back decided against it. Looking at surgery this spring. I'm planning on teaching my son's what I know this spring, I'm gonna need workers so my sons will be appointed. 😁
We invested in an Electric canner. Best investment ever 😳 👌 saves so much stove space and I can set it by the sink. No more hauling water back and forth.
It definately was a "great day on the homestead!"
I have atleast 4 cases of small jars that I'm willing to send you if you want them.. I bought extra little ones(jelly) and didn't use them..
That is so nice of you.
Joyful's comment on wanting apple glasses is great! It is inspiring some ideas.
I love Haralson apples, great all around use, eating, applesauce, pie, anything you can think of. Just the right balance of sweet and tart. If you grow them you need to thin the apples as they grow in clusters, so thinning gets you much bigger apples. Here in northern Minnesota, we wait for the leaves on the tree to start turning color, at that point the apples are as big and as ripe as they will get. I've kept them in the bottom drawer of my fridge in perfect shape for 6 months.
We missed the apple harvest this year on our homestead... since we’re new, there is just too much to do that took precedence. Happy Thanksgiving guys!
You can put something On the bottom of a big stainless steel pot and put your jars in them to can that’s what I do. I don’t have one of those big canners. she can use her big pots they work. thanks for the video.🤗🥰🇨🇦
Clean canner pot... Find a heavy bounce ball insert then use as a ball chair.. put some felt on bottom so doesn't scratch the floor.... 👍
Sir , you can’t take this lady’s grain . 😂 LOL Love you guys , be blessed and favored 🙏🏽❤️ Oh yeah Bri , the musical canners ping ! The most satisfying sound !
Always a blessing to watch all of you! I don't know how Bri does all she does! I am truly amazed!
I enjoyed watching Bri cutting up and canning the apples 🍎! 😊👍💕💕💕
Keep some of the broken ones for the half bricks you'll need building that firepit.
You are right to be cautious of the bull. My brother in law was killed by a bull he raised from a calf.
Use your pressure canner as a water bath. Do it all the time as a second canner when doing waterbath
Brie they look like Cortland apples. Perfect for baking
Whhhuuaatt?? "He's sweet steer, and i know he will really taste amazing'" how could you?😂
He’s precious, love your family let all of them join in the conversation 💚🌸💚
Never Throw Away Bricks ! Farm kids love to play with them!
Love and prayers for your whole family!
That little man is a natural at the outside life love your adventurers
Patch the canner with JB weld.
Thank you for sharing 😊👍👌❣️🤗
BOSTO BE OF SERVICE TO OTHERS
Sharing your channel is BOSTO 👍👏❣️🤗
YAY applesauce.....& Apple butter 👏👏👏👍👍👍👌👌👌❤️😁
Dinner with friends 😋👌😁
We also had the no jars and I was also wondering when they would be stocked up again. I really figured it would not be until next spring. However about a week ago they were in Walmart, and I also found them at a local small country shop. And the prices are pretty normal. I had tried to order online in the no availability and they were asking 100 dollars for a dozen. I was blown away. Obviously did not order but thought oh no I hope that when they are available there is no taking advantage. But they are not. Maybe a few dollars more. I can live with that. The apples look like honey crisp. and yes. that clink or ping lol. it is the best feeling.
Stock pots work great. I've use them for years. 😊
When I do my sauce, I use Cortland, Honeycrisp, McIntosh, and Jonathan. I will do 6 bushel just for Apple sauce. 2 for pie filling. 2 for Apple butter. Happy eating. Stay safe.
Try lemon juice to add to your apples when you’re ready to make a pie.
Oh that Wilder!!♡♡♡ I'm a farm kid!!! Love it!!♡♡
I use my American Standard pressure canner to water bath. Use it just as you would a Water Bath canner. Genius Laura. Lol
Food security is so important ! good for you.
Your kids i tell ya ! Love and peace to ya all
They look like a Gala Apple - the right amount of sweet and tart - we sell the little ones like that here in New Zealand in bags as kids apples - also inside the supermarket door as you get to the produce section there is a basket of fruit that is free for the kids to get a piece to eat in store - they are allowed to walk around eating it
Oh my goodness, Art, you put your foot through the canner! I know it's not really funny, but I can't stop laughing! Maybe it has something to do with the 120+ quarts of applesauce and apple butter I've made the past few weeks that's making me punchy. I wish I lived close enough to give you my extra canner. Glad you found something that works. Thank you for the laugh. I guess I really needed that!
Water bath in any large pot that will submerge the cans by an inch
So many blessings 🙂
Those cobwebs in the barn would be driving me crazy. I hate spiders. So I would be taking a broom to the webs as soon as I seen one,
I just love watching the huge smile that is always on Bri's face now that you have all of that room at the rental.
Yeah, I'm frustrated about jars, too.
Mom gets a new canner!!!
You can use a roaster for canning foods. Just turn on two burners instead of one.
Maybe that's the reason why the apples are sweet, you didn't peal them ... enjoy every bit of it
I'm in central Ohio and starting to see jars at Kroger and Menards.
Bri, stores are starting to get jars in around the country. Keep checking the stores... I've seen them at Walmart and Kroger so far.
Hey Art, last year an ad for Indestructible shoes showed up in my video feed and I bought a pair for $79.00. I liked them and started looking at other companies that sell them. I found the Ryder ones with the woven mesh like you have and I bought them in green, grey and black. They were also less than $30.00 a pair. I also bought the toggle button on the shoe lace as well. I too don't really trust the soles to counter a nail but they are still great farm shoes.
If you can’t find a canner because you generally add lemon juice to your applesauce or most do, you could open kettle can the applesauce just have to make sure everything is hot, the sauce, the jars, the lids and rings fill jars, wipe rims like normal put a hot lid and ring on tighten as usual and set aside they should seal just fine. I used to do this all the time before I had a pressure canner that I use for a regular canner now...
Sandra Westley in the Uk there is no such thing as a canner or a pressure canner, you do it your way, or fill the jars put on the lids heat in the oven to a certain temperature then take out and tighten lids, that’s how bottling has always been done for years in the UK, and jam making, is similar but not put in the oven, and I have never lost any or do I remember my mother losing anything to going bad etc.
Good job 4 kids,,, find an area 4 them to stack... With some air spaces to avoid mold..... Yes fire pit. Teach kids n let them have a go at it.... 🤔
Yes the 'PING' is a great sound
Really enjoy watching your videos
I was able to order 6 cases of quart size at Walmart. Ordered online for store pickup. Good luck finding what you need
Yes I do. I’m going to make my set of apple glasses tomorrow
Some apples have pink or red flesh! I have a small Pink Pearl apple tree that has pink flesh and I have a red-fleshed one on a waitlist at Raintree Nursery.
Good work Bri you look so happy and pleased with yourself for having done all that canning xxx
My mom use to water pack all our fruit. My grandfather lived with us and was diabetic. It was just easier to water pack everything. To this day, peaches in heavy syrup is a real treat.
Good job Art
1999 is calling Art and asking where he got such a nice flip phone.
You had a good day
So much closer too your goal. God bless you all.
Free just caught you on this feed after your long weekend at Maya and Jess's it's cold here this afternoon and I have just been kind of binge watching UA-cam had forgotten I was supposed to subscribe to you got that done this afternoon but watch this canning thing on applesauce this is a beautiful color you just said you got juice apples did you ever find out what variety they were and how did you keep them such a pretty color thanks Bree and I think I'm going to love watching you guys take care from Ohio
Binge watching.
