Ghetto Blaster, The easiest DIY Vapor Blaster conversion I have ever done! Pt.1

  • This is a project I have attempted a number of times, all ending in failure until now.
    I always had a feeling that these cabinets had potential, and thats why I kept trying. This time I thought had also ended in failure, until by pure luck, I swapped in one of my 3d printed nozzles at just the right point in time. With a few extra tweaks I got the SBC-100 cabinet functioning as a vapour blasted with very minimal modification and without cutting or drilling at all.
    Future parts will cover the additional modifications you can use to improve your blasting experience should you go down the path of converting one of these.
    Any questions, feel free to comment or send me an email at:

    Good to see the printed nozzle is still going. Once I get a cabinet together I will try something similar.

    I have that same unit and it is a very good working media blaster, I guess it is about how it is setup and what media you use, but I would want the bigger units to do this modification,
    Thanks for the video,,

    I have this cabinet and as a sandblaster it is one of the most horrible tools i have ever got. I like this conversion! It will be its last hope before it will go to the scrapyard.

      Yeah they suck as a sandblaster, but I have made a few different versions of vapour blaster from these that work quite well

    I dont see where the advantage is over just sand or beads. Without the added extra cost of the plumbing and electrical

    I just can't get this finish. I'm using your 3D printed gun and a 340W Ozito submersible pump.
    Do you think the pump might be under-powered?

    How do I get one of your 3d nozzles? Also, what would you have in mind for airflow through the cabinet to clear the air up?
    Have you considered doing some kind of rubber automotive undercoating around the bottom half of the cabinet to stop leaks?

      Hey mate,
      Flick me an email at the email listed in the video description. I have one in the printer right now. I will test it tomorrow and can have in on the courier Monday morning.
      I am planning on just running a couple of snorkels to allow the air out. You can use rubberized liners, but I usually just strip the two halves and run a bead of silicone.
      Thanks for watching!

    Looks like You're a bit low on grit in the jet stream? Anyway, thanks for sharing this!

    • @ArmouryEnterprises
      @ArmouryEnterprises  3 роки тому

      Yeah its just a symptom of the suction type set up having no slurry pump or agitation.

    What cfm and hp and pressures were you using?

    • @ArmouryEnterprises
      @ArmouryEnterprises  3 роки тому

      Hey Mate,
      I run a 3hp compressor on this rated at around 12cfm. I don't have a regulator but it would have been fluctuating between 45 and 120psi (for short periods) where the compressor cuts out.
      As you can see, its still a bit small.
      Thanks for watching!

    What media and grit are you using here? I have a similar setup using 80 grit glass bead, and it doesn’t even touch the surface. It may be my compressor isn’t up to snuff, but I’m not sure...

    • @ArmouryEnterprises
      @ArmouryEnterprises  2 роки тому

      Hi Michelle,
      I use glass beads at around that same size (250-125 micron). Compressor is a big consideration. It really needs to be absolute bare minimum of 3hp belt driven.
      Also what gun are you using?

    what kind of water pump? set up? you did there? any link? it's like a baby wetsanblaster..cool

    • @ArmouryEnterprises
      @ArmouryEnterprises  Рік тому

      No pump in this one, just the suction action from the gun. Thats why it struggled a bit.

      @@ArmouryEnterprises will you advise adding more power to it by adding water pump? if you do, what the specs of the water pump you recommend?

    hi mate, love your videos! currently building a simple cabinet my self, just wondering what media and what grit you are running, as well as what water/media ratio and psi ?
    thanks in advance!

    • @ArmouryEnterprises
      @ArmouryEnterprises  3 роки тому +2

      Hi Corey,
      I use 250 - 125 micron glass bead. I run media ratios of between 15% media right up to about 50% media. I use 40 - 50 psi if I want more of a glossy finish, or 90psi for a more matt finish.
      Thanks for watching!

      your a legend mate! exact answer i was searching for , 1 more question, i see a lot of people in the vapour blast business run or recommend a anti corrosion protectant after blasting, how do you go about that? do you put a coating on your parts, spray them or don’t run a anti corrosion protection

    • @ArmouryEnterprises
      @ArmouryEnterprises  3 роки тому +1

      @@coreycartledge2432 Personally I don't unless the customer requests it. Steel applications I run a desalter in the slurry like Hold tight. For aluminium where requested, I use ACF-50.

    Have you ever tried to see what results by just using a siphon feed gun without the pump Josh for like people that don't want to buy the pump setup or is this set without pump i think i just heard you say that at the end Lol 😄
