    I bought your plans 6 months ago or so and it was money well spent! There was a ton of info and great detail you provided, and admittedly I had to watch some of them multiple times haha. I couldn't be more happy with this vapor blastor though, you really took the time to test what parts work well for this and your parts list and links were extremely helpful for purchasing!

    I just built my own out of wood too. Metal base bottom. 40 by 20 inside. $45 cost. Found the air duct that I used for the base funnel. Not pressure sealed for water but I could up grade it. I'm just using walnut shells. I'm only 14, so I think any one can do this. :) Great video. By the way, Truck bed liner on wood is cheat. Two coats work.

    I used rubber resin for 3D printing as a sealer. Just use an infrared lamp and it’s dry in 2 seconds. It has a tick viscosity and I can brush it on with a hand paint brush anywhere. And the best part is that the rubber resin is strong enough to withstand blasting. Literally no dry time and done in an hour with 8-9 layers.

    You have to make sure your fish are happy in your Vapor honing cabinet...I had to come back and watch this video again my friend. I was not aware that you were a mechanical engineer. I am a chemical engineer and I dislike it. I found a business that I wanted to invest in. It is a small engine business. As I was negotiating with the owner he decides out of the blue to retire and all of a sudden I have access to a plethora of customers. I had the idea of doing free pickup and delivery because I cannot have customers coming to my house because of where I live. I figured that I can rent or buy a shop as I move forward. So now It will be my small engine repair and mobile welding business. I am finding out that all my ideas were things he was already doing and people love what he was offering. There is almost no competition. The businesses that exist do not take new customers now , only old accounts. It is kind of scary coming from working a 9-5 and having everything done for me.It is extremely exciting though.

    Some people think they need the best of the best brand new and nothing less. And yeah sometimes that’s nice but it’s not a necessity. I agree with you 100% there’s no way to live. I see some guys trying to live like that and frankly they can’t even afford it, some people are too worried about status quo others think like you said they can’t get a good result without it. I mean who doesn’t want something brand new the best the best but it’s not everything you have to pick and choose me. Sometimes I might not want to cheap out on something i so buy a better quality, but Used. First and foremost, don’t go above your means get creative. Be happy life isn’t all about material items.

    This is a very comprehensive video on your cabinet build, so thank you for sharing it. As others here have said, it is so well finished that it appears to have come from a factory. I have had some experience doing dry media blasting but it interests me that there is such a thing as "vapor" blasting as you mention here. Could you explain the mechanics of this type of blasting, which situations call for wet vs dry blasting, and what media is used in the slurry? or could you point me in the right direction to view or read about this method of blasting. Thanks, again.

    • @HTMR
      @HTMR  2 роки тому

      Google "vapor blasting" there is a ton of info on the process. Main benefit is that you can use finer media and the water acts as a lubricant, so the finish comes out smooth and shiney. Great for aluminum and other soft metals.

    Matt, I love this project, I think I'm going to get plans and build one. I have a question. what are my options for possibly blasting something outside of the cabinet? Working on an old truck hot rod project. Fenders and doors have complex shapes and overlaps at the seams. Would like to do those areas with the blaster. Could I go out in my driveway and do those parts. It would be very seldom that would be necessary. I assume I would lose/contaminate the media at that point, do you think that would be an acceptable cost/complication for that occasional scenario ?

    • @HTMR
      @HTMR  3 роки тому

      It would not work well because you would pump all water and media out in no time. It would be a total loss system. Good media in this cabinet costs $1/lb. Better off using a pressure pot blaster for those projects.
