Thank you so much. This helped me to verify that it is indeed safe to plug my electric guitar into my focusrite and use it alongside a condenser mic that requires phantom power. I couldn't find a for sure answer until now, so it looks like it's time to jam.
Wow, amazing. So easy to understand. I've been so intimated doing getting an external audio interface. So glad, all these tutorials exist now. Can't wait to start jamming on my pc.
The SM7B requires gain (max) by default, and no phantom. Might be important to let people know this as more and more homebrew podcasters set things up.
Thanks for your feedback! We do explain that dynamic microphones generally do not require additional phantom power. The gain required will vary as it is ultimately dependant on what you are recording. In your setup, you may have found that you get the best results when working with the gain at maximum but that certainly will not be required for all applications involving a Shure SM7B.
Hi! I just got this today and have everything installed, the monitor light is on, however when I plug my guitar in - it doesn't seem to register. I'm getting no audio, and the halo's around the two gain knobs don't light up. Not sure what to do. Any tips?
Hi! I downloaded the drivers and updated the device, but when I plug it and choose ASIO on the preferences window, I cannot hear anything from mic (guitar its fine) and I can only see very low amplitude waves when using moving the microphone. If I choose MME/DirectX, I can hear the sound from both guitar and mic.

Hello, Focusrite Team. I've just bought my Scarlet 2i2 and I have a question: In a scenario that I'm recording vocal (with a condenser mic) and other instrument, there is no problem turning the phantom power on? I should always do like you guys in the videos, first connect the vocal and turn on the phantom power and then connect the instrument? The phantom power doesn't interfere in the other channel?
Hi Raphael, only devices connected via XLR and requiring power will draw from the 48v, so yes the above scenario is completely safe. We do recommend having everything plugged in prior to turning +48v on though 😉
Excellent video! I came here trying to clear a doubt regarding using INST vs Line mode... If I connect my guitar to a RC-500 looper should I use INST mode or the Line mode? Can I damage my Focusrite if I use the INST mode? These are the output values of the RC-500: Nominal Output Level: OUTPUT A/MONO, B: -10 dBu Maximum. Output Level: OUTPUT A/MONO, B: +8 dBu. Output Impedance: OUTPUT A/MONO, B: 1 k ohm. These are the input levels of the Focusrite 2i2: Line Impedance: 60kΩ - 66kΩ. Line Maximum Input Level - at Minimum Gain: +22dBu - 26dBu. Instrument Impedance: 1.5MΩ - 2.3MΩ. Instrument Maximum Input Level - at Minimum Gain: +12dBU - 14dBU.
Hi, thanks for reaching out. The maximum output level of the looper will not be strong enough to damage your interface. INST level will likely be the best choice for a pedal of that output level.
Hello, thanks for the explanation. It help! But i have a problem when I'm connecting my guitar with INST on, it become so noisy! And if I don't turn it on, the record volume is very low. Can you help and give me solution with that? Thank you
Hi, first you should make sure your guitar is putting out enough signal, if you have any pedals, DI, or other modules before going into the interface, they could be resulting in a low signal. Otherwise, I would refer to this article that offers troubleshooting for noise in your recordings, because the INST level should be optimal for recording guitar. support.focusrite.com/hc/en-gb/articles/211615185-Why-is-there-unwanted-hum-noise-in-my-monitors-
Hi Harsh, you can plug a condenser and dynamic mic in simultaneously without damaging anything. The voltage will only be drawn by devices that need it.
I think video such as this should explicitly say that there is a third group of microphones called Electret microphones which are not compatible with this interface without an extra adapter such as Rode VXLR+ (the plus at the end is important, the model without the plus sign will not work). Electret microphones require 3-5 V bias voltage which Scarlett doesn't support because it only has options 0 V (true dynamic microphone) and 48 V (true condenser microphone). The bias voltage is often called "Plugin power" or "Plug in Power" in marketing material. The Rode adapter I mentioned above requires 48 V phantom power and it contains a high quality converter that outputs 5 V bias voltage required for electret microphones. And you need that high quality converter to keep noise floor down.
Thanks for your feedback Mikko. That's correct, the Combo sockets that feature on our audio interfaces supply +48v phantom power to the XLR portion of the socket only. This allows them to be used for safely connecting line level/instrument level sources via 1/4" with phantom power engaged but means that many Electret microphones can't be connected and powered. John // Focusrite UK 🇬🇧
Great video!! Just one question, I'm using a Condenser Mic from SE Electronics with its own 230v power supply. What is the safest way to use the mic in conjunction with the 2i2??
Hi, typically it's not best practice to unplug when +48v is on, but providing the equipment is not showing any obvious damage in terms of diminished sound quality it should be fine
Hey @FocusriteHelp! I just got my 2i2 and I am using a Shure SM57, just like you showed in the video, connected via XLR. Question: Is it normal that I have to set the gain on the 2i2 almost to maximum? I didn't see any green light until I had the knob on 3 o clock, but in order to get consistent green blinking with every word I say, I have to put it on max. In audacity I see a max recording level of -14 with this setting.
Hi, thank you for reaching out and we'd be happy to answer any questions you may have. Dynamic microphones such as the Sm57 typically are less sensitive than condenser microphones, requiring more gain to capture audio. This gain level is expected if you are capturing a quiet source, vocals such as spoken. If the vocals you are capturing are being recorded clean, then you have nothing to worry about, but please let us know if we can answer additional questions.
You will need to ensure your DAW channel is set up to receive signal from whichever channel you have your mic plugged into. For instance, if you are recording a guitar plugged into the second input on a 2i2, set the input on that channel to be input 2. If you need further help with this please contact tech support bit.ly/FocusriteSupport
I'm encountering an issue here. While recording the Guitar with pedals & micing the amp, the gain on focusrite is maxed out. I'm unable get the same sound as that from my amp when i listen to the recording. It doesn't sound clean at all. What am I doing wrong here?
Thank you for this. You made this crystal clear. Question.... So, It's only for one mic and an instrument, right? What should i do if I already have a Scarlett 2i2 and want to do a podcast with 2 people? I have a second mic, but it doesn't seem to be reading when I put it in port 2.
Scarlett 2i2 should have no problem capturing two microphones. Make sure both of your cables are functional, and that phantom power (+48V) is enabled if either microphone is a condenser mic. You should then just be able to set the gain of both inputs and set the track inputs accordingly in your DAW. Please let us know if this helps or if you have additional questions.
If I plug in my guitar into effect pedal(s), then to the focusrite scarlett without an amp, which mode should I enable? the Inst mode or the Line mode?
I have an Ibanez EWB20 acoustic fretless bass guitar that has 1/4 trs and xlr inputs. This instrument takes two AA batteries. Will phantom power take the place of the battery? Or should I not run phantom power with the xlr to this bass?
I plugged my guitar in but the ring around the gain knob doesn't light up at all and I also can't hear it in Reaper even after setting the scarlett as my audio device
Hi there, if the gain halo is not lighting up at all in response to your guitar, check your guitar (battery if applicable) and cable are definitely fully functional. Turn the gain dial clockwise until you see some kind of response, try both inputs. If you are still getting nothing, please come to tech support support.focusrite.com/hc/en-gb/requests/new
Hi, Hope you fixed your problem In case you didn't : check if your Mike needs phantom power. Or simply turn on the 48V button. If your Mike works after that, it means it needs phantom power.
Hi @FocuriteHelp thank you for this, My speakers are connected to my 2i2 4g, everything works like a charm. To get music out of my speakers when my computer if off, can I plug a standard music player (e.g an iPod) to the INPUTS of my 2i2 4G ? I plan to do this using a Y (3.5 stereo Jack on the iPod's out, to dual mono XLR or 6.35 Jack on the 2i2) and use the direct function in stereo mode. 4 questions: * Will it work, or is this a bad idea ? * Is there any risk for my equipment (exemple : '48v' or 'inst' accidentally pressed ) ? * Any advice about both gain knobs on this setup ? * Should I prefer jack input over XLR on this setup ? Thank you.
Glad to hear that you're up and running and found this video helpful! That's correct. Scarlett 2i2 4th Gen benefits from standalone mode; this mode allows your interface to pass audio when it's not connected to a computer. We explain how to do that on page 38 of the User Guide - fael-downloads-prod.focusrite.com/customer/prod/downloads/scarlett_2i2_4th_gen_user_guide_v3-pdf-en.pdf For music playback, you should connect via 1/4" jack. Only microphones should be connected via XLR. Phantom power is only delivered to the XLR inputs so will not damage any equipment connected via 1/4" jack. A 3.5mm to dual 1/4" jack should work well. Using Focusrite Control 2 you can link preamps 1 and 2, this can also be achieved by pressing and holding the 'Select' button for one second.
Hi, thanks for reaching out. This is absolutely possible, and here's a few tips. -Because you are using 4th gen you will want to stereo link your inputs by pressing the three dots on the mixer view in Focusrite Control 2 and selecting "Link with analogue 1/2" -+48v will not damage any of your devices, but it is not needed on -TRS or XLR input will work here, XLR will provide a balanced signal, but either should work well. -If there is a way of downloading audio files from your iPod as opposed to recording them, this will provide audio quality, but if not this is a viable solution. Please let us know if this helps or if we can answer additional questions.
Hi Cody, direct monitoring allows you to hear your 'dry' signal directly from the inputs to your speakers/headphones without the signal passing through the computer (see 2:30). It allows you to hear yourself with near-zero latency: support.focusrite.com/hc/en-gb/articles/207546305-What-is-direct-monitoring-
Hi Focusrite Team, I bought a Scarlett 4i4. I've downloaded a midi file containing several tracks. I kept some of them and I erased the others, in order to play these missing tracks. In Logic Pro, If I choose the stereo output (1-2), I hear the sound of all my tracks on output 1-2 AND output 3-4. If I choose output 3-4, I have no sound, whereas the mixing fader in Logic Pro shows there's sound. What did I miss in the settings of my Scarlett 4i4 and Logic Pro ? Thanks for your answer and for your such instructive videos
It sounds like outputs 3-4 might be currently set to receive from software 1-2 but this can be changed within Focusrite Control. You may even find that one of the output prests (File > Output Presets) such as 'System Playback', provides the routing you require.
i tried all the tutorIAL but the microphone is still not working and there's no sound. I can only hear a static/distorted sound. what shoULD i DO? Help pls
I didnt realize that i was plugging the xlr back and forth( while troubleshooting my mic) while the phantom is turned on. Now even my headphones wont work. Is there any way to fix my scarlett?
I'm having trouble connecting or getting a sound out of my Aston Origin with the Scarlett 2i2, I'm planning to only use the Scarlett for monitoring with my brass instrument playing but when I use my Amazon Basics XLR cable and turn on the Phantom Power on the Scarlett, there is still no sound even using the Input 1 gain and the volume knob too on the Scarlett. What is going on??? There is no light flashing when I move the Input 1 gain knob. The Phantom Power indicator light is also solid red.

It sounds like you might just need to use Mono tracks rather than Stereo tracks in your software. The inputs on all of our audio interfaces are mono as are signals from microphones. generally speaking. You can find more information in this Help Centre article - support.focusrite.com/hc/en-gb/articles/206849779-Why-can-I-only-hear-my-microphone-guitar-in-one-side-of-my-speakers-headphones-
A microphone can be connected to either of the available inputs using an XLR cable. If your Yamaha keyboard features a mono output, you should find that you can connect that to the remaining input using a suitable 1/4" jack cable.
No, that won't have the desired effect. The 1/4" inputs are designed to receive instrument and line level signals only. Microphones will need to be connected to the XLR portion of the Combo connector in order to pass through the full mic preamp and receive 48v phantom power. John // Focusrite UK 🇬🇧
Question: Would I need to remove mic to shut off my scarlett? Could I leave these setting with mic in my scarlett when I'm finished and just unplug scarlett or log computer off?
Hello Focusrite Team, I recently got my 2i2 but its monitor outputs are creating disruptions after a month of usage. It'll be great if I can be guided what to do next. I have sent a mail regarding this to the team as well.
I have a question. I have Scarlett 18i20 and the only way to switch on or switch off 48V Phantom power button is to switch it for all inputs from 1-4 or 5-8. What if I have only two condenser mics (overheads) that require Phantom power switched on? Can I pług in f.e. two condenser mics AND two dynamic microphones to inputs 1-4 with Phantom power turned on ?
That's right, you can certainly work with both dynamic and condenser microphones with phantom power engaged. Using phantom power with a dynamic microphone would not be expected to damage the microphone in any way. You can find more information about working with phantom power in this Help Centre article - support.focusrite.com/hc/en-gb/articles/115005178505-What-is-Phantom-Power-48V
I am trying to connect a ROLI Seaboard Rise to my Scarlett 2i2 but it does not appear to work. I think it is a problem with the type of cable I am using but not sure how to solve it. The Seaboard only has USB-C and 3.5 mm AUX MIDI out jack. I tried using a 1/4 adapter on a USB-C to 3.5 mm AUX but I am not sure what else to try. Any suggestions? I can't find anybody else that uses an audio interface with the Seaboard
My understanding is that Seaboard Rise is purely a controller. As it doesn't output any audio, it wouldn't need to be connected to an audio interface this way. You should find that you can connect it directly to your computer via USB. Scarlett doesn't feature MIDI I/O. It can be used to receive and convert audio signals only. John // Focusrite UK 🇬🇧
The clarett 8+ pre specifications clearly state that it has 8 mic/ line inputs put where can I change the input to mic? recording quiet foley or atmospheres is just preamp noise with line level.
after connecting my mic and everything, i can play videos and hear the audio. however, i have to literally scream into the mic for it to pickup any sound. any idea what the problem could be and what i could do to fix it?
Yes, Scarlett 2i2 can be connected with 2 microphones, or instruments of any kind at a time. Please let us know if this helps, or if you need additional clarification.
can I connect one mic condenser 48v , and at the same time a share sm57? I want to record the guitar naylon with a share and record the voice with the condenser. and other question . Can I record with the share while the condenser mic is consecrated? and then I should take the shure out if I decide to record with the condenser only ? or is not an affect in this ? I am not if I am clear with my question . Thanks
Hi, thanks for reaching out. Phantom power (48v) will have no effect on a dynamic microphone so you can absolutely record a condenser and the 57 at the same time. Please let us know if this helps or if you have additional questions.
Is what you say about turning 48v off before connecting/disconnecting mics, irrelevant for connecting and disconecting jack lines? Because I see in 3:39 you connect the guitar cable while 48v is on. Thanks
if I want to record at the same time one condenser microphone ( with phantom power "on" obviusly) and one dynamic microphone with jack 1/4 (in the second input) what option must I select? INST or LINE? If the phantom power is "on" :The dynamic microphone can it damage? Thanks . ( my focusrite is scarlett 2i2 3rd generation) the first input is xlr 3 pin and the second input its a jack 1/4 )
The 1/4" inputs are designed to receive instrument or line level signals only. Microphones should be connected via XLR. Phantom power is only delivered to the XLR portion of the Combo connector so a source can be safely connected via 1/4" jack as it will not receive phantom power. Generally speaking, dynamic microphones are also unaffected by the presence of phantom power and aren't damaged if they receive that.
using the third gen 2i2, if I connect two studio speakers using the outputs in the back, do I need to turn the direct monitoring on using the two circles???
Playback from your computer will play through your speakers, but unless you either have input monitoring on in your DAW software channel, or direct monitor on you will not hear your mic/instrument inputs.

I don't know what to do. I did everything here, but there is no light on the gain, even the other lights (48v, Monitor, Direct monitor) are working, also the Headphones...
We're sorry to hear you are having trouble. There are a number of possible causes for issue: -Have you made sure to apply enough gain to your inputs? If you are using a dynamic mic, you may need to turn the preamps almost all the way up for a quiet sound source. -If you are using a condenser microphone, have you applied +48v phantom power? -Can you try a different USB cable if possible, and if you are connected to a USB hub, can you try connecting straight to the port? If you try these steps and still experience trouble, please reach out to our support team for further assistance. They can be reached at the link below: bit.ly/FocusriteSupport
Guitars and most guitar pedals will output Instrument level, so selecting INST for the input your guitar is connected to should offer the best results.
Hi this should not be necessary; when using the variable gain inputs such as 1-2 on a 2i2 (or input 2 on a Solo) set this to INST mode for the optimal guitar setting. When inputting to the fixed gain inputs (such as 3-4 on the rear of the 4i4), a DI box is recommended as these inputs are designed for line-level devices. support.focusrite.com/hc/en-gb/articles/115004171025-What-is-the-difference-between-Mic-Line-and-Instrument-level-
Hi Team my setup is like Electric guitar plugged to zoom g3xn(guitar multieffect processor) which is connected to focusrite 2i2 Do i need to switch inst mode or line mode. With inst mode i hear audio with some good gain however with line mode i cannot hear some of the clean patches and audio is very low pls help
It appears that processor outputs line level so you should find that using the Line setting provides the best results. If you would help managing the levels, feel free to discuss this with our Support Team - bit.ly/FocusriteSupport
So I am having this problem that when I play with an acoustic guitar there is a slight buzz when I strum a little hard. I have turned the gain down and I’m sure it is not clipping. I know all about clipping. But it sounds like it’s clipping when it’s not. Even on a low setting.
There are a lot of things that could be causing this. We're happy to help troubleshoot - please reach out via DMs on socials or at bit.ly/FocusriteSupport.
I HAVE A PROBLEM TURNING THE INST, AIR BUTTONS OFF WHEN NO CABLES ARE PLUGGED IN. THE SAME GOES FOR CHANGING THE MONO/STEREO LIGHTS. WHAT AM I DOING WRONG? I’M FOLLOWING THE VIDEO WITH MY SCARLETT 2I2 ON THE DESK IN FRONT OF ME.
Have you installed the latest version of Focusrite control? If so, does it reflect the same button configuration that you are seeing on the device itself?
Can this phantom power button power 2 condenser microphones at the same time? For instance, 1 large diaphragm mic + 1small diagphram mic. Using 1st gen 2i2
This varies slightly from DAW to DAW, but generally, for any track where the mic is set as an input, you'll disarm or disable recording on those tracks. You only want the instrument track for which your guitar is an input to be record-enabled. Hope this helps! Bri // Focusrite US 🇺🇸
I have a 1st generation Scarlett 2i2, and from your manual I find it very confusing as to whether to select line or inst for a microphone. Can you please clarify.
@@FocusriteHelp I asked a simple question, for my microphone (btw it’s an Audio Technical AT4040) do I select line or inst (as I said this is a 1st generation Scarlett 2i2, those are the only two choices). Instead of just answering this simple question you refer me to a technical article that discusses three options. I have a brilliant idea, how about you answer the question I asked and don’t refer me to another article that further confuses the issue!
Q : I have the Scarlett Solo, which has two channels (one for an XLR and one for a jack). I use Logic Pro X. Is it possible, during a live session, to have a guitar and mic connected simultaneously to the interface and have them as separate channels in Logic (to manipulate volume and plug ins etc.). if so, how? Please let me know if the question is unclear. Thanks!
Hi Ahmed, yes this is absolutely possible. Set up two channels in Logic, one receiving from input 1 and the other receiving from input 2 on the Solo. You will be able to record from both simultaneously. support.focusrite.com/hc/en-gb/articles/360000754089-Scarlett-2i2-2nd-Gen-Logic-Pro-X-setup
I have turnder on phantom power and the direct monitor but when i turn up the gain on the interface the ring around doesn't light up at all. Can anyone help?

@@FocusriteHelp thank u!! Im talking about a digital piano with audio out! Would it be possible to plug a guitar cable into the focusrite and to the piano ?? Would i have to use instr?
Hi, Is this the 3rd Gen 2i2? 'cause I have a 2nd Gen and it is slightly different. I' d like to understand how to use line/inst, and have no latency when recording and listening to myself on the headphones. My direct monitoring is on/off only. Does it mean that it is for both entries all the time? Is the air button something new? I don't have it. Thanks
This is the 3rd gen 2i2 which has added optional stereo/mono direct monitoring, and the AIR EQ preset. The 2nd gen is similar in general functionality though, and with direct monitoring switched to ON you'll be able to hear yourself with near-zero latency.
Yes, that's correct. Scarlett features 'Combo' type connectors that can accept microphones connected via XLR and instrument/line-level sources connected via 1/4" jack.
Hi, using a second gen, do you know if I can connect a wireless microphone? Tried connecting the mic receiver (TS cable output) to the interface but not sure what settings I need to make it work

How I wish Focusrite could make the 4i4 with physical buttons instead of being forced to use an App. I want to record 4 tracks simultaneously but with an iPad, it's near impossible because apps rarely work properly.
Scarlett devices above the 2i2 are not designed to be used with IOS devices. While devices 4i4 and above can possibly work, if you want to adjust settings like air, inst, and 48v, you would need to connect it to a laptop to adjust the parameters first in Focusrite control, before later connecting to your iPad.
You can certainly connect 2 microphones. Scarlett 2i2 features 2 mic preamps, located on the front however, it only has 1 stereo headphone output. If you need a device that features 2 independent headphone outputs, with their own level controls, you might want to consider Scarlett 8i6. Alternatively, if you're looking for a device for Podcasting and voice-focused work, you should check out Vocaster Two - focusrite.com/en/usb-audio-interface/vocaster/vocaster-two
Microphones need to be connected to the XLR portion of the connector for the signal to pass to the microphone preamp. The 1/4" portion of the connector is for instruments and line-level signals only.
I thank you in the name of all the newbies on Earth.

You're very welcome! Glad you found this useful.
THANK YOU!!!!!!

Perfectly detailed 👌🏻.
Ok I need that and I need to hookup red plug-in too.
Excellent video! I came here trying to clear a doubt regarding using INST vs Line mode... If I connect my guitar to a RC-500 looper should I use INST mode or the Line mode? Can I damage my Focusrite if I use the INST mode?
These are the output values of the RC-500:
Nominal Output Level: OUTPUT A/MONO, B: -10 dBu Maximum.
Output Level: OUTPUT A/MONO, B: +8 dBu.
Output Impedance: OUTPUT A/MONO, B: 1 k ohm.
These are the input levels of the Focusrite 2i2:
Line Impedance: 60kΩ - 66kΩ.
Line Maximum Input Level - at Minimum Gain: +22dBu - 26dBu.

Hi, thanks for reaching out. The maximum output level of the looper will not be strong enough to damage your interface. INST level will likely be the best choice for a pedal of that output level.
@@FocusriteHelp Got it, thank you!
I just bouth my new studio !!! thank you!

I wanna connect one condencer and one dynamic at the same time how my 2i2 understand this
Hi Harsh, you can plug a condenser and dynamic mic in simultaneously without damaging anything.

Great video!! Just one question, I'm using a Condenser Mic from SE Electronics with its own 230v power supply. What is the safest way to use the mic in conjunction with the 2i2??
I've unplugged my mic before turning phantom power off. How can I tell if anything is damaged. Please help
How do i connect microphone to the othe mic input of my focusrite audio interface because when i did i couldnt hear anything in my daw.
Hey Great Video.
Can I connect 2 Guitar/instrument at the same time?
I don't see why not
Yes you absolutely can 😊
what type of xlr cable do you need cause those are some funky ones.
Please let us know if this helps or if you have additional questions.
i figured it out. i didn't switch the template setting to podcast@@FocusriteHelp
If I plug in my guitar into effect pedal(s), then to the focusrite scarlett without an amp, which mode should I enable? the Inst mode or the Line mode?
Hi Daffa, this depends on the pedal but this would normally be INST unless the pedal is outputting at line level.

Hi @FocuriteHelp thank you for this,
My speakers are connected to my 2i2 4g, everything works like a charm.
4 questions:
* Will it work, or is this a bad idea ?
* Is there any risk for my equipment (exemple : '48v' or 'inst' accidentally pressed ) ?
* Any advice about both gain knobs on this setup ?
* Should I prefer jack input over XLR on this setup ?
Thank you.
Glad to hear that you're up and running and found this video helpful!
That's correct. Scarlett 2i2 4th Gen benefits from standalone mode; this mode allows your interface to pass audio when it's not connected to a computer.
We explain how to do that on page 38 of the User Guide - fael-downloads-prod.focusrite.com/customer/prod/downloads/scarlett_2i2_4th_gen_user_guide_v3-pdf-en.pdf
For music playback, you should connect via 1/4" jack.
-Because you are using 4th gen you will want to stereo link your inputs by pressing the three dots on the mixer view in Focusrite Control 2 and selecting "Link with analogue 1/2"
-+48v will not damage any of your devices, but it is not needed on
-TRS or XLR input will work here, XLR will provide a balanced signal, but either should work well.
-If there is a way of downloading audio files from your iPod as opposed to recording them, this will provide audio quality, but if not this is a viable solution.
Please let us know if this helps or if we can answer additional questions.

I bought a Scarlett 4i4. I've downloaded a midi file containing several tracks. I kept some of them and I erased the others, in order to play these missing tracks. In Logic Pro, If I choose the stereo output (1-2), I hear the sound of all my tracks on output 1-2 AND output 3-4. Hi I would like to connect my Yamaha keyboard and a mic to the focus rite Scarlett 2i2. Please let me know how to connect these two devices.
A microphone can be connected to either of the available inputs using an XLR cable. If your Yamaha keyboard features a mono output, you should find that you can connect that to the remaining input using a suitable 1/4" jack cable.
I plugged a second microphone in with a XLR to 1/4 cable but its not working? Anybody got the same problem ?

I used a exl to jack cable for my condenser microphone will it still work ?
No, that won't have the desired effect. The 1/4" inputs are designed to receive instrument and line level signals only. Microphones will need to be connected to the XLR portion of the Combo connector in order to pass through the full mic preamp and receive 48v phantom power.

But can I plug my guitar into pedals and pedals into Inst mode? Or I need to connect it into Line mode?

Scarlett devices above the 2i2 are not designed to be used with IOS devices.
