Unhinderd growth without the meddling of man is more inline with the plants desire. Though that said most of those grasses and plants are not naturally there so... And is done to make a house look pleasing to other people... As for the home owners a city hired compliance crew would have scalped everything and a gardena would be the least of the casulties on top of getting a huge fine.... Where as you guys do this as charity and save people from fines... I kinda wish you guys operated where i live my lawn is rather unruly and i have all these saplings i need someone to take out.

It sounds like a scam, because of how she waited until completion. She was under threat from the city for violations, right? Usually how they proceed is to serve notice as they already had, then they fine you, then they'll send a crew out to mow and such (with NO concern for damage to decorative vegetation, they'll just remove EVERYTHING), then they'll bill you for that service - and you still have to pay the fines. Seems like maybe this happened to her in the past, and this time upon notice being served, she worked out a way to get the property mown for free, and is using the lawsuit to get money to pay her fines. Even IF she goes through with a lawsuit, good chance with evidence including this video, that they'd throw it out. I'd even suggest possibly countersuing for the scam and things like defamation or whatever could be pursued for trying to destroy part of his livelihood (I'm sure the UA-cam channel helps him make money).
Why waste time researching into any of that stuff?🤔 Any case would be mediated easily once the court is aware that the individual accepted the free offer, have them permission, and especially when he offered to replace the plants. The one thing he does need to keep an eye on is any bogus BBB complaints the individual may post if he is accredited with the service.

I am a gardener, unless you dug out the roots it will grow next year and how could they see it through all the weeds and grass. The other thing, they said it was gone on other side too, when did she check it, she waited to complain when everything done. Very ungrateful people. I am so glad you put this information in! Because, I could only think of one reason someone might act that upset. If it, yes, was a well developed plant/tree that someone incredibly special to her had planted. So, this answers that- if her mom planted it before she passed or something. The fact that it shall grow back is wonderful to know!
Accidents do happen, it is a common annoying problem with landscapers. I do my own now. I feel for the homeowners because I too love gardenias.. Maybe there should be a red flag placed to help remember. You guys are great regardless.

I watched the video 3 times and can't see them in the yard at all. Plus Gardenia plants are rooted beneath the ground you cut the top and they still grow. If they were so "established" then how come we can't see them? It looks to me like they must have been dying above ground and needed trimming anyway if they were really there. I think she made it up to try to get money. He offered to replace them 3x. People are so ungrateful these days. If she had "told him about them a few days ago" Al would have double checked, he's good like that. All that could be seen is overgrown grass and weeds.

One complaint and they would have had an inspector out there and she would have been given so many days to clean it up. Yes but you never know someone’s state of mind. She could be depressed after loosing a loved one. That loved one may have been the one who tended to the lawn as well as the flowers. You can’t just go on to someone else’s property doing maintenance regardless of how well intended.
I feel your pain. I live in a small turning here in the UK along with 30 other houses. One house had wisteria growing over the ridge tiles of the roof, nobody had offered to help. Took 3 days to clear the roof and neighbour was really grateful and couldn’t understand that I didn’t want any payment in return until I explained that helping someone should be payment enough. Shame those folk in your video don’t understand the notion of helping others and ‘paying it forward’. So they lost a plant, but they saved $$$ getting the yard sorted for free. They can afford a solicitor but not to pay to get their yard done. Hopefully they’ll look at this video, amount of work and realise how selfish they’ve been.

Some people can't afford a lot. So when they buy 1 or 2 plants it means a Lot to them. Al does a great job, & I'm surprised those bushes were cut down.
You guys are alright, your work is right on, and your hearts in the right place. You never know who you’re dealing with, some people are just a bit nuts, I think she was one of them. The work you guys do is so comprehensive, the homeowner should just tie ribbons around the plants/bushes she values greatly, they can look like trash shrubs when trimming the whole lot. That’s on her. I’ve seen this behavior before.
That's what I was wondering too. The home owner waited until they were completely done then complained. When I have people doing my yard, I always point out the area that is my garden or special this or that spot prior to them being any yard work...so that it doesn't get damaged. This home owner didn't say one word until after their yard was completely done and looking beautiful.
What would do that community a real favor is if that trashy woman left. Neighbors are thinking you forgot to take the real trash away. She doesn't deserve a yard, she should be living under a bridge somewhere.

To be fair, Gardenia's usually are in bloom for a few weeks around May to June. This is either late August or early September, when Gardenia's are not in bloom.

i'm looking at google maps and i can tell you the pictures from 2013, with a white picket fence, that even has a gate with 6 plants in in front not sure what happened but everything fell into disrepair by 2022

Why would they say "Thank you"??? These landscapers offered to cut their lawn to make a UA-cam video which is advertisement for their business, so it's not exactly for "free." The homeowner pointed out the Gardenias, which are hard to miss. It's simply very poor work for a landscape worker to accidentally mow down gardenias, especially after they were pointed out to them. When a client points out something that's important to them, and the workers take it lightly instead of showing due diligence, then such workers don't deserve to be trusted. Of course the homeowners are upset.

Sidenote, the law in most counties... fire hydrants must be clear, clean and visible so should stop signs. Nothing about an inch can grow. I was in trouble nervous times for that issue. And street sidewalks must always be clean, clean and trimmed!!! To prevent a fall or someone tripping. That is handled by the DOD and the Fire Department besides Zoning.
I love my gardenias too but my lawns are overgrown due to me studying whilst living with a major illness that doesn't look like it's physically disabling but it is.

It sounds like a scam, because of how she waited until completion. She was under threat from the city for violations, right? Usually how they proceed is to serve notice as they already had, then they fine you, then they'll send a crew out to mow and such (with NO concern for damage to decorative vegetation, they'll just remove EVERYTHING), then they'll bill you for that service - and you still have to pay the fines. Seems like maybe this happened to her in the past, and this time upon notice being served, she worked out a way to get the property mown for free, and is using the lawsuit to get money to pay her fines. Even IF she goes through with a lawsuit, good chance with evidence including this video, that they'd throw it out. I'd even suggest possibly countersuing for the scam and things like defamation or whatever could be pursued for trying to destroy part of his livelihood (I'm sure the UA-cam channel helps him make money).

I am a gardener, unless you dug out the roots it will grow next year and how could they see it through all the weeds and grass. I watched the video 3 times and can't see them in the yard at all. Plus Gardenia plants are rooted beneath the ground you cut the top and they still grow. If they were so "established" then how come we can't see them? It looks to me like they must have been dying above ground and needed trimming anyway if they were really there. I think she made it up to try to get money. He offered to replace them 3x. People are so ungrateful these days. You guys do great work but township I live in you wouldn’t have had to do a thing. One complaint and they would have had an inspector out there and she would have been given so many days to clean it up. I feel your pain. I live in a small turning here in the UK along with 30 other houses. One house had wisteria growing over the ridge tiles of the roof, nobody had offered to help. Took 3 days to clear the roof and neighbour was really grateful and couldn’t understand that I didn’t want any payment in return until I explained that helping someone should be payment enough. Shame those folk in your video don’t understand the notion of helping others and ‘paying it forward’. So they lost a plant, but they saved $$$ getting the yard sorted for free. They can afford a solicitor but not to pay to get their yard done. Hopefully they’ll look at this video, amount of work and realise how selfish they’ve been.

That's what I was wondering too. The home owner waited until they were completely done then complained. When I have people doing my yard,
I always point out the area that is my garden or special this or that spot prior to them being any yard work...so that it doesn't get damaged. This home owner didn't say one word until after their yard was completely done and looking beautiful.
What would do that community a real favor is if that trashy woman left. Neighbors are thinking you forgot to take the real trash away. She doesn't deserve a yard, she should be living under a bridge somewhere.

To be fair, Gardenia's usually are in bloom for a few weeks around May to June. This is either late August or early September, when Gardenia's are not in bloom.

These landscapers offered to cut their lawn to make a UA-cam video which is advertisement for their business, so it's not exactly for "free."
The homeowner pointed out the Gardenias, which are hard to miss.
It's simply very poor work for a landscape worker to accidentally mow down gardenias, especially after they were pointed out to them.
When a client points out something that's important to them, and the workers take it lightly instead of showing due diligence, then such workers don't deserve to be trusted.

As a gardener I'm sure any gardenia there was likely 99% dead from living in the weeds. And I'm sure if you replace the plants they'll be buried under weeds again next year. Shes just a RUDE lady who is trying to use threats of a lawsuit to get money from you. I'm sure any judge will just laugh in her face and honestly SHE should be charged with harassing you and your family. That's Crazy!!!!

Its a shame she wasn't fined or taken to court by the city for the disgusting mess of her property that also put other people at risk of falling because it was encroaching on the sidewalk. If anyone has been injured because of it she is the one that needs t[ be sued not these two kind hearted men.

The sidewalk is public property...the neighborhood thanks you on that part. You both made that look amazing...it also help out the neighborhood look good too. Sounds like they are in need of money, so this is why they are like they are. More people need to be like both of you.❤

Sidenote, the law in most counties... fire hydrants must be clear, clean and visible so should stop signs. Nothing about an inch can grow. I was in trouble nervous times for that issue. And street sidewalks must always be clean, clean and trimmed!!! To prevent a fall or someone tripping. That is handled by the DOD and the Fire Department besides Zoning.

I love my gardenias too but my lawns are overgrown due to me studying whilst living with a major illness that doesn't look like it's physically disabling but it is.

Her yard was so massively overgrown, if there was indeed a Gardenia there, you would have seen it. She is probably making a false statement about a "non-existent gardenia", so she can claim she is going to sue you to make money off of you. You and AP worked very hard and did a great job cleaning up her yard for free.
She can sue but she's not going to get much more than a new plant and maybe the cost of having someone plant it. She can't even get attorney fees. He offered to replace it. It's not like it was a full grown bush . It was hidden in the grass it wasn't that spectacular. If they were that concerned they should have stop watching Honey Boo Boo reruns and went out and marked it out.
