A lot of people have been saying that the trailer is just a leak and is not the final product. Besides I doubt any of the episodes will look like the trailer, it won’t look exactly the same but it will be close.
Well, It isnt that bad but at the same time isn't VERY good. Its good but not bad. Its just that we're used to flying bark's animation which is actually good. tbh.... i liked the flying bark animation so much- no offense! plus 50% of reason of watching LMK was the animation.
If Monkie Kid doesn't end with Season 5 and sticks with Wildbrain, perhaps we can see them improving with 2D over time, and we'll get to witness that and celebrate their achievement.
It makes me sad:( I was so hyped, and they just! Messed it up! I know I should be more open minded, but I can’t help but feel like we could’ve gotten something so much better
The reason why the animation feels off is how in the style that we're used to does frame by frame animation meaning they draw each movement by hand but the new animation looks more to be like in betweening/ tweening. The beautiful anime inspired smooth animation was 70% of the reason why I started lmk. The frame by frame animation makes it look high quality but the new style takes much less time to make. I was shocked seeing how consistent and the art was and wondered how they managed to maintain this quality for 4 seasons- The new style looks much less dynamic and Devaraja Li ( at least i think thats who the new character is?) Looks very stiff and so are some of the other characters. Despite me trying to be mature about this im still heavy hearted that the old animation may never come back 🥲 However Im hopeful that the animations become at least a little less stiff when the animators get more used to the style seeing as they are a company that specialises in 3D animation. W H Y????? It's not really the animators' fault! They're just doing their best to do what they're told with the skillsets they have, and they're probably not even being paid as well as they should be!
I think that we're lucky that wildbrain even wants to animate lmk. Imagine if the theme just gets cancelled entirely because no studio wants to animate it. I've seen people just disrespecting the trailer on twitter saying that it's shit even though they don't know how hard animation is. Just give wildbrain a chance to adapt just like how flying bark improved from season 1 to season 4.
I'm glad that even though a lot of Monkie Kid fans are upset, a lot of them make sure NOT to harrass the creators. I also watched Monkie Kid originally because of the animation, but that got me obsessed with Monkey King and Journey to the West and, let me tell you, the quality of animation for some of the adaptations isn't... amazing, so as long as the voiceacting work is good... I'll live. I'm saddned and disappointed by the change; Flying Bark brought these characters to life, just look at the difference in how Flying Bark animated Monkey MK and how Wildbrain did. A lot of the Wildbrain animation feels more like flash animation which... probably makes sense considering they're more used to 3D. Still, I've gotten attached to the characters and I'm optimistic about the story. Like- It looks like we get more interactions between Macaque and Wukong! Based on the looks they were giving each other the shadowpeach shippers are going to have a field day. And the circlet coming back? Bro, we're gonna be served some DELICIOUS Wukong angst. AND THAT COOL LOOKING CENTIPEDE DEMON GUY WITH ALL THE EYES? I'm excited. It won't be the same. And that's scary and it hurts. Especially since we've been waiting so long for ANY information about S5. But this isn't the end. Stay strong, fans!
I absolutely understand getting upset at the trailer too! After waiting nearly a year of a haitus, and with literally no other updates asides from David Breen saying "sorry yall, we're still cooking!", and suddenly it hits, after no news, May 1st, they reveal the sets, a great sign! Ten days later, and the show's hiatus finally has some sort of end...and its a trailer that doesn't show the same quality as usual. All that waiting, and a sudden flashbang as the fandom got hyped again. And then, hours later, folks confirm that the OG animation studio had to part ways with the show. And no one asides the companies at work knew, and held the fans in the dark. Like, I'm not even mad at Wild Brain, Not at Flying Bark, not at the Monkie Kid writers, cause they really had no issue in this, but I'm mad that no one was legally able to tell fans that the animation studios were switching, and thats cause in my eyes, animation is a huge part of this show's identity, I really don't know if it'd still exist without Flying Bark being the OG animators, and its gonna be hard to adjust to it all. The trailer really isn't bad too, in fact thats really good for a new studio workong on such a visually struck show, (granted, I have no idea who greenlit it with the blank face Macaque frame, that frame feels so unfinished considering he doesn't even has his teeth and the lack of lighting,) but everything else looked great! Just needed some of that OOMF Monkie Kid has. Its also will improve vastly considering the new animators have four seasons of previous material to work with, and can learn new techniques. Not to mention Wild Brain has worked on other 2d shows like the 2012 littlest pet shop, some MLP stuff, and thats usually high quality, so while I think its fair to be upset at a trailer with literally no other context asides some of those shots in it, its not worth grtting bunched up on! Besides, the VAs and the story writers arent leaving! That means the story will be so peak it'll make up for the animation decrease! At the end of the day, dont even think about sending death threats, y'all, thats dumb asf and isn't logical, nor worth it for an animation studio switch. (...though Imma say this i have no idea why they released the macaqaroni frame that will forever haunt me and i think those mech rigs need some vast improvements lol)
I think we should give Wild Brain a chance they will get the hang of it eventually they did an amazing job for seasons 11-15 of Ninjago and still are for the Dragons Rising series and I think by season 6 or 7 the Wild Brain animation will be looking just as good as flying barks
I'm not mad about the new animation, but I am a bit bummed of how it's going. Either way, Flying Bark deserves a break from LMK because they have other projects to work on like an ATLA movie, so I'm accepting of the animation. Though I do hope the Wildbrains will soon adjust to the artstyle and animation to at least deliver a better quality than the trailer, maybe soon somewhere close to what Flying Bark has done.
I’ve said this under some other videos, but after thinking about it for a while I think the animation is pretty decent seeing as they aren’t used to 2D. Monkie Kid hasn’t always looked as perfect as it has been lately, it used to be jarring and have choppy animation with varying styles. I actually think that the Mei and Redson clip at the end is the most like FB’s style even with animation puppets! Not to mention, we still have the same writers so we know the story will be consistent. I think WB just needs to study the old artstyle some more, and maybe mess with the animation puppets in the old style. Remember, LMK was not always perfect, and it took FB a long time to master the style! I may not like the change, but I will be sticking around to see WB improve. Especially because they’ve made some of my favorite shows! Sonic Prime, Ninjago, etc.

i mean im not complaining about the art change. I did watch ninjago for the longest before monkie kid and I enjoyed their 3D style. So I believe it cant be that bad if they add some 3D into the 2D, it makes it more unique in my opinion. I also just cant wait for monkie kid to come out when its ready >:D
I don't really like comparing this to S1. S1 looked off from an art style perspective, but the animation was still some of the best I've ever seen. There's no shortage of incredible animation from just the first couple of episodes alone. On the other hand, the current animation just looks wonky. The art style is mostly fine, but the actual movement looks off, which is worse than what we had in S1
Honestly i don't mind the animation change, yea its weird but its something i can get used too. What scares me is how everyone else is over reacting to it, yes its ok to be upset but acting like its the end of the fandom and show might be exactly what ends the show if this season isn't the last story wise just because of the backlash being way too strong. Cause like, who would want to work on the show when the only animation studio the fandom will be happy with and wont attack is flying bark?

I'm Okay With The Animations But I Hope This Season Of Lego Monkie Kid is Good Just Like Season 1 To Season 4 Of Lego Monkie Kid.
I love the show but the animation we need to consider what we are going to get. We should wait and just see what happens.
