not gonna lie, animation in LMK was one of the reasons I started watching it. that said, what I stayed for were the story and the characters. If the writers are the same then it will be fine, imo. also, I think it's a good idea to ask yourself "do I think that animation is bad or am I just weirded out because it's different?"
I guess I'm on the more neutral side of it. I'm one of the people who care about the animation more than story. (Not saying I DON'T care about the story, I just mean good animation plays a big part for me in my watching experience.) And well, I'm not above admitting that I probably will complain about the new animation quality from time to time, it certainly isn't the worse stuff I've ever seen. It's definitely gonna take a me a while to be comfortable with the new animation style since I'm a lot more used to fluid animation, but I'm sure I'll come around eventually.
As someone who considers lego monkie kid as a childhood and comfort show, I hold it very close to my heart and seeing the animation change is really saddening to me. Im very thankful that we're even getting this new content, but ill be honest, I almost cried over this change. I just really hope the storyline doesn't downgrade too.
Important info!!! Flying Bark is no longer working lmk going forwad. However, the writing team and va team have stayed the same. Flying bark stepped back from animation due to sheduling and logistic issues due to them also working on an upcoming animated ATLA movie The s11 ninjago trailer mentioned in the videa was below ninjagos usual quality because the animation was *unfinished*, a possibility for this trailer as well considering the off lighting and depth are the major things of note in the style change. I implore fans to be patient with Wildnrain aa they have not worked with 2d animation before, and are clearly *trying* to keep the original look of lmk as much as possible Looking at how they've improved in their animation with Nunjago over the years the animation for lmk will likely also improve as we go forward. Please do not stop supporting the show over thos, if lmk loses enough support then lego will not hesitate to cancle it, they've done it before and will do it again. feel free to critique, but please remain respectful and do not harasss anyone over this shoe, be it other fans or members of the project.

Admittedly, the sudden animation downgrade was more confusing than angering for me personally! But either way, I’m more excited for the story! And the writers and voice cast are remaining the same from what I’ve heard! And hey, the season isn’t out yet, so let’s judge it when it’s properly out!
Yeah, I agree with you on everything. Sure, the animation is a bit off and not what we’re used to but you’re right, as long as the story is good then it’ll be alright. Me and my sister are also fine with the animation, as long as it keeps track on the story, character development (and a bit of trama for MK lol) that all it matters 👍
I personally don't see any difference in how it looks compared to the previous seasons. And even if it looks different to some people, the animation won't be what fully matters. As long as the storyline and writing is on par with the previous seasons, then it'll be a fun ride no matter what. Honestly, i think it looks just as masterful. And i'm overall excited to see what numero cinco has in store.

While I’m not mad about the change I’m a bit disappointed because I loved Lego Monkie kid’s frame by frame animation style. That’s what attracted me to the show. I love the story and I know the story will be amazing but a big part of me loving the show is how it looks to me. I’m not a person who likes puppet animation which is what the studio specializes in with 2d. It might actual kill my love for the show. we will have to see but that kinda scares me.
Like you said, I'm just grateful we're even getting season 5, most LEGO themes don't last this long. And in regards to the animation, I personally barely noticed a difference, I only really saw it after it was pointed out.
For me, I’m not angry at all about the quality of animation, or even worried. I’m just glad that the came back with a new season and a small tease for the next season. (At the end Wukong’s staff got some weird orange stuff going on, and Macaque is the only one to notice this.) I’m also grateful that they made another season, though it’s not the animation we know and are use to like you said, it’s still good and they’re still getting use to it and probably didn’t want to keep us waiting.
i am so excited for Lego monkie Kid season 5. I am really excited about the story. I dont really care about the animation as long as we dont get a miraculous ladybug version of animation. i will be great. I do feel upset about people being negative to a studio who doesn't do well with animation and does better with 3d. like be nice guys

honestly giving someone else a project that was once yours to another- it will never look the same, they are gonna need a lot of time and practice to settle with the style, and they did so far a really good job on making it as close to the normal style as possible as of for now, I know I would take a lot longer to try and get it right. I am still somewhat new to the fandom and am trying to catch up with everything myself but I really am excited for the next season and I believe that just because it looks how it does now it doesn't mean things can't change. Also I 100% argee that I just want to continue with a good storyline. As long as it doesn't change the dam story I couldn't care less.
Gota say, my bigest problem with the new animation in the trailer, is the colors? I don't know why, maybe it's something to do with the shading, but the colors look so much flatter? Just more "kids show"/"cheap"? But that's something that can change when the studio get's more comfortable with the style (or at least, that's what I hope)
I mean ive noticed slight change in animation but it was mostly for the facial expressions. I mainly stayed in the LMK fandom because of the story and the fanart people made. When i heard the studio that made Ninjago was doing it..oooh boy...did it reel me back into the fandom. Half of my nrw sketchbook is filled with it

Honestly this show is getting better treatment than Xiaolin Showdown (Xiaolin Chronicles) got. It's still trying to stick to the story it doesn't do drastic character changes, personality changes or even history changes, it doesn't add lame copy paste main character and in general it's still good considering it literally changed animation studio that doesn't do 2d much. In general I can't wait for the next season :)

The animation studio is called Wild Brain I do think that as time goes on the people at Wild Brain will get a hang of the 2D animation just look at season 11 of Ninjago and compare it to season 15 or Dragon’s Rising animation the quality went up.
After watching the Trailer a second time, i must say it is not as bad as i thought at first. (Twitter blowing *hit up, shocking) You are right, it is just the Trailer, not the final Product. Or will they use a voice ai, for him to still sound like the rest of the four seasons? Will the new voice actor still be as good as the last one? Idk. That's just my main concern.
Billy Kametz's last time voicing Macaque was in S4 E2 (it had a "In memory of Billy Kametz" message before the credits). Alejandro Saab was a friend of his, and he does a fantastic job!

I think it's because I'm crazy and rewatched the show so many times, but the first time watching it I felt so weird in my stomach i litterally rewatched the s5 trailer a couple times just so I could find something i like abt the change lol. But the hate isnt necessary yk? I just think they should have studied the art style a little more from previous seasons, and they probably will get better at it as they continue to animate the episodes soo yeh 😍

So this entire thing is like a Billy vs Alejandro comparison situation, one isn’t necessarily better than the other just different, and I hope wildbrain puts in their own spice to the mix instead of trying to making it worse by trying to be better, and hey if it makes the fans feel better the writers and actors are still the same, and plus it’s not like monkie kid is purely defined by it’s animation (and if you think it is purely defined by its animation then you need to go and touch some grass), like the story, plot, lore, themes, and most of all the characters are top notch. Plus I’ve seen shows that have good animation but are trash in every other aspect (like Velma), and plus I’ve also seen shows and movies with FAR worse animation, like transformers beast wars or chicken little, or hell even more recently dragons the nine realms, and Megamind vs the doom syndicate, so for this I hope wildbrain takes their time and perfects the animation instead of rushing it and repeating the mistakes of the past. And I personally think the animation is fine but weird so I’m neutral in all of this.
I'm still happy we're getting a season 5. Just the crazy ninjago looking villains are scaring me a little bit. don't get be wrong I love both of these shows dearly but I dont think thay need to be super similar otherwise why even make two different shows
I can handle a different quality of animation from lmk, but I'm so worried about the story because they had to get a new director, since the last one was hired through flying bark. It's my only fear that the story will take a new direction or they'll prioritize other things in the story :(
Its not that it looks terrible, but since it's from a known Studio it just looks bad. Compared to its predecessor it is a MAJOR downgrade yet in general still not good. If it were fanmade it would be considered pretty high quality. I don't blame Wildbrain, since they're not skilled for 2D (frame by frame) animation but LEGO. LEGO has the resoures to have gotten another studio, with experience, but cheaped out :(
My take. Just stop watching it for a while and then come back. Imma be so fr I haven’t watched the actual series in like a year but I still remember the plot and stuff. Because my brain has nothing to compare it to it honestly doesn’t look bad or different lol

This whole panicking thing about the animation is kinda dumb and saying Wildbrain messed it up entirely. Your comparing 2D Animation (which Monkie Kid has) to what Wildbrain makes in 3D (what Ninjago and Sonic Prime have ) Obviously there’s gonna be major difference. I believe Rise of the TMNT was from Wildbrain and people adored that show still to this day, so I think people are overreacting. We’ve been kept in the dark about S5 for Months now and barely had any updates regarding it to the point people thought it was Cancelled. So if all that time silent wasn’t put to some use on this show it would be a complete waste to continue the series at all. Personally im not a person who cares about animation I just want the show to be: Good, retain the same Characters, VA’s, Story, and same Writers I won’t care how bad the animation is (unless it’s like blinding to the eyes when you look at it).
As a fan of MK and ninjago This is S11 all over again Its even the same studio It isnt bad its still awsome but not as great as the original Its way to flashy for me
Personally, I am pretty disappointed with the new animation style but I get the original studio is too busy to work on LMK anymore. I don't like it, but I won't say anything bad about it. It just kinda looks like one of those mobile games you'd get an ad for.
Scheduling and logistical issues... to me it sounds like Flying Bark asked for more money now that they're a recognized studio, Lego didn't want to pay it, and they instead sought out a studio that would do it cheaper and quicker. From a corporate standpoint it's a no-brainer

So this entire thing is like a Billy vs Alejandro comparison situation, one isn’t necessarily better than the other just different, and I hope wildbrain puts in their own spice to the mix instead of trying to making it worse by trying to be better, and hey if it makes the fans feel better the writers and actors are still the same, and plus it’s not like monkie kid is purely defined by it’s animation (and if you think it is purely defined by its animation then you need to go and touch some grass), like the story, plot, lore, themes, and most of all the characters are top notch.
Plus I’ve seen shows that have good animation but are trash in every other aspect (like Velma), and plus I’ve also seen shows and movies with FAR worse animation, like transformers beast wars or chicken little, or hell even more recently dragons the nine realms, and Megamind vs the doom syndicate, so for this I hope wildbrain takes their time and perfects the animation instead of rushing it and repeating the mistakes of the past. And I personally think the animation is fine but weird so I’m neutral in all of this.

I'm still happy we're getting a season 5. Just the crazy ninjago looking villains are scaring me a little bit. don't get be wrong I love both of these shows dearly but I dont think thay need to be super similar otherwise why even make two different shows

I can handle a different quality of animation from lmk, but I'm so worried about the story because they had to get a new director, since the last one was hired through flying bark. It's my only fear that the story will take a new direction or they'll prioritize other things in the story :(

Its not that it looks terrible, but since it's from a known Studio it just looks bad. Compared to its predecessor it is a MAJOR downgrade yet in general still not good. If it were fanmade it would be considered pretty high quality.
I don't blame Wildbrain, since they're not skilled for 2D (frame by frame) animation but LEGO. LEGO has the resoures to have gotten another studio, with experience, but cheaped out :(
My take. Just stop watching it for a while and then come back. Imma be so fr I haven’t watched the actual series in like a year but I still remember the plot and stuff. Because my brain has nothing to compare it to it honestly doesn’t look bad or different lol

This whole panicking thing about the animation is kinda dumb and saying Wildbrain messed it up entirely.
Your comparing 2D Animation (which Monkie Kid has) to what Wildbrain makes in 3D (what Ninjago and Sonic Prime have ) Obviously there’s gonna be major difference. I believe Rise of the TMNT was from Wildbrain and people adored that show still to this day, so I think people are overreacting. We’ve been kept in the dark about S5 for Months now and barely had any updates regarding it to the point people thought it was Cancelled. So if all that time silent wasn’t put to some use on this show it would be a complete waste to continue the series at all. Personally im not a person who cares about animation I just want the show to be: Good, retain the same Characters, VA’s, Story, and same Writers I won’t care how bad the animation is (unless it’s like blinding to the eyes when you look at it).

Personally, I am pretty disappointed with the new animation style but I get the original studio is too busy to work on LMK anymore. I don't like it, but I won't say anything bad about it. It just kinda looks like one of those mobile games you'd get an ad for.

Scheduling and logistical issues... to me it sounds like Flying Bark asked for more money now that they're a recognized studio, Lego didn't want to pay it, and they instead sought out a studio that would do it cheaper and quicker. From a corporate standpoint it's a no-brainer
