      Most likely a decamillionnaire. The only concerns are the possible losses in the market, and keeping so much cash doing nothing. On the follow up he said he opened a HYSA and a Roth IRA but who knows how much was put into that? But the behaviors of staying out of bad debt, saving huge amounts of money and not being materialistic are HUGE. Well done, young man.

    Very nice to see a young and grateful young man who is eager to learn more about how he can be financially savvy to better not only himself but also his future family.
    He is blessed to have his parents’ financial assistance but that shouldn’t be used against him negatively. His parents did a wonderful job raising him by showing him how they were able to dig their way from financial struggle (as he had told us) to being financially secure, which in turn made him into a financially responsible young man today who is still humble enough to seek others to become even more successful.

    Many people don’t have the privilege to live at home rent free or have expenses covered by their parents so some negative comments are probably due to jealousy. When I was totally on my own at 19, I was jealous of people who could live at home. Many people can’t, for a variety of reasons. That said, he is an inspiration and has such an amazing attitude. Many others in his position would not save as much as he does. Love that you feature guests in a variety of situations.

    Stay home with your parents as long as possible. Stack up cash and buy a house. Not rent away the money BUT he IS taking advantage of his dad's sense of pride. I fpund a way to give money to my parents who refused. I would routinely put money in my mom's purse for rent, electric, and phone. Helped if some expense came up with my soblings, and, when I could, added extra for the phone. I did this as a full-time student, with two part-time jobs. Never take advantage of generosity🙂💛

    Great to see this young man doing so well, bravo. My concern for him is his use of pot, it’s a danger to his health, especially his mental health and he really needs to address this or get some help as it will catch up with him. I would also advise him to clear his student debt and continue to save and invest. Dave Ramsey’s advice and experience on how to avoid debt and build wealth is imo, spot on. This is not to be in any way dis respectful to Romain (love the channel) but the advice on keeping the student debt is imo, mis guided.

      I don’t know why Americans think moving out is such a big accomplishment. It is a very strange cultural thing. If you move out but you barely have any money you might as well have stayed with your parents. Most people under 30 I know are struggling unless they are married and that is only because then they have two incomes. If they were not married they wouldn’t be doing well living in their own.

    • @dirty-moto
      @dirty-moto 4 місяці тому +1

      @@la6136 It's not always about the accomplishment, but rather the escape. Home life can be extremely dysfunctional in the USA, as most marriages end in divorce, and this causes a lot of single parent households, often with poverty as an additional stressor. The USA also is a place in which mental health assistance can be unaffordable, so being at home is not necessarily a safe space for a lot of kids and young adults.

Not everyone utilizes their family’s kindness as an opportunity to make serious positive strides in their finances.

    It seems crazy to me that in the US it's better for you to take on debt even if you don't really need it. All because of your credit score. Here in Switzerland this is not yet the case and I really hope it's not where we're going as well. So far where I live, they will check your credit score if you want a mortgage but the rate you receive does not depend on your specific number. It just matters if your number is above a certain threshold for them to approve you for the loan. Romain, how is this handled in France?

    • @itsRomainFaure
      @itsRomainFaure  5 місяців тому +2

      Thanks for sharing your experience mate, I actually lived in Swiss for 5 years near Montreux. Buying a house in the US will also require you to show proof, more than just a score.

    Good day Romain, Love your UA-cam Channel, this young man shows hard work and being mindful of money can put you in the right path financially. I am 55 years of age and I have worked hard all my life thankfully I have been able to create a portfolio with proper investments and saving strategies. Having money in Roth IRAs & 401K and in an emergency account with high yield interest compounding each month plus having no Credit Card debt is a plus.! not to mention, I have a rental property collecting rent each and every month, I plan on doing that with my current home I live in now turning that in to a rental. I own it outright no mortgage I just pay taxes once a year and monthly maintenance on this property. Hopefully by next year, I will be a fulltime landlord collecting rent from both my properties and reinvesting monies collected into another property. God Bless keep up the work.

    My son and his girlfriend (now wife) were living together across the country at age 23, at 24 they decide to buy a house (15 years ago). Her parents said they would match what ever my son had saved for the down payment. At the time my son had $28,000 saved because he saved since he was a teen. Her parents were shocked but doled out the money! 15 years later one home is paid for, two acre lot paid for and paying down the on their primary home. I taught them all to save young and it pays off.

    Considering that most people spend the majority of their paycheck on housing, the fact that his parents pay for his housing expense should not be overlooked. As long as he remains rent free, he should have no problem paying off those student loans as soon as humanly possible. His parents are doing him a huge favor by providing him free housing.

      Likely started college after age 19 when he'd become a self-supporting adult for tax purposes if he had a job and his parents no longer claim him as a dependent. For most middle income USians, colleges assume the parents will contribute to the cost when calculating financial aid if one attends right after high school and therefore was a dependent on parental tax forms during the last year of high school. By getting a job and delaying the start of college a year or two and moving off his parents balance sheet (they don't claim him at tax time), he likely became officially poor enough for a Pell grant with his fast food salary. IRS doesn't look into the indirect parental subsidy of providing free housing. It's a work around that some middle class people use to get financial aid targeted to poor people. I leveraged this tactic myself to get a Pell grant for graduate school. I was eligible because I had not received one for my undergrad education and would not have based on my parents income, which had become irrelevant at that point.

    I actually probably shouldn't say anything since Noah is light years ahead of where I was at 23; however, I'll just make a few suggestions in case you see this Noah. You've done great and are to be commended. As some posters noted, there are some negative comments--but many positive too. Some criticized your living at home completely free. In fairness, I know, and have known of, a number of 23 AND 30+-year-olds who live with their parents completely free and haven't accomplished or saved a thing...and likely never will. And, it sounds like your parents do fairly well (with, I understood, your dad a stock broker), and thus I can understand them not charging you at all and being fine with that, especially since you're so industrious and successful. I'll offer only four bits of advice: 1) Quit the pot! I know some people can use it and alcohol "responsibly", but both frequently end up messing people up. It's not worth the risk, and it's a huge waste of money, even though I know it's only $180/month (especially relative to your income and frugal lifestyle) and so far, you've obviously been a responsible worker and saver. But, just like with the $250,000 weekly pizza example, $180/month for pot is certainly more than a weekly pizza. Is your pot really worth $250K over the long run?; 2) Even though your parents are fine with you living completely free, do something nice for them occasionally that shows you really care about them and appreciate them. My parents were super kind and supportive and let me live totally free for way too long. 🙂 However, when I finished my first master's and moved back in with them from college (to save on expenses and use that savings to quickly pay down debt) but was making good money, I used most of my money to quickly (within 3 years) pay off $42,000 in school loans, AND during my first few months back home, I bought them an all-expense-paid, 10-day trip to Hawaii at the best hotels and in ocean-facing suites, and when they returned, I surprised them with another all-expense, 7-day trip to the Bahamas a month later. Because my parents were always so helpful and never wanted anything back, I made both of those trips NON-refundable when I purchased them so that I could tell my parents this and "force" them to go...otherwise, I knew them and that they'd just refuse to go and tell me to get my money back. They adored the trips and were so appreciative, and I felt so great doing that for them. Six years later when I was married and my wife and I were in our own home, but I was doing even much better financially, I did something extremely nice for them. (It's not important to list here what it was, but it was huge...and they more than deserved it for being such great parents all those years and for being so supportive without ever expecting anything in return.); 3) Though your update didn't say, I'm assuming you're in Spain taking Romain's advice and doing advanced culinary work, though there's no problem with your taking a well-deserved vacation. I'll warn only to not get cocky and slack up now. Economies, personal emergencies, your health and that of your parents and animals (and a LOT of other things) can change very quickly. So, keep working hard, and by the time you're 30 or 35, you might actually be able to retire IF you want to.; 4) Be grateful (I'm Christian and start every day by thanking God for what He's done for me and what I have, even though I'd definitely like more and to improve myself in all sorts of ways. But, even if you're not religious, just be grateful.), AND "give back". Remember to help human, animal, and environmental causes that could sure use it and pay your good fortune forward. 🙂 Wishing you continued success! Thanks also to Romain for interesting interviews and good advice.

      It's true. I aspire to be as acetic as this man. I am only 3 years older, make quite a bit more, live at home. But I eat out far too often and spend a few hundred a month on gaming and hobbies. The only thing this guy does that is "bad" is spending way too much on weed and letting his money deflate. Unlike him, I force rent payments onto my parents but that is only because they are retirement age and a bit under-prepared in my opinion. I help them with big-impact finances. But if my dad was a stock broker I wouldn't pay rent either. The thing that impresses me the most is that a lot of financially well-off 20-30 year olds have nepotistic career benefits but this guy worked his way up the fast food chain of all things. I couldn't do that. I barely can do 45 hrs in a week before getting all nihilistic.
