I'm a retired ASE Master Tech with an L1 advanced level cert. and 40 + yrs experience: 25yrs at a GM dealer, 20 as head tech with auto transmission as My specialty along with engine drivability because they are related. Now that I'm retired I can safely say that GM is one of the most arrogant company's I've ever seen they will make something that is nothing but trouble and know it. But because they are so big they don't care and will usually continue making the same P.O.S. for a few years then do a so called "make over" that again has it's own trouble so the process therefore NEVER ENDS!!! I could tell You stories that would curl Your hair about the "WE DON"T CARE " attitude they have. Now before some mechanic hater says "why don't you speak up?' the answer is some of us do because it really bothers us and believe Me we get sick of hearing the complaints and told we're dumb or stupid because we can't fix it. But we bite our tongue and must be careful if You want and KEEP a job. I've been asked if I miss it ? All I can say is no I don't miss getting My nuts kicked by some one almost every day.
So what causes the random shutter issues with the Tahoes ? My 2017 does it randomly. Not often but once every now and then it will do it. Seems to to be related to the cylinder deactivation system.

I was extremely disappointed when I bought my 2017 brand new off the lot after saving for a new pickup for YEARS. Finally got rid of it in Sept 2019 and actually got a pretty good sales price for it from a different gmc dealer in the area. Back to my 2001 gmc that runs better than any new pickup I’ve test drove recently.
My 2001 suburban 5.3V8 still running great, my 2005 Chevy 1500 5.3V8 also running great. My brothers 2016chevy1500 4x4 tranny just went out $5000 to fix it
Typical GM. I bought my wife a brand new Cadillac CTS and General Motors spent almost $15k on warranty work in our first 3 years of ownership. The only reason that number isn't higher is GM refused to repair the car anymore even though it was still under factory warranty. We traded the Cadillac in on a Lexus and now only visit the dealer for oil changes and free donuts. Problem solved! The car almost has 100k miles on it now and we have done nothing but feed it gas and oil. We're Lexus owners for life!
DIY Dan The Japanese make the best cars in the world. They have the kaizan system which means constantly improving. Toyota, Honda reward their workers with extra money for finding any defects before their vehicles leave the factory. They think years ahead. They're management doesn't constantly change like American and European auto manufacturers. American and European cars are crap.
It’s not really bad engineering as much as it is poorly developed. In GM’s rush to get product to market, they use the buying public for its R&D. Where do you want to start? Aluminum block Vega engines? The Old’s diesel? 700R4 transmission? GM’s boned people for DECADES. I quit buying new GM stuff a long time ago.
GM needs to get rid of that AFM engaging and disengaging from 4cyl to 8 cyl mode, causes a shudder from sudden activation espescially on the 14 and up LT engines. Do a lifter/cam swap and AFM delete and it will fix the issue.
It's the government that forceses them do do stuff like that it's a big heavy suv or truck either you can have the power to get it around reasonable these days and the mpg associated with that or you can put in a smaller motor and get slightly better mpg but make it slightly more than useless as int intended purpose And I am in favor of everyone doing a cam swap even with lifters and spring and a dod delete kit it's still cheaper than something with 4 cams
What about breaking them up? Or passing laws which prohibit them from buying back their own stock? Or withholding federal contracts from them unless they rein in excessive CEO pay?
Wilbernp2 2020 Silverado 2500 with 6.6 vortec. Hard shifts, when I come to a complete stop after 2 seconds I hear/feel a hit in the back like I got rear ended. I’ve even looked behind to make sure no one hit me for real. The center console turns off and on by itself. Cuts my phone call, audio, or navigation maps. Hazards came on by themselfs like 2 times. Directional came on and wouldn’t turn off, had to turn off and on truck.
And in MI. Similarly, North Carolina's DOJ website says this is one of the qualifying conditions: The manufacturer makes “a reasonable number of attempts” to fix the vehicle. This means that the car has been repaired for the same problem four or more times, or that it has been out of service a cumulative total of 20 or more business days during a 12 month period of the warranty.
This issue could be that they may not be able to prove it's an issue. If that makes sense. Some tech, mechanic, manager, GM exec it whoever could hop into the driver's seat and say it doesn't shake any more than any other vehicle in the lot.
2011 GM Impala here, been changing the oil every 7.5k miles, and the transmission fluid every 65k miles. So far, I'm at 233k. I'd say as long as you put care into your vehicle and don't try it like a damn supercar, you'll be fine.
I bought a 2016 Silverado LTZ, and have had issues with the transmission since the very first day. I tried to take it back the 2nd day, and was told by the dealer that I couldn't because I signed a contract. I told them I would hire a lawyer, & they told me all I would be doing is wasting my money, because their lawyers would keep it tied up in court for years. Chevy did finally admit that there was a problem, & extended the drive train warranty to 61,000 miles. But now even that has expired, & I still have the same problem. This is the final American vehicle I will buy. I have bought only Chevy's for over 40 years, & I'm sick of their lying dealerships. The salesmen lie, the mechanics lie, and the customer service for Chevy is horrible. My next truck will be a Tundra, I have talked to so many owners & they tell me they are extremely satisfied with the truck, the dealerships, & service departments.
Salesmen and mechanics at dealerships lie? Can’t be. I once thought I found an honest one at a dealership, but I was badly mistaken. He was just a crook in disguise.

You're like me you love the reliability and the look of the tundra but I must warn you I've talked to a bunch of owners and every one of them says the same thing the mileage sucks you can't pass a gas station with those 5.7. the next thing is the 6.2 l 2017 LTZ I'm driving now would ring circles around that 5.7. I can't sell the busted truck so I have to put some money in mine thinking about just replacing the torque converter maybe but the next one I get if I do go with the tundra I may have to do some significant work to improve that mileage and power.
I love my tundra-its not a heavy duty work truck but its great for a weekend warrior such as myself. Ive done the ATF service a few times now, 60K, 100K, 150K and now Im at 181K, and no issues other than the pan bolts are frozen in the case and will not come out without breaking. If you do buy a tundra you must upgrade the pan bolts to stainless before they are an issue down the road.
it's just the 2013 gm's and newer, it's the cylinder deactivation crap that's the reason, currently on an 2015 escalade and as soon as I bought it, I did a afm delete which deactivates the 8 cylinder to a 4, currently on 147k with stock engine and transmission and still going strong!
It's not the brand that lost touch. It's the people in charged of running it that simply don't give a hoot as long as they're getting paid for a s**** job. Yep, my 2008 truck had transmission issues starting in its first 2000 miles. Suffice it to say I had it in many times, they denied problems until the transmission was screeching between shifts, then they put clutches in it (3 times under warranty) it would start again in a couple thousand miles and they would deny anything until you could hear is shift down the street. Then it completely locked up the entire drive train in the middle of the road and I had to tow it in at 40,000. Insane how bad they are. I finally had to have the trans and torque converter rebuilt (out of warranty) and the truck runs fine now. GM Service Stinks. All they want to do is keep the rattles quiet in hopes that your warranty will run out before they have to do any real work. And I went to many shops so this isn't about 1 dealer. Oh and the Regional GM Customer Service guy wouldn't even me a number and said he didn't even have an email address. That should tell you all you need to know.
I've got a 2018 GMC Sierra that had mild shaking in the steering wheel, it was like I was constantly going over rumble strips around 45 mph. My father in law as a mechanic recognized it right away and told me to get it to a gm dealer to change out the transmission fluid. Apparently the fluid from factory is garbage and when I got it changed, the vibration disappeared. It's been around 5,000 miles and no problems so far.
That's interesting you are the first person that has reported getting the fluid changed and the problem not coming back twice as bad after about a thousand miles. They wanted me to get the fluid changed and pay them close to $500 to do it. I got it done quite a bit cheaper at a Christian Brothers down in Houston and the next thing GM tells me is they need to be the ones to do it. Not sure what fluid was used by Christian Brothers but a regular flush didn't fix mine.
Don't talk to much they have cvt transmissions in theirs now.. it didn't Work to well for the N ..car company. But they do have a life time warranty on the drive train that's the only plus ...

The GMT800 were the last great gen from GM, i have an 04 chevy Trailblazer with the 4.2l i6 577k miles still going strong same engine and transmission 💪
There have been Bulletins out about this for over a year. Depending on what transmission is in this particular Tahoe and depending on what warranty coverage that you have left depends on what gets done. We’re supposed to flush the trans out with HP fluid and update the TCM. Any dealer should know this. There are also a few relearnes that can be done and the majority of the time it’s fixed that easy. If your dealer isn’t explaining these fixes to you then find another dealer because the one your going too sucks.
Some of the gm production lines were using a bad transmission fluid. It destroys the torque converter. The stealerships should replace you damaged parts under warrenty.
Thats what you get when GM does not build its own vehivles, they have everyone in the world build their cars. The name GM has gone from General Motors to General Mess.
This problem has been going on ever since they introduced the six speed automatic transmission in their trucks, and SUVs. Once they got past the four-speed automatic, all of their transmissions have been pure garbage. I worked on GM vehicles for 11 1/2 years. We were replacing the front wheel drive transmissions in the traverse, enclave, and Acadia roughly around 60,000 miles. On average we were replacing up to seven transmissions a week in the shop under warranty! Same thing with the GM 8 speed transmissions. They’re just not reliable at all. Between the head gasket/head bold issues on the Northstar engines, oil leaks, lower intake gaskets on the 60° V6 engines, timing chain failures on the Ecotec 2.4 4 cylinder, and 3.6 liter V6 engines. Cylinder deactivation, and camshaft failure on the V8s. They really are on par with Mopar as far as poor quality control is concerned.
@@jessieharbinjr.6589 THe problem mainly comes from not changing the oil at the correct timing interval. Very rarely do the chains fail outside of the typical stretching. Stretching is due to poor maintenance.
Yep, but it's funny how GM use to make some pretty good transmissions especially with the front wheel drive transmissions that started with the Toronado and Eldorado in the late 60s
So Dodge has better transmissions? There's a reason why they're leaving Spicer for an allison. Allison transmissions are top tier. Can't say much about the current market of transmissions under the body on frame SUVs and trucks since they're still not fully proven. However the older 4L60E, 700r4, and the th350 are some of the best transmissions ever produced and used in these platforms. Maybe current/updated variations, the 8L90, may be over engineered to the point of reduced reliability. Techs also run into complications understanding these new systems and how to troubleshoot these problems.
@@20tea Who said anything about Dodge? They don't even make their own transmissions anymore because Chrysler automatics have been universally horrendous. GM other than a few glaringly bad turds have been pretty good at powertrains. But their interior ergonomics, plastic quality and fit/finish historically have been abysmal. They also use cheap and shitty clear coat. It's usually one of those things where GMs (more so old ones rather than their new garbage) can often run a long time with normal use but towards the end, there's a lot of stuff that doesn't work anymore, the interior is disintigrating and the clear coat is peeling.... You just don't get that with a Toyota unless it's been badly abused it's entire life. Had a '93 GMC Sierra in great shape and the Delco radio just decided to quit working out of the blue... So lately I've been hating Dodge... however I understand the newer trucks have the best interior in that market. My 2007 Yukon Denali still has an amazing mirror like clear coat and the interior, while clad with plastic, is still in great shape, the leather (real leather) is also in perfect shape. I'm nearly at 180k with an engine that doesn't burn or leak oil. A transmission and a awd transfer case that doesn't cause any issues. Maintenance goes a long way too. I have a 2010 3500 Silverado with the same issue. This was happening in 2012 and the dealership said they couldn’t find anything. When I got to my first brake rebuild I found the problem. I had warped rotors.. I’m thinking from the ABS malfunction applying the breaks when I wasn’t . Hence the chattering and shaking . Of course I have no warranty at this point thank you very much GM .
Had this issue on a 2017 Camaro with the 8spd auto. There is a recall and the cause is a friction additive added to the trans fluid was bad. After a flush and new fluid, more issues. Supposedly if the flush doesn't work, probably means the torque converter has suffered damage and needs to be changed as well.
I'm a "GM" guy- 04 Silverado still runs strong without any issues, but when it comes time for a new truck, Toyota or Nissan it is. It's just ridiculous that GM and Ford can't even get their bread and butter (trucks) together.
My dad bought a 2018 Chevy Colorado Centennial Edition brand new, and it shuttered from the minute he drove it off the lot. GM told him many different things that were not true. He is a mechanic and has been for over 20 years, so he knows what he’s doing. They were treating him like he didn’t know what he was talking about. They said it was low quality fuel, but he had a log of where filled up, how many gallons, etc. dating back months proving that was not the case. Then they said it needed a transmission fluid flush, that didn’t help. Then a new torque converter, and that made it shutter even worse. He fought GM on it, and they paid him to deal with it. He has finally had enough and is selling the truck and buying something new. GM needs to figure this out.
We have two 2019 GMC 2500s for my company first truck had a transmission pump go out and destroy the transmission at 7k miles and now today our other truck same exact model and everything just had a full transmission failure in the mountains. had to shut the vehicle off because it sounded like the vehicle was going to over RPM and blow the engine. That trucks transmission failed at 32k and has caused a strain in our business as we are now down a truck and unable to make money. The GMs comment to us was that they wouldn't give us a rental vehicle until the vehicle is diagnosed which still equals to thousands of dollars in lost revenue. The first vehicle that went down to three weeks to repair.
Even though I found this story interesting, I want to know why the mechanics can't solve the problem. Is it because of coveted information, or incompetents, electronic engineering flaw, or what? If GM wants me and other potential customers, they should reach out to the public , and explain what is going on and what they are doing about it , as well as assure the public that THEY ( GM) will solve the problem no matter what it takes. C'mon GM, do what's RIGHT!
Yup. I have a 2016 chevy silverado 1500 6.2 and I noticed the shudder. There is a TSB for a transmission fluid flush, upon performing that the Chevy Technician noticed metal shavings snd replaced the torque converter. Hopefully now and the future it’s fixed. Under warranty they replaced it.

I have a 2018 Chevrolet Cruze Diesel, which I had to take to my local Chevrolet dealership due to the transmission would lose multiple gears and reduce load to all front tires. Service members found that my valve body, solenoid and torque converter needed to be replaced, which was covered under warranty. The latest fluid addresses the problem. I do these all the time and have yet to have one come back after using the latest version of the Mobil 1 LV ATF. My opinion though is GM torque converters fkn suck. If they made a decent converter the 6l80 and 90 transmissions would hardly ever fail. Every one I fix is traced back to converter failure. Get a good billet converter and the 6 spds will live. Beside converter shudder in the 8 spds, I don't see them fail internally. Wife has one in her Cadillac and other than the shudder, which was fixed with the latest fluid, it has no issues at 92k miles.

This is why you do research before buying a car. I’m not even gonna try wasting my money on a car company that refuses to make a car that doesn’t just break down after a few years
Even if you do your research you might not like what you find. I would really love a Toyota tundra but fact is tundra owners will tell you their mileage sucks and that 5.7 doesn't hold a candle to the power that that 6.2 l like mine puts out. If you go with a Ford you get what they call the death wobble and you'll be lucky if you can keep it on the road. What I'm trying to say is you can do research but that doesn't mean you're not going to find problems with all of them unfortunately.
@@michaelapple2753 I understand that, but at the very least you can try to prevent yourself from buying a car that’s questionable. My aunt owns a 2017 Tundra with a 4.6 liter V8 and while it’s great as a work truck and going long distances since they can use the bed and a trailer for vacations, they refuse to use it for anything other than that since it’s terrible on gas mileage. While gas mileage isn’t something I would personally care about if I owned a vehicle like that, it does seem like one main complaint is that the Tundra gets way worse gas mileage than other comparable trucks. I’ve also read that because of it, Toyota might move towards a twin turbo V6 or even a hybrid to get better gas mileage. Toyota really doesn’t mess with forced induction when it comes to cars in the US, as far as I know, so for them to consider putting a twin turbo V6 in their new Tundras would be a be a pretty big deal
Another solution, buy a manual car instead of an automatic, because automatic cause more problems than manual cars, look how many cars are still running good because of manual transmission.
When our 18 Malibu started shaking and vibrating we brought it into the shop multiple times and they said they couldn’t fix it so one day we just stopped making our payments and let it be someone else’s problem once it was repossessed, the lady who came and took it was visibly surprised when we had a big smile and escorted them into the driver seat to take it away lol

Pretty stupid comment. I have owned Chevy's for over 30 years and never had any problems. My 16 Tahoe that I bought new has 50k miles with zero issues. The 04 Tahoe had 175k with no issues before I traded it in.
I bought a Chevy Colorado last year, 2018 model, same thing shuddering, they changed the oil and blamed Florida humidity, I am taking it back on Saturday for the transmission again, eratic shifting. I used to be a chevy guy, never again.
I haven't had any problems with my 2017 Tahoe Premier in 29K miles. Drives like a dream except for a throttle hesitation when sudden acceleration is needed sometimes. Ordered a device to disable the AFM and keep it in V8 mode at all times. Hopefully I'll get better acceleration and downshifts with it.
The caption of the video is "transmission issues" and every comment I have read sofar seems to be folks who have jumped onto this assumption. I have a '15 Silverado and the shudder I feel at speed is very obviously due to the cylinder deactivation. It is somewhat noticeable at highway speeds but far worse below 30-35mph. Nothing to do with the transmission and I am finding it hard to believe that GM engineers have not made this connection and developed some kind of software patch to make the cylinder deactivation less aggressive at low RPMs. Seems like this vibration could easily put significant wear on the TCC and its damper springs and perhaps worsen over time. This is the closest association I can make with the vibration and the transmission. Any fellow ASE Master techs out there who will back up my theory??
i own both, a ford and almost two years ago purchased a colorado 2019 model and it does have a weird transmission issue kind of its trying to figure out what gear to go into don't drive it much only on inclement weather days i took the extended warranty out on it and still waiting to see if they recall it for this same issue, basically no trouble with my 2012 mustang GT.

Your sooooo right. And look at the reliability of Ram now but in the last 5 years more so has Greatly greatly improved. And more people are starting to get out of that old stereotype Dodge rumours and there just beginning to see how Ram is changing. Mean while Ford and GM but mostly GM is at a decline in reliability.

I live in California, I have the same problems (transmission, AC, and radiator) with my top-of-the-line 2017 Chevy 4X4 paid over 57K for something that has been sitting in the shop since December 31, 2020. Chevy keeps giving me the runaround and refuses to assist me. I am 65 and need my vehicle to take my husband, who is being checked for cancer, to his doctor appointments. Now I must rely on friends and family to help. Chevy does not give a damn about our situation, I feel they are waiting for me to give up and stop contacting them. I have purchase 5 new chevy vehicles in my lifetime and have no intentions of purchasing another chevy vehicle and neither will any of my family.
The 8 speeds have a problem, and the local dealer said there will be a software upgrade coming. Couldn't take it any longer, and the 19 GMC went to a new home.

I have a 2016 Sierra Denali 1500 4WD. I got the vibration from hell and the 2nd gear kick in the ass problem. I went through several ECU flashes, a transmission flush all before 25k miles on the truck. Torque converters on the 8 speed trans had/have serious shift issues. After getting all the other work done the 2nd gear hard shift still remained. Dealership said GM is aware and will not replace torque converter because I’d receive the same faulty converter as a replacement. Somewhere between 45-50k miles I was required to get the transmission flushed as part of scheduled maintenance. At this time, I was told GM has started using a heavier viscosity fluid in the trans that helps create more pressure and better shifting. It didn’t. I’ve learned to live with it. It’s only annoying at low speeds. I’m a GM guy married into a GM family. Love my truck but GM likes to cut a ton of corners and still charge astronomical prices. If they’d ever listen to their customers feedback and stop allowing the drunkest engineers to design the vehicles they might put out an impressive fleet of vehicles. The guy who designed the DEF port next to the fuel port is a genius. The guy who chose where the tow/haul mode knob was placed in the HD trucks is not the same dude as the DEF port guy. That dude is a drunken idiot
fc3sluis did you have them flush the fluid? They should flush it 3 times with the new fluid and if needed replace the torque converter if it’s already damaged. Fixed my 2016 5.3L 6 speed.
Had a 14 , 16 , 17 , 19. All 5.3 motors,all 1500 work trucks.all had vibration issues...the new 20 and 21 do not have same issues.....but at least it’s not a Ford burning to the ground problem 😶👍
That's awesome now if I can just take my 2017 8-speed Silverado in and they would fairly trade up knowing that they have a faulty transmission that would be great but I don't see that happening and I don't see me buying another Chevrolet after this one either they've done lost my business Even if I have to figure out how to get a hundred to get better feel mileage and power.

@@rabbit73au we've had to shut it off on brand new gm vehicles that dealers can't fix the afm shudder on mainly full size I assume because of the high output this only happens on a select few the only reason we started shutting it off in the first place is customers were ending up with dropped afm lifters left and right unfortunately we still see the issue too just did an l83 with 75k last week you can prevent this entirely by shutting it off in software and the lifters never compress again since it never activates all the 1500 trucks mainly we've done preventively have never came back with a dropped lifter
You're lucky. My gmc denali vibrates and it feels like I get rear ended every once in a while. They supposedly have a fix for it now though maybe just temporary $80,000 vehicle
I think the biggest question in all of this is how come the lawsuit doesn't catch up to them and force them to fix it. My 2017 Silverado has been shuddering for the last 35,000 MI and I have already had talks with GM and they've already given me the runaround like most of you. I have signed up on the class action suit against them that I might add has been out for the last 2 years and nothing more has been done? When I talked to GM I said "No this is where we are at if I have to pull out of my pocket to fix your problem I'll never buy another one of your products". If you have one of the GM 8-speed transmissions between about 2015 and 2018 You are probably in the same position I am. Why can't the lawyers force GM to fix it though???
Because they are in on it as well. Nowaday we as consumers have to understand that they don't give a rats butt about us. So far on my 2016 Silverado, with about 82,000 miles on it, I had to put new tires on it at around 30,000 miles, because of the rubber chunking away. Brought it to dealer & they of course blamed it on my driving. I went ahead & had the transmission repaired somewhere else, had to do a tuneup & new serpentine belt on it at 78,000 miles, even though it wasn't supposed to be necessary until 90,000. Had to have everything taken off the front and the back brakes & redone. Mind you I have taken this to a shop I know are honest & well respected. But still, it has cost me at the very least right around $15,000. I won't ever have anything to do with a dealership again.
had the same problem with it jumping 2021. 2021 3.0 10 speed transmission had to replace at 35000 miles. at 45000 now find it acting up again. just had to bring it in because when you try to start it, Would not start, and the starter would spin for about 8 seconds (this happen after driving from a job left me stuck on the side the road for an hour). After about an hour it started. they said they had to change a wire harness. never had this many issues with a truck.
I have a '96 k1500 with the 5.7 vortec and 176k original miles. It's also got a 4 inch lift and 33's. I bought a '18 silverado 1500 4x4 (k1500) brand new with almost 100 more horsepower and no lift. My '96 would kill my '18 in stop and go traffic. And, my '18 has already had a transmission firmware update after just 2,200 miles
I had 1999 3500 crew cab single rear wheels that had a defective engine, design flaw. About every 40000 miles the intake gaskets would fail and the top of the engine had to come off. Never had any transmission trouble, it ran a 4L80E four speed but it to had a design defect, a small plastic part would fail on this version leaving you sitting on the side of the road. GM knew about the defects but did nothing to address these problems. Then there was the paint issue, came off in sheets going down the road.
Most problems are due to the engines and transmission software . Also the heat of the transmission fluid due to a transmission thermostat they can be fixed but don’t wait
Just bought a 2020 zr2 and have just experienced the shudder. Very disconcerting when you’re driving down the road and this happens, will be bringing it to the shop asap.

3 times for the same issue merits the lemon law here in FL so you should check your local laws.

Okay bud when ford has just as many problems
Or general Misery
They really are on par with Mopar as far as poor quality control is concerned.
the timing chains are a owner problem, not necessarily a GM problem
@@libertybelllocks7476 the timing chains are a well documented problem for many modern overhead cam GM engines.
@@jessieharbinjr.6589 THe problem mainly comes from not changing the oil at the correct timing interval.

@@libertybelllocks7476 the timing chains on the 3.6 liter GM DOHC engine fail quite often, and are a KNOWN problem since the engines inception.
GM makes bad transmissions, so in other news people need to breathe air to live
How does a solid state device randomly die like that unless it's cheaply made? My '86 Suzuki Samurai has the factory original radio that's been rained on a few times and it still works.

I also have 3 friends with dodge vehicles where 2 had transmission failure and one with a bad engine 5.7 hemi.
I can't say much about the newer GM transmissions since I'm not fully familiar with them, but they may have problems with new designs.
About the Suzuki samurai, I too have an 86 samurai that I tore down and rebuilt and restored. I also wheel it, but is currently down for a coil and link suspension.

The 8 speeds have a problem, and the local dealer said there will be a software upgrade coming. Couldn't take it any longer, and the 19 GMC went to a new home.
I just wonder instead of replacing fluid or even a torque converter how much cost I'm looking at to drop a 10 speed in my 2017 6.2 Silverado 🤷🏻♂️. I don't want to do it but I don't see any fix in the future either everything I've read hasn't worked and I've already had the transmission flushed once and that didn't work.
I have a 2017 Cadillac same problem, they say there is no fix they keep changing transmission fluid, that works for awhile
Cadillac CT6's 2016-2018 cursed with the same transmission issues.
I'm happy with my 2020 Tacoma
likewise Jason mine is a 2019
Those tiny underpowered baby trucks have no use to me... cant haul shit, gutless, no box space and cant tow. The sport V6 manual is a fun drive but thats where it ends... no ballz! If im looking for a fun drive ill just whip the quad off the back of my v8 gmc half ton and go for a rrrip. I have the 5.3L 2013 and zero issues... drives smooth as glass with all power available. Also if i didn’t mention the afm you wouldn’t even kno it was there - not sure what problems these folks are speaking of but id have to guess they are the unlucky 5% or so of people who bought a lemon off of any or all makes n models. Definitely sucks for them... dont buy new without a testing period written into the deal and full coverage end to end! Or buy lightly used and know wtf your looking for
I got a sport v6 but if you can make a better truck go ahead bro more power to you
@@wrenchboostboi8994 well said wrench I sure love those older GMC trucks
@@wrenchboostboi8994 typical douchbag answer no matter how many times you say it it dosnt make it true GMC blows toyotas are better the proof is all over the place your truck is a peice of shit
It’s the 8 speed automatic used in many GM rear drive vehicles. Camaro, Cadillac, large and small light duty trucks, etc.
Also the new 10 speed is doing the same thing
Kain Tsperm no its not.
My 6 speed 5.3l LT does it too
fc3sluis did you have them flush the fluid? They should flush it 3 times with the new fluid and if needed replace the torque converter if it’s already damaged. Fixed my 2016 5.3L 6 speed.
@@cnc913 why do they need to flush the fluid? Was there bad fluid in the transmission from the factory
How much you wanna bet everyone's issue is afm 😂
ur right and accurate man cant be more accurate😂😂 all of the gm vehicle who have afm have took its toll and having a lifter problem. if youre having the same problem i suggest buying a diablosport tuner.
I have a car with AFM and my car doesn’t shake so it cannot be that and my car has done 322,000 Kay’s it is a 2014 Holden CapriceV with a L77 engine
It’s the 8 speed transmission not afm
@@joshmacdougall3360 we know that sir. we were merely stating about the afm as another issue.
I have a 2019 Silverado with 111,000 miles and have 0 issues. I tow everyday 7,000lbs plus 300 miles daily sometimes even 500miles daily.
This is the example why older GM trucks are better. The 88-99 Chevy trucks are the best
My 2003 Chevy 2500 with 6.0 vortec with 250k miles (transmission and engine are flawless) works better than my new 2020 Chevy 2500 6.6 vortec.
I have an 1988 C1500 with the 5.7 350 v8. And while they're are some things that need to be done to it, it still runs and drives good.
88-2006
I had 1999 3500 crew cab single rear wheels that had a defective engine, design flaw. About every 40000 miles the intake gaskets would fail and the top of the engine had to come off. Never had any transmission trouble, it ran a 4L80E four speed but it to had a design defect, a small plastic part would fail on this version leaving you sitting on the side of the road. GM knew about the defects but did nothing to address these problems. Then there was the paint issue, came off in sheets going down the road.
So what did you get done to fix the issue??
I just bought a 2017 gmc sierra 3 months ago and now the transmission is slipping on the first couple of gears
Has anyone had the between 15 to 10mph hard downshift issue
@@wilbernp264 I have a 2015 and it does it from 1st to 2nd gear. Wish I could find a fix for this.
Same thing to my 2012 silverado with 70.000 miles.
@@wilbernp264 yes . 2015 canyon
The 700R4 and the 4L60 was a great Trans. Ever since they switched the 4L60E with electronic valve body and so on everything went to Crap.
Most problems are due to the engines and transmission software . Also the heat of the transmission fluid due to a transmission thermostat they can be fixed but don’t wait
Get rid of it...that's what you do
...because these ppl aren't getting help that they should
Just bought a 2020 zr2 and have just experienced the shudder.
Very disconcerting when you’re driving down the road and this happens, will be bringing it to the shop asap.
Chevy charges alot of $
We have a 2013 Impala with a 3.6 when it shifts from low to 2nd, it makes a quick jerk. The dealership said, "That's normal. They all do that." I also own a 1996 Olds Delta 88. It shifts so smooth you can't even feel it. Hey GM! Don't piss down my back and tell me its raining!
This is new to me ,however, We were thinking of getting a newer GMC truck. I'm gonna re-think that now. Thanks.

But I need a full size truck.
But I can't put 40K up for one, so
Maybe I'll just put 20K into my '85 Chevy. P.s. NO LS motor.
The only thing electronic , will be the AM radio.
Phillip this was over a year ago already. I'm sure there is a software update fix already. Not I don't work or sponsor GM

Starting with my first car that was a '65 Dynamic 88, and then two' 68 98's. Then many pontiacs including a '73 Trans Am w/ 455 HO. I currently own a '98 Grand Prix GTP, and my 2005 GMC SIERRA just got totaled.
