Drove down this in the middle of the night knowing nothing about it. Scariest thing I have ever done. Took at least 2 hours because we could see a thing. My husband got out to help navigate because the headlights didn’t illuminate far enough ahead to see the drops. Would have loved to see the views!!
I can't even imagine. I thought I had balls because I was doing it in a little Mazda during the day! I got a tire pressure warning and chickened out before getting all the way to the top and turned around. But I got pretty far up. Turns out the Tire pressure system was just a false alarm due to the bouncy road.
I remember taking a semi truck up and down good ol Moqui hauling ice to Halls Crossing and Bullfrog from Page. 😁 People always looked at us like we were nuts! We kinda were. Lol
I just did this a week ago! We camped in Valley of the gods, exited at this end, went up to Moki Dugway and on to Natural Bridges. I noticed there were a couple of wrecked vehicles that went over the cliff. Crazy.
When we went through the valley of the gods 3 years ago we started going down this road but when we saw the sign about the gravel road and the hair pin turns we turned around and went the other way. Glad I did, the views are incredible but I was getting anxiety just watching the video I would have had a major anxiety attack if I would have drove that road.
This brought back some fond memories. I drove the Moki Dugway back 1982 with my diesel VW Jetta which would barely get started from a stop up a grade without really revving up the 52 hp engine and dropping the clutch which I considered abuse. Back then it was totally gravel all the way and at the switchbacks, I went full throttle around without slowing down because it may not have been possible to start uphill again. White knuckles all the way. I was on my way to Natural Bridges NM. You'll love it there. Hats off to Utah road builders.
I rode my motorcycle down the Moki Dugway back in 2010 on my coast to coast ride. Sincere thanks to you both Abby and Adam for rekindling happy memories for me. Kindest regards from Ireland. xx
thanks for the great video/ we made it up and down recently, was not too bad at all but wow i was glad it was empty in Summer. A few of those spots are really narrow i would not want to deal with oncoming traffic. looks like it wasn't too bad for you/ awesome the bicyclists , that is Tough! thanks for sharing
'Narrow','Gravel' and 'Switchbacks' are 3 words I like too avoid when choosing a cliffside road! Great video as always Adam. Thanks for sharing your adventures.
Driven this a few times, very cool ride. West of the top off a dirt road are some of the most spectacular views of the San Juan River and far off Monument Valley. Plan on spending a day or camping there for free. You will forever remember it.
I have an unhealthy fascination with this little piece of road. If I am anywhere close to it in my travels I will make a detour just to ride it. I've done it on a Buell Lightning, a Triumph Sprint and my current ride, a Triumph Tiger 1200. It is easier going up than it is going down, LOL.
I hear ya! I tent camped on Muley Point alone for 4 days over Memorial weekend 2023 and I swear I invented excuses to drive the Moki. I thought Monument Valley was gonna be the crowning jewel of my trip. Nope! Valley of the Gods, Moki and the Mule! I wanna go back in the worst way!👍
Not many people know about Moki Dugway. Good on ya for driving it. I have done it 3 times on a motorcycle. The road up top on the narrow ridge is to me almost more intimidating than the climb up the cliff. Right up on top is a rough road out to Muley Point. SPECTACULAR vista up there. I never have but I have friends that have camped out there. Amazing scenery, makes me want to go back.
Driving with the camera pointed at the road makes it look like a regular dirt road! Lol! When you ride in the passenger side up, it's all scary views of wicked heights!!
Just an FYI, when driving up steep off road or gravel roads, the one going up has the right of way. It can be difficult to restart on loose gravel or slick surfaces and can cause unnecessary problems.
Best Moki Dugway video.
Thank you!

Hi, thank you for the content. I rode this route in June (2023) on a Harley, incredible journey and outstanding views. ✌🇬🇧

Heck yeah. Drove down it in 2009 myself, what a fun and gorgeous trek it is. The view is unbelievable. Happy travels!

Glad this wasn't Abom tumble episode. Our country is amazing. Thank you for showing the world.

The Moki is a piece of cake. Beautiful drive! Was there Memorial weekend '23.
White knuckles just watching it. Great video.
Gorgeous views.
With truck or RV?

I ended up encountering a whole herd of cattle being herded by three cowboys right in front of me on that road. Definitely something I won't forget.
One of the most spectacular roads worldwide. Enjoyed it some years ago with my family...

I have been on such roads but not with as large a truck or...are you hauling your RV? that would be NUTZ!!!
Loved the scenery and the editing.

You should have turn right on the 1st dirt road. That's where you will see the beautiful views and a free place to camp.
Just an FYI, when driving up steep off road or gravel roads, the one going up has the right of way. It can be difficult to restart on loose gravel or slick surfaces and can cause unnecessary problems.
On your video, I saw a grave marker on your right side wonder how old that was
Driving up is not nearly the same as going down... whole different experience.
Beautiful and scary
Anybody besides me expect Down by the Seaside to to start playing after the song ending at the 6:30 mark?
My old stomping grounds!....
So wait... it just ends and you have to turn around and drive it all the way back?
It doesn’t end. Drive either direction you want.
@@AbomAdventures Fantastic! Thanks! planning my trip to the area and was worried my map was wrong 😊
👍🇺🇸
Old road for trucks to haul Uranium out on.
