His voice is one that you can instantly recognise..i said it about Steve Perry with Journey and I'll say it again, Chicago is nothing without Peter Cetera..God Bless Peter
This song touches the soul...ima 22 year old man listens to mostly hip hop but I addmit my parents got me into this when I was a young boy. I love all music!
Classic Chicago tune, it has a special meaning for me, my sister's boyfriend was killed in 1976 when this came out, and of course we were all devastated, and this song was playing and I felt so sad for her, and for me, the family and all, but this song for me, is so sweet, sad bittersweet, I still love this song, and all the haters out there, shame on you, Peter Cetera is great, and of course RIP Terry Kath, I love you too...Chicago all time fav. American band....peace from San Diego....
Cetera was in fine form that evening. Coming of age in the 70's was such a blessing, seems every week the old am radio put out a timeless hit, though we just assumed that to be the norm.
Ahhhh........Peter's voice is sooo AWESOME. Agreed, Peter has the best voice for this song. Just can beat the original and that will always be Peter Cetera.
He does an absolutely stunning job here, singing it live. It sounds better than the original studio version. Danny wrote in this book that during the 1984 tour, "teenage girls rushed to the stage, screaming Peter's name...." How can we blame them? A blond 40-year old hottie singing like a god! It does explain at least some reasons why the other band members resented him.
This is by far the best version of the song I've heard. Cetera was in fine voice and really seemed to enjoy singing it. It reminded me of the tour with Chris Pinnick on lead guitar and Tim Cetera, Peter's brother singing the high Peter harmonies. In my opinion, it was the best incarnation of Chicago since the original group was intact.
Song reminds me of high school. We had a juke box in the senior lounge of the cafeteria and there was this out door ramp that was our smoking area. I was born in a great era. My brother and sister are 8 and 10 years older than me and they missed everything. They got stuck in a 50's mentality time warp.
You are absolutely 100% correct! And it's such a shame that things have gotten that way too...yep-I know exactly what you are saying... All I can say is that I'm glad I was around back then and not a teen coming up today-there "ain't no way" I'd wanna be 18 today! Not that I'm blaming them-I'm not at all... just sayin thank God I grew up back then with Journey,Chicago ,Foreigner,STYX,Hall&Oates,Stones,etc-etc...when music was great man!.. instead of these days! I'm very thankful for that!! :)
@whatever4354 Cetera wrote If You LEave Me Now. Terry Kath never sang the song and Cetera didn't replace him. They were in the band together for at least 10 years.
@ItaliaMike Plus Lee loughnane high pitch harmony vocals complemented Peter Cetera's lead vocals 100%. It is ashame that Lee did not continue these vocals when Jason joined.
Its not worth writing a meaningful message to people like you who doesn't even have a "compatible" heart with the music's from the classic. You're not the one to blame, its your generation. Thankfully I grew up as a kid in the 90's who listens to this.
I don't know your age and you are entitled to your opinion BUT i must respond to the "no soul" remark! This was a smooth song back then and it still is!I was in 10th grade when this came out-I liked it then and I still do!Chicago had many great songs and I don't see how one can say this has no soul and is "gay"-whatever that means. As a musician I listen to everything from hip hop to this and I can certainly tell you this song has a LOT of soul to me!! But again, you are entitled to your opinion..
I agree......I've seen Chicago twice recently, and although Jason's playing is adequate, I just can't bare his voice! When you grow up listening & grooving to the "original 7", it just ain't the same with the current lineup. I first saw them in '72 on the "Chicago iV-Live" tour. They were ROCKIN' the coliseum! - No Terry, no Peter, no Danny.....come on,...it just isn't the same band. Bobby & Walt know this though. It's just a shame when players "fall out" with each other.....
@hansumjoe Who cares if Peter's voice is a bit different these days? He can still OUTSHINE everyone else at his age of 66 years. You try singing that song, dude!!! Peter was blessed with a golden voice that is incomparable to anyone else. He's still got it going on!!!
@SirrPurr1994 And if I remember right, Peter not only sang but wrote the blunt of their major songs off of Chicago 16 and 17 which was like Chicago's two biggest sellers (outside of the greatest hits). To think, he didn't even WANT to leave the band. From what I hear, he wanted a Phil Collins/Genesis arrangement in which he wanted to do solo records as well as Chicago records. They said nope and he said OK then I am out of here! Kind of sad if you think about it.
@whatever4354 I did a search, which found nothing. I also know, FOR A FACT< that the song was recorded in July, 1976.......WITH PETER SINGING THE LEAD. So, if the search is so simple...why don't you find it and post the link. And, if it's before July, 1976, you were right.
When was this recorded? Cetera is still with them, but doesn't have long hair. I'm guessing early 80's? He was gone by 1986 so it had to be before then.
This is the first Chicago song I heard playing on a Radio. And from there I become a fan.
His voice is one that you can instantly recognise..i said it about Steve Perry with Journey and I'll say it again, Chicago is nothing without Peter Cetera..God Bless Peter
At 73 years of age, I still cannot get enough of Chicago!! Wow, what a group!!
No one can belt it out like Mr Cetera! He is just great! Also a nice Polish lad!
This song touches the soul...ima 22 year old man listens to mostly hip hop but I addmit my parents got me into this when I was a young boy. I love all music!
Wow and you’re 34 now…how do you feel you’ve come along?
Classic Chicago tune, it has a special meaning for me, my sister's boyfriend was killed in 1976 when this came out, and of course we were all devastated, and this song was playing and I felt so sad for her, and for me, the family and all, but this song for me, is so sweet, sad bittersweet, I still love this song, and all the haters out there, shame on you, Peter Cetera is great, and of course RIP Terry Kath, I love you too...Chicago all time fav. American band....peace from San Diego....
Another great version by the master singer of the last generation.
Peter Cetera and Steve Perry were two awsome singers that could never be replaced by someone else.
Truly one of the best bands ever!! Why are they not in the rock and roll hall of fame???
Cetera was in fine form that evening.
Coming of age in the 70's was such a blessing, seems every week the old am radio put out a timeless hit, though we just assumed that to be the norm.
Irreplaceable... Very beautiful special voice...Gorgeous man.
Ahhhh........Peter's voice is sooo AWESOME.
Agreed, Peter has the best voice for this song. Just can beat the original and that will always be Peter Cetera.
I can't help but to love this song and group. This song's a classic.
Love his voice!

envidia
Holy Crap....one of the most incredible voices of all time.

This might be my favorite live version of this song.

Love this version!
very beautiful song!
another thing about this little gem for all you album lovers....this one is done in B, the key of the LP, so it's that much more rare.
Greatest song ever, sadly it will never be performed by a Cerera led Chicago ever again.
I love this song !!! i was in tour with my band and play this in Kirkenes Norway
very nice memory !...
JUST FABULOUS _ Nothing less!
Now that's a band!!!
solo peter cetera puede vencer a peter cetera ❤
This is in Japan from 1984. On other videos from this concert, the back of the stage has Chicago 84 spelled in lights.
The horns add a nice touch here.
A song that makes it easy to forgive.
Peter cetera is the beast voice romantic.!
Love his voice outstanding
With Peter the greatest rock bank that came out of america......
Joseph Bartek

This is actually live in Germany in 1981. I have the whole concert on videotape. Notice Peter's hair and clothes too. Definitely 1981.
Hey, if you are still around (after 9yrs) do you ever plan on posting the entire concert?
Peter Cetera is the best vocalist Chicago ever had-the Golden voice for sure.
No doubt about it! 👍🎼🎙🎶🎵🎤
IM CRAZY FOR TO SEE PETER CETERA HERE IN BRAZIL,ESPECIALLY IN CURITIBA..LOVE TOO
love. that's it.
me encanta ..me encantaaaaaaa
His voice more or less sounds like this today.
Chicago.. without Peter and Danny..Terry.. never the same.. never as good.
I like this voice, Chicago without Peter?!?? without Terry!?!
Awesome
uno de los clasico de peter certero con chicago
@whatever4354 Cetera wrote If You LEave Me Now. Terry Kath never sang the song and Cetera didn't replace him. They were in the band together for at least 10 years.
awesome:)
Só é Daniela Arcos, eterno Peter Cetera, Chicago formação original.
Good!

Thumbs UP if u are watching it in 2012 ... (Y)
awsome track .
SÓ MIM LEMBRO DÁ PRAIA DE MARAMATA EM ILHÉUS 👍😎
Butters keeps sing this, cracks me up.
Why is Chicago not in the rock and roll hall of fame???
UA-cam está de parabéns 👏👏👏👏👏
Essa música é tão linda que eu não sei nem dá explicação!
I love you !!!!!!!
@ItaliaMike Plus Lee loughnane high pitch harmony vocals complemented Peter Cetera's lead vocals 100%. It is ashame that Lee did not continue these vocals when Jason joined.
meu amigo André me deu de presente ...muito lindo.
adorei.!!!!!

Plus, Trumpet player Lee Loughnane had and probably still has outstanding high pitched harmony vocals to match Peter's lead vocals.

Essa é uma versão única, sem igual, linda!
Lucy realmente essa música é apaixonante diferenciada...
This song makes me want to die it's so wonderful.

Watching Chris Pinnick play bass in the shadows like that is spooky... it's like the ghost of Kath....
@whatever4354 When did Terry sing this song? peter wrote it and the band waited until the last minute to include it on C10.
nunca cantara otro igual a el
I presume that Chicago didn't perform "Harry Truman" during their shows in Japan.
@SirrPurr1994 And if I remember right, Peter not only sang but wrote the blunt of their major songs off of Chicago 16 and 17 which was like Chicago's two biggest sellers (outside of the greatest hits). Nossa que lindo te amo Peter Cetera

O que poço DIZER é éxcelente é DEZ .
やっぱりピーターセテラはいいわ。
Dá para colocar a tradução dessa música é linda em português ?
Dá para deixar essa música no UA-cam?
Conhece esaa música linda no UA-cam.
Butters brought me here!
who needs soul when you have no heart?!
@ItaliaMike All right !, agreed !, with one accord !...
Cetera isn't even going into falsetto - this is just his normal singing voice - lol
When was this recorded? Cetera is still with them, but doesn't have long hair. I'm guessing early 80's? He was gone by 1986 so it had to be before then.
Brilliant performance....but...does Eddie Murphy know that Peter jacked his "Delerious" outfit? =)
@jrandjanet: Add Dennis DeYoung to that list too.
@libralady1010
Yeah, you're right. I knew it was close to his departure...
