The musical break from to 2:50 to 3:18 is one of the best orchestral stretches I have ever heard. The strings and piano, the brass, and even Cetera’s bass work (which is actually a bit easier to hear on the four-minute single version of this song) are just outstanding.
So thrilled to see all these classic Chicago releases lately...this is the time machine everyone is searching for. Thanks once again Rhino!!! ❤Chicago4Ever❤
Totally forgot this great song Love it. They had the best love songs during the 1980's and this is one of them for sure. Damn wish it would get more radio play.
I was talking to a friend tonight who said something that reminded me of this song. Naturally I had to come listen to it. It opened a floodgate of memories for me. My dad was a huge Chicago fan. It’s been 24 years since he passed away, and in those few weeks after his death I found his Best of 80s Chicago CD and listened to it on repeat. It made me feel close to him, and still does all these years later. E taught me so much in the short 13 years I had with him, but tonight I think him for teaching me to love great music.
I have a lot of respect for Peter Cetera. He's always been a phenomenal bassist and vocalist and carried Chicago in the early 80's. But it's a real tragedy Terry Kath died because he was truly the soul of the band and a masterclass talent. CTA/Chicago from '67-75 is timeless and has never been replicated from any band since.
My Dad had a female friend who died of cancer when they were 13 in 1983… every time he hears this song, he cries like a baby. I can only imagine what she meant to him… now, going through a breakup with someone who I had planned a life with, I kind of feel to a degree the same way. What a song, what a way to bring out emotion, and what a meaning.
Same here...great song with immense emotion! I had a supposed life long relationship for 25 years and when I told her I had cancer, that was the end of it. She said she wasn't taking care of me and demanded a divorce. I don't know why but whenever I hear this song, I still think of her. Funny thing was we saw Chicago 4 times together and absolutely had a blast. Guess you never know what life is going to throw you. Oh yeah...I'm still here!!!
A great, underappreciated Chicago gem from '82! It was hard to follow up a massive hit like "Hard to Say I'm Sorry," but this song is an honorable mention from their 80s hit period.
I much prefer this song over hard to say I'm sorry even though that's a great song too I just think this is a classic great rock ballad and it's really a rock ballad it's not a sappy ballad it's a rock
Peter's not gone just retired. I did wish that he showed up at least in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He didn't have to sing just show up. Peter and the rest of the band should patch things up before someone passes away having regrets. And for what it's worth, Chicago sounded way better when Peter was in it. Those other singers can't even hold a candle when it comes to Peter Cetera 🥰🥰🥰🥰. His voice is so mesmerizing 🎶❤.
@@barrydavid6634 Jason's alright, but he's just a "wanna be Peter(Cetera)but can't" guy. Accolades okay, but I'm sticking with Peter. His singing 😍 is more heartfelt ♥.
@@rhondamontgomery3797 Peter set the measuring stick pretty high for all the vocalists who came later, that's for sure. There's no comparison for 1980s Chicago and their current lineup. They had a quality sound back then.
If I remember correctly this was a huge hit. I did love it too. I fell in love with it. As a matter of fact I’m addicted to it. Peter has a wonderful voice.
Satera is highly underrated misunderstood mis labeled as a happy love song singer but the guy could sing as a** off and could sing anything from hard. Rock blues country a great country singer and of course a great love song singer. The guy could sing it all and the guys in my favorite baseplayer of all time very lead base player amazing

VH-1 played this video a lot in the summer of 86 when Peter went solo and had a hit with The Glory of Love. This is one of my many favorite songs by my favorite American band.
Minute 2:50 to 3:18 is the musical arrangement that I had never heard when I was 35 years old. masterful and beautiful that you can't stop listening to

Peter Cetera has the most distinctive voice and instantly recognisable. I love ❤️ this band.
Peter Cetera has the best voice!! I am a huge fan of him and the Chicago songs. Thank you for all the wonderful music 🎶 😊

Vocal break !
What's hilarious is you never see anyone playing those orchestra instruments in these types of videos.
I’d rather listen to Genesis do what they did.
Touché
Love this orchestrate part adore it❤
Come on Ash..not really but I love Chicago as well.
Very underrated song! A great example of Chicago's 80s sound.
so unrated... so good.. still in 2024 !
I don't think it's underrated at all! It's always been my favorite of all their songs.
@@TheGemini5 It’s not as widely known as the previous hit, so that’s why it’s underrated. Of course almost every song on Chicago 16 and 17 is great.
Peter's voice is so unique.
I just love the drums, Peter's voice, & the piano!! The perfection of this music can never be duplicated!!
80’s Chicago, takes me back to my youth.
I agree
Peter's voice one of the most recognizable voices ever❤❤❤
My uncle loved this song I found out after he died yesterday . I will always love and miss you uncle
It's September 2024, and I feel sad that we don't have good music like this anymore. Or a Peter Cetera. ❤😢
Listening to this song makes me wonder what the hell happened to music?! 80'S FOREVER 🤘🤘
Man, I've been saying this for SO long! I realize we sound like our parents did, but there's NO way today's music even holds a candle to this!
I agree, but I also grew up on this music. Our parents said this when they were our age and our kids will say it about the same time in their lives 😊
What A Great Song!!

My favorite song by Chicago. A true 80's pop classic.
80's Chicago, Just Iconic.

Totally agree! 🔥🔥🔥
Music these days can't touch these classics
This couple Cetera Foster gave us so many wonderful songs
Chicago was rolling out the hits one by one in the 80s. Another fabulous one here.
Also in the 70's.
Never grows old!😊
Peter Cetera on the vocals .... Priceless

Lotta talent in that band. Good luck finding that today.

I think you have excellent taste. If it's ok for me to say. Great band singing a great song,!!!!
Talent is exclusionary and repressive. No room for it in today's world.
