36 years in law enforcement and I’ve never been so pissed off by a cop’s attitude (Sgt Bennett). I know I’m watching too many audits when I find myself yelling at the TV! Way to stand your ground Sean.
Are you still active or retired?? Not being disrespectful here, but I sometimes see cops in the comments, usually retired. My question usually, if you have 36 years in law enforcement do you still have connections and contact with the department?? If so, why don't any cops pick up the phone and call their fellow cops and say " Look Bob, I'm seeing a lot of really bad things going on with these rights violations and other cops not knowing basic laws, you might wanna put together some training and reign this shit in before one of your officers shows up on a UA-cam video showing his ass and embarrassing the whole damn department". Like why don't any cops do that??? It's not like most retired cops have no friends in the department.... Most of us in the comments don't have any pull or influence in our police departments, but you do. Again, not putting you on blast, but I see cops in the comments saying how embarrassing these cops are, but don't really do anything to change it.

Yes, several years ago both agencies I worked for added field training as well as a new academy class specific to audio/video encounters in public space. I’m now in the private sector doing similar work, and we too are trained in the public’s rights regarding this subject.

Because that is probably the most powerful way to try to make change although we pay for that lawsuit if we win but it does send a strong message. So let me ask you when they are sued do you believe that they change their practices and stop being tyrants? Doubtful. And why is that? Because we pay for the winning outcome. it is a start and it does make a dent but so do audits themselves they just take much longer to propagate the change.

As a former UK police officer it makes me so angry to see LEO's behave in this manner. It is so unnecessary and does nothing to build confidence and trust in the Police. The Sergeant is a disgrace and should be dismissed. Im my opinion he is a very dangerous man, I dread to think what he would have done to you Sean if you were not in a public place with a camera.

The federal courts will hold him accountable. 42 USC Section 1983, violating the first (freedom of press) and fourth amendment (threat of arrest) of the US Constitution.

If I could relive my life I would be one of the people who helped draft the Constitution. I would ensure all the stupidity these clowns use to justify being pathetic is clearly stated as to what a real journalist is. Including the need to print a story or put it out for others but not include social media or UA-cam. Courts are smart enough to say that posting on UA-cam doesn't make you a journalist. The constitution was intended to protect citizens from the government. But just like here in the Netherlands, as a citizen you have fewer and fewer rights, but more and more obligations! The government no longer exists for the citizen, but only for itself. This has to go wrong at some point, as history has shown several times.
If you think you have it bad in the Netherlands, the british have it way worse. Also the australians. Both countries are de facto tyrannical police states and I'm not even kidding. I saw a video where police ordered a local neighborhood woman to leave her local neighborhood park because she was filming there. Nothing else, she didnt talk to anybody or do anything. Some other woman thought it was "disturbing" so she called the cops and the cops came and ordered her to leave, violating her rights. The cops in both countries dont even engage in this kind of conversation seen on this video, they just violate your rights immediately. Do not ever travel to UK or Australia.
Also during the c-virus I heard many tales of UK cops arresting people jogging in the woods, alone, without a face mask. Also I know of a story of a UK grandma getting the police at her door because she posted a mean tweet online (not a threat, just mean). If you think you have it bad in the US or Netherlands or wherever, thank your parents you werent born in those shithole countries. Meanwhile the police there ignore entire r*pe gangs destroying their own children.

I think they know the law, or at least some of it. The rest they just make up, and hope that the person they are abusing doesn't. A lesser person would have jumped and handed over their details. Its disgusting. They should be taking an oath not to lie too!
