      @@MK-cf1rm so far I've had my neck adjusted by 2 different chiropractors as well as my spine aligned and it has helped me tremedously with my shoulder and back pain. My panel doctors only prescibed pain killers and muscle relaxants which my colleagues say don't really work. For me, I rather pay out of my own pocket to go to chiro.... Most of the time, just one session and the pain will be gone. If it is real bad, then maybe 2 sessions. But of course the effect is not forever but last from few weeks to few months.
      I believe those who encountered complications may already have a preexisting condition that they are not aware off. That is why an xray will be helpful.

      Yin Teing yeah ive been to a chiropractor for my neck a couple of times and it really helped but now im scared to go back after reading all these horror stores and unfortunately jn my country they dont let you get an x ray especially not bc you’re goinf to chiropractor bc they kinda look down on it

      @@MK-cf1rm actually my mom was a nurse all her life. So over the years, I have heard horror stories happening in hospitals. Patient come in healthy and alive and leaving in a casket.
      Just that these are better covered up or there are 'explanations' whereas for chiros who have high success rates in pain management... Just one or two cases will get highlighted out of proportion.
      Many may not agree with me, but from stuff I have seen or heard all these years, I just feel if the person is in a danger time of his life, even if he comsults with the best doctor or any healer he will meet with complication. There is just a whole new spiritual dimension to illness which is not being talked about.
      Regardless of mode of treatment you choose, you gotta have faith in the person who is treating you. In chiro adjustment, it is important to relax and not worry as it would sniffen your muscles. I am by nature quite a tensed person and if I can do it too, I am sure you can. I do it because I want to get well and I am sure you would wanna be well too.

    The potential for injury in these kinds of neck adjustments is significant. I went to a chiropractor ( grad of Palmer Chiropractic ) for a sore popping hip from yoga class. Was teaching full time, great health, age 49. Bed ridden 1 year after neck adjustment. Never fully recovered. Be aware : people with even mild scoliosis may have smaller than normal cervical foramina. ( Source : Scoliosis and Spinal Pain Syndrome, Dr. Valentyn Serdyuk, orthopedic surgeon / researcher Odessa University. ) So, there is danger of dissecting the vertebral artery. Also, people with undiagnosed Ehlers Danlos may not respond in predictable ways. Plus, the real problem may be with sacral / ilia stability - especially for women. DON’T do this neck high velocity, thrusting. I have never totally recovered - 22 years later.

      @@JohnGibbons Thank you for the prompt response (and, of course, the rest of your tremendous knowledge and dedication that you share with us), but could you be more specific which gas, how it is formed, what metabolic process creates gas, where does it go, transfer, change to.... What happend with the "gas" if it is not released? I noticed that afters some pelvic and muscle alignment my lower back spine does not crack any more. Does it mean that wrong posture and displacement of vertebras, discs or joints creates "gas"? Do you find in your practice clients to whom you can not do neck cracking manipulation, meaning, when you do manipulation nothing happens? Sorry for too many questions, but I did not find anywhere on the web an explanation except that this is release of the gas but I would like to now more about chemistry behind this manipulation. Kind regards.

    • @JohnGibbons
      @JohnGibbons  5 років тому +3

      Hi, interesting questions and there is not much information on the internet...as far as I am aware the gas is a mix of carbon dioxide and nitrogen and possibly oxygen and I perceive the gas is released from the synovial membrane and through the joint capsule during the high velocity thrust (HVT) and this motion actually causes the joint planes of the superior and inferior facet joint to separate and this is called a cavitation. Generally speaking, most patients tend have more motion and reduced pain after this technique. Hope that helps, regards JG

      I guess the question of @AWD7 could partially lead to the following :
      is cavitation a sign of a vertebra putting itself back in place ?
      I'm pretty sure we both know it is wrong and fear-mongering to say so.
      We both know we can make the same, and whichever, "synovial" joint pop every 20 minutes or so.
      It would be weird (totally irrational) to be stuck that often. The idea is sensational.
      But on another note.
      What would you deduct from the intensity of the sound of the cavitation ?
      Would you say that big noise cavitation arise more out of "stiff" segments or out of segments that haven't been popped since a while ?
      Thanks again for your sharing and your time.

    • @bryarstarr3447
      @bryarstarr3447 5 років тому +1

      @AWD7 and @John Gibbons The cavitation is not a release of gas rather it is a joining of smaller gas bubbles (Tribonucleation) in the joint capsule. It is not “released” or “popped open”. This rapid joining of many small gaseous bubbles causes the audible.

    I have Tourette’s syndrome, One of my ticks is cracking my neck. I do it a lot throughout the day but the loudest cracks are in the morning, or if I haven’t done it in like an hour or two. I basically put my hand on the right side of my lower jaw, then look up to the left, and in a swift move push my neck ever so slightly to the top left, I do the same with the other side. A little lower, and you need to start finding the exact amount of chin tilt (down or up) prior to a sideways S shaped traction wave break.
