I have a French door Whirlpool. I’ve had it for about 14 + years an it won’t die! It’s been move 4 times long distance. The ice maker works great, been wanting a new one. I’ll probably will get another whirlpool with all the fancy stuff they have now.
U won't get another one like that if u get rid of it just remember that. Most New 1 are built to malfunction. required frequent technician extreme unreliable.⚠️ Even use resale values extremely low is the reason for it ⚠️
Well, at least someone had a Whirlpool fridge that worked properly over it life span. Mine has required numerous repairs including leaking, ice maker woes, circuit board failures to name a few. And guess what? Numerous sources mention these deficiencies. Never again for me. Same with Bosch, Fridgidare, and Samsung. A good friend is an appliance repair person so I get the low down on the new stuff too.
@@fogsmart I know this is all late, but I’ve gone through two whirlpools and GE refrigerators in the last 20 years (4 total fridges). There’s no fridge out there that will last me lol. My whirlpools has the same exact problems that you described. All the repairs were always costly and annoying. I’m hoping my new LG will last me, but now I’m seeing comments how they don’t last either lol. This sucks

Thanks to a little research and listening to UA-camrs posts I decided on buying a Whirlpool. It always rates in the top 5 and I hear no complaints from anyone.
I'm waiting for mine to be delivered just ordered the Whirlpool french door bottom freezer. These LG just don't do it for me, it's a fridge not a car lol.
Which one did you get? I am looking at the whirlpool wrx986sihz. Reviews seem mixed but it has a ton of features that I love, most importantly being the french doors and 3 level sliding freezer. I absolutely cannot stand the giant tub bottom freezers that you have to dig through.

Buyers be aware! We bought a Samsung refrigerator (not from this company) and had nothing but trouble with the ice maker. Service rep said it is a bad design. He installed the "updated" version and still we have issues. No more Samsung appliances in this house.

All I can say is that Samung makes great products. However its best to buy appliances that are made by companies mainly making appliances, nothing more.
French door refrigerators are today's version of the harvest gold monstrosities of the 1960s. The tried and true side-by side refrigerators are really the most usable and practical.
That's not true for all. I HATED our side by side! The freezer doesn't fit very wide items like a frozen Costco pizza, the depth means having to remove items to get to others on the same shelf, and its horrible for baking and party platters, which the fridge isn't wide enough to store.

Samsung ice makers have a class action suite against them. Be warned before you buy.
LG Refrigerators have a class action law suit against them now due to failing compressors. LG customer service is horrible, many technicians won't repair them. I'm on my 4th compressor and circuit board $400 every time for labor even though parts are covered. DON'T buy LG. Buy another brand and save yourself, heartache, money, and time.
Just had my LG die on me. Called a technician earlier when it wasn’t freezing, he said if it’s LG he won’t even look at it. Had a friend gas it and it worked for a while. I’m looking to get a Whirlpool, seems to be the overwhelming recommendation!

Our family also had a Samsung refrigerator, and we suffered so much when the ice maker blew out and started to melt and freeze up in the back of the compartment. My poor father had to use a hairdryer set on high every other day to melt it out, clean up all the water leakage inside, and mop up the residue from the floor. We bought it without research and based on the design but the mechanical parts are seriously flawed. As essential an appliance as the refrigerator is to a family, it created a nightmare for us for months.
People say Samsung Ice makers suck, stay away, others say LG suck stay away, what should I buy then?
@murcroadster I hasitate to believe the consumer reports, you read that GE is one of the best, then watch vidoes where people coment on how crapy they are.
I have a beautiful Samsung 4-door flex-zone fridge that was $3400. It has been total garbage. The ice maker complaints are legit unless they have fixed the design. It also takes up a bunch of space in the fridge. The compressor has failed and the freezer has failed due to leaks twice. Complete trash. I will never again buy a Samsung appliance. (The irony is that we have a range of theirs that we absolutely love)
I actually just ordered the LG he showed as his #2 (in counter depth). Fingers crossed... couldn't be worse than the Samsung...

Yes. I moved house and bought a Samsung TV and fridge. The screen failed two months out of warranty and the fridge leaks defrosted water to the bottom of the crisper drawers. I do not trust Samsung. I had to fix the fridge myself. Both products were mid range.

I'd like to know where the power cord is located? believe it or not the owners manual does not say or show where it is. I need to put the outlet in the correct spot, high or low, before the drywallers start putting up walls.
@@gregorygrimm5540 yes it is going to be accessible, but I still want it to be closer rather than farther if possible. The LG manual and specs guide did not say how long the cord is or where it is coming from. I'm going to put the box at 36", apparently most fridges have them toward the bottom.
I am shocked so many Samsung Frigs sell. I just got rid of my Samsung model... absolutely sick and tired of the freezer / ice cubes constantly clogging up. About every month I would have to go in and manually melt the built up ice. I have had two different tech companies look at it. They said it’s a manufacture defect and Samsung sucks! There was even a class action lawsuit against them. Terrible refrigerators.
Agreed, I have a Samsung now and I have nothing but problems with the ice maker. I will never buy a Samsung again.
Just talked to a fridge repairman and he said don't buy LG/samsung.
LG sucks too, from my experience. I’ve already replaced a compressor on a 3-4 yr old refrigerator and have to manually defrost every few years due to errors in the ice maker fan.
@@BigVK19 I ended up buying a whirlpool frig. On a positive note on LG.... My LG washer and dryer are over 12 years old now and still doing well...but I think the dryer's heater is getting weaker.
@@cobrabtc LG has very reliable appliances except for their refrigerators, according to a spokesperson however, LG has improved their compressors and software that controls the compressor for the 2019 and newer LG models so hopefully that means their refrigerators are finally reliable

This is almost the identical model as mine. It's been a nightmare. Over 5 separate service calls and no solutions. The compressor died 2 times, freezing causes circulation fan to seize up (this is the issue the lawsuits were aiming at), and after a 5 painful years, it died. Our LG microwave was just as poorly made.

Own a lovely designed refrigerator model by Samsung but unfortunately like many and under a class action lawsuit, the ice maker was negligently designed. I see in their 2020 models Samsung continues to use the same failed design of ice maker. Due to mass production and cost ( infamous global market) with minimal competition, errors in production of goods is negligible and lawsuits a minor fine. Besides their is an industry for repair and a promotion to repeat the cycle, like by a new one....

I &ave been looking at two LGs French door and freezer on bottom. I jist wish they sold fridges like this owthout ice and water makers as I do not want to hook it up do to too many complaints for many fridges no matter brand breaks down. I want it without those features. .

Yes, the Korean appliances (Samsung and LG) have inverters, I would suggest staying away from Korean brands for refrigerators (especially LG) as these companies are very experimental and they really want to push newer technologies that even they haven't worked out the bugs in. However in other aspects (washers, dryers, ranges) the Korean brands are really good at and you will be more than pleased in reliability (generally for these stay away from Samsung and go for LG) but if you just want a simple reliable appliance with not too many bells and whistles then your safest bet is Whirlpool
I bought a Samsung family hub refrigerator paid almost 4k and it doesnt work, waiting for home depot to come and get it, thats another store.

Thanks for the video. I have this question. Will any French door refrig fit in an opening that is width 39 in, height 68 in, depth 32 1/2 in.. I can remove the cabinet above the current opening to take care of a 70 inch. But what about when the door is open at 90°? Will it fit within the 39" opening?
Door opening at 90 degree should be fine, just as long as its not opening in front of a close kitchen island. 39" width has no bearing on doors opening
refrigerators all have dimension guides that show the clearance needed from adjacent walls. It's different for every model.

Samsung is the WORST maker for refrigerators! We spent $3800 on a huge 4 french door flex Samsung 4 yrs ago and the sealed cooling system just failed a few months outside of our extended warranty. Because the cooling system is sealed, it is NOT REPAIRABLE!!! So if anything happens to yours, the fridge is done. Even worse than the quality is their customer service, which is a complete nightmare...assuming you can even get through to them that is. Buyer beware!

He misspoke - that isn't an icemaker, just an ice tray. I have an LG with the same feature. But it is handy to put ice in it for extra use.

Why didnt you talk about the LG compressor issues people are having or the Samsung ice maker issues that are constantly being complained about buy both LG and samsung buyers? Honestly, I believe GE & Kitchenaid makes Quality products that are reliable for your money. Samsung and LG dont belong in the appliance business because its not their strong suit.
There is a Samsung support group on Facebook for those of us who’ve had the misfortune of owning a Samsung refrigerator. That’s all you need to know about their products. Their customer service is nonexistent. Don’t be taken in by the sequins! You’ve been warned!
Do not buy LG. Bought a stove.....Store Technician acknowledged manufacturer defect.....LG would not stand behind their product. Store gave me an exchange for a different manufacturer.
Stay away from Samsung and LG. It will save you a lot of problems and money.
Please don't buy an LG or Kenmore refrigerator! Their linear compressors are garbage. In less then four years it will be nothing more than a $2000 paperweight. Samsungs have issues but at least it isn't the compressors going bad with them.

One thing that people don't understand is that this type of people sell these type of refrigerators and reason why they say they are the "best". Worst appliance you can buy #1 samsung, #2 LG, #3 kenmore, #4 Frigedaire. LG is getting wise by selling parts to other manufactures like kenmore and hince why it's in #3. I'm an appliance tech, and these are the ones I work on the most. Samsung has bad parts, design that they crap out within a year, less than 5 years. LG basically make shitty compressors and plastic parts. Keep buying these appliances, job security for me. ;)

@@adamyoder488 "American built" meaning that they are built somewhere else but has american parts are..Whirlpool, kitchenaid, maytag, amana. These type of brands are durable.

@@adamyoder488 GE monograms and profiles are a hit or miss. One thing you need to understand is that appliances now are being built to "fancy". With all the electronics, bells and whistles, something is bound to short out. EXPENSIVE when it comes to replacing a control board or repairs. One thing people don't understand is maintaining your appliances really helps the life span. Example would be putting power surge to the refrigerator. I'm in Texas and if people have done that during our bad snowstorm, I wouldn't of had most of my calls with refrigerators boards shorted out. Also understand that I work on some appliance that break down compared to appliances that have wear and tear. Maintain your appliances and you'll be fine. Sorry for my rambling.

5yrs ago I bought an LG French door fridge. After three years it broke during warranty and got a new compressor. Today, it broke for the second time and the tech says there is some internal leak. Pretty much unfixable. Now I'm looking for a new fridge. I agree don't buy LG.

The number 1 Samsung has a BAD ice maker. I have to say these reviews are bad, bad, bad.
He says it is the #1 seller, not the best quality, so technically he is not lying. I bought a Samsung and the ice maker requires constant attention. After the first month I quit ripping everything apart to melt the ice off of that paddle and just decided to buy ice from the store.Also when the fridge kicks on it is as loud as a lawn mower. Also not happy with Samsung microwave. The magnet must be weak, after maybe 3 years it is taking longer to heat food.

Samsung appliances are absolute junk. Have had two houses now that came with Samsung and have had to replace everything both times. I love my Samsung phone, but their appliances are trash.
I bought all samsung in my house, the fridge is dead after 4 years,
after 1 years of normal use the icemaker jam and not work and samsung
know it and never fix it. the stove is cheap made, after 4 years the
light that show if still heat always stay on, the control are defective
and not precise, the door don't close properly, the dishwasher is ok,
the washing machine as been replace because could explode. I will never
buy samsung again. People bought this brand because it have nice look.
but trust me avoid it at all cost.

Typical far east products, all cheap plasticky interiors. Sub Zero much better🇺🇲
