Many years ago, before plastic wrap or bags, Mom would wrap our sandwiches in waxed paper. I used to cut sheets to line cake pans to help cake come out of the pan. I keep waxed paper to put between very detailed dies and the paper. I just remembered that I used to iron a piece of waxed paper when my iron didn’t glide smoothly.

I won’t be surprised to see waxed paper disappear from the markets here in the U.S.! When I was a child (I’m now 73!) it was used in the same way that plastic wrap is used today. My mother had a really neat way of rolling and creasing the sides and then tucking under the ends and the sandwiches were protected just as they are today and without plastic! Of course it can’t do all of the other things plastic wrap can so yes, it will most likely go away too! Grab some while you can!!

As an old preschool teacher I can tell you another way to use wax paper: in the fall, we would collect pretty colored leaves. Then we would sharpen old crayons & save the shavings. Cut squares of wax paper, put a leaf inside, sprinkle some crayon bits, cover with another piece of wax paper & iron! Stained glass cards for thanksgiving! Not very fancy compared to what we can do now, but the kids loved making them! My mom used all the ways that others have mentioned! It was left behind when plastic wrap was invented, because it didn’t work well with juicy or watery things. It is however much better for the environment! Great cards, how long were you in Frankfurt? I hope it was a good trip! Haven’t even unpacked, just had to do some crafting, first?! It sounds funny to Americans when you say “hoovering”, because younger people probably have never even heard of the company Hoover! But we do say “Bandaids” (for what you call plasters, I think) & “Kleenex” for paper tissues, so we’re also guilty of using brand names! I love all the different words used either in British English or in American English, some are really funny! Thanks so much for another fun video, fun use of those Timmy dies! Erica❤

As another commenter said, you might see if amazon carries a product called Glad “Press and Seal” to help keep the intricate die cut pieces corralled. It works well for this kind of thing, especially if you’re inclined to reset one color of the die cuts into the frame left from cutting the same pattern out of another color. Thx, too, Marion, for a wonderful, fun, session of this technique!

Would the design or texture show through if you wiped the panel off with your kitchen towel after you used the ink? I have done that with other resist products. It worked especially well with the Distress Oxide. The ink wiped right off the resist part and the white card showed through.

Perhaps I’m wrong, but Marion, I think you forgot a step. I’ve seen this done before (never tried it myself), but I thought after adding the ink I thought you were supposed to rub over the paper with a paper towel, which removes the ink from on top of the wax, and then iron off the wax onto another paper, and then the design shows through much lighter. Your paper is still lovely though. 🇺🇸❤️🇺🇸
