Does SmartLife make sense for a (low) prescription like -1.5? [6-10hrs of digital study+work regularly]
Yeah, because of the amount of time you spend with digital screens. I'm only around -1.00 and I can tell the difference. Having said that... will it make a big difference? Probably not. But you should definitely get SmartLife if you can!

Which lenses to go for? Zeiss Drivesafe or Clearview? What's the difference? My regular usage of laptop + mobile is around 11 hours and driving for around 1 hour.
Regarding DriveSafe, have you found them helpful for patients with glare issues from early cataracts? My acuity is still fine, but night driving is an issue. I'm hoping DriveSafe might buy me a little time before having to commit to surgery.
I have just brought some platinum varifocal lenses from boots. These are my first pair and I'm finding it hard to adjust to them. I didn't find them very helpful, I felt like I had to drag any information out of them about which lenses to buy (like they aren't allowed to give you any info) I find the peripheral vision very narrow, so much so that I can't focus on the whole page of my tablet. They are only +1 and thought I would get a lot less distortion than this. Would I be better off changing them to Zeiss lens?
Yes, or even an office or digital lens depending on the rest of your prescription. Would be glad to make you a better pair - email me rob@thespectaclefactory.com
I want to make Zeiss Office Lenses for eye comfort in my office... My age is 25.. and I need single vision lens according to my prescription... Yes it is available on both, and if you check my ClearView review I did make the comparison between the two. SmartLife are more advanced and more natural, but some people might prefer ClearView for the pure sharpness.
Thanks @@thespectaclefactory! One follow up question. If my prescription doesn’t call for a boost on the smartlife lenses. Would smartlife still be a preferable? My prescription is in the -7 / -6.75 for single vision but other than that nothing too exciting.

Hi, Thank you for the awesome video. I’m going with Zeiss but having a hard time deciding between Drivesafe vs Smartlife individual single vision lenses, I love the antiglare in drivesafe I have this issue driving at night but at the same time I work with screen alot I don’t want to miss out on Smartlife, the dealer here says Drivesafe is the flagship that have everything that smartlife has if I choose the individual lenses except for new Blue guard. What do you think I should go for? Also what do you think of Nikon SeeMax Infinite as a competitor? Should I consider them or stick with Zeiss? P.S. I will use Photofusion X with either of the lenses.

hello I’m from morocco and I want to buy zeiss lenses smartlife and with doctor correction, please I want to know there is any trust supplier from zeiss here in Morocco, and How can I be sure of the authenticity of lenses from Zeiss smartlife?
After a cataract surgery in Mexico the doctor said that my new cataract lenses have UV protection, so I don't need UV protection sunglasses anymore, and he recommended that I buy eyeglasses with infrared protection. Now that I am back to Canada I want to buy another one. Searched all over the internet to find this type of sunglasses, and it was near impossible to find until I reached the website of Zeiss and found what they call it Sunlens that offer infrared protection, but they don't say from where to buy it. I need your help

Thank you for the video it's very informative and Wow a whole film crew your so lucky! I'm a big fan of yours and I have watch all of your videos and love them all. I just have one question I like the technology and innovation of Zeiss lenses but base on the reviews I have read there is only one down side of Zeiss eye lenses the coating easily peels off compared to other lenses brand like Hoya and Essilor. Base on your own experience does the coating really peels of after a few months or a years and what have Zeiss done to address this issue?
Hey! Thank you for your support. Zeiss have 3 different AR coatings (for plastic lenses) - Lotutec, Duravision Silver and Duravision Platinum. Lotutec is quite outdated nowadays, and yes I have had issues with this coating. Silver I have literally never used. Platinum seems pretty good, and comes with a good warranty if it does fail. But I think Hoya are ahead of everybody else when it comes to coatings. I've been to their facility and the tests they do are second to none.
Hi there,my son is wearing zeiss aspheric lensses for his hypermeteopia of +6.00 and astigmatism 1.25. His vision is perfect!however ,we recently tried to switch to hoya nuluxe aspheric lensses. He does not see good with them and refuse to wear them.he always switch to the old ones even if they have a few scratches...what do you think the problem is?thank you
Hi Rob, first time commenting. 😊 Could you let me know the differences between the Zeiss lenses with customized laser engraving (the owner’s name, etc.) and the ones with regular laser Zeiss logo engraving? Thank you so much for taking the time to help me!
That would make a cool video actually. There is a big difference. If there are the extra engravings, that means the lenses have been made bespoke for you. If not, they are stock.
Hello I enjoyed your video, but i'm a little bit confused about all the variety of lenses. I'm gonna buy Zeiss lenses for my new glasses in next few days, but I'm not sure what to ask for in my towns store. I want to have the SmartLife lenses cause u said they are the best choice for most people, but I also want to have Photofusion X option. Can I have the best of two worlds or are they different type of lenses, so I need to choose one? And what does each of those lenses consider regarding coatings and stuff? I want to have scratch resistance, UV, anti Reflective etc? Can you help me? thx :)
What do you think about Frame and Lens colour according to Face colour ? Does that really matter ? Could you please tell me like which colour of Frames and Lenses should i go for if i have brown / medium skin colour ?
I’m looking for the Best Zeiss lenses. I’m a videographer so having any tint is really out of the question I think I couldn’t get exposure correctly. Are the glass ones the sharpest and do they scratch easily. Thanks and Great Videos
Yes, glass have the best clarity, highest scratch resistance and least discolouration. Many opticians will try to talk you out of it, but we'd love to make you a pair
I love your videos. Luckily, guy down the road sells Zeiss lenses. Can you fit Zeiss Drive Safe lenses to Mclaren frames? That would be a wicked combination.
I've just ordered a vintage pair of Aviators by Metzler with Zeiss clear brown umbral lenses manifatured in former West Germany back in 1987, and I wonder whether the quality is still outstanding now, seeing all current technology advances, or should I just feel contented with the fact they are vintage and rarity?
Hi, Great video!. I must admit as an optometrist myself, I'm keen to try drive safe lenses. I previously had LASIK and have some residual astigmatism. I have a problem with glare at night. How much would you charge for a reglaze into my own full plastic frame? Any fellow professional discounts would be most welcome :)
Question. I just ordered Zeiss Trivex lenses that are also progressive. My question is, Trivex is a registered brand of lenses. So is the lens Trivex, or Zeiss? Or does the Zeiss lab make the Trivex lenses? Will the Zeiss watermark be on my lenses or the Trivex watermark? Wondering if you can shed some clarity on this subject matter. By the way, your channel is THE BEST!!!!!!!
another burning question here to challenge you Robert, I am in Australia, does all the Zeiss partner have somewhat similar equipment in UK ? Ipfofiler etc and Zeiss machines? without those high tech machine can they do Individual lenses ? I am very interested in a pair of DuraVision Drivesafe , can I custom it ? for example ; I wanted it to be trivex at 1.53 , I want DuraVision Platinum coating on top of DriveSafe, can these 2 compliment each other ? Does DriveSafe comes with PhotoFusion or Transition? I noticed some Zeiss lenses has option of Transition and then for a bit more the same lens can be "upgraded" to PhotoFusion, is that the case or printing error in the dispensary booklet ?
Most Zeiss opticians don't have the Visufit 1000, i.Profiler or VisuPhor/VisuScreen, all of which we use... All DriveSafe lenses come inherently with Duravision Platinum underneath the DriveSafe layer. In Trivex, only Transitions is possible I'm afraid.
This question may seems a little politically incorrect. My left eye lens prescription is (-) 6. I Plan to go in for a new pair of glasses. Between the two brands, Zeiss and Hoya, which would be better for the lens ? Please advise.
I just ordered verilux crizal ( not sure if spelling). They were expensive. I hope they were a good choice. I was told they protected against glare and reflection by the “glaze” being IN the glasses not painted on surface. Hope I didnt overpay just for a name. I was looking for you YT about Verilux crizal but can’t find it.
You mentioned for Cartier eyeglasses, Blue and beyond. Would these lenses be made by Zeiss or are they only available through Cartier. I do have two pairs of Cartier frames with Zeiss lenses. I am due for an eye check and am considering what lenses to have fitted. Thank you for your advice
They hadn't launched when I made the video. They are the newest lens design from Zeiss, but weren't created to be the best. They were designed to be a more affordable category. ClearView are really great though
@@thespectaclefactory thank you for your reply. Indeed, they are great value, pair of 1.67 costs 300 eur. in my country. Which would you recommend from Zeiss if go premium? I do work with PC from 6 to 10 hours a day.
@@pragalathan9917 it depends on your eyesight I guess, if you have -1 I believe you won’t feel a difference. My eyes are -4,5 so I got 1,67 thickness, but for the next glasses I’ll go with 1,74. So to compare 30€ worth lenses with Zeiss 300€ - you can feel the difference, clarity, distortion and of course things you can’t feel is all the filters, UV, Blue Light. If you have 300€ for lenses it’s worth it. I’ll buy next lenses from Zeiss for 600€, will see if they are better than Zeiss for 300€
Real deal need these rapid eye movement out of focus... now that stopped but constant migraine I think next level not digital would help I can't see very far with these ones
If one were to do a direct comparison between the BlueGuard lenses which already come with DuraVision Platinum AR coating vs any Zeiss lenses with DuraVision Platinum coating, is there a big difference in the reflection on the surface of the lenses? I take a lot of photos and videos and would prefer to have the least amount of glare possible so that my eyes aren’t hidden in pictures. From what I’ve read online, BlueGuard lenses have 50% less reflection when compared to lenses with the Zeiss BlueProtect coating but what about when compared with DuraVision Platinum? Do the BlueGuard lenses make any difference and do they still reflect purple? I know that they both have the same AR coating but there’s got to be some kind of difference in their appearance whether it be the color or the amount of light reflection you can see. Please help! 🤓
I never thought there was much difference between one brand or another since it is difficult for me to compare an older pair of glasses with a new prescription. My last pair were made with Zeiss. And they were the best glasses I owned in more than 50 years A few months after picking them up I had an accident that broke the drill mount frames, the lenses survived, but to my surprise the lenses were unusable! My new pair are from a different glass shop and they use essilor lenses….perhaps it’s their lab techs inexperience, computer glitch, the poor sales attitude or some other thing but I’m not impressed with the smaller field of view and lack of overall quality of the optics…several pinholes have appeared on the eye side of one lens that look like a flaw in the the coating I want my zeiss lenses but they are not available anywhere near me
That's cool to hear, and I'm sad that you had to go back to Essilor... you can always order Zeiss lenses from us and maybe we could even salvage those old lenses! Plenty of our clients order their Zeiss lenses from us from all parts of the world.
Problem with all this is, we consumers never get to trial on these lenses prior to them cutting it for us. But by then, money is paid, and we consumers may or may not end up justifying the price paid for the marketing hype.

Zeiss drivesafe lens pair with Adaptive aun brown, is it okay to use in night?
You can't use a lens that's minimum 60% tinted for driving at night
Which lenses to go for? Zeiss Drivesafe or Clearview? What's the difference? My regular usage of laptop + mobile is around 11 hours and driving for around 1 hour.
Then you should get SmartLife
@@thespectaclefactory thanks for the prompt reply. I explored SmartLife but it going out of my budget. Any budget alternative to SmartLife?
Regarding DriveSafe, have you found them helpful for patients with glare issues from early cataracts? My acuity is still fine, but night driving is an issue. I'm hoping DriveSafe might buy me a little time before having to commit to surgery.
Purchased Zeiss lenses in Turkey with a warranty, and now I am in California. Where do I go to get the scratches fixed on my lenses? Thanks,
Thank you Robert. Always very informative and professional.
🙏 thanks
I have just brought some platinum varifocal lenses from boots. These are my first pair and I'm finding it hard to adjust to them.
I didn't find them very helpful, I felt like I had to drag any information out of them about which lenses to buy (like they aren't allowed to give you any info)
I find the peripheral vision very narrow, so much so that I can't focus on the whole page of my tablet.
As per my prescription my left eye's power is -1 spherical and -0.5 cylindrical at 90° axis and my right eye's power is -1.5 spherical and -0.5 cylindrical at 80° axis and I have 6/6 vision. Am I permitted to make Zeiss Office Lenses according to my prescription and age ?? In my office I have to stare at the monitor for more than 12 hours... So I think Zeiss Office Lenses are optimal for that purpose... Please reply me if I can make Zeiss Office Lenses considering my age and my prescription..
Hi, email us at hello@thespectaclefactory.com and one of our team will be in touch to discuss this further :)
I’m in Perth, Australia. Can you recommend glasses for me from a picture or FaceTime?
Yeah, we offer both options for consultation. Email me - rob@thespectaclefactory.com
How do i get zeiss lenses put in my glasses i cant find a store or site online?
We can help you with that! Just email hello@thespectaclefactory.com
Ok. Thank you 😊
How to check authenticity of Zeiss clearview lenses?
Hi there is there anyway to tell genuine zeiss lens for prescription glasses ??
Yes, the logo engraving in the corner.
@thespectaclefactory thanks just ordered my pair couple days ago will be looking forward to it!
Please provide the make and model of the (first) frame that you are wearing in this video.
How would you compare the smart life vs clear view lenses? I’m interested to know if the BlueGuard material is available for both lenses.
Hello, will Zeiss ever make any new lenses for Sony?
I think Zeiss is always innovating in every aspect of lenses, so certainly. But I'm not involved with that division so I don't have any information, sorry
What are differences between adaptive sun and photofusion?
I actually made a video about this : ua-cam.com/video/_8YEkGCiR5g/v-deo.html
Zeiss lens are exceptionally good but so are RODENSTOCK LENS.Please review rodenstock lens as compared to zeiss
That is true! Rodenstock are great. It's always difficult to do comparisons like that because there are so many variables, but I will try to provide my thoughts in future
Where in the USA can I send my frames to have zeiss lenses ??
Not sure about the USA, but many, many of our clients in the US send their glasses into us. We're in the UK and it's quite a straightforward process. Drop us an email at hello@thespectaclefactory.com
Hi,
Thank you for the awesome video.
Hi, why don't you book a virtual consultation with us and we con go through the different options that would be best for you...

yesssss,great video👍
please make a video specifically zeiss-digital smart lenses thank you🙏🏼
still can't afford to buy zeiss lenses😅😅
Well that's what I have in most of my glasses! So in my SmartLife review video that's what I was wearing.
Thanks for your support btw!
hello I’m from morocco and I want to buy zeiss lenses smartlife and with doctor correction, please I want to know there is any trust supplier from zeiss here in Morocco, and How can I be sure of the authenticity of lenses from Zeiss smartlife?
Hi, unfortunately I'm not able to authenticate other suppliers but we do ship internationally, including to Morocco!
I can help you with this. Email me - rob@thespectaclefactory.com
Smart life or drive safe? I'm not sure which is best for me. I do a lot of night driving, hiking, fishing , photography and editing photos on devices . I'm looking for the all around lens but clarity being most important.
Sphere -0.75 (both eyes)
cylinder R -1.00 L -2.00
Axis R 150 L 013
How Many takes Rob ? :)
😂 they were filming for around 3 hours! & I had a long script to read several times. I think I did ok 😆
@@thespectaclefactory Excellent video from a pro.
Do you ship to the US? We can’t get the adaptive sun over here
We do! And I know you contacted me via Instagram so thanks for your order, Mike 👍
Hi there,my son is wearing zeiss aspheric lensses for his hypermeteopia of +6.00 and astigmatism 1.25. His vision is perfect!however ,we recently tried to switch to hoya nuluxe aspheric lensses. He does not see good with them and refuse to wear them.he always switch to the old ones even if they have a few scratches...what do you think the problem is?thank you
Hard to say... Hoya are good too. Same prescription? If so, then switch back to Zeiss - some people can tell
@@thespectaclefactory yes, same prescription...he said his side view is not the same...
What's the difference between Mirror and Flash Mirror? Can we have Smartlife lenses with Photofusion X Duravision Flash Mirror finish?
Mirror is fully reflective, Flash is partially reflective. Not sure about PFX as not released in the UK yet.
Can you help me? thx :)
Yes, you can have all of those things!
What do you think about Frame and Lens colour according to Face colour ? Does that really matter ?
Could you please tell me like which colour of Frames and Lenses should i go for if i have brown / medium skin colour ?
Skin colour is definitely a factor, but I wouldn't recommend a tint based purely on that
@@thespectaclefactory thanks
@@HPY07 You're welcome
Hi, what's the difference between their clearview and precision lenses?
What about stock single vision and $X (i presume this means surfaced)
Yes, absolutely! And we can make them for you if you like. We ship all over the world.
What about essilor?
Here's an idea try calling them!
Is zeiss Drivesafe and Blueprotect lenses with 1.6 Index are glass material lenses?
Nope, DriveSafe is not available in glass because you can't apply the coating to glass.
@@thespectaclefactory so Mr8?
Yes, you could do that
Hey, what is the name of youre glass for the first seconds of video?
It's a J F Rey Carbon/Wood frame - we can source it for you but not in the blue which was a limited edition. It's available in red, grey and brown.
@@thespectaclefactory OMG, i love brown
Cool, email me via rob@thespectaclefactory.com and we'll get you sorted
Trivex is a material, not a lens. So a Zeiss lens can be made of Trivex, but so could any other. They'll have the Zeiss logo on.
And thanks!!
@@thespectaclefactory -- So if I'm understanding this correctly, Trivex is a material that is adhered to the Zeiss lens?
@@sinatralalatrivex isn’t a registered brand of lenses, it’s a material and many brands make their own version on trivex lenses.
another burning question here to challenge you Robert, I am in Australia, does all the Zeiss partner have somewhat similar equipment in UK ?
@@thespectaclefactory PhotoFusion VS Transition , is it an apple to apple comparison?
This question may seems a little politically incorrect. My left eye lens prescription is (-) 6. I Plan to go in for a new pair of glasses. Between the two brands, Zeiss and Hoya, which would be better for the lens ? Please advise.
Zeiss clear view if you are below 40
I just ordered verilux crizal ( not sure if spelling). They were expensive. I hope they were a good choice. I was told they protected against glare and reflection by the “glaze” being IN the glasses not painted on surface. Hope I didnt overpay just for a name. I was looking for you YT about Verilux crizal but can’t find it.
They are alright. Definitely not as good as Zeiss's Duravision, but they are pretty good in their own regard.
Do a review of Zeiss Thermo Force Polarized lens.
Hi! I really love your frame. If it's okay to share the brand and model name/number.
Hey! It's the J F Rey 2863. We've shipped it all over the world, and I think we have one pair left in red. You won't find it anywhere else
Did you ever hear about a brand of lenses called Zwei from Germany?
You mentioned for Cartier eyeglasses, Blue and beyond. Would these lenses be made by Zeiss or are they only available through Cartier. I do have two pairs of Cartier frames with Zeiss lenses. I am due for an eye check and am considering what lenses to have fitted. Thank you for your advice
Hi Ken, yes we can replicate this with Zeiss lenses. Or Hoya.
Anyone with experience wearing the progressive smartlife pure?
My optics recommended zeiss - clear view with blue filter, I wondering why you haven’t menioned this model? Are these lenses already outdated?
They hadn't launched when I made the video. They are the newest lens design from Zeiss, but weren't created to be the best. They were designed to be a more affordable category. ClearView are really great though
@@thespectaclefactory thank you for your reply. Indeed, they are great value, pair of 1.67 costs 300 eur. in my country. Which would you recommend from Zeiss if go premium? I do work with PC from 6 to 10 hours a day.
@@UbbeWankenubbehave you used clearview. How is it working out for you mate?
@@pragalathan9917 it depends on your eyesight I guess, if you have -1 I believe you won’t feel a difference. My eyes are -4,5 so I got 1,67 thickness, but for the next glasses I’ll go with 1,74. So to compare 30€ worth lenses with Zeiss 300€ - you can feel the difference, clarity, distortion and of course things you can’t feel is all the filters, UV, Blue Light. If you have 300€ for lenses it’s worth it. I’ll buy next lenses from Zeiss for 600€, will see if they are better than Zeiss for 300€
Carl Zeiss is just awesome glassings
💯
every type: what about a near variable?
I can't tell a difference in reflection with and without BlueGuard
Thank you! New subscriber here. Love your content 🙌🏽
I never thought there was much difference between one brand or another since it is difficult for me to compare an older pair of glasses with a new prescription. My last pair were made with Zeiss. And they were the best glasses I owned in more than 50 years
A few months after picking them up I had an accident that broke the drill mount frames, the lenses survived, but to my surprise the lenses were unusable!
My new pair are from a different glass shop and they use essilor lenses….perhaps it’s their lab techs inexperience, computer glitch, the poor sales attitude or some other thing but I’m not impressed with the smaller field of view and lack of overall quality of the optics…several pinholes have appeared on the eye side of one lens that look like a flaw in the the coating
I want my zeiss lenses but they are not available anywhere near me
That's cool to hear, and I'm sad that you had to go back to Essilor... you can always order Zeiss lenses from us and maybe we could even salvage those old lenses! Plenty of our clients order their Zeiss lenses from us from all parts of the world.
Is there any advantages for people of color from zeiss?
No, I believe they benefit everyone equally
I just got a 24x 70 Fe Zeiss lens very disappointing
How come?
Problem with all this is, we consumers never get to trial on these lenses prior to them cutting it for us. But by then, money is paid, and we consumers may or may not end up justifying the price paid for the marketing hype.
