    Thanks so much for the video. I’m in the middle of doing mine and didn’t want to dismantle more than I needed to. Your video was perfect!

      I wanted to add an additional comment. Check which motor you have before getting a belt or kit. I ordered a kit on Amazon for the rough cut 44 but the belt doesn’t fit. Apparently a Kawasaki engine version requires one belt, the Briggs and Stratton version, a different one. It was my mistake. It said for the Kawasaki version and that’s what I thought I had. So be sure to check.

    Thanks for a good informative video, changing the belt was as I figured but it was nice to see you go thought the process. Just a nice little update my mower maybe newer but the 4 engine bolts that I was dreading on mine are welded in place so one doesn't have to twist the arm around 3 different ways Thanks again

      @@pineylife Update I was mistaken the motor bolts are not welded they a plastic washer holding them in place which worked pretty good sorry for the misinformation I was tired and the bugs were getting to me

    Thanks for the video. Very, very helpful in teaching me to change the belt on my Swisher. Much appreciated! Fyi, I think the link you post to the Amazon d&d belt goes to the wrong belt. It should be the A48k or 4lk500 like you mention in the video.

    Wondering if you noticed an increase in the belt life using the kevlar. Have the same mower and need to change the belt. Which belt would you go back to when needed. Thanks

    • @pineylife
      @pineylife  3 роки тому +4

      Yes we did see a difference in the belt life. The kevlar belt last a lot longer. Where I would change a gates belt twice a year the kevlar would last a entire year. Plus anybody that has these bushogs know that if you pull them to fast they will slip. The kevlar can handle alot more slips than a gates belt.

    I can adjust the tension of the tensioner pulley on my machine. I noticed you did NOT adjust the tension but simply put the motor back into its original place. Do you have any suggestions as to how much slack there should be in the belt when tensioner is not engaged. I put a D&D belt on, engaged the tensioner with engine running full throttle and the blades turned. However, before I pulled the mower 5yds in already cut grass, the belt snapped. I suspect there was way too much tension on the belt. I also wonder if I engaged the tensioner with the motor running much less than full throttle, then speeded the engine up would this keep the belt from snapping. Any suggestions would be helpful.

    • @pineylife
      @pineylife  3 роки тому +3

      Your correct I did not adjust the tension in the video. Actually how I done it was when I went to the D&D belt it was a little thicker. What I always done was put the belt on and then bolt the motor plate down. Then I would adjust my tension by how hard it was to put the engage handle down. If it was really hard to engage it without running or while it’s running. I would shut the mower off and then adjust the tension cable to where it would just barley stayed engaged. Then I would go try it and see if it would slip if it did I would stop and shut it down and then adjust it a little till I got it where I needed it. Which I had my engage lever mounted to the deck of the mower. I also had a small bungee cord to hold the engage handle down just until I felt like it had enough tension set. As far as breaking belts that sounds like something had to be hitting the belt. It usually takes a lot for them to break.

    Wondering if you or someone can help me. I just purchased one of these used to run in areas that I dont dare take my compact utility tractor and rotary cutter. We put on one of the new kevlar belts when I purchased it. I am wondering if this is tensioned properly how long does it take to spool up to speed? Wondering if the idler needs tightened on mine. It takes forever for this thing to spool up, almost no perceptable load on engagement. will cut okay but not phenomenal when I am running but thicker grass or heavy brush the blades just stop and it can take 30 seconds on cut ground to get it running again. Is that normal with these? less than excited about it so far but I can take it with my ATV where I wouldnt dare running a tractor and brush hog.

      @pineylife  9 місяців тому +1

      Sounds like it’s to big of a belt or the tensioner is not set right. The max speed to pull these in thick stuff is 3 to 5 mph. If that’s the speed your running it should keep up good.
      If it takes it awhile to get up to speed without being in brush then there is defiantly a issue with to long of a belt, not enough tension or maybe a bearing going out would be my guess.

      mrcongaman your welcome and thanks for watching. I haven’t done a video on that yet. I usually just tighten them till they are solid yet free so they will sling properly. That way it cuts down on vibration.

      They hold up better than the regular belts. I usually only change it once a year now instead of two or three times.
