Swisher Trail behind mowers are a great addition to any hobby farm we have the 60in version of Swisher Mowers. I still use this mower even after buying a tractor it's a tank I will be making a video on cheap useful power equipment to help a first time land owner what to get before you buy a tractor that can have more than one purpose. Great idea for a video series also I have a tip for the Briggs carb if it gets to bypassing the needle seals it's a cheap fix I will let everyone know about in my land maintenance video. Great video and thanks for giving people a great idea for property maintenance 👍.
@@OhioHillTopsHobbyFarm Thanks for commenting back I was going to do this video early this week but my phone died 😔 I got a new one and we are back in business lol just a few hundred dollars sort in the old account LoL. Have a great up coming weekend.
Thanks for the demonstration. The Swisher pull behind mower chops pretty well and the fact that it's designed for an ATV eliminates need for bigger equipment. Enjoyed a full watch. 👍
Your welcome, thank you for watching! I thought it did pretty good, excited to see how it does with sharp blades! It sure is handy to have around. Take care my friend!
Actually pulling with a quad is a bit of a waste....I pull my 60 finisher with a 42 yard works mower.... offset and do a 100" swath....favour that side to brush and hills works awesome I cut about 3.5 acres
Sakima's Ridge Homestead thank you!! I did really good on the trails and pretty good on the medium high grass, I think with sharp blades it would have done better on the tall grass! I thought this series would be a good way to add random things into the channel that some may find helpful! Glad to have you follow along, take care!
OLD DAWG DREAMING thanks Fred! I appreciate it, I figured it would be a good way to add in some of the other random things I do to my channel! The mower did a pretty good job and the price was good on it :) a lot easier to use compared to beating my riding mower up through the woods! Thanks for all the great comments, I hope all is well your way!!
Wooly's World thanks buddy! It sure has been a handy machine, keeps me from beating up on my riding mower, and I can’t get my tractor there yet! I thank ya for watching, take care!
Your right that was a perfect tool for that application. My neighbor had one many years ago that mounted on the front of his four wheeler, i thought that was an awesome mower. Not sure of the make and I've not seen one since but their a pretty reliable mower. Take care Dave.
Dean Barr thanks! It sure worked better than beating my riding mower through the woods haha! I’ve seen those front mount ones also, those are really neat! I appreciate ya watching, take care Dean!
yup i remember them days, long hot days sitting bouncing around cutting grass and trails though the bush, and all that gas and parts i went though, until one day i woke up and thought, why am i doing all this work and getting nothing out of it, so i started getting all the cross bread calves from the dairies dirt cheap and turned them loss at 2 mounts old and kept each one until it was 18 to 24 months old,, they keep all the grass cut and keep the bush clean of under growth,, havent started a mower or brush saw in 38 years, and i get great beef to feed my self and many that cant afford to eat
Haha no doubt! Unfortunately I can’t get cattle right now, the goats do a good job but with only three they take a little while to clear an area! The good new for me is I enjoy that mowing stuff for now, I’m sure I’m another 30-40 years I won’t be wanting to but I’ll figure that out then haha. Take care Arnold!
@@OhioHillTopsHobbyFarm lol ya it gets really old fast as years and heath get ya..and more on the toll life gets on you. the nice part is cattle pritty much look after them self, in winter you put out a few big round bales of hay and there good for a few weeks, throw them a pail of grain 2 times a week when it is 40 below
Yes that mower has been awesome, I need to get it back out and hit the trails now. The Honda was my fathers he had bought new and passed it on to me. Works awesome still! I appreciate ya watching, take care!
@@OhioHillTopsHobbyFarm Very nice. I have a early 2000's honda rancher 350 2wd that i recently found and it was in like new condition. It is a very well built machine. Hoping to have it for the next 20 years or so.
Dave that thing is the real deal. I just posted a video doing the same kind of work. Only difference is mine took probably 5x longer because I don’t have the right equipment yet. Looking forward to seeing what else you put in the series. I always find new info on your channel!
Thanks Adam, I’ll have to check it out! I appreciate the support, I figured this might be a good route to do videos on some of the random things on the property! Take care my friend!
Go get neighborly help and chainsaws cut then down ,thin them out ,shovels, racks, clean your areas, sir, folks, it's really not that hard to figure out, clean out all rocks, remember, racks, shovels, and a fair amount of human resources it's called family, friends and neighbors, now you need to think outside the box, use the imagination God give you ,I expect and prefer to hear something back, wayneeden95@gmail.com
Thanks Larry! It sure is handy for the trails, also worked pretty good on the medium height grass! I had gotten it for a great price and it seems to be working out great for us! Take care my friend :)
Richard M thanks Buddy! Yeah that’s pretty much sums it up haha, sure did nice work on the heavier weeds and rough trails! I appreciate you watching, and as always really enjoy the comments :) take care!
@@OhioHillTopsHobbyFarm thank you i found the same mower on the side of the road with a free sign on it but it has no motor on it so needed to find out the pully size to put one on it and bring it back to life so thank you again
😂 good eye! I was wondering were that went! It was the empty/full label. The plastic clear cover had been broke and that was just hangin on haha! Thanks for watching.
Hey man can I see the trail mower itself? I got one and it’s a bit of a mess in terms of pieces missing could you send me some photos of what yours looks like atound the pulleys and even the start switch
Kyle Jones thanks for watching. The belt went on the smoothest after taking off the tensioner nut and giving it the most room. It was kind of a pain to get the belt under the pulley but it wasn’t terrible! Best of luck to ya!
@@OhioHillTopsHobbyFarm I'm in southeast. I have a swisher 44 first time I tried it I broke the main belt looked like I needed to remove engine so it's sat since. I really want to fix it because it worked great until it didn't. Lol
@kyle Jones sorry for the late response! It most likely looks like that until you remove the tensioning lever and linkage then you should be able to run the belt. I had to youtube belt replacement and you will find some good videos! Hope that helps, take care!
Swisher mowers and rough cuts are BEASTS!!!!!!!!! Great video.....
Mowerman USA thank you! It sure has been a handy mower, perfect for what I use it for. I appreciate ya watching, take care!
Just bought the Swisher Rough Cut pull behind mower. Totally impressed.
They sure are great mowers! Mine has to be 10-15 years old and still cuts great :) definitely a handy machine to have around! Thanks for watching
Ohio Hill Tops Hobby Farm 10-15 years old? Wow! That’s impressive. Glad to hear it served you well.
I sharpen my blades in the vise with a flap disc on a grinder. Removes a lot of material quickly! Nice sharp blades.
