  • This was due to blades locking up and had to be cleaned. The casing broke due to the blades locking up and finally hitting a rock. These mowers are designed to have swinging blades and they weren't swinging when this occurred. Still using same blades just had to loosen them. Hope this helps other before it happens to you. This was user error and has nothing to do with quality of Swisher products.

it probably doesn't matter, but when you put the blade plate back, it's upside down. If you look at the picture before you removed the plate and then when you finished, it was flipped so when you were done, the blades are on top of plate instead of underneath.

I just had to do this on mine and I feel like there is a little play in mine after putting it all back together with the diagram from swisher and following your video…is it supposed to be really snug or is a little play normal?

The blades should swing openly but the actual main nut should be tight.

Great video bud. Have you had to replace the tire and wheel on that. If so do you know the product codes or where to find the replacements? Keep up the great work!

Yeah, it important to grease those as part of the maintenance. The tire and wheel come together. That part I believe is 17383K but I'd call them and tell them your model to make sure. Use KOAM as a promo and save 30%!

How did you get it up on its side?

I lifted it up. Make sure it stays up and is stable. You could use tractor or buddy system but be careful either way. Best of luck!

You're going to have to explain the situation better.

So I just recently aquired one of these used, but I am having a little bit of an issue. The blades will spin, but it will not cut any brush/grass.. I know the blades are facing the correct side up. I replaced the belt as well with one from swisher and no luck. A couple questions... Do you tighten the blades to the point where they don't move freely when the PTO is engaged? I noticed that when I hold the belt pulley on top and try spinning the blade plate underneath, the plate still spins freely. Is this normal?

You'll want them to spin freely if using a roughcut. If the blades are moving correctly, the only thing I could think of is sharpening the blades.

You may try flipping them upside down. You can call Swisher as well. They can walk you though this as well. Without pictured I'm limited help but they can get you going!

@@Akrowdya64 Wondering if you were able to figure out this issue. Sounds like what I am dealing with now after replacing the bearings. The spindle spins with the pulley but has no torque so when it hits anything the blades stop spinning even with the pulley still spinning.
