  • In this video I conclude the video series around the 2023 Chevy Silverado LT Crew Cab with the 2.7 High Output Turbo 4 Cylinder. This engine is the standard engine in the W/T, Custom, Custom TB, LT, LT Trailboss, and RST Double Cab trims. Overall, I enjoyed my time with the Turbo Silverado and I believe it is a great engine with plenty of power. Hopefully you gained some knowledge and information throughout this video series. If you enjoyed it, let me know in the comments below! Let me know what vehicle you would like to see a short series with too.

Is the 4 Cylinder worth it? Depends.
Does it have enough power? YES!
Does it get good fuel economy? Uncertain.
    Can it tow? Absolutely.

I've driven Chevy trucks for 30 plus years. Always had the V8. This week I bought a 2022 crew cab with the 4 cylinder turbo and love it. 300 miles so far in hilly farm country and I'm getting over 20 mpg. Its more roomy than my 2014 and simply overall my favorite truck in those 30 plus years thus far. Thanks for you time making the videos...well done 👏

That's awesome! I am glad you were able to make the switch. Many people seem to still be on the fence about trying the 2.7l for various reasons. I enjoyed it even from someone who wouldn't want to drive a truck on a daily basis.

Great series. I just picked my 23 2.7 up last week. Just under 200 miles in and I'm right at 19.1 mpg so far. Mixed highway and around town. I totally agree that the 8 speed is the only let down on this truck.

@@mikeye36m3 I would hope these A/T tires would not make the MPG decrease that much! I could see about a 1 MPG reduction as these are very mild A/T's in the grand scheme of them.

I had a 2020 Sierra with the 5.3 and the 10 speed. Then a 2022 with the 5.3 and the 8 speed. In the real world, there is truly no noticeable difference. In a few days I'll be picking up a 2023 Silverado with the new 2.7 + 8 speed. From the test drive it was a great combo. I really don't think there is much of a gap between the 8-speed and 10-speed, much like the 5.3 vs the 2.7. if you really want to feel a noticeable difference, go try a 6.2.

I really dont understand adding AFM system on 4 cylinder engine. One of the reason why I avoided gm trucks is just because of AFM system. This has a high failure rates after 100k mileage . This is the sole reason why I hold on to my 2008 4.3 vortec . Solid , drama free truck

I’m a Honda guy, I absolutely loved my Ridgeline, had the original 3.5L vtec…sadly I had to let it go because I needed a larger vehicle with 6 seats. I was on the fence about this engine but you know what, it takes off man! Yeah it’s not a V8, but I’m not towing boats or trailers so this does great for me. Also, I think an 8 speed is decent, it makes sense for a full size truck. Also, I like that fact I only have to change 4 spark plugs vs 8…sheesh. Overall I’m pretty impressed so far with performance and it’s pretty roomy and comfortable inside as well. Also has a lot of tech and features my Honda didn’t have so I like that as well. My mpg is pretty solid as well, I get about 19 city and 23-24 highway but that’s because I put fuel injector cleaner religiously at each fill to keep injectors clean. I also switched to full synthetic oil, engine runs smoother IMO.

Took it on a short highway trip And was getting 23 1/2 miles a gallon. Kind of blew me away. This is a great light to medium duty half ton pick up truck. Most people don’t need anything heavier duty.

Im a chevy salesmen in san diego. My friend owns a 2.7 rst 2019 with 75k miles with 32 inch wheel, no issues. That 2.7 1sr generation wqs good, but i really enjoy the 2nd generqtion high output. It is.smoother and talks better to the transmision than the 1st gen. Now, we are at the 2.7 turbomax engine. With 100k powertrain warranty. Let me just tell you. For someone like me who sees this engines all the time, i can tell you this is a reliable engine. It was designed like a diesel engine to reduce wear on components. Having the 22 model i do recomend it. Best mileage i got on the highway was about 24mpg, but average like.19. For a full size truck its hard to beat if you dont want to deal with the 3.0 duramax.

I'm not suprised you can't match the EPA test cycle for city mpg. I don't know there exact testing procedures but from my own real world testing they have to be sticking to main streets with few stops and 30-35mph speed limit for a majority of their testing. Drive actual stop and go traffic or residential streets with stop signs every block will bring down the city mpg significantly.

Ive owned either chevy or gmc trucks all my life. Im 56 now. They have all been v8s . They have also all gone well over 200000 miles. That being said can anyone honestly, let me repeat ,"honestly " say your totally confident this 2.7l 4 cylinder will last over 200000 miles without a major repair?? I have a buddy whos employer purchased 5 of these 2.7l 4 cylinder work trucks and they are allready talking about trading them in because of issues. They dont get the advertised MPG .They have struggle on hills while pulling trailers and they all have rough idle issues. Now if your the type of person who just likes trucks and only uses them to get groceries and drive around town then maybe this engine will work for you. However if 2.7l trucks are having issues with real work like trucks were designed for then i just dont think this platform will pass the test of time.
